3.5 Star Review cnet.com - Jan 26, 2012

THE GOOD: The Nikon Coolpix S8200 is easy to use, has an excellent feature set for its price, and has a lot of fun shooting options to experiment with. THE BAD: The S8200s autofocus can be slow at times, its flash is poorly placed, and its photo quality isnt for everybody. THE BOTTOM LINE: The Nikon Coolpix S8200 might not be as easy to recommend as its predecessor, the S8100, but its still a very good compact megazoom for the money.

3 Star Review productwiki.com - Oct 28, 2011

The Coolpix S8200 is a compact digital camera from Nikon that offers a step-up from the companys Coolpix S6200 model. Available in four different color options, this model features 16.1 megapixels and a 14x optical zoom for capture vivid still images and HD videos with a number of built-in editing capabilities for true user convenience. A backlit CMOS image sensor is included to provide advanced processing for optimal results in day or night applications, working alongside a lens-shift VR image stabilizer to minimize mis-shots caused by shaky hands or moving subjects. PROS: (1) Multi-selector function is very convenient - allows users to adjust flash, macro, exposure, self-timer and more without manually navigating through the menu each time (2) Camera feels "thick" and heavy in a good way - of a considerably higher build quality than prior Coolpix cameras (3) Shutter speed is remarkably fast for a compact digital camera - rivals some lower-priced SLRs in response time (4) CMOS screen display is bright and very clear - indicative of high-end build quality not usually associated with this price point (5) Auto-focus excels in bright light applications - similar to the units shutter speeds, this feature in comparable to many lower-priced SLRs ... CONS: (1) Flash component is awkwardly placed - very difficult to comfortably hold the camera without partially obstructing this area (2) Auto-focus struggles considerably in low-light environments - may cause frustration amongst users hoping to capture quick candid shots indoors (3) Pop-up flash cannot be pushed down manually - camera must be powered down each time the user wishes to retract this component

Great Camera
5 Star Review

Strengths: Awesome clear pictures, easy to use, face recognition, and choice of colors!

Weakness: Lens protection....I can't use my camera anymore because the lens got scratched when the lens cover slid open in my purse and apparently something sharp made contact with the lense.

I really loved this camera...and had no complaints until my lens got scratched. It was a gift and so there was no "product protection" to replace it. Other than that, it is a very good camera and I would recommend it to anyone.

4 Star Review By Spork3127 on Adorama - Nov 30, 2011

I bought this camera for my wife for an upcoming vacation. So far with minimal testing, I'm mostly happy with it. As a Canon user, it was hard to buy a Nikon, but this was the best bang for the buck and HUGE upgrade over the 5 year old Sony point and shoo
