DCRP Review: Nikon D7000
4.5 Star Review  DCResource - Mar 18, 2011

The Nikon D7000 is a full-featured midrange digital SLR that should satisfy just about anything enthusiast. It offers solid build quality, very good photo quality, tons of manual controls and custom features, a beautiful LCD, Full HD video recording, and lots of optional accessories. And, there's not much to complain about. The biggest issue I had with the D7000 was that it really loves to overexpose, usually by 1/3 or 1/2 stop. The live view feature could be better -- where's the live histogram and phase detect AF feature? In terms of design, there are way too many buttons, some of which are not well placed, and the release mode dial is a bit clunky.

5 Star Review  Imaging Resource - Dec 31, 1969

The Nikon D7000 digital SLR is a refinement of the already superb D90, a redesign that maintains a small, nimble body while improving nearly every major internal aspect. Its 16.2-megapixel sensor and Expeed 2 processor conspire to output quality images at all ISO settings, from 100 to 25,600, cranking those images out at up to six frames per second. The Nikon D7000's 3-inch LCD sports 921,000 dots, a great place to compose images in Live View mode, as well as check focus. The Nikon D7000's high-res LCD is also excellent for shooting and playing the 1,080p videos that this digital camera captures, and menus are razor sharp. Dual memory card slots, 39 autofocus points, a new color-sensitive meter, a near-100% viewfinder, and in-camera editing round out just a few of the extra features found in the Nikon D7000. Nikon's top enthusiast digital SLR camera is as easy to recommend as a cold glass of lemonade on a hot Summer day, and at least as satisfying. Check out our Nikon D7000 Review!

4.5 Star Review  ephotozine.com - Nov 3, 2010

The street price may seem a little high when compared to that of the D300s, but many may find this a better choice overall due to the lighter weight, automatic assistance on offer and even the in camera editing functions, which are amongst the most comprehensive Ive seen. For me the D7000 fills a gap in Nikons line-up that many photographers, especially many who frequent this site fall into.

4.5 Star Review  cameralabs.com - Dec 12, 2010

The D7000 is a powerful and feature-packed DSLR which once again illustrates Nikon's canny ability to satisfy the desires of both gadget fanatics and traditional photographers. Unlike some rivals which concentrate on the latest gadgets, Nikon never loses sight of what traditional photographers want. So along with 1080p movies, a microphone input, dual memory card slots and autofocusing while filming, the D7000 also features faster continuous shooting, greater viewfinder coverage, more sophisticated metering, and above average construction for its class. There's something for everyone here. In theory this makes the D7000 one of the most powerful mid-range DSLRs on the market, albeit one of the most expensive too. And while the performance and feature set are both impressive, there are a number of caveats to watch out for in practice, such as a smaller than expected continuous shooting buffer. See for yourself how the D7000 measures-up in beautiful Queenstown, New Zealand in our detailed video demonstration, and compare its image quality against the older D90 and arch rival, the Canon EOS 60D. Everything you need when shopping for a mid-range DSLR is in our review at Camera Labs!

4 Star Review  cnet.com - Nov 30, 2010

THE GOOD: Excellent performance for its class; great viewfinder; control locations and operations streamlined over previous Nikon dSLRs; double SDXC-compatible card slots. THE BAD: No 1080/30p video. THE BOTTOM LINE: An excellent dSLR for experienced shooters or Nikon professionals looking for a relatively cheap option, the Nikon D7000 delivers on almost all counts, including the companys best shooting design to date.

Nikon D7000 | Body only
4 Star Review  productwiki.com - Mar 23, 2011

The Nikon D7000 is a midrange digital SLR released as a successor to the Nikon D90 (08/08). Featured is a new 16.2MP sensor with an Expeed 2 processor for 14-bit processing, which means a better dynamic range; a more sophisticated autofocus system rated between the D90 and D300 in sensitivity; and a viewfinder with 100% scene coverage. But more importantly, the D7000 is the first unit from Nikon to offer full 1080p/24p video footage (720p/30p also included), not to mention the incorporation of full-time autofocus while capturing video. Like the D300 models, the D7000 is also dust and moisture sealed. Additional features include dual SD memory card slots, a 6fps burst mode for 100 shots, and custom settings available via the mode dial (versus a menu interface). Features Midrange DSLR All-Metal Chassis Magnesium-Alloy Covers Dust/Moisture Sealed 16.2MP Sensor Expeed 2 Processor 14-Bit Processing 1080/24p and 720/30p Video Capture Full-Time Autofocus during ... PROS: (1) professional class magnesium alloy body (2) 16.2Mp CMOS sensor - improved ISO / noise performance over the previous generation (3) 6fps continuous shooting (4) faster EXPEED 2 image processing engine - less lag time gives the photographer much more control with no preemptive action needed (5) increased usable / available ISO range 100-6400 - extendable to 25600 ... CONS: (1) $1200 body-only price point is a long way from the current generation step down model (the $600 D3100) (2) no internal GPS

Competent, capable, low-light adept
4 Star Review   By qixote on Adorama - Aug 27, 2013

I love this camera! Used for: nature, candids, astrophotography and more. Pro: Quiet for an SLR, great in low light, options for turning off NR, good overall ergonomics, excellent screen and zoom in to check image sharpness, etc., handy controls for setting release to e.g. remote/shutter up. Con: Tricky getting sharp manual focus with 2x teleconverter and 70-300 zoom. Probably just me. Storage media door opens too easily when simply grasping camera body. Battery gets used up fairly quickly, but a lot is being asked of it.

5 Star Review   By Dick the Clicker on Adorama - Aug 13, 2013

I bought this camera because I believed it to be the closest to a fully professional camera body that I would ever be able to afford. It has not disappointed. As this purchase is still very new, I am still learning the multiple things the camera can do. Mostly it is used for landscapes, seascapes, wildlife, and flora photography. It has also been excellent for indoor shooting. So far, it is proving itself to be one fine camera. Highly recommended!

Nikon D7000 (Body only)
4 Star Review   Crutchfield.com

Crutchfield has collected 20 user reviews for this product with an average rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars. The most recent reviewer said, "Let me first say that for the past 43 years I have been a camera-oholic. My photography experience, though non-professional, is very extensive. This D7000 is my first digital Nikon and I love it. This camera body delivers a well balance mix of dedicated customizable controls, logical design, quality construction and a feature rich menu system that I find easy to use without insulting my intelligence. I consider myself a control freak, the D7000 gives me the power to control how the camera controls operate. As I was setting this camera up, using the supplied manual, I was pleasantly surprised to learn how much control I now have. For example; White Balance, to a guy like me, who has been shooting with film most of his life, having the ability to change your white balance, at will, is a miracle. This Nikon has 2 auto white balance settings and 12 preset options, all of which can be easily fine tuned if you desire, plus the ability to capture, name and store up to 5 custom white balance settings. I've been taking a lot of random test and the images look so good on my computer I can't delete them even though they are just test shots! The colors look very natural, the sharpness is fantastic (Nikkor AF-S DX MICRO 40mmf2.8G Lens), and the contrast is awesome. Super Camera! "
