DCRP Review: Canon EOS-7D
5 Star Review DCResource - Dec 22, 2009

The EOS-7D is Canon's top-of-the-line APS-C digital SLR that fits between the EOS-50D and the full-frame EOS-5D Mark II. It offers superb photo quality, great build quality, super-fast continuous shooting, a nice LCD and optical viewfinder, Full HD movie recording, and more customizable buttons, dials, and menus than any camera I've tested. There's not a whole lot to complain about. Images can be overexposed at times, and highlights get clipped a bit more than I'd like. Getting the best image quality at high ISOs requires shooting RAW and doing some post-processing. And, as is usually the case, contrast detect autofocus in live view mode is quite sluggish. The EOS-7D is an excellent D-SLR that I can highly recommend.

Canon EOS 7D Review
5 Star Review Imaging Resource - Jan 15, 2010

In many ways the Canon EOS 7D stands alone. It's a digital SLR camera that can capture 18-megapixel images at 8 frames per second and 14-bit depth, with a quite usable ISO range from 100 to 12,800. The Canon 7D offers Live View, full manual exposure control while recording movies, Full HD movie recording, a new 19-point, all-cross-type autofocus system, a near-100% optical viewfinder, and built-in support for controlling up to three groups of Speedlite strobes. You can choose from one or two of those items with other cameras from Canon and other manufacturers, but if you want it all in one body, the Canon 7D is your only choice at any price. Printed quality is nothing short of astonishing, with images from ISO 100 to 800 looking great when printed at 20x30 inches. That you can get it all for $1,699 is pretty amazing. See our review of the Canon 7D for all the details.

Camera Labs – Canon EOS 7D review
4.5 Star Review cameralabs.com - Nov 8, 2009

Canon’s EOS 7D is the company’s most confident semi-pro DSLR to date. It may be positioned between the EOS 50D and 5D Mark II, but manages to surpass both models in a number of respects. It may not boast the full-frame sensor of the 5D Mark II nor its ultimate image quality, but the 7D handles better than any non-pro model yet. The viewfinder is large and accurate with LCD graphics, the AF greatly improved with a new 19-point zonable system, the continuous shooting a fraction below pro sports models at 8fps, and the built-in flash can finally act as a wireless transmitter. There’s also a choice of HD video resolutions and frame rates. It’s a very impressive camera, but the big question is how the image quality directly compares against the EOS 50D, 5D Mark II and Nikon D300s. Find out in our full review at Camera Labs where we used all four models side-by-side for several weeks. We also have video samples you can download, and a detailed video demonstration of the camera’s key features!

4 Star Review cnet.com - Dec 10, 2009

THE GOOD: Very fast; excellent photo quality; flexible autofocus system; big, bright viewfinder; streamlined interface; adds wireless flash control. THE BAD: Single card slot; some annoying small and hard-to-feel buttons; limited to three shots for bracketing; Live View focusing still slow. THE BOTTOM LINE: An excellent midrange dSLR, the Canon EOS 7D delivers for the money.

While the new Canon EOS 7D bears some family resemblance to the 50D and the 5D Mark II, dont get the idea its just another model with different resolution. Canon EOS 7D | with 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens
4.5 Star Review productwiki.com - Sep 8, 2009

The Canon EOS 7D is a high-end digital SLR camera due to be released by the end of October, 2009. This DSLR has dual DIGIC IV image processors for fast burst shooting, and is capable of 8 shots per second. With 18 megapixels, this camera’s APS-C-sized sensor has an ISO range from 100 - 6400, and a high setting of 12,800. Canon claims they have shortened the distance between the photodiodes and the sensor, which has decreased light falloff by half. This translates into better ISO performance in low light conditions. Targeted at the semi-pro market, the EOS 7D features full HD video (1080p) at 24, 25 or 30 frames per second. Users can shoot at 60 FPS in 720p mode as well. Improvements over Canon’s EOS 5D Mark II include a more rugged and weatherproof body, a dedicated button for RAW+JPEG mode, a new multifunction button on the top right, ... PROS: (1) 8fps continuous shooting (2) full 1080p video at 30fps, 720p at 60fps (3) 1.0x optical viewfinder with 100% coverage (4) large 18MP sensor (5) large high definition 3" display (920k dots) ... CONS: (1) 18MP sensor falls short of full frame

Is the Canon 7d Best in Class or is there another better camera?
5 Star Review By member DougB101 - May 26, 2013

I've owned the Canon 7d with a variety of Canon lenses since the original launch date. I've taken it hiking, fallen on it with my 100-400mm lens attached (no damage, it has a tough metal lens mount - whew), paddled with it on my 14ft kayak and 16ft canoe and really worked it harder than I should have. I've shot product images and love it with my 50mm 1.4 in low light. Mostly I shoot high ISOs for fast shutter speeds in low light. Owner's Review & Tips: www.squidoo.com/canon-camera-7d-review-best-price-and-tips I've shot tons of video using a Loupe & tripod with really beautiful results, several of them are on YouTube (DLB4NATURE).

wonderful camera
5 Star Review By kassie on Adorama - Sep 18, 2011

by far the best camera i've ever owned! the only drawback is when the camera is pointed downward, there is no way to lock the lens, so it pulls out and messes with your zoom and focus. other than that, there seems to be no other flaws. setting the setting

4 Star Review By Volthair on Adorama - Sep 11, 2011

4 Star Review By lenscap on Adorama - Sep 4, 2011

I shoot a lot of sports so I like the 8fps. I also shoot at night with a tripod and cable release and have little to no problems with noise. The in camera noise reduction at high iso speeds is great, I go up to 6400 at hockey games without a hitch.

Jumped from the film SLR world (Canon A1) to a digital (7D) just before leaving for an Alaskan Cruise and inland vacation. It was a learn as I went proposition, but with the two lenses I selected, I managed to collect some great photogenic art work, and a

Smooth ...
4 Star Review By StarGuard on Adorama - Jan 12, 2011

Worth the price. This was a big step up from my 6 year old Rebel XT and I cannot be happier with the performance. Lens is a little wonky at extreme zoom. Much better at macro and at around 50mm.

Good camera, takes practice
4 Star Review By Eric on Adorama - May 17, 2010

I tend to use this body mostly for wildlife action shots and landscapes. Partially because these are things I enjoy photographing, and partially due to the fact the camera has a very high speed burst mode. One functional bonus over the T2i (which has the

Amazing
5 Star Review By Rob on Adorama - May 9, 2010

I use this for professional video and started to get into some photography. I try to keep it under 800 ISO because anything over that seems to get grainy. It is an amazing camera and produces unbelievable video quality. For sound, I would recommend gettin

Will take some "getting used to"...
4 Star Review By Painting Photographer on Adorama - Jan 10, 2010

I sold my Rebel Xti, and was very excited about acquiring this camera. I feel a bit in "over my head" at present, but am going to get some tutoring on some of the many, many functions. It seems a bit fussier than the Xti, and I would suggest that,if you a

Good product. Highly recommended.
5 Star Review By JRodriguez on Adorama - Jan 10, 2010

The main use of the EOS is sport photography with low light. Adding another flash light than the one is built in, you will have a better quality picture. 8 frames x second at high ISO is good enough for me. I really like; it's wonferful.
