Nikon D7100 Review
5 Star Review Imaging Resource - Jun 26, 2013

By integrating a new 24.1-megapixel sensor and removing the optical low-pass filter for more per-pixel sharpness, the Nikon D7100 delivers the best image quality we've ever seen from a Nikon APS-C DSLR. The camera marks a serious upgrade over the much-beloved D7000, adding a new 51-point autofocus system, full 1080p HD video recording with full-time AF, and a nifty 1.3x crop mode to its advanced feature set. It's an ideal step-up camera for budding enthusiasts wanting to get more serious about their photography. Check out our in-depth Nikon D7100 review for more info.

Nikon D7100 (Body Only)
3.5 Star Review cnet.com - Apr 25, 2013

THE GOOD: The Nikon D7100 is a fast-shooting, well-designed camera thats comfortable to use. THE BAD: While the image quality is quite good, its not significantly better than that of the D7100s cheaper sibling, the D5200. And the lack of aperture control in movie mode gets a facepalm. THE BOTTOM LINE: While its still a great prosumer dSLR, the D7100 may only be worth the extra cash if you need a faster Nikon right now.

5 Star Review By RandyP on Adorama - Nov 14, 2013

This thing shoots rings around my old antique D2H. Fabulous looking photos, automatically, along with all the manual controls you could ever wish for. I should have pulled the trigger and updated ago. I agree with the reviews: this is the finest DX Nikon to date.

Great camera
5 Star Review By kliscinsky on Adorama - Nov 12, 2013

Upgrade the camera from a Nikon D200. I have been waiting for the D400 that does not seem to be ever coming. It handles nice, lighter and faster than my old camera. I still have some things to figure out since the layout is a little different. With time most settings I use will be second nature. The picture seems to be better and low light it is a lot better.

Very Happy with the Camera
5 Star Review By Jose Burset on Adorama - Nov 4, 2013

I received the camera about a month ago. I was using a D600, for about 5 months, and decided that needed a larger lens. I primarily use the camera for shooting wildlife, and the lens i was using (Nikon 28-300) is not big enough for the job. Going for a bigger lens was too expensive for me, so, after evaluating my options, decided to go back to DX format, with the same memory capacity of the D600, giving me an effective 1.5X factor in all the lenses, compared with the previous camera. Traded the D600, (bad business, if you are doing this, try selling it on your own!), and bought a Nikor 300mm F/4 with a Sigma 1.4x TC. Very happy with the results.

Nikon D7100
5 Star Review By Liz on Adorama - Oct 22, 2013

I got this camera mostly based on reviews, and I'm glad I did. I wanted a high megapixel camera that was able to shoot videos and I found it all in the Nikon D7100. I've heard about the poor battery life, but that doesn't really seem to matter to me I'm going to get another battery for backup any way. It has a lot of options as far as being able to control your settings, maybe too many for the average person.I don't have anything bad to say about the camera, and I don't think that I will. Overall I would recommend getting it if your interested in photography, or have been and want to upgrade.

Best non full frame sensor camera
5 Star Review By None on Adorama - Oct 22, 2013

Once changed the FN button to the focus button this camera is so nice to use. I shoot only raw so all the other settings I don't need. It's fast ... The dual card slots are a must shoots all day on one battery charge. Everything I need is done with thumb and index finger in Manuel modenever needing to look away from the view finder.

Great upgrade from my D7000
5 Star Review By skivvie on Adorama - Oct 22, 2013

I use the D7100 mostly for aerial photography. I've had the D7000 since it was introduced, and upgraded to the D7100 recently. So far the photo quality is surprisingly better than what I expected. The straight from camera RAW files need much less manipulation than I regularly had to do with the D7000, and having the extra megapixels for crops is fantastic. The focus system seems faster and more accurate as well. Otherwise, it feels like the same camera with a better grip and adjusted button layout. Dislikes: The directional pad on the back is smaller and harder to use with gloves on, which I have to do frequently, and there is no mount for a plastic rear screen protector, which is a surprising and unfortunate omission. I highly recommend this camera, even as an upgrade from the already great D7000.

Superb
5 Star Review By Quister on Adorama - Oct 3, 2013

This really is superb. Just as Ken Rockwell says. I usually think to want an FX camera but this is better! It has a great depth-of-field for detail shots and portraits. The quality is the best that Nikon has to offer. The controls as quite good, not as good as the D700 and much better than the terrible controls of the D3200. The ergonomics of the grip are still not as good as they used to be with the D700 or the tremendous D200 but they are better than the terribly small D3200. Great, great deal in a bundle with Adorama.

Very pleased with the D7100
5 Star Review By Linda on Adorama - Sep 24, 2013

I bought this as an upgrade to my D3100. I believe I started making a list of features I would want in my next camera as I learned more and more about photography. I had considered either the D600 or D300S and then did a comparison of both of those with the D7100 and was sold. With 24.1 megapixel there's plenty of detail and the focusing capabilities make it easy to capture crisp details in lots of different scenarios. In the 13 days since I opened the box and I have photographed cityscapes (day and night), kayaks on the river, landscapes, wildlife (including a hunting osprey and grey blue herons in flight), a Civil War Re-enactment and a bit of macro photography of fall flowers. I was pleased with my photographs in every situation. They have made it easy to access all of the parameters that I frequently use ... I haven't yet found something to assign to the user function button.

Complicated, but great
5 Star Review By The Light Factory on Adorama - Sep 17, 2013

I loved the simplicity of my old F3. This thing wants to do everything for me, and I spend a lot of time over riding it. But each generation of Nikons gets better, and this camera will get easier the more I use it. Do yourself a favor and don't walk around on Auto. We are getting closer to film, which you cannot process in most of the country.

Nikon D7100
5 Star Review By SergeD on Adorama - Sep 15, 2013

I bought it for my wife, who is a very amateur. Lightroom 3 does not support its NEF files. I use a stand alone Adobe DNG converter and then have to load them to Lightroom. Which is one small incontinence. The camera is almost perfect in all other aspects.

Wow!
5 Star Review By RobertN on Adorama - Aug 27, 2013

I'm so glad I decided to go with the D7100, it's amazing technology. I considered full frame, considered a lesser APS-C. This is the sweet spot of incredible vs cost. Make sure you commit to buying some great glass to ensure you get the most from this machine. Forego the kit lenses and get a 50 or 35 fixed 1.8 G or 1.4G then expand with the best zooms you can manage. I'm finding great things about the camera everytime I explore more of the manual or online blogs/videos. It's full of nice surprises.

Best camera so far
5 Star Review By Tanya on Adorama - Jul 30, 2013

Love the camera. I did get dust and junk visible in the viewfinder on the first day, not sure how as I am extra careful. I think it came that way out of the box, but I was too excited to notice. Spots on images got worse without lens changes. I am exchanging this body per Nikon, but I do love the camera.

Met or exceeded all my expectations!!
5 Star Review By TEEman on Adorama - Jul 17, 2013

I have been a Nikon user since back in the 60's when I used a Nikormat EL. Then I jumped into the digital world with a Nikon 995, to a D70 and up until now a D90. I am basically an amateur/ enthusiast, so pro cameras are pretty much an overkill to me. Plus, I could not justify the added cost plus the large investment of new lenses with the obviously superior full frame models. Well after weeks of putting it off and reading reviews, I just jumped in with both feet and ordered the D7100 from Adorama. And may I say they responded extremely fast with the shipment!! They are quickly becoming my number one source. I am still learning the D7100, wading through David Busch's monster book which I recommend to anyone. And as I learn this new camera and use it, it has met and in most cases exceeded my expectations!!!! Not perfect, but a super camera for an amateur or semi-pro!!!!!
