Wonderful DSLR without the Bulk
5 Star Review   By Yakthar on Sony - Official Store - Oct 3, 2013

I'm just getting back into photography after a seven year lapse or so in graduate school. Starting back with taking shots, I've now got a little 2 year old I take pictures of and so something that I could carry to the park and elsewhere and take pictures was a must. The NEX-3N is wonderful because it allows me to have a quick portable option for shots that takes great autofocus pictures, has decent manual focusing, and WONDERFUL picture quality. The highest praise I can give this camera's shots is that they look true to life. The colors are amazing. The interface takes I'd say a day of tinkering (2-3 hours max) and you'll get it. It may seem odd at first, but there is a method to the madness. The only con I have is that I've rediscovered my love of manual focusing, and the LCD's pixel count is a bit too low for this to be super effective. The next step up, the NEX-5 has double the pixels, and manual focusing is much easier on that model (from best buy store comparison). The autofocus as I mentioned works great. My 2 year old has actually become obsessed with this camera, and will often use it to take pictures. The auto mode works great for him and he takes pictures of dogs at the park all the time :) Superior auto for many will be the way to go, and the kit lens works well across a variety of settings. For low light work you'll eventually want a prime with a better aperture, but otherwise the lens works great too. If you are like me and going from an iPhone back into camera photography and looking for a solid DSLR without the bulk of traditional full-frame models, this is the camera for you. If you are obsessed with manual focus, I'd say look at 5 or 6, as the LCD just doesn't cater to that well.

GREAT Camera
5 Star Review   By elpelonloco on Sony - Official Store - Aug 21, 2013

I´ve had this Camera [white NEX-3NL model], and i absolutely love it, i ask a friend of mine about a camera that be light, small, and with pretty good quality on photos, i didn´t had any idea of Photography, i was looking something else, and my friend told me and talked me about the NEX series and i decided to plunge into this one, and now i want more not because this was a poor camera, but because this camera is so good and perfect that make me wanna jump into a more professional/enthusiast/hobby camera like the a99 or a65, etc. This is a great Camera if you want to start into this world of Photography ´cause is pretty easy to use and comfortable, with all the menus, buttons, etc. And take clear images and great as you can see in the example images. it takes great photos in dark/twilight situations and with the long exposures, i´m stil experimenting with this camera with the included lens 16-50 mm and also bought the 20mm f/2.8 Wide-Angle Lens "pancake", great pictures with both lenses. I absolutely recommend this camera.!!! I´m Pretty Happy With my Purchase.

LOVE LOVE LOVE BUT,
4 Star Review   By WhitneyStarz on Sony - Official Store - Aug 15, 2013

So I absolutely LOVE the camera!! If you've never had a DSLR then it can be aitttle hard to use and take a minute to learn so im still not able to get pictures in low light without TONS of noise and distortion but hoping that's just me. Its still tiny and light but takes amazing DSLR quality photos it has so many features it almost has it all and if you've never had anything more then a point and shoot then it defiantly has enough all you will need to begin for sure!!! But so my main complaint is I have had the camera just over a month, I got the white one and it is getting little cracks in the paint a few all over in different places near the screws and just open areas too!! I have treated the camera perfectly with the most care there is no reason it should have cracks im VERY UPSET!!! And also maybe my fault but when I got it I used it the next day without thinking about getting a screen protector for the LCD first and from just ONE use of hanging it around my neck letting it dangle a few hours taking 100's of pictures the LCD screen is RUINED so horribly scratched its hard to see through on areas it makes seeing the screen at certain angles really hard. I've never had a screen scratch so easily so fast so bad ever! I only wish there was something I could do now. Otherwise LOVE the camera cant wait to get to try the newer ones !! I give it 3 1/2-4 stars because if its already this messed up from a couple uses it doesn't seem like it will last very long and for the price it should be a little more sturdy and last 2-4 years or more!!!

A sweet little camera
5 Star Review   By Cat1900 on Sony - Official Store - Jul 28, 2013

I have had the camera for two weeks now and love the response of the camera. I have found that as it is so light that if I am not holding it tight enough the picture is blurry from the response of the shutter moving. Still practicing. The photos when clear are stunning. I usually use the manual when taking landscapes and photos. The scene for sports works very well catching my dog playing with the water from the hose. Twilight and moon shots with the tripod are detailed and a joy to view.

A large sensor tiny camera that ticks all t' boxes
5 Star Review   By Koray on Sony - Official Store - Apr 30, 2013

Sony NEX series cameras have always attracted my attention due to their tiny dimensions, 1.5x crop factor large sensor, high capacity battery and very good image characteristics. However, I've never gotten one since they were not ticking all the boxes for me. For example the earlier kit zoom lens of NEX was both very large and not stellar in image quality, so I wanted a better and smaller one. I also wanted a good video recording capability with a power zoom option, which I use very often. I needed peaking support for manual lens use. And as a final point, since this camera will replace my compact digicam and will be shared with my family, a simple built in flash and a zoom rocker control next to the shutter release was an important need from usability perspective. NEX-3N delivers all these points with style, and for only $450, such a good deal! It comes with a wonderfully tiny power zoom lens which has a very useful 16-50mm (24-75mm eqv) range. It is a no-frills camera but has all the necessary features and the most important thing, its image quality rocks! Not only that, but also wonderfully clean and clear full HD movies, during which you can zoom with the compact camera style zoom rocker. I have sold all my other compacts and my large DSLR. This Sony replaces them all. Wonderful camera.
