4 Star Review   By EverydayAdventures on Sony - Official Store - Jan 18, 2014

Nice product with great image quality. It has few cons like: - long minimum timelapse delay - 5s, - no tripod mount without case, - housing needs anti-fog sheets. But overally I would recommend it ;-). You can check sample footage: www.youtube.com/watch?... 10 hour long, hardest, most dangerous and most beautiful trail in Polish moutains in 7 minutes. HD and full screen is a must. It's worth watching from the beginning to the end, but real action starts at 0:57. Shot with Sony's Action Cam.

Stabilized, 1080p60, slow motion p120 - HDRAS15
4 Star Review   By betterworld on Sony - Official Store - Nov 10, 2013

#PROS: 1. The stabilizer is a big deal. 2. HD mode 1080p60 now after the firmware upgrade v.3. 3. The Super slow mode 720p120 is a great option. #CONS: 1. The shape factor: nicely fit into hand grip, but I would prefer rectangle bottom to put on a table. 2. The back door is too loose. 3. The waterproof case is great option for underwater shooting but too big for water-resistant conditions (like snow, some rain). I would make only one back door for everything (battery, memory card, USB, video out, mic) and touch sensitive screen for controls, OR a remote control (for those who has no smart phone). I would also cover the mic with one big waterproof removable plastic screw which one can remove with finger nail or a quarter or dime (or small ridge on the top). A tight case from soft plastic will probably also make it water-resistant (two oval cylinder caps inserted each in the other (one smaller and one bigger, one with a hole for objective, see the picture attached). Is it possible to make it a night vision (IR camera) option within same size?

Sony Action Cam with Wi-Fi
4 Star Review   By rcmarc on Sony - Official Store - Sep 29, 2013

The camera shoots a nice video but we have encountered problems that should not occur. The camera will turn itself on and film. We have learned not to put the battery in the camera until we are ready to film. With the rubber o-ring around the door, the camera heats up the inside of the case and causes condensation and the case to fog up. We have what we thought would be wonderful video but the video is fogged up. We removed the o-ring from the door and that solved the problem but then the case is not water tight.

Busy Mike Flying
5 Star Review   By Crazyoldbaldguy on Sony - Official Store - Sep 25, 2013

I purchased for use boating and friends & family gatherings. This weekend my new pilot friend invited my to fly in a small four seater. I hadn't set up the Wi-Fi yet but the shots I captured taking off, in flight, landing, and on the ground were exceptional when viewed. The depth of field clarity is excellent close to far. The Pilot's head hairs were very clear and the ground 3000 ft down very clear in the same shot. Simple push button start/stop. Action crisp.

Surprisingly smooth
4 Star Review   By DianaElizabeth on Sony - Official Store - Sep 22, 2013

I decided to take this on a road trip though Ireland. I didn't mount it correctly and only used those velcro stickies and stuck it to our dashboard. I was surprised at how smooth it was considering the roads that we drove on were not. You can see some of the video clips here: youtu.be/4UGuBGUzLLk.... I only wish I could have found a way to have it outside so it could have shown how beautiful and vibrant the scenery was. Unfortunately I had it in the case and also inside the car so it had 2 plastic/glass barriers making the shots not as vibrant. I'm looking forward to using it again on our next adventure. Hopefully snorkeling somewhere exotic!

great cam
5 Star Review   By keason11 on Sony - Official Store - Sep 8, 2013

I have used this cam for track days on my motorcycle both mounted to the bike and my helmet. I have used it to record the first moments of my daughters life! The clarity is fantastic, the video is great! My only complaint is that on cool mornings the lens fogs when I ride with it, I haven't tried to anti fog sheets yet but this could be one improvement to take it up a notch. Overall extremely pleased!

Where's the engineering?
2 Star Review   By Chinasyndrome on Sony - Official Store - Aug 1, 2013

What has happened to Sony's engineering. I've been purchasing sony hardware and software for decades.Going on reviews I purchased 2 camera kits from Tanguay ($299) The picture quality was the noisiest I've ever seen. One camera was already opened and dirty and the other was missing a battery tray. I shot a short piece with the camera mounted on a pico dolly looking out a big bay window with 4 sections. the first and last panes were the proper colour but in the 2 center panes the sky had turned turquoise. Super grainy and extremely noisey in moderate light. And it was the same for both cameras. This product is good for kids shooting a day playing. If your serious about getting a POV shop up as this camera is worth about $100.

amazing camera
4 Star Review   By skierforlife on Sony - Official Store - Jul 31, 2013

I absolutely love this camera, i use it for all of my outdoor adventures, everywhere form skiing, to biking, to quading and snowmobiling. this camera runs very smooth and even in bad crashes, has never had black screens or even small hiccups. when skiing and snowmobiling there is always snow that flys up but the snow doesn't not stick to the lens thanks to the rounded lens. overall a very good camera and never skips a beat (or frame).

4 Star Review   By NosenseGio on Sony - Official Store - Jul 24, 2013

I bought this camera for the price and i was surprised for the overall quality. I think this camera is better than Gopro Hero3 Silver with lower price, and now with new firmware we have 60pfs in the fullhd resolution. In my opinion this camera could be perfect if there will be a new firmware that: - enable photo at full resolution, because now photos have low quality - enable still photo (timelaps) with more option, lower interval (now the lower is 5 seconds) Giovanni (Italy)

Full HD Video, Waterproof, Built-In WiFi, Exmor R CMOS Sensor, Ultra Wide Angle Carl Zeiss Lens, Micro HDMI Out. Muffled Audio Inside The Case,Out Next/Prev Buttons Unreachable Inside Case. Altogether a great POV cam, I would recomend putting a 4K sensor on the cam, like the GoPro Hero3 Black Edition. Thanks, SB

Love my Sony Action Cam
5 Star Review   By Lamb on Sony - Official Store - Jun 6, 2013

Just wanted to throw my two cents in on my Sony Action Cam HDR AS-10, I love this camera, easy to hold in your hand and film, easy to mount onto different things, hoping to get the handle bar mount for my bike soon, check out my video on YouTube Kings Island's "The Beast" roller coaster, it is known for being a rough ride but the steady shot took a great video all the way through. youtu.be/aCIpEf9DptM...

Sweet Action Camera - HDR-AS15
5 Star Review   By CrazyBiker on Sony - Official Store - Apr 28, 2013

The camera size (small), with built-in Wireless WiFi for live video monitoring during recording, transfer to smart phone and computers without cabling is very nice. Synced nicely to my Sony tablet S and was able to remotely view what I was shooting. Mostly though I attach the camera to my bicycle or carry it it my hand. Sony is coming out with a wrist attachment and a skeleton which will be awesome for hands free point and shoot. They are adding additional accessories as well which shows that Sony is committed to this product line. Also I just upgraded my firmware yesterday to 2.0 (through Playmemories. (it is on Sony e-support site as well). The firmware: 1) Adds the "PS" recording mode (1080/60p) Available for shooting smooth images in fast moving scenes using HFR (High Frame Rate) shooting 2) Adds the "WATER" mode scene selection Set to WATER mode for a suitable WB (White Balance) setting during underwater shooting 3) Adds the "BEEP" setting to enable the capability to turn off the beep sound Use this new menu selection to configure the beep sounds to one of the following available settings: - Both Rec and Setting beep on -Rec beep on and Setting beep off -Both Rec and Setting beep off

My favorite POV
4 Star Review   By warenfish on Sony - Official Store - Apr 15, 2013

I have a GoPro Hero2 and a Sony Action Cam. I honestly can't get rid of either of them because I love some of the features exclusive to each. First off, I bought this camera along with the door replacements. I have a flat lens underwater option, an option that allows for better sound by having holes in the case where the speakers are (not waterproof at all!) and I have the original lens. I used the underwater lens on a cruise where I spent most of the time snorkeling and playing at the water park with my kids. Amazing images and no distortion underwater. Great for this application! I use the stereo door for filming everything else unless I expect to be in crazy weather or intense dust/snow/etc. My wife uses this door for Youtube videos and loves it. I use the standard door for filming gymnastics POV, biking, skiing (water and snow) etc. There are only two things (maybe three) that I would LOVE to see with this camera. 1) Once I'm out in the field, I never want to take it out of the case. I would love a way to change between 120fps and 1080p and time lapse without taking the camera out of its case. This is partially remedied by the wifi app which is amazing and I love it...however, I want to turn the wifi off after i set it so that the battery lasts longer. If there were a way I could double tap the record button and it would toggle the wifi, I'd be totally happy with that! 2) I have to use my gopro when I go hunting. This one beeps and scares the animals. There is no way to turn off the sound, and to be honest, I'd rather get rid of my gopro and just use this camera, but the beeping is just plain unacceptable for hunting. 3) This has the least priority in my book, but the shape of the gopro allows for a centered chest mount. I wish the Sony Action Cam could do this as well. Not sure if there are any options out there for chest mounting, but I haven't found any. For all that I do, i would much rather lose that option and gain the standard tripod screw mount that the Sony has if push comes to shove. Proprietary plastic gopro mounts that break and cost way to much to replace are stupid. Sony definitely wins this battle. If all three of those happened, I'd sell my gopro and buy another Action Cam (maybe 2!)

Disappointed in this purchase
1 Star Review   By kiddynomite on Sony - Official Store - Mar 25, 2013

Based on some good reviews I purchased this for its low light capabilities and long recording time. Sounded like a good idea when I bought it . Unfortunately Ive found the low light capability to be very poor. Certainly less sensitive than the human eye and below a certain range it just goes black. Also Ive never had a video over 10 minutes actually get to the point where it would play on anything. Very disappointed in this purchase.

Great for Time Lapse
5 Star Review   By Jones1 on Sony - Official Store - Mar 22, 2013

I love this camera. It's more than just an action camera. you can shoot regular video and get high quality image AND stereo sound. mount it onto something and take sports or action video and the steady shot makes even bumpy rides into a very smooth video. Time lapse is absolutely awesome. So far I was able to take 2025 pictures with one battery (5 second intervals). That was about 3 hours. low light time lapse isn't as great, but still better quality than other action cams out there. day time is crystal clear images and here's a time lapse of the sun going down at the beach for an example. Overall, very fun and easy to use and works very well for great quality!

Action Cam for Golf Swings and V1
1 Star Review   By balticzephyr on Sony - Official Store - Mar 15, 2013

I was excited to finally purchase a Sony camera that could connect to the V1 software, a golf swing analysis software for the iPad and iPhone. The only problem is that you cannot see where you are aiming the camera as there is no visual screen, so many attempts I got the feel and lower body, then the upper body, then I was too close, then too far. The 150 fps which is the maximum is blurry, you still cannot see the hands clearly at impact. The camera is a big disappointment, and two days ago I was charged $269, now its $249, with shipping etc I paid almost $300 and only got the camera four days later with two day shipping. I love Sony cameras, and have three which I own, but this as a golf professional is a big disappointment. As a golf teaching professional don't waste your money on this camera.

Better and Cheaper than GoPro!
5 Star Review   By Ogden1 on Sony - Official Store - Feb 20, 2013

The best night shooting, clear sound (better more sound than less), Very good image stabilization while driving, overall, a great cam with WiFi for the price! But keep in mind about the suction cup, this thing, just blows! It's impossible to use it on front windshield, even with the extension..

Great but could be awesome!!!
3 Star Review   By UgoBugo on Sony - Official Store - Feb 9, 2013

Like the title says great but could be awesome. The audio capture on this thing is the best for a pov camera hands down. I also have a gopro and a contour HD. Sad it is unable to rotate the camera head like the contour for different mounting options or be able to flip the video 180 degrees like a hero. Yes it can be done it post but still annoying. Also the photos are only 2 mp an the timelapse interval starts at 5 seconds WTF. Here is hoping a firmware upgrade will correct the photo image quality and give better options on the timelapse side of things. For the price it is a great little camera, picture quality is good ,audio is awesome and when in live view using the app you can watch realtime while recording unlike the gopro that has a huge lag. Sony you have Vegas editing software in house. It would be nice to see a toned down version to make life easier as Play Memories not so great............ Cmon Sony give us a firmware upgrade to fix a few of these quirks......but all in all it is still a great little pov camera and won`t disappoint.

Excellent Exmor R sensor , Slow motion 120fps
4 Star Review   By MGTMortgage on Sony - Official Store - Jan 13, 2013

I tested on ski hills ,moguls, lots of shocks even to -30 C temperature , Sony did excellent research in design its Exmor R sensor, very good at poor lighting conditions , it gave the best slow motion 120fps (1280x720p only) capture so all your high vibration actions can be watched on big screen without headache or dizziness scene. In SONY corp. The chief designer of this action Cam understand a lot about movie production, he knew that you must be able to capture a clear, nice and steady motion picture so that after editing plus adding music and narration all your audiences love to watch your presentation. Sony had lot of experience in making Top- of- the- Line Movie Production Cameras. Sony AS-15 had built in all the necessary tools for capturing your shocking footage in tough environment , even adding image stabilization to help you to produce your best movie for presentation. I had use some of my action footage editing in Final Cut Pro X , making a movie of my skiing trip, no one feel dizziness, everyone enjoy watching. Sony's raw recording format is Mp4,require transcoding to Apple ProRes 422 before ingestion. Takes a little more time . Final Cut Pro X could do back ground transcoding. Exmor R sensor is superior than those in GoPro. Sony AS-15 Housing is also excellent for use in SCUBA Diving up to 180 Ft water proof. NO other P.O.V. Cam can give you this advantage today as Jan.13. 2013. I could use this AS-15 as a backup hands free under water Camera especially in CAVE Diving. Excellent for mounting in front of an under water Diving propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Those use by Naval SEAL. Sony MUST improve all the possibilities in mounting option including a micro BALL JOINT mounting platform in module design , like LEGO blocks can be assemble any way you want , in any situation you need. SONY you are good at listening to expert opinion when designing your Pro Cam FS-700, Please give your Action Cam to different action experts to try to mount and use. e.g. Skier, snowboarder ,Surfer, Sky Diver, Scuba diver, Mountaineer, rock climber, Racing Car driver, Stunt man.... Snow mobiler, Skidooer , Military special operation units, Fire departments search and rescue unit......also movie production director....see what mounting options may be need to improve your die hard camera . Next .. you must improve to 240 fps and at 1920x1080 p. because other POV cam brand manufacturer knew the advantage of slow motion capture is vital for beautiful and enjoyable movie production to please their audiences . Go Pro will catch up soon. Other brand name Point-Of -View (POV) Cam , others battery did not last that long in freezing cold -24.5 C for over 4 hours, I believe the AS-15 housing protect its Li-ion battery good enough. Sony's NP-BX1 is 3.6V.,1240mAh last very long, because of As-15's Auto energy saving ,auto shut down feature is excellent. Sony'As-15 also had a large red button 100% positive feedback when Press plus immediately wake up your camera to shoot within 1 Sec. I can press it to record my action even wearing thick mittens in -30 C wind Chill, on top of Sunshine Village Continental Divide , Alberta, Canada. Also give a Chime signal confirm ON, different beep sound for OFF. I can hear those chime when the wind is not too strong and loud. Go Pro Action Cam did not had these. But Go Pro's CEO is a die hard action hero, he knew everything about mounting option so that they create almost all kind of mounting option ,even a ball joint mount that can be tilted at any position , allow mounting on your helmet filming your own facial expression . Excellent for filming SKY DIVING, the SkyDiver can see his facial expression plus the vertical drop scene that he is away from his plane farther and farther away. But their footage is too much vibration . Even I put it in editing software to do retiming ,slow motion is still not as fluid as those original footage created by Sony AS-15.

Good camera
4 Star Review   By aski on Sony - Official Store - Dec 29, 2012

Just perfect for its weight and size, like the idea of using this cam via phone. Please Sony, add in firmware upgrade possibility to set manually ISO value, white balance and shutter speed for images. Just one more 'quality' to select called "manual", this would a killer for longer timelapses and some action shots where images are supposed to be bit blurry to create sense of speed.

3 Star Review   By xzcvczx on Sony - Official Store - Oct 30, 2012

Its a great camera that i have used for many different things, including white water rafting, using indoors and it hasn't failed me, but there are a few things that need to be changed, adjustable and added to really be worth 5 stars, these include 1. Side helmet mount 2. Ability to change the playback fps for the videos shot at above 30fps.. This would also affect whether sound is recorded at the higher framerates, (or a way to record the sound seperately and it could be added into the movie later), (I fail to understand why the video is all written to be played back at 30fps)... If this feature is not introduced i doubt i will stay with sony as its really annoying try to show someone a video when its not got the right framerate for real time and being unable to have audio on it, as for action sports 30fps really isn't enough. 3. Ability to change the volume/mute the tones when starting/stopping recording (When used with the top helmet mount inside the waterproof case it is almost impossible to hear the tone and whether it is the start or the stop tone) and it could be useful to have it silenced at times.

A failed attempt
1 Star Review   By L1tech on Sony - Official Store - Oct 16, 2012

I have been waiting a long time to purchase a pov camera and hoped this one would be "the one" Picture quality on this camera is excellent however the fun stops there. There is no way to conveniently mount this camera so you can do anything with it. Other than a headband mount this camera must be in the case to mount to anything and once you put it in the case you basically lose all sound and as others have mentioned there is no way to adjust the camera settings once the camera is in the case. The supplied adhesive mounts are useless. The curved one, which I assume is meant to be applied to a helmet, is so large that the curve of the mount will not lay flat against any of the 3 helmets that I have tried it on but if you were to get it on a helmet there is no way to aim the camera how you want it. The goggle strap mount sounds like a good idea however once the camera is put into the case it more than doubles in weight, this weight is not able to be supported by the goggle strap, no mater how tight the strap is, in any activity more strenuous than sitting on the couch so you end up with a camera that is constantly bouncing off of your helmet, which the noise ends up in the video, and a picture that is so unstable...image stabilization can not even begine to compensate for this...it makes you sick to try and watch it. As for the WiFi portion on the camera, I have 2 identical Android phones, one has a old operating system and one has a newer operating system. On the phone with the old operating system the wifi app works flawlessly, however if you have a newer android operating system chances are that the wifi will not work at all. Unless Sony or the aftermarket come out with some new ways to mount this camera so that it actually works buy the GoPro and don't look back

Misses the purpose.
1 Star Review   By Lens4life on Sony - Official Store - Oct 13, 2012

I chose this camera over the new contour because of its price, stabilization, quality optics and 120fps support. I do think that for these advantages it was a good buy, but the main purpose of this camera is missed - diversity. The contour has an infinite number of mounts, which all allow getting the exact angle you're looking for. They even have a rotating lens to allow mounting the camera just right no matter what. With Sony, you can't rotate the lens, and they haven't even made up for it in accessories. The headbands do not swivel or tilt, so if you put them on a little crooked, and you will, the shot will be crooked. The only way to get a correctly aligned shot, is with tripod mounts like the suction cup mount or a tripod with a ball head. This means you have to use the protective case, the tripod mount is built into it, instead of the camera. Why is that bad? because the camera is much bigger with it, if it gets scratched as plastic usually does, you will see it while shooting, and the worst thing - if the camera is in the case, you have NO AUDIO, because the microphone is blocked, and the external mic jack is blocked. So you have an action cam with which you have to choose between getting a leveled shot or having sound. I've just ordered lots of straps and camera solutions, to try and make up for this silly design, and to have tilt and swivel abilities. It also lacks customization in menus- you can't turn off the beeps, you have very few options in interval shooting. So the picture quality is good and i get 120fps, but how does that help me if i can't get the shot i wanted? For the next version, try a better mounting solution with a better variety of mounting accessories. right now it's really not up to standard.

Great for slow motion
3 Star Review   By SBNP on Sony - Official Store - Oct 1, 2012

Just got this last week so I may update my review as I have more testing. I wanted something that could capture 120fps with decent res and this was the only action camera to do it. I already have a few Hero 2's and very happy with their image quality. The Wifi app is very flawed. You can't rename the cameras or wifi Passwords. Basically if you need more than one stick with Gopro and their wifi remote control. Mic is useless since you can't record from the waterproof case and there is no way to mount a naked camera. Seriously Sony, your competition is so flawed!!! you could have owned this, but now your audience is very limited. I'll probably keep this one, but won't get another since its more work than its worth. www.youtube.com/watch?...

Pretty amazing...
5 Star Review   By OlymWolf on Sony - Official Store - Sep 27, 2012

Just got this last night and it seems to be perfect for a reality show concept I'm shooting. Extremely compact, excellent video quality (particularly with Steady Shot) and the wi-fi works at some distance- tested at 50 feet so far. I do want to use it with an external mic- does anyone know the mic input specs- impedance, bit rate, etc?

Great optics but some serious design flaws
3 Star Review   By Tee1 on Sony - Official Store - Sep 23, 2012

I bought this camera the other day, and while I admit that I am not the target consumer of this product, I thought that I could make it work for my needs. I was looking for a good camera for interviews which could also be used for some stock outdoor shooting. I was not bothered by the lack of zoom or viewfinder - the small, unobtrusive size was to its advantage as well as the high res video specs. The problem is with the mount. The only way to mount this camera is by inserting it in the weatherproof housing...no tripod attachment exists on the body of the camera itself. The rounded bottom of the camera also means that it won't stand upright on its own. The external mic option was one of the main reasons that I bought the camera...I wanted to have good quality sound that only an external mic could offer. To attach the external mic you have to open the non-removable flap located on the bottom of the camera. Once the 3.55mm jack is in the camera there is no way to insert the camera into the housing or mount it on any device. I tried using the camera in the housing with the built-in mic but once it is locked away in the housing the sound quality is tinny and muffled; certainly not good enough for playback of any conversation. The internal mic amplifies the sound of anything that touches the housing but little of the ambient sound. Outside of the housing the internal mic works pretty well but must be hand held. I would love to hear some suggestions on how to use the camera with external mic outside of the housing on a tripod (not to mention any of the well designed accessory mounts). I'm thinking of removing the bottom door flap completely and using a rubber band to hold it in the housing attached to a tripod.

Almost Perfect
5 Star Review   By MrsC on Sony - Official Store - Sep 23, 2012

This product would be far above amazing if the case was from milled aluminum and that the lens had a different front shroud on it as I keep catching it and leaving finger prints on it. But gripes aside it mount s quickly and easily and very stably, all the components are top notch and polished to fit perfectly. The image is extraordinary just like everything else Sony I have works like a champ. Can't wait for the after market to make a picatany mount, and a swivel mount. Great Job Sony! If you buy it you won't be disappointed.

Almost perfect
4 Star Review   By GrantGriffiths on Sony - Official Store - Sep 12, 2012

This camera would be perfect if it had a rotating lens like contour or drift cameras. Unfortunately the cameras I have now do and I've found that's something I like a lot! Also, mounts for picatinny rails would be great for paint balling or shooting.

best bang for the buck
5 Star Review   By HDualsport on Sony - Official Store - Sep 9, 2012

Since this is a presale review, I can't really say much without hands on. With that said, compare the specs to any action cam competitor, and this seems to be the clear winner. The 120fps is phenonimal,(youtube is your friend) and the video quality astounding. The audio is crystal clear..out of the case. This is the Achilles heel with all sport cameras. You want a rugged waterproof cam, well you have to trade audio for waterproofing. Contours' roam just about got this part right. This could probably be remedied with an external mic. This leads me into my wish list.. Dear Sony R&D department: Since myself, and a slew of many others users are likely to use this as a helmet-cam for on/off roading, please develop a case which is both rugged and water "resistant"..I.E. rain, occasional splash, ect. without having to sacrifice audio. I would also like tight and tough articulating side helmet mount. (see pre named competitor) The goggle strap mount is a good start, but I feel may lead to some floppy shots. In conclusion, I have chosen to give Sony my money, and have already pre-ordered through Sonys' Amazon store, and am impatiently waiting for the 24th.

Potential Best Action Cam Ever
4 Star Review   By Diehard on Sony - Official Store - Sep 6, 2012

I would like to use the Sony Android App (to use as a view finder and control the camera settings) where there may not be Wi Fi available, as most (if not all) of my adventures take me far from civilization. Would this be possible?

What is the recoding length on a Memory Stick Micro 32GB. How long does the battery last for continuing recording on a 32GB memory stick.
