Great Camera
5 Star Review   By Winterscrap on Sony - Official Store - Sep 26, 2013

The whole family loves using this camera. I wish the zoom on the lens had a bigger ratio. It was a great value. We love the burst mode. Still early in our use. Controls are easy to figure out. Iphone app that links with camera is not as usefull as it could be. Still this camera is a great value and I couldn't justify buying the newer model with this one available.

Great camera but the UI could be better.
4 Star Review   By Terry on Adorama - Sep 17, 2013

If you're not going to invest in many lenses then the Sony NEX series is great. It's a tough choice between this and a Micro 4/3s, but I wanted the larger sensor rather than more lens choices.

Beginner Looks Like a Pro
5 Star Review   By RunToTheFinish on Sony - Official Store - Sep 14, 2013

As someone who loves photos, but never took the time to truly understand how a great photo was captured the NEX has allowed me to up my game without a ton of training! The built in features for focusing, lighting and "Instagram" like effects have made my shots consistently more appealing as I continue to learn. One of my other favorite features is the Play Memories connection which allows me to instantly send a photo to my phone for posting to social media! Now nighttime shots look amazing, scenery is more brilliant and the mood is captured so much better than via a phone.

Amazing!
5 Star Review   By DianaElizabeth on Sony - Official Store - Sep 5, 2013

I'm a professional wedding photographer and I use a Canon 5D Mark III - the thing is, I don't want to take the heavy DSLR body or expensive lenses traveling with me. I couldn't wait to get my hands on the NEX camera and see what it could do. I bought the 50mm/1.8 and 16/2.8 lenses which was worth it since I enjoy using prime lenses and shallow depth of field. I took it on my recent trip to Ireland - which means I trusted it THAT MUCH to capture the amazing landscape and to document this once in a lifetime trip that I had. I am thrilled with the images and also the features - the wi-fi allowed me to instantly share to social media (better than any iPhone pic) and also teach my friend who didn't know anything about photography to easily focus on me with the touch screen feature and adjust the dial for shutterspeed (while it was on manual mode) so she could get the correct exposure. I also have a Powershot S100 but it is basically a point-and-shoot, even with an F/2 capability. This NEX is pretty much what I use to take photos for my blog and personal trips like traveling. If I were to suggest a camera to any bloggers, or moms who just want something that works well - this is now what I recommend. DSLR quality too! Can't beat it.

Exellent camera!!
5 Star Review   By Fellowphotographer on Sony - Official Store - Sep 5, 2013

I bought this camera for photography purposes. This is my second year really getting into photography. I had a little point and shoot camera before this one and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The clarity is beautiful, I love that the screen flips up, love that the camera reconizes what it's point at and picks the best setting, the direct upload and other apps are a great add on to the camera and there are so many other things that I could say about this camera. I just love it so much and am very pleased with the value!

My DSLR is getting lonely.
5 Star Review   By DigitalDave on Sony - Official Store - Sep 3, 2013

I've been shooting with Canon and Nikon DSLR's for a LONG time, since 2005 I believe. When mirrorless cameras were announced I was skeptical, how could something so small and light produce images comparable (and often better) than my big bulky DSLR? After shooting with the NEX-5R for a couple of weeks I can honestly say that my DSLR is collecting dust on a shelf. Why the change of heart? Here are some reasons... ****** What I like ****** - It's small. Real small. I am an active guy, I hike, bike, and ski my brains out. In order for me to take decent (non cameraphone) shots during these outdoor activities I usually had to haul my DSLR with me. That meant I'd be removing my vertical grip, and packing one to two lenses so it didn't feel like I had a boat anchor on my back. With the NEX-5R, this thing fits in the back of my cycling jersey with the stock 18-55mm lens, that's how small this thing is. - WiFi is awesome. I use this feature constantly with my iPhone, and Xperia tablet. I can transfer the shot in a couple seconds, edit with Snapseed and publish it up to my blog, Instagram feed, or Facebook. It's a killer feature. - Low light sensitivity! I attached a photo that I took drinking wine with a friend at dusk. Simply put, if you're shooting in low light, you won't have to go to ISO 1,000,000 to make the photos look good. - The video is REAL, REAL good. 1080p60 with depth of field? Yup. - Panoramic mode is just awesome. I attached one that I shot at dawn overlooking Snowmass. There aren't any stitch marks, the photos are massive in size, and they look GORGEOUS. You'll find yourself using this feature all the time because it's just that good. - it shoots to regular old SD cards. Amen, Sony. Thanks for not trapping us into Magic Gate / Stick / whatever that format was. Warning: Make sure you use Class 10 cards. ****** What don't I like? ****** - It doesn't come with a viewfinder. Yes, you can buy one, but I REALLY wish it had it out of the box. I shoot in a lot of high light environments, like snow. I have to crank the brightness on the viewfinder to see what I'm doing. Is this a deal-breaker? Absolutely not. ****** Wrapup ****** + Takes amazing photos. + Low light performance is crazy good. + Incredibly portable. + Takes regular SD cards. + Controls are great. + Videos look gorgeous. + Panoramic mode is a hidden gem. + WiFi and Play Memories is great for transferring pics to your smartphone / tablet. - Doesn't have a viewfinder. (Although you can purchase one.)

Well worth my wait
5 Star Review   By Snackman on Sony - Official Store - Mar 15, 2013

I have been waiting to get a grown up camera. I was sold on this camera after watching an ad. I started researching cameras, checked on this one. Waited about a month after choosing this model to make sure it was what I wanted. I decided to buy it from my local camera store. I was taking great pictures as soon as the battery was charged. I carry this in my briefcase on all my travel, I fly weekly and it fits perfect. The special effects are fun to play with. In 2 weeks I leave on vacation and cant wait to photo document the whole thing. I am struggling a little with getting my video's off into my computer. I will figure it out.

My wife and I purchased this Camera just under a year ago, we took a vacation to jamaica we packed the camera in our carry on when we landed in jamaica I went to take some pictures and the display screen on the back wouldn't work, took it in for repair when I got back and they tole me it couldn't be repaired because the was moisture damage due to the humidity change. this is rediculus I cant even travel with my camera this is a manufacturs defect and a camera should be able to withstand a little temp change. I will never purchase another sony camera.

5 Star Review   By Seblu93 on Sony - Official Store - Jan 26, 2013

I bought this camera two months ago and I must say that is the ideal camera for those who are going out and want to take some casual pictures. The image quality is simply amazing, I really want to try other lenses, but for now the 18 - 55 is working great! The flip-out screen is very comfortable when you need to take some difficut pictures. The Program Auto works perfect! And the 10 fps is amazing for sports shooting.

Just Perfect
5 Star Review   By KnightFox on Sony - Official Store - Jan 7, 2013

This camera is just perfect. I Love it. I enjoy using it any place I go for the fit size and light weight. Truely functional. You'll be stunt by how it works in Auto that you will give up manual mode. But on the other hand, Manual is just so easy with all the button and control dial in front of you. The screen is so truthful and touch idea just makes it more excellent. You can rotate it 180 and I did enjoy self portrait with me and my girlfriend. And the idea of sharing photo online or to other device is great. Nobody catchs moments and shares it faster than you dooo. This is so cool. You won't regret it.

Excellent Camera

Excellent camera. Great for beginners, easy to use. The touch screen is unresponsive most of the time, but you don't need to use the touch screen for anything. You can use the control dial for everything. Price is a little steep. Overall excellent camera that I would recommend to anyone.

Great Camera
5 Star Review   By Toronto626 on Sony - Official Store - Dec 26, 2012

I am very happy with this camera. The picture quality is amazing and it's very intuitive and user friendly. The Wi-Fi feature is great allowing you to post pics on social media sites moments after taking a picture. This camera is easy to use yet has the features and picture quality of a camera that may cost twice as much.

Good Camera
3 Star Review   By Lasvegan on Sony - Official Store - Nov 29, 2012

Overall I am happy with my camera. It has great photo quality. It is the thinnest NEX model, but the external flash kind of cancels that out. Although the flash does look pretty cool. You cant use the front facing tilt screen with the flash installed. The touch screen is not sensitive enough. Don't expect iPhone like responses. Might as well not have touchscreen at all if it doesn't work properly. The wifi is kind of redundant when you can plug in the camera. I guess the technology just needs time to get where it should be. I would suggest paying more for the NEX 7, or less for the NEX F3. Or wait ten years for the technology to improve.

Great for beginners
5 Star Review   By Bertha on Sony - Official Store - Nov 16, 2012

This is my first Nex camera. I was thinking of buying either 5N or 5R. Finally, I bought the new version. It works perfect for beginners like me, since it even comes with tips for shooting. I do not need to know the professional words or meannings for the parameters to get the photo effect I want. I am still trying to explore the full functions. The only concern is since I do not have a chance to compare 5N and 5R, I am always concernnnig about if the 250 axtra dollars were needed compared to 5N. Also, I hope there can be more and better apps coming for the camera.

You won't be sorry.
5 Star Review   By Spector on Sony - Official Store - Oct 5, 2012

Sony's NEX-5RK/B is perfect for the family, weather you taking pictures at any one of your kids sporting event or family camping pictures, the Sony NEX-5RK/B does it all. And unlike $1,000 camera that will leave a hole in your pocket bigger than the Grand Canyon, the Sony NEX-5RK/B is a fraction of the price with all the same fuctions. Another neat trait that the NEX-5RK/B has is the extended lens option, whats really cool about it is that it has an adaptor(optional) that allows you to use any extended lens, even if its not a Sony brand. So if your looking for a slick new design, durability, and quality, but dont wanna spend $1,000 dollars on a carmera(and lets be honest, you won't use the camera enough to get your $1,000 back) then try the Sony NEX-5RK/B as the title implies, you won't be sorry. ^_^
