Nikon D5200 Review
4.5 Star Review  Imaging Resource - Jun 14, 2013

The Nikon D5200 may technically be geared for "advanced beginners" -- boasting an easy-to-use design and relatively affordable price -- but it also carries a considerable amount of photographic power. The digital SLR captures exceptional photos that rival those taken by more higher-end cameras, even in low light, thanks to its sophisticated 24.1-megapixel sensor and imaging processor. Add in Full HD movie recording, a relatively fast burst shooting mode and a ton of advanced features, and the D5200 stands as one of the best DSLR investments a fledgling photographer can make. Read our Nikon D5200 review for all the details.

Fantastic - Better than I expected
5 Star Review   By kenac on Adorama - Sep 6, 2013

This is better than I expected. I upgraded from a D40 and read reviews on the D5200 beforehand. Image quality is fantastic. Focus speed/Low noise images are incredible and the algorithms for AUTO ISO with minimum shutter speed and highest ISO choices are great. The choice and ability of user to customization sharpness, saturation etc are great. Controls are easy to use. I was thinking of delaying the purchase because of the lack of a touch LCD but the clicks of control buttons are actually simpler and quicker. The screen/icons are so small that touch is a drawback. Video images at low noise are great. The only thing is an auto focus lens 18-200mm motor is easily picked up in video mode. 50mm 1.8 lens motor is very faint and very usable. In any event I got an external mic which helps, and there's always Manual focus mode which is actually very usable with a little practice and which I intend to use. All manufacturer's SLR technology video modes experience the same noise issue. That will change over time with new technology. If you want mainly video, get a video cam but the resolution wouldn't be as good as an SLR. The swivel LCD is great especially shooting in crowds and ground closeups and if you are a senior with aging eyesight. The small form factor is great for travel. Easy of use is definitely a plus with logical button layout. It was a good decision.

Love the detail in this camera!
5 Star Review   By Sue on Adorama - Jul 24, 2013

Mostly nature photography, I had a Pentax K 7 this has been a great upgrade. I got the 18mm-300mm lens it is a bit heavy but I did not want to be changing lens all the time. I have not used the video feature, but I am very happy with the improved detail in this camera.

Big mistake
1 Star Review   By Ray on Adorama - Jul 11, 2013

I made the mistake of buying another Nikon camera hoping that after 10 years Nikon would have gotten their professional tech support act together. What I have been told from tech support is that you cannot connect anything to a Nikon camera that isn't mad

Terrific.
4 Star Review   By Captain Stereo on Adorama - Jun 18, 2013

Very nice camera. Still learning all the ins and outs. Moving from a D40 that only had 3 autofocus points, having 39 is awesome. Much quicker too. Recommended.

Some drawbacks
4 Star Review   By Markie on Adorama - Jun 15, 2013

I like the camera and I love the processor and for the most part I agree with all the positive comments except; 1. The battery. The battery is not the same as its big brother the D7100 or even, for that matter, as good as the D90. Its about half the life.

Good camera so far
4 Star Review   By JG from Akron on Adorama - Jun 4, 2013

I purchased this camera to replace a Nikon D5000. It was solely for an upgrade as the D5000 works just fine. I bought the body only and used the my lenses and external SB600 flash. While I have only had the camera for a little over a week, I like it. The

A great step up from entry level DSLRs
5 Star Review   By wingnut on Adorama - May 30, 2013

This camera replaces my D5000. At first I was shooting for a 7100; but after reading reviews and watching the video on adorama's web site I was sold on the 5200 and used the price difference to improve my lens collection. The 5200's biggest selling point

FULLY MEETS MY EXPECTATIONS
4 Star Review   By Pixel Perfect on Adorama - May 28, 2013

I was seeking a Nikon digital that featured a monitor that could be viewed from different positions, live view and high pixel count. The D5200 meets these criteria and the images are right on, too.

5 Star Review   By Bops on Adorama - May 13, 2013

Excellent Upgrade from the D5000
5 Star Review   By ahw on Adorama - Feb 12, 2013

The D5200 body was an upgrade from my D5000, I wanted the 39 point focusing system and it is a major improvement over the 11 point system in the D5000. Very fast focus and much less hunting than the D5000. 24mb jpgs do reveal slightly more detail than the
