The acclaimed Tamron 18-270mm VC all-in-one zoom for APS-C format DSLRs has reached an astonishing new level of compactness, performance, and speed with the addition of PZD (Piezo Drive), an innovative ultrasonic autofocus motor based on an advanced piezoelectric design. Signature features that have made this amazingly versatile lens the world standard in its class have been retained. They include a 28-419mm equivalent (15X) zoom range, an improved compact and lightweight Vibration Compensation (VC) system, macro focusing to 19.3 inches throughout, and, of course, superlative imaging performance. Technical Specifications: Focal Length; 18-270, Maximum Aperture: F/3.5 6.3, Angle of view (diagonal): 7533- 555, Lens construction: 16 elements, 13 groups, Minimum focus distance: 19.3 in (0.49m), Maximum magnification ratio: 1: 3.8 (at f=270mm: MFD 0.49m), Filter size: 62mm, Length: 3.8 in (96.4mm), Diameter: 74.4mm (2.9 in), Weight: 450g (15.9 oz), No. of diaphragm blades: 7, Minimum aperture: F/22 - 40, Standard accessories: Flower-shaped lens hood. TAMRON 18-270MM PZD B008 LENS REVIEW
4.5 Star Review  gadgetreview.com - Aug 16, 2011

The thing that makes this lens so amazing (other than the obnoxiously long name), is the fact that it has a 15x ratio! That means with one lens you can have anything in the equivalent of a 28mm wide angle lens, all the way to a 420mm telephoto lens. There is some distortion at full zoom, but that’s pretty much par for the course on a small lens with a large zoom; you’ll really only ever notice it on square or rectangular objects anyways (the sides will appear slightly bowed). It’s nothing that would even cause an issue – but it needs to be mentioned here so people understand that there are costs to such a large zoom.

Tamron lens works for me.....
4 Star Review   By BROOKLYN-CAMERA 2013 on Adorama - Nov 5, 2013

Works fine right out of the box.... More bang for your buck, better then purchasing a Canon for sure. Didn't use yet inside a rink. Will use on the 30th. of Nov. shooting an ice hockey at the Nassau Veterans Coliseum. Should shoot good with the light right down on the ice...I'll let you know after the game.

Getting Better
4 Star Review   By mikedidi on Adorama - Oct 25, 2013

When I received this lens, I could not wait to take photo's. I did, and initially I was not satisfied. Today I changed the shutter speed and I got much better results. The photo's are all clean and sharp, but my first batch did not look good when zoomed in while I was in Lighthouse. Today they were better and I find them acceptable for use. I did shoot a couple of video's using my 60D and the results were very good. I like the zoom range, the lightness and it is built strong. It is also quiet and quick to focus.

General Purpose Grap and Go
4 Star Review   By tripod2go on Adorama - Oct 15, 2013

I use this lens as the walk around from landscape to portrait when traveling. I have a 70-200, 120-400, 17-55 but what I needed was a lightweight lens that covered a good portion of this range and was light enough to carry all day. Also I needed to eliminate the need to fly(travel) with heavy equipment and reduce the need to change lenses often. Having used Tamron equipment the last 15 years I knew the quality was not an issue. I was upgrading my 28-200 therefore I looked at Tamron's 18-270. This lens did fit my needs and performed nicely. Yes I had to compromise a little over canon lenses or specific use lenses. Some images are softer than with the L glass, and I didn't have the reach of the 400mm but I got images I would have missed otherwise. This last trip I was shooting Landscape - beaches, farmland, the Cabot Trail highlands with gardens and street scenes in towns. I shot in high winds, rain, and sun without a problem. I did get nice sunsets, and hand held Dusk images so the VC worked fine. The F-stop range bothered me in the beginning with 6.3. I added this equipment to my bag as I scheduled to fly to Nova Scotia and PEI. Traveling from towns to rural settings the 18-270 was my Grap and Go vs heavier equipment. I used the 18-270 for 95% of my work in Canada and was satisfied. Highly recommend to have in your bag. a Little Guy that handles Big Situations!

This is the favorite of all my lenses.
5 Star Review   By Ernie J. on Adorama - Sep 10, 2013

My son and daughter-in-law liked my lens so much, that I ended up giving them mine, and purchased a new one. I use it a lot in my community theatre photography. I use all the tele. ranges from 18mm to 270mm with out any changing of lens. Great for nature photography also. I can not think of a better multi-use lens.

Nice, but kept my original 18-270
4 Star Review   By Jeff on Adorama - Jun 19, 2013

I have Tamron's original 18-270 and have been watching the 18-270 PZD until it came down in prize. I decided to upgrade and sell my older lens. I liked the compactness and small weight savings of the new, but when I compared the images to the older lens,

I bought this lens to take on vacation because I didn't want to carry around a heavy camera bag with several lenses, but I wanted the capability to shoot wide angle as well as telephoto shots. This lens gives me that capability.

A good over-all lens, but distortion
4 Star Review   By Sam281 on Adorama - Jan 9, 2012

I used similiar lens of 18 - 200 mm from Nikon and Sigma on D90 and D7000. They are all very similiar, the main differences I found are: Nikon 18-200: better image on edges and corners, but I do not like the zoom ring in the front, which can be easily co

Love to keep it on my camera. Feel like I'm ready for almost anything. Used the older version last year to shoot some great Eagle shots. Great clarity.

Much better pics!
5 Star Review   By Sandy on Adorama - Dec 28, 2011

I take a lot of garden pics and found myself stepping back with the 300mm lens and the regular lens wasn't enough zoom. Now I don't have to change lenses and my pics are much more clear and crisp!

3 Star Review   By annieb13 on Adorama - Dec 26, 2011

this lens is much lighter than my sigma 18-200 OS; it also has a greater range to 270. having said that , my sigma is a bit sharper through all ranges.

Great lens but not for full frame Canon EOS Camera 5D Mark II. Description should indicate this in lieu of me finding out after paying shipping from and to.

A great Buy!!
5 Star Review   By Bob-San on Adorama - Nov 11, 2011

This lens is my go to for outdoor photos, day and night. When shooting Halloween festival in my town, people saw the 18-270 lens on my Canon T1i and wanted to know what paper did I work for.

Great all-in-one lens!
5 Star Review   By Jim K. on Adorama - Oct 31, 2011

Purchased this lens for a trip to SE Asia on which I wanted to travel light. Perfect choice! Daylight shooting allowed for unlimited possibilities, nighttime shooting was great at less than 160mm zoom, above that was no better or worse than my Cannon 70-3

Versatile Lens for Amateur Photographer
5 Star Review   By KNL on Adorama - Sep 5, 2011

I am becoming more involved in photography, and this is my first non-kit lens. I wanted a versatile lens that I could leave on my camera almost exclusively as I learned. I've been experimenting with different shooting scenarios, and everyone consistently

Perfect travel camera
4 Star Review   By Bill on Adorama - Sep 4, 2011

This lens goes from a wide angle macro to a decent telephoto. One lens for most of my photography. I seldom have to change lens, cleaner sensor, and fewer lens to carry. Focus is fast and quiet. The IS does a good job. I am very happy with this lens. The

Great Walk-around lens
4 Star Review   By Wufman on Adorama - Apr 28, 2011

I got this lens to be an "always on the camera" lens when I am out doing casual photos or hiking or riding around. I like the zoom range in that I don't miss shots for having to change lenses. I have used it on one hike to take macros of flowers, portrait
