DCRP Review: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX20V
4 Star Review  DCResource - Jun 20, 2012

The DSC-HX20V is a responsive, fun-to-use camera with some genuinely useful extra features (HDR, Anti Motion Blur, Sweep Panorama), a decent set of manual controls, and a top-notch movie mode. It'll never win awards for its photo quality, though it's super high resolution means that downsized photos look very good. If you're looking for a GPS-equipped travel zoom camera, then the HX20V is well worth considering.

2 Star Review   By DuneDancer on Sony - Official Store - Apr 5, 2013

I purchased the camera while on vacation from Best Buy. I charged the camera and then went on a boating trip. About 10 pictures into the trip the camera stopped working. I charged it again that night and within the next 48 hrs it was dead again. This happened numerous times in the 18 days that I had the camera. Took it back to Best Buy and they wouldn't do anything. I was 3 days past their return policy.

best point and shoot camera
5 Star Review   By metalhead on Sony - Official Store - Mar 2, 2013

Best point and shoot camera for the money. Takes really good pictures right out of the box just put it in auto point and shoot thats it! It decides if you need a flash or if you have a shaky hand it will correct for that automatically. The best camera for concerts fits right in your pocket like a cellphone just a little thicker though but not a problem. Would recommend to friends and family

Feedback
4 Star Review   By vasily on Sony - Official Store - Jan 7, 2013

I got this camera a couple of weeks ago, and generally I am very impressed with it, as it takes near SLR-like images. The only complaint that I have is the distortion of the image in "no-zoom" mode that creates very visible curvature of objects close to the edge of the frame. I don't know if this is a defect of my particular camera, or a general problem with the model. I may try to replace it and see if the defect goes away. Perhaps there is a shooting mode that would not result in having this distortion but I haven't found a solution in the user guide.

Somewhat disappointed
4 Star Review   By h2otstr on Sony - Official Store - Nov 28, 2012

I replaced my Olympus Stylus camera with this one. I have to conscientiously place my thumb on the special area so that I do not record videos. I recently took over 1300 photos and must have had 15 videos that I did not purposely take. Don't like that there is no real good paper manual either. I also had a problem with the lens cover not retracting when I turned on the camera. I had to manually slide the cover back into the slot . Not sure if this is a malfunction on my camera or if this has happened to others. The wrist strap on my camera sliced through and my camera fell on the ground. I only purchased this camera at the end of September. Fortunately the lens had retracted or it might have been broken. I took the strap off my husband's camera and put it on my for the remainder of my trip.

Great Camera!
5 Star Review   By pug319 on Sony - Official Store - Sep 27, 2012

This camera is wonderful. Solid in feel which helps holding it steady. Zoom is incredible. The 3D pictures, when viewed on my Bravia 3D TV are really impressive. Not native 3D but very, very close to it and very impressed that this 3D is created on the fly in the software. Tons of options. Took a day or two to learn the menu and still learning it but it's mostly intuitive. I like the built-in help guide for each feature. The manual is fairly good but it's only online. That's about the only thing that I can fault. For the money, a manual on CD would be appropriate. Otherwise, an excellent camera.

4 Star Review   By CameraLady on Sony - Official Store - Sep 23, 2012

I take mostly sports pictures of my nieces and nephews. I upgraded from a Sony DSC-H10 that I bought in 2009. I love the longer optical zoom and the shots that I'm getting with the 10 frames per second. However, the time you have to wait for the images to be stored can be annoying. I find that instead of being ready to take the next shot I look up to watch the game so that I'm not counting the seconds of wait time. I also like that there are 3 memory settings. Makes it easier if the camera shuts down and you don't have a lot of time to reselect settings. My previous camera had a menu option to turn off the Auto Preview function, which I liked especially for the sports shooting, but I haven't been able to find a way to turn it off on this camera. If anyone knows how, I'd love to hear from you. I've searched the online help and couldn't find anything about being able to turn it off. After my first use, I thought about returning the camera because I was frustrated with the wait time to store images. However, when I looked at the pictures I had taken, I was amazed at some of the action shots that I got. I've used it a couple of more times and I'm adapting to it. If I could find a camera with the same (or better) zoom and 10 fps burst mode that was in this price range, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat! Lots of options on this camera, most of which I haven't used yet, but I like the list available in the Scene Selection. I'm also going to try out the Color Mode where the image captured is black and white except for the color you select.

I love this camera!
5 Star Review   By SwissSusy on Sony - Official Store - Aug 3, 2012

I am picky about my cameras, especially since I stopped hauling SLRs in favor of less weight and more convenience. Most super zooms suffer from fuzzy or shaky images, but Sony has really improved clarity, even when pushing the zoom to its extreme limit. The baby bunny whose photo I took was on the other side of my not-too-small yard. I was sitting in my car in the driveway. I zoomed all the way in on the little cutie and caught him with a mouthful of grass. I honestly can't say enough about how much I love this camera!
