DCRP Review: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T77
3 Star Review  DCResource - Oct 25, 2008

The Cyber-shot DSC-T77 is stylish, feature-packed, and capable of taking good photos when conditions are ideal. However, it's clunky touchscreen interface, heavy noise reduction, and design annoyances make it just "average" in the ultra-compact class. If you're sticking to outdoor, low ISO photos then it's worth a look, but ultimately there are better ultra-compact cameras available at the moment.

4 Star Review  Imaging Resource - Dec 18, 2008

Slim and easy to use, the Sony Cyber-shot T77 is also easy on the eyes. Its small body is nonetheless sturdy and solid, and its 3-inch wide-screen LCD offers a unique experience. Like most T-series cameras, the Sony T77 powers on with the sliding front cover, making capture of quick snapshots as fast as a flick of your fingers. The opposite motion closes the camera up, ready for stowing. The Sony T77 has a 4x zoom and a 10-megapixel sensor, and its image processor makes short work of difficult lighting situations. The Cyber-shot T77 is a sweet little camera. Click below for our review of the Sony Cybershot T77.

3 Star Review  cameralabs.com - Nov 21, 2008

Sony’s Cyber-shot DSC-T77 is a slim 10.1 Megapixel compact with a 4x optically-stabilised lens and a 3in touch-sensitive widescreen display. The successor to the popular T70, the new T77 keeps the touch-sensitive display, sliding front panel and minimal physical controls, but increases the resolution by two Megapixels, extends the zoom range from 3x to 4x, enhances a number of the automatic settings, and slims down to a mere 15mm thick. If you’re into slim and stylish, gadget-packed compacts it could be for you, but we reckon there’s two key rivals which represent better value overall. Find out which models beat the Sony and how its quality compares in our review at Cameralabs.com.

3.5 Star Review  photographyblog.com - Feb 27, 2009

The Sony Cyber-shot T77 is an ultra-slim 10 megapixel compact camera, measuring less than 14mm at its thinnest point. Available in brown, green, pink, black and silver for £209 / $300, the Sony T77 is almost completely controlled via its 3 inch widescreen touch-sensitive LCD panel. Other stand-out features of the Cybershot T77 include a 35-140mm equivalent 4x zoom lens, intelligent scene recognition, Smile Shutter and face detection with child and adult priority, high sensitivity shooting (up to ISO 3200), anti-blink function, and optical image stabilisation. Gavin Stoker finds out if the Sony Cyber-shot T700 is worth the £209 / $300 asking price.

THE GOOD: Attractive design; useful feature set; fast performance. THE BAD: Nearly too small; touch screen not for everyone; soft photos. THE BOTTOM LINE: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T77 is a fun, fast ultracompact, but its almost too tiny for its own good.

4 Star Review  productwiki.com - Mar 21, 2009

Introduced in fall of 2008, the Sony Cybershot DSC-T77 ultra-compact has a 10.1 megapixel CCD sensor and 4x optical zoom lens. As with most Sony Cybershot models, the lens is made by Carl Zeiss optics, which many photographers agree are among the best available. Several included features are designed to help make picture-taking simple while ensuring good results. Face, smile and blink detection help keep the right things in focus, and even assist in determining the right time to release the shutter. Dual-image stabilization helps keep pictures sharp, even when there is some unavoidable camera-shake. Basic retouching, including red-eye fix, can be done direction in-camera. Features: 10.1 megapixel CCD sensor 4x optical zoom Carl Zeiss lens face & smile detection dual image stabilization anti-blink function captures video available in 5 colors in-camera retouching tools ... PROS: (1) Thin-profile (19/3") and lightweight (4.4 oz) for easy pocketability (2) Steel front cover covers and protects flash and lens - allowing you to throw it in your bag or pocket without worry (3) 4x optical zoom is not bad considering the width of the camera (4) Large 3." touch screen display (5) Touch screen interface works well ... CONS: (1) Harsh JPEG compression reduces 10.1 mps images to around 3.5 megabytes reducing picture quality (2) limited flash range (3) expensive and not as functional compared to larger, thicker cameras

not too bad but will probably be phased out by newer/more exciting cameras in 6 months...
3 Star Review   By member miyazawa2 - Oct 21, 2008

Strengths: compact and easy to use; touch screen

Weakness: cannot rotate like the nikon coolpix, although this is smaller in size... would think sony can do better than nikon

not too bad for a compact, easy to use camera. the huge almost exclusive touchscreen has its advantages and disadvantages for those who prefers one or the other. they downgraded the 5x zoom from the previous model but with the 10.1 megapixels... it really doesn't make much of a difference for the everyday individual. the only thing i don't look forward to is that in 6 months this model will probably be obsolete, and replaced by something else. i hope sony will catch on and at least put in the rotating function like the iphone and the new nikon coolpix.

4 Star Review   By member azeeman33 - Oct 10, 2008

Strengths: Portability, very good pictures indoors and outside during day

Weakness: Touch screen a little hard to use, night time pictures with flash

Very good camera for people who don't want to set their own functions and just leave it on auto. We have been using the camera with automatic settings and are very satisfied with indoor pictures and pictures in daylight. Night pictures with the flash are not as good. Make sure you are fairly close to subjects when taking night pictures to get a decent shot. Played around with some of the settings, but it gets a little confusing so usually just default to auto. Time between picture is fast, even when using the flash. Battery life has been good, giving us enough power to use for a full day on a charge.
