I would love to shoot with Canon "L" glass, but that is a little out of my budget. I did compare this to the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM, but decided to buy this lens after reading many reviews. The 70-300mm range is great, I have pulled in some wil

5 Star Review   By Scott B. on Adorama - Apr 23, 2012    ( See more reviews from Adorama )

Tamron's "SP" line of lenses is their top of the line. It stands for "Super Performance" and that is what you get with this zoom lens. It is faster than other 70-300 zoom lenses with a starting aperture F/4.0. Canon, Nikon and Sigma starts at F/4.5. That

5 Star Review   By jeff on Adorama - Sep 8, 2011    ( See more reviews from Adorama )

I also have the Tamron 18-270. The 70-300 lens gives a little extra reach, but more importantly, it is faster focusing, so its better for sports and my wildlife bird shots. Not so good when I want to get real close to something (less than 5 ft.)

4 Star Review   By Dave on Adorama - Sep 4, 2011    ( See more reviews from Adorama )

This lens has the best vibration compensation of any lens I've owned. Which is good on a long lens like this. Autofocus gets you in the ballpark and is good for most photos, but for the most critical photos, I go back to manual focus.
