Excellent image quality - good luck with focus

I have had the camera for about 6 months now and it is a great compact camera, however I have missed many shots due to the slow focus speeds. It has been out over a year and still no firmware updates which is troubling given the cost of the camera. It makes me feel that there is no real support for this hardware.
