Olympus SP-560 UZ Review
4.5 Star Review  Imaging Resource - Nov 29, 2007

Outfitted with a slightly wider lens, more resolution, and better image quality, the Olympus SP-560UZ is a hot little digital camera that earns the name Ultra Zoom in a big way. With wide angle lenses such a rare commodity, it's interesting that Olympus took the extra step of making the SP-560's lens even wider than its predecessor, going from 28mm down to 27mm equivalent. That decreased its maximum telephoto focal length to 486mm, but it's clearly worth the tradeoff. No long zoom digital camera would be complete without some kind of mechanical image stabilization, and the Olympus SP-560's sensor-shift variety works pretty well. The Olympus SP-560 also has Face detection, shadow adjustment, guide mode, and can take up to 380 shots on four AA alkaline batteries. Not bad. We found the highest ISO settings somewhat unusable, but the lower ISOs are quite good. There's a lot more to tell about the well-designed Olympus SP-560 UZ digital camera, so click to see our review!

Olympus SP-560 UZ
3 Star Review  cnet.com - Mar 28, 2008

THE GOOD: Superlong, yet wide lens; manual exposure controls; good body design; supports wireless flash. THE BAD: Softness and noise hurt picture quality; middling performance. THE BOTTOM LINE: Olympus 8-megapixel ultrazoom generally improves over the SP-550UZ, but suffers from many of the same problems.

Olympus SP-560 UZ Digital Camera
5 Star Review   By member kwiksam - Jan 11, 2008

Strengths: The Olympus 560 UZ digital camera has tons of options for taking pictures. It's about as close to an SLR as you can get in a powerful regular digital camera.

Weakness: Because of all it's options, it can be a bit overwhelming for the starter or intermediate user. You need to understand terms like ISO, aperture, diopter, bracketing to appreciate the camera's value.

This is my 4th Olympus Camera. I stay with Olympus first of all because as I move on to bigger and better products, many of the features work the same way, so less to learn. All of my Olympus cameras produce/d magnificant pictures. As in most cameras capturing sports and action is a bit difficult still but the digi world is getting there, its not just Olympus. The only thing in previous cameras I did not like were the Olympus specific batteries. I always had to carry my charger, an extra battery and in most cases would need to charge both batteries several times a day, in order to get through 1 day of photography. The 560 has regular AA batteries so I should never get caught without power and having to find an outlet to recharge.

5 Star Review   By member tmosley - Jan 9, 2008

Strengths: Great pictures, intuitive, stylish, and functional. Uses AA batteries. Great price.

Weakness: Minor detail on camera strap, suggest using plastic instead of aluminum to avoid scratching the screen when in camera case.

Overall this is an excellent camera for the beginner and intermediate user. Although this is my first digital camera, I have researched and had the opportunity to use several brands before making a decision. I am very pleased with the results thus far and have no regrets.

Olympus SP560 UZ
5 Star Review   By member milkweed7946 - Nov 27, 2007

Strengths: Very pleased with the strength of the zoom. I like having quick access to the frequently used settings.

Weakness: All cameras have a weak point somewhere, but haven't found one here yet.

I am a first time user of Buy-Dig so I was a little nervous at first but couldn't be happier with the super fast service I received. This camera is easy to use, great clarity and color saturation without having to play with settings. I am not a pro, but would like to think I fall in the intermediate category and this is a perfect camera for me!
