Fujifilm FinePix S4000 Review
3.5 Star Review  photographyblog.com - Jun 6, 2011

Until very recently, a 30x zoom lens on a digital still camera was unheard of, but there are now several models on the market that offer such an extreme reach. Joining them is the new Fujifilm FinePix S4000, which along with its 24-720mm optic, 14 megapixel sensor, 3 inch LCD screen and 720p movies, has an attractive street price of under $250 / £250. Does the S4000 cut too many corners though? Find out by reading our in-depth Fujifilm FinePix S4000 review...

3 Star Review  productwiki.com - Jun 7, 2011

The Fujifilm FinePix S4000/S4050 is an S-series, long-zoom compact digital camera released in early 2011. The top unit in the early 2011 series, the S4000/S4050 offfers 720p video capture, HD still capture, and WAV audio capture. The difference between it and its predecessors is that it hosts a powerful, 30x super-zoom telephoto lens for capturing precise details from an extremely faraway distance. Additional features include image tagging and auto social-network uploading, video transmissions via HDMI and USB ports, and both an LCD display and an EVF. The electric viewfinder was incorporated to give users a chance to take pictures with the precision of a DSLR. Features 14MP CCD Sensor Full HD JPEG Still Images 720p HD AVI Videos Fujinon 30x Wide-Angle to 720mm Telephoto Lens 3" TFT LCD Display Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) LCD/EVF Switch Button 6400 ISO No Internal Memory SD/SDHC Expansion Automatic Scene Recognition Red-Eye Removal Face Detection Multi-Frame Playback ... PROS: (1) affordable price point (2) 30x optical zoom (24-270mm 35mm equivalent) (3) dual image stabilization (4) uses AA batteries - easy to find and replace when on the go, rechargeable (5) records to the easy to find, affordable and capacious SD/SDHC flash storage ... CONS: (1) no manual zoom ring (2) uses AA batteries - larger, less capacious and more annoying than a rechargeable battery pack (3) lacks compatibility with the latest SDXC standard (4) odd image quality - overly sharpened to the extent that they look painted at 100% (5) somewhat large and unwieldy - designed to be reminiscent of a dSLR

zoom flexibility
4 Star Review

Strengths: Strong and clear zoom at x30

Weakness: Inflexible zoom

When using video feature the zoom moves at a pre determined speed . There is no way one can control the the speed. The speed is rather harsh and not smooth.

Fuji S4000 camera
2 Star Review   By member kingdom1 - Oct 31, 2011

Strengths: OK pictures, complicated to use.

Weakness: Unable to download from camera to computer. If you can get it to work it downloads all pictures each time, not just new pictures. One big pain in the A--. Not worth the money.

This camera is complicated to work. Should you get pictures, lots of luck downloading. It will download all pictures on the chip each time instead of just new pictures. Had to double blood pressure medication every time I attempted to download pictures. Suggest you look at other camera's instead of this one.
