Nikon Coolpix L2, L3 and L4 First Impressions Review
5 Star Review  Digitalcamerainfo.com - Dec 31, 1969

Some might call the new Nikon Coolpix L2, L3 and L4 “budget” cameras, though Nikon actually refers to them as their “Life” series. They provide sensors of 6, 5.1, and 4 megapixels respectively, and still offer good functionality with Nikon’s Exclusive Feature System for a price as low as $149.95, in the case of the L4. (The L3 lists for $199.95 and the L2 goes for $249.95.) All three cameras also have 3x optical Zoom-Nikkor lens and 2-inch LCDs of varying resolutions. Designed to compete with Canon’s popular A-series cameras, all three new models in Nikon’s L-series take easy to replenish AA batteries. To make them easier for beginners to use, the Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) have been redesigned and the cameras feature 15 or more scene modes, including four with Scene Assist which display framing guides to make shots easier to compose. They are all available this month.

Known fault with camera - preprare to be dissapointed
1 Star Review   By member mcb123 - Jul 20, 2007

Strengths: Great size, lightweight, easy to use

Weakness: Lens error fault

Lens jams open and you have to send it back for warranty fix. this has happened twice and the camera has been out of operation for 2 months. Avoid this camera

Coolpix L3 is a good buy.
5 Star Review   By member homedad103 - Jan 8, 2007

Strengths: Price. Easy to use for basics. Size. Decent options.

Weakness: No optical view finder. Short battery life. Slow flash reset.

I went to Target to get a camera to take pictures of the kids for the Christmas card. I told the salesman that I'd probably return the camera after a couple days and he didn't care. He said I might be surprised with the camera and I was. It's super easy to learn how to use and takes very good pictures too. I think some of the more expensive cameras have too many small buttons and dials for things that the average person will probably never use. You get a good bit for your money here. The size is great. I haven't attached the wrist cord because I always keep the camera in my pocket. Definitely buy some rechargeable batteries

Features are great for the price`
4 Star Review

Strengths: multiple picture modes - movie mode

Weakness: no view finder -- short battery life

For the price its hard to find a digital camera that has as many features, including video. I use a 1gig sd card so i can record an hour of video if needed. (That will require a fresh set of batteries) The sepia and cyan mode are fun. I recomend a tri or uni-pod for important picutures because it will blur somewhat. The scene functions make it easy to get the right setting for the pictures that are being taken.

GREAT Camera.... here's how to solve the battery problem.
5 Star Review

Strengths: Size and simplicity

Weakness: No view finder, but great sized viewer

Battery life is very very VERY short with regular batteries. I could only take 15 photos before regular batteries died out...BUT... someone talked me into rechargable batteries. I charged them for 10 hours the first time as suggested. I've since take 240 photos and still plenty of life left before recharging. So it was worth the investment of $19 for the set of 4 batteries and charger. The camera takes great photos... !!!

Great value for a nice 5M DC
4 Star Review   By member jeffchen1017 - Sep 9, 2006

Strengths: 5M, Good Color and Resolution

Weakness: Slow response, power button is too sensitive

Generally a good DC. Take nice pictures at most situations. In camera red-eye fix and D-lighting. You can crop the pictire in camera, even add voice to the picture. BSS function is very useful. It's a good buy for a low price of $138

JUNK!!!
2 Star Review

Strengths: Lots of really sweet features. Panoramic assist worked great, small and light, great software comes with it. Huge array of scenes to choose from.

Weakness: All those features are usless because camera takes blurry pictures.

Battery life? I didn't keep this camera long enough to find out how long the batteries lasted. I went on a motorcycle trip up to Mt. Evans. 3/5 of the pictures I took were blurry and useless. It was a cloudly day and the pictures that did come out were dark and with poor color quality. Later on indoors while visiting with friends the pictures were still blurry and useless. Would definantly not recommend this camera.

Awesome!
5 Star Review   By member valuesabound - Aug 24, 2006

Strengths: Color quality; Easy to use; Large monitor; Price

Weakness: I always have a little trouble getting the batteries out. Not a big deal.

This camera is awesome once you learn the ins and outs of using it. I was getting blurry pictures until I realized there was a "sports" shot I could use, then perfection! My photos have great color quality and blow up well into an 8X10. This camera is so great that even my five year old takes great pictures with it, NO KIDDING! She shakes the camera a bit when she holds it and the picture is still good. I have had the camera a month and I am very happy with it. I read a review stating how great this camera was, so I took a chance and bought it and I am glad I did! You won't be sorry if you purchase the NIKON Cool Pix L3.

Great value, great camera
5 Star Review

Strengths: Sleek, stylish, easy to use, and high quality

Weakness: No viewfinder, and typical AA battery life

I am very impressed with this little camera. Digital cameras can be difficult to use, but in this case, Nikon has made it very simple. Even though the camera doesn't have a viewfinder, just turn up the brightness on your LCD screen and you will be able to see everything even on bright, sunny days. For the price, you just can't beat it. 5.25 megapixels, a Nikon camera, a sleek design, all for under $160... Need I say more?

CoolPix L3 Nikon Camera
5 Star Review   By member papertiger - Jul 7, 2006

Strengths: Compact size, face focus feature, picture quality

Weakness: Battery life, close up picture

I was using 1.3 Mp Sony digital cam-recoder to take digital picture. I am very happy when I open the Coolpix L3 box. I have taken over 50 pictures in last 2 days. The picture quality were very good despite the day light or dim light conditions. The battery were run out very quickly under flash condition that may be the only weakness for this camera.

Coolpix L3
4 Star Review   By member jclaproth - Jun 16, 2006

Strengths: Many nice features for the price(bought for 170.00 @ local retailer). Easy to use, nice picture and video quality, and can zoom in while recording videos.

Weakness: AA powered, and lense malfunctions.

After conducting online research for an affordable and nifty camera, the L3 looked worthy; compact size, placement of buttons, 5< megapixels,etc... I visited the local retailer to test it out and noticed that the display camera's lense was stuck and made a rotating noise. I asked to check out one from their inventory and they were happy to help me. Later that same day, the lense got stuck just like the L3 on display. I'm very happy with the purchase, but i'm conviced that this likely occurs with the Nikon L3. So, its back to the retailer for me in hopes of receiving a better replacement.

Great compact camera!
3 Star Review   By member j_h - Jun 15, 2006

Strengths: *Credit-card size and about one-inch thin *5 megapixels

Weakness: *Some trivial features *No optical viewfinder *Little (3x) optical zoom

The Nikon Coolpix L3 digital camera slips easily into a pocket! It is less than one-inch thin and the lens retracts all the way, unlike the Coolpix L1 and L4. The 5.25 megapixel CCD allows for enlargements of about 8x10 inches! Some cons, though, are that there are some trivial features. For example, Face Priority AE, while it sounds impressive, doesn't work well and isn't really useful because the camera focuses on faces well without using Face Priority AE. Also, there is no optical viewfinder, and it is hard to see the LCD in bright light. I purchased a little pop-up LCD shade, and I can now see the LCD just fine in the sun! However, this camera only has 3x optical zoom. For $35 dollars more, you can upgrade to the Coolpix L1. It has 5x optical zoom and 6.2 megapixels. Unfortunately, the lens sticks out about half an inch so it sometimes gets stuck in your pocket. This is a great camera, but a little upgrade might be worth it.

Nikon L3
4 Star Review   By member john_t1234 - May 10, 2006

Strengths: Excellent photos, solid build

Weakness: No optical viewfinder

This camera takes really nice pictures, uses secure digital cards which offer better value than other formats and uses regular AA batteries. It doesn't have an optical viewfinder though, only an LCD. The LCD resolution is also not very high, about 85,000 pixels.

Nikon L3
5 Star Review   By member azcamp4 - May 7, 2006

Strengths: Size, easy use

Weakness: Battery life

I bought this camera for my daughter, She has since taken hundreds of pictures with this camera and has found that it is easy to use and take great pictures. She has no issues with this camera other than the battery life, it does tend to go through the AA batteries rather quickly, but we did kind of expect that. All in all I would highly recommend this camera for anyone looking for a small, dependable and easy to use camera for general photography.

Good camera with good features
5 Star Review   By member zakas16 - Apr 30, 2006

Strengths: Excellent night shots (better keep it on a stable platform to avoid blur) Good video recording with sound Good features including auto blurr detection Good auto flash

Weakness: Low battery life and thats about it.

I bought this camera from Dell with a 20% off. But after using it, for few outings, my wife and myself are very happy with the product. I would strongly recommend this product to anyone who wants an easy to use camera with excellent picture quality. In short a good buy.
