3.5 Star Review  productwiki.com - Jul 25, 2011

The Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED is an ultra wide-angle lens designed exclusively for Nikon DX-format cameras. This lens can zoom to 2.4x and can offer a wide-angle 109 degree view. This, combined with the smaller size and 16.2 oz weight, makes it an appropriate choice for travel photos, landscapes, cityscapes, and interiors. Focus is handled through a Silent Wave Motor (SWM), which finds the subject quickly and accurately with minimal noise. An internal focus system allows faster and smoother auotofocus. Image quality is improved within the lens through the use of three aspherical lens elements to eliminate lens aberration, and two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements improve sharpness and color correction. A Super Integrated Coating (SIC) also enhances light transmission by reducing flare within the lens. The rounded 7-blade diaphragm narrows the depth of focus and renders a more natural appearance to out-of-focus elements. Features Focal Length: 10-24 mm ... PROS: (1) excellent color rendition, images stay high contrast (2) interchanges with other lenses quickly (3) auto-focus is fast and accurate, snaps onto the subject right away (4) fairly light weight, wont throw the camera out of balance (5) feels sturdy and durable, built to last a long time ... CONS: (1) corners get soft at the wide end, around 10mm below f/8 (2) poor performance in low light conditions

Great lens for landscapes and cityscapes. If you've never used a wide-angle lens before, the perspective takes some getting used to, but that part of the fun of learning something new.

I work mostly in pet photography, but also do some commercial work. This lens rocks in both areas. It lets get as close as I want to animals and gives me incredible depth. For my commercial shoots, I can photograph the smallest rooms from any corner and get the entire room. This lens was well worth the investment.

Excellent Ultra-Wide for DX
5 Star Review   By rgc on Adorama - Sep 7, 2011    ( See more reviews from Adorama )

I'm new to the ultra-wide angle thing, so there has been a bit of a learning curve. Nevertheless, the lens does what it does extremely well, offering extreme wide-angles and infinite depth of field. There is significant distortion at 10mm, but that is eas

Great ultra-wide zoom

Great ultrawide zoom lens for DX-format cameras. Very low distortion for a lens of this type. Only drawback is the cost!

a GREAT lens
5 Star Review   By billBoy on Adorama - Sep 4, 2011    ( See more reviews from Adorama )

I've been ogling this lens for several years now, I finally purchased one and wish I had done it sooner. For indoor parties in small rooms it's fantastic. I find myself leaving this lens on the camera more than I thought I would. Simply a great lens.

When you need wider
5 Star Review   By Pictureted on Adorama - Sep 4, 2011    ( See more reviews from Adorama )

I considered other lenses, but none available combined a wide zoom range, ulta-wide (10mm) and high optical quality (and can use filters). Focus is quick and accurate. I usually stop down for depth of field, but have shot interiors at 10mm and f3.5 (at 1/

Go wide!
5 Star Review   By Mully410 on Adorama - Sep 4, 2011    ( See more reviews from Adorama )

Very fun lens. I mostly shoot it a 10mm and have learned a lot since I acquired this lens. Ultra-wides are not about "getting it all in." They are more about getting close. This lens focuses up to a couple inches in front of the front element.

As good as advertised

This lens is exactly what I needed to round out my collection! Everything I could say about it would only be repeating the words of better photographers, so I'll digress. It's great glass.

Wide and Sharp

This is a great companion to the 18-200mm. Its wide without the extreme distortion of a fisheye. I am going to use it for landscape and architecture.

Nikon DX Ultrawide Lens
5 Star Review   By Kenwj on Adorama - Mar 6, 2011    ( See more reviews from Adorama )

I have a Nikon 14mm-24mm lens and a D700 full frame camera. I obviously do not use this DX lens. However, my daughter has a Nikon D80 DX sensor camera and this is her favorite lens. She has always been fascinated by how dramatic the photos are that I take

Very useful true wide angle lens for DX
4 Star Review   By Delvin on Adorama - Feb 21, 2011    ( See more reviews from Adorama )

This wide angle lens is an invaluable tool for the enthusiast who needs to shoot indoors (such as for real estate listings, or decorators), or for sweeping landscape shots. It is also very powerful in that it can allow you to get CLOSE and shift perspecti

Fantastic Lens
5 Star Review   By RobbieHe on Adorama - Jan 13, 2011    ( See more reviews from Adorama )

Compared to the 18-55 kit lens, this one is much wider and faster responding. Wide angle photography adds a-whole-new element to picture taking - and this is the one to get for DX bodies!

A must have for DX format

Excellent!!! I have been using it since it came out and have no regrets. It may not be as fast as the Tokina 11-16 f2.8, but athe zoom range is more usefull and you just loose very little speed. There is a big difference between 12mm. 11mm and 10mm. Expen

Extremely fun wide angle for DX
4 Star Review   By member fraczekp - Aug 21, 2010

Strengths: Widest angle you can get (at this time) for DX, sharp, high contrast image rendering

Weakness: Other than minor complaint about distortion at 10 to 15mm, I do not have any. But such is the case with all ultra wide lenses, it's just that this one has bit more distortion than most lenses.

I was torn between the Nikon 12-24 and this lens for my DX ultra wide DX needs. I chose this lens due greater angle or frame coverage and I am glad I did. That extra 10 degrees of coverage is actually a lot! I also was convinced that this lens is sharper than its 12-24 brother. The lens ranks as a typical modern Nikon lens with good sharpness and good color saturation. For me, one small drawback of this lens is the perspective distortion when shooting under 15mm as you get closer to the edges (see included photos and keep in mind that each wheel or gauge is supposed to be perfectly circular). In my past experience I used Sigma 15-30 on film (identical frame coverage) and the distortion in my opinion was controlled better than with this lens. Keep in mind that generally this is not an issue when you are doing landscape photography but it might be a worry for those who use it for architecture and other scenarios (such as photographing inside of a submarine!) or for those who always have to find something to complain about! By any means, don't let that deter you from getting the lens - just accept the limitation of this lens and have fun with how dramatic your pictures will start to look! Overall I love this lens to a point where I gave up my plans of going to FX for a while - coupled with a fisheye I am in wide angle nirvana.

This is one sweet lens

I usually buy full sized, constant aperture glass, but couldn't on short notice with a job looming. This lens rocks, I'm very satisfied with it. It's not exactly internal focusing, but with about an inch of travel, it's barely noticeable.

I am really impressed by the additional depth this lens gives to any indoor shot. However, I am still not sure about how tough it is, but it sure does not feel as hardy as its predecessor - the 12-24 mm nikkor lens. The other reviews I read advised me to

Wide at Last
5 Star Review   By Ted on Adorama - May 27, 2009    ( See more reviews from Adorama )

This lens is tremendous - sharp, quick to focus (not that focus matters with the depth of field at these speeds and focal lengths), and a perfect wide angle range - 15-36 equivalent. I haven't run lens tests on this, but the far corners are sharp enough t
