DCRP Review: Olympus E-PL1
4 Star Review  DCResource - Mar 23, 2010

With the E-PL1, Olympus has created a compact, user-friendly interchangeable lens camera that is -- dare I say -- better than its more expensive siblings (the E-P1 and E-P2) in most respects. Sure, it doesn't have the eye-catching retro design, but the E-PL1 produces better looking photos (especially at high ISOs), has faster AF and continuous shooting speeds, and a built-in flash. Add in an easy-to-use interface, sensor-shift image stabilization, full manual controls, and an HD movie mode, and Olympus definitely has a winner on their hands. Best of all, the E-PL1 is inexpensive, selling for $599 with a decent quality 14 - 42 mm kit lens. The camera isn't perfect -- it tends to clip highlights, the autofocus is still slower than I'd like, and a control dial would be nice -- but for the money, the E-PL1 is definitely worth a close look.

Olympus PEN E-PL1 Review
4.5 Star Review  Imaging Resource - Jun 1, 2010

Olympus took most of what was great about the first two Pen cameras and dropped it into the E-PL1 digital camera. From the 12-megapixel sensor to the high quality optics and excellent output quality, the Olympus E-PL1 loses almost nothing while shedding a couple hundred dollars from the price, and getting a grip in the bargain. The built-in flash, also new, allows the Olympus E-PL1 to remote-control Olympus strobes to boot, making this lower-priced digital camera more versatile than the more expensive E-P1 and E-P2 digital cameras. A new video button allows you to start movie recording without leaving the mode you're in, and the Olympus E-PL1 also allows Manual control over video exposure. It's a pretty complete package, one that can be expanded with the addition of different lenses and accessories to grow as your needs do. Olympus E-PL1 (black, body only)
3.5 Star Review  cnet.com - Apr 6, 2010

THE GOOD: Excellent build quality; very good photo quality; can shoot raw+JPEG in every mode, including Art Filters and iAuto. THE BAD: Slow, with sluggish autofocus; short battery life; low-resolution LCD. THE BOTTOM LINE: Reasonably priced for an interchangeable-lens model, with the same high-quality photos of its siblings, the E-PL1 nevertheless suffers from slow performance that makes it a poor choice for snapshooters looking to upgrade.

When I was first looking for a DSLR I had my heart set on a Nikon D5000, but after playing around with a few Nikons and Canons, they all felt "uninspired" in my hands. As soon as I held this little gem in my hands I was sold! I bought it on the spot! When

Don't buy this camera if you want to snap action shots- it's just not intended for that application. However, if your criteria include the following: -small form factor/lightweight -superior low light/moderate to high ISO use -interchangeable lenses -can
