Strengths: Its a Camera

Weakness: Pretty much Everything

Terrible image resolution. There is no battery life, the camera takes maybe 40 pics and the batteries are dead. Only us rechargeable batteries otherwise it will cost a fortune to use. Shutter speed is slow, and the focal length is odd. If you are physically five feet from something it appears you are ten feet away. Nothing more than a childs point and shoot beginner camera.

Camera will Fail on YOU!
1 Star Review

Strengths: Cheaply Made

Weakness: Will Have Card Lock error!

This camera is cheaply made, over priced, and will eventually have a card locked message. This message will come up no matter what you do, even trying different cards with no lock on them.

S630 Silver Digital Camera
3 Star Review   By member GO BLUE - Aug 4, 2008

Strengths: Picture quality, size

Weakness: Battery life, feels cheap

For the price this can't be beat, but like others have said battery life is what gives this 3 stars. This was a present to my nephew which i also included an Eneloop battery pack and he was taking pictures right away. Easy to learn, small body and light makes this perfect for anyone starting out with their first digital camera. If you can find it under 100 don't hesitate to buy.

Some usesful Tips for this Camera users
5 Star Review

Strengths: Cheap & Best

Weakness: Shutter is slow

I found this cheap camera is shooting high quality pictures & very easy to use. I have an expensive digital camera of another brand (better not to mention the name) and it is very difficult to use. Someone complained that the pictures are blur. Even I had the same problem because I pressed so many wrong settings. To correct it, I read the manual, went to Setting2, and selected RESET, I got my camera back to excellent condition. Someone has problem with battery. Use Rechargeable batteries. Pls note that there are different capacities like 2000, 2500 etc. This camera needs 2500. Use a good charger, and you get a lot of shots. NiMH type is good. Take care to inform this camera which type of battery you use. There is a menu called BATTERY. Select the type of battery you use, ie Alkaline or Rechargeble and the camera knows the type. If you use one type of battery and the camera doesn't know it, perhaps there could be a problem. One thing I loved in this camera is to view the stored pictures on LCD, without pressing the Power ON button. In my previous camera, I had to press the Power ON button to see the playback. The disadvantage was the lens zooms out. There are lot of occasions when you need to only see the already taken pictures, or show to someone. Zooming out the lens unnecessarily wears it out, drains the battery. So this camera avoids this and prolongs battery life by showing/editing the display without making on the Camera lens. I would prefer to retain this camera and dispose the other brand.

Samsung S630
2 Star Review   By member sssxyz - Feb 21, 2008

Strengths: Price, compact, easy to use

Weakness: Battery life, Shutter speed

This camera does score better than others with this sub-$100 price range. Although it does not have whole lot of features as those in a higher price range, it is basic enough for day-to-day use or give it to a young teen. The camera size is compact that can put into your pocket. You do not need to read the manual to start using the camera. The picture quality is above average. However, it seems to me that the shutter takes a little bit longer to capture the picture than others. The battery life on this camera is not desireable. Make sure you always keep some extra rechargeable batteries with you.

Don't buy this camera
1 Star Review   By member lwells2000 - Jan 21, 2008

Weakness: All pics are blurry and batteries don't last.

This camera is cheap and I was impressed with its features at first for the price, but now whenever I take pictures they come out blurry. Camera has never been dropped or abused and only used maybe a dozen times. An occassional photo with not be blurry which is odd and they look very nice, but every other pic is blurry. Batter life is very short like others have mentioned and I've had to replace them after taking just a few pictures at times. Complete waste of money. Very disappointed. I have to buy a new camera so buying this was big mistake.

Really wanted to like this camera but ...
1 Star Review   By member DR_Drake - Jan 1, 2008

Strengths: Offers a lot of features

Weakness: Battery life? What battery life?

This was to be my first digital camera and I can't wait to exchange it. After it sucked up the batteries that came with it (almost understandable,) I added my own new good alkaline batteries. I got one picture before they too were sucked empty. That picture disappeared after replacing the batteries. I invested in NiMH batteries and charger and after waiting 6 hours for a full charge I got one photo before the inevitable "low battery" message, so all the posts I've read recommending them

Cheap and Basic Camera
2 Star Review   By member hyt1900 - Dec 24, 2007

Strengths: Price is very low Light Weight

Weakness: No many features Video mode takes bad pictures

We bought this camera for our mother, and for that reason we made a good purchase. She needed a easy to use digital camera that she could pick up and quickly take pictures with. I played with the camera for about 2 days and noticed that the video mode takes some horrible looking video, so I would not recommend this camera to replace a camcorder. Also, the flash takes about 5 to 10 seconds to warm up. We currently have energizer's e2 batteries in there which are one of the best, so I know it's not the batteries. If your looking for a cheap camera that is easy to use with no "extra" thrills, then this is the one.

Great little camera
4 Star Review   By member aaronwolfgang - Dec 21, 2007

Strengths: Small Price

Weakness: Hard to come by Delay in Flash

We bought this camera for a family matter, and our wishes was for a lower price starter camera and easy to use. We didn't need a high level MP rating, only a camera that would fit in a pocket and easy to use. About the only complaint that we have is the flash takes a little long to charge and flash, but other than that...it's a nice value.

Easy to order the camera and afforadable. Would have liked it to have a memory card. Also, needs a camera case. Would be helpful. Appears to be a good quality camera.

Samsung S630: Impressions after three weeks and more than 700 shots.
4 Star Review

Strengths: An excellent point and shoot camera for $99, with great flexibility for advanced photography and for taking on a trip.

Weakness: No optical viewfinder.

I bought this camera one month ago as backup for a big trip next week. Plus: Shirt pocket size, about the same the Nikon L11 or the Fuji F30, with a good 3x zoom lens (35-105mm effective) with automatic control. In addition, program or full manual mode allowing control over almost all shooting parameters except focus. Uses 2.5” LCD with 150K pixels. Fits well for single (right) hand shooting, good audio feedback of focus (when enabled). Bright, well exposed pictures under most conditions. Very effective custom white balance. Pictures as sharp as any 6 Mp camera. Reasonable quick in time to first shot (2.8 seconds), shutter delay (0.15 seconds) and image replay. Optional display of all camera settings in capture and review mode. Advanced Shake Reduction (ASR) is clever and quick to engage with the command dial, but takes 2 seconds per shot for the camera to combine two images, an iso1600 shot is followed by a shot exposed for iso200. ASR produces reliably sharp pictures freehand at 1/2 second in wide angle. Nice 640x480 30 fps movie mode with zoom, stabilization and sound, plus the option to capture selected frames to a 640x480 jpg. Uses (2) AA batteries. The battery meter can be set to NiMH or Alkaline. A freshly charged set of 2500 mA*hr NiMH lasts for more than 200 shots. Minus: No optical viewfinder, CCD (unknown brand) shows noise starting at iso200, worse at iso400, but this is obvious only when pixel peeping into dark areas, but is easy to remove with NoiseWare. When the battery is empty (normally white battery symbol turns red) the camera shuts down sometimes without pulling back the lens. Inserting fresh batteries restores everything to normal. Three shot bracketing is available fixed to -1/3, 0, +1/3 EV, but it takes 6 button presses to get there via the screen menu, pictures are taken at 0.3, 1.7 and 3.6 seconds, but the LCD remains off for almost nine seconds. Bracketing mode is tuned off when the power is turned off. Continuous mode (at 0.6 frame per second) is also of limited usability since the LCD display is turned off until the shutter is released. There are no customizable buttons.

S630 Silver Digital Camera
3 Star Review   By member RyanOC - Aug 7, 2007

Strengths: Price, Internal Memory + SD, Regular Batteries

Weakness: Battery Life, Size, Weight

This is a nice point and shoot camera but it goes through batteries quickly. I would suggest buying some high quality rechargeables. The nice thing is that if the batteries go dead, you can easily find replacements since it uses standard AA batteries. Overall, it's a nice camera that has a lot of features for a budget camera.

Samsun S630
3 Star Review

Strengths: Price

Weakness: Battery life is poor for both regular and rechargeable batteries. I used 8 batteries taking pictures for about 2 hours. Instructions are poor.

Although the camera is wonderful the directions leave much to be desired. I found the entire instruction book useless. This is my 3rd digital camera and the directions for this one were the poorest I've ever seen. The directions are incomplete and need improvement. This camera is not for the inexperienced user.

Easy to use for my 11 year old
3 Star Review   By member Steve L - Jul 3, 2007

Strengths: Easy to use. My 11 year old daughter had it up and taking pictures within minutes after opening the box. Solid looking camera.

Weakness: There is a pause between pushing the button and the camera actually taking the picture. The instructions leave something to be desired as their are not detailed explanations on some of the features.

This is a solid camera for the price. Pictures are good and the camera was easy to use. Added an SD card to give it 1GB of memory and the whole package came to about $100.00. Not a bad birthday present!

Good camera, but the battery life is absolutely horrible. I am planning on trying the rechargeable batteries. The shutter is a little slow...listen for the camera to play a sound before moving.

Samsung 630 Silver Digital Camera
5 Star Review

Strengths: Very technically up to date at a very low price for a 6mp 3xopt camera. Upgraded from a much more expensive with less features.

Weakness: Curve over battery case little difficult. Only 20mb internal memory. Bought 512 memory card to add capacity. Supplied batteries pooped out quickly.

This is a very smart low priced camera with lots of extra goodies. Have tried it out and find it easier to operate than higher priced ones. Would recommend unless you are far into becoming a professional photographer or die hard devotee.

Samsung S630 Camera
4 Star Review   By member schoeman - May 13, 2007

Strengths: Good picture/video quality, very easy to use, inexpensive

Weakness: Cheap looking plastic case, a bit bulky with 2 AA batteries

Fabulous features, quality and ease of use for the money. Particularly good menus, optional manual control of exposure/aperture, of color tones, etc. Can adjust almost anything, or leave it automatic. Really great. Better feature set than my 300 Canon Digital Elph (better picture quality, too -- just bulkier)
