Nice camcorder. Its small and has a little weight to it......No video light.... Overall, its smaller, has great zoom, easy controls, good sound, records great videos especially outdoors, and the pictures are a little dull but can definitely capture good pictures. its aight.

Where is the built-in flash for stills?
2 Star Review   By HDRCX430V on Sony - Official Store - Sep 8, 2013

I bought this camera yesterday (9/7/13) after reviewing the Sony models available on the Sony web site. The Sony Store web site, under the "Features" section of the HDR CX430V model, says "The built-in flash will assist in shedding light on your subject when shooting still photos." The manual that came with my camcorder says nothing about the built-in flash and I cannot find it on the camcorder body. This was a feature I particularly wanted and one of the reasons i picked this model. So, WHERE is the built-in flash I paid for????

Don't get any models less than this one...
5 Star Review   By TheManWith2FirstName on Sony - Official Store - Jul 16, 2013

I bought this camera to replace my Sony HDR-HC1. The camera includes some amazing features. What I don't like about the camera- 1. Is there is no eye level viewfinder. I knew that when I bought it, but I wish it was an option. In order to get around that I purchased a LCD viewfinder for a DSLR. It works wonderfully, and can't really complain. Because the magnifier is using a larger screen, the image is much clearer. The only problem with that is I have to remove the magnifier to use the touch screen. 2. There is a door that covers the memory card and audio plugs. This door makes it hard to pull out the cards. Also the door has to be open to plug anything into the audio plugs. Since I am planing on running an external microphone, the door had to go. Not an easy thing to remove, and it will never be able to go back again. All in all the camera is terrific, and I look forward to some good quality videos.

Disappointed in quality for price
2 Star Review   By bybynyny on Sony - Official Store - Jun 29, 2013

I just returned from vacation with this video camera. The indoor shoots are very grainy and most outdoor photo shots are not useable. I switched to low light setting with no help. The outdoor video was okay if we had sunshine. The only major improvement over the earlier model I had was the new type of image stabilization. It really helped the video to be smoother when you are walking or panning across an area. The slow motion video record is terrible. The color is flat and out of focus. Expensive camera with border line quality at this price.

5 Star Review   By FLSouthPaw on Sony - Official Store - Apr 20, 2013

I am very happy with this camera so far... It does everything I need it to do and more... The HD video is very good and the 30x zoom is great... The auto settings do pretty good in all conditions... I don't care that the still images are grainy and awful because I got it for video... IT DOES NOT HAVE A BUILT IN FLASH like the Sony site says or at least I don't see one... The manual mentions nothing about a built in flash... There is a place in the cameras menu but it does nothing... I believe it is for an external flash... I will be calling Sony... You can see my unboxing and test video on youtube... Just search for XMSMLL and you will see it on my channel... there are 2 parts... I first bought the CX290/B and it just didn't cut it... then I got the CX380/B and returned that before even opening because I just had to have the BALANCED Optical Steady Shot... well worth it...
