Canon Rebel T3 / EOS 1100D Full Review
4 Star Review  Imaging Resource - Dec 31, 1969

In the last weeks of 2008, we reviewed Canon's Rebel XS SLR, a camera we felt to be a pretty well-rounded, despite a few quirks that led enthusiasts to look beyond the entry-level pricetag. Still available on closeout, the Rebel XS is now showing its age, and so the Canon T3 replaces that camera. As the new entry-level point to the company's SLR lineup, the T3 is an interesting design, gifting significant upgrades in some areas, and paring back features in others. Based around a newer 12-megapixel image sensor and DIGIC 4 image processor, the Canon T3 most notably increases the upper sensitivity limit to ISO 6,400 equivalent, and adds high-def video capture. It also adds two focus points, and switches to Canon's clever dual-layer iFCL metering chip, which takes account of color information when determining exposures. Canon has also slightly increased the LCD display size, updated the kit lens to provide an even more effective stabilization system, and cut the pricetag by another $100 below that of its predecessor at launch. What had to give, to achieve this? The Canon T3's new optical viewfinder has both lower magnification and a significantly tighter dioptric correction. Burst shooting speed and depth is also towards the lower end of what's available, especially when shooting in RAW or RAW+JPEG modes. In addition, Canon has removed the mechanical portion of its EOS Integrated Cleaning System. To find out whether these tradeoffs were worthwhile given the Rebel T3's aggressive pricing, you'll want to read our Canon T3 review.

4 Star Review  cameralabs.com - Jul 3, 2011

The EOS Rebel T3 is Canon's latest entry-level DSLR. It features a solid specification, packing 12 Megapixel resolution, 720p HD movies, Live View and a 9-point AF system into an affordable body. The question then is how it compares against rivals like Nikon's D3100? Both companies have adopted quite different strategies for their entry-level DSLRs. Find out which will be the ideal DSLR for you in our full review.

3.5 Star Review  productwiki.com - Mar 8, 2011

The Canon Rebel T3i (600D) is an entry-level digital SLR released in early 2011 as a successor to the T2i. Also featured is the option to shoot in more than one aspect ratio, a 6400 ISO expandable to 12800, and a 9-point AF system with an F/2.8 cross-type center point with a 63-zone Dual-layer metering system. PROS: (1) 3" Swivel Vari-Angle Display - 1.04M dot resolution (2) DIGIC 4 Imaging Processor (3) high resolution 18MP sensor - similar to the one on the previous generation T2i with potential improvements from the development of the 60D and 7D? (4) slightly remodeled body - improved design and materials over the T2i (5) records video in 1080p/30, 1080p/24, 720p/60 high definition - best in class video quality, resolution and speed ... CONS: (1) same 9-point AF, ISO range and 63-zone metering as found on the T2i (2) same 3.7FPS continuous shooting speed as the T2i (3) only priced $100 less than the 60D

Great Camera
5 Star Review   By Pilgrim on Adorama - Jul 9, 2011

Love the camera. Had Canon EOS film camera. Use the same lenses on the new one. My old Smart Flash unit works with the new one as well. No complaints for my needs.
