Nikon COOLPIX S3000 review at Camera Labs
4 Star Review  cameralabs.com - May 30, 2010

The Nikon COOPIX S3000 is a quality point-and-shoot compact that will appeal to those who want a capable camera that offers some control over exposure (in the form of manual ISO sensitivity settings) but are more concerned about getting good quality pictures at an affordable price. To summarise its strengths, it takes excellent photos in good lighting conditions, has a very useable 4x optical zoom range with respectable 27mm equivalent wide angle coverage, and some great ease of use features including Scene recognition and face detection. But it's not without some problems, some of which are addressed by key rivals from Canon and Sony. See how the COOLPIX S3000 measures-up against the competition in our full review at Camera Labs.

Other advanced digital features common to both are subject tracking, where the camera detects and follows the subject even if it moves, keeping it in focus at all times, and, smart portrait mode with smile timer, blink proofing, red-eye fix, skin softening etc. Other features have been implemented to reduce blur caused by ... PROS: (1) menus are very intuitive, no instruction manual required (2) design has visual appeal, small, solid and shiny (3) simple operation, basic point-and-shoot with scene modes (4) indoor shots with flash are sharp and clear (5) gathers both shadow and hilight details in sunny environments ...
