Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II
4 Star Review  productwiki.com - Dec 14, 2011

The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II is a high-end external telephoto lens designed specifically for serious and professional grade photography; Nikon lists its uses as such; sports, photojournalism, and outdoor/wildlife photography. The NIKKOR 70-200mm ED VR II model includes what Nikon claims to be a "fast aperture" with a 2.9x zoom ratio and a 70-200mm focal length range. The NIKKOR ED VR II model telephoto lens is manufactured with 7 total glass elements designed with Nikons Extra Low Dispersion (ED) technology to help eliminate chromatic aberration (the failure of multiple lenses to converge images and colors on a single point; which leads to blurry and unclear photos while zoomed in). The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II has a minimum focus distance of 4.6ft(1M) and weighs a total of 54.3 oz. The Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II telephoto lens includes additional features such as a ... PROS: (1) sharp corners on both FX and DX cameras, even when shooting wide-open (2) vingetting is minimal and easily corrected in post (3) bokeh is as good as anyone could hope for, very smooth (4) color and contrast are exceptional especially when shooting backlit subjects (5) resistant to lens flaring enabling a wider variety of shots ... CONS: (1) priced too high for amateurs or casual hobbyists (2) weighs quite a bit, cant be carried around casually

Good for weddings and family events. Best for events where spontaneous photos taken from a distance yield better photos. Also a good close up sports lens.

So far so good
4 Star Review   By JMystery on Adorama - Jul 23, 2013    ( See more reviews from Adorama )

I bought this to shoot horse shows which are typically in dark arenas, and in other dark situations, as well as in normal light. I think asking to us to rate products after only a week of having them is too soon. That being said, the extra ounces that this lens and the 1.7 teleconverter,at the extra length does make it heavier than I thought. Despite that the Vibration reduction helps a lot. I've use in for three extended (a couple of hours) periods and have noticed that slowly might right arm fatigues and I don't notice it as quickly as I need to and cut a little off the top. As to pros, even with the T/C it is very clear and sharp. The T/C does create the lag others talk about when waiting for auto focus to kick in. Right now I use mine on a d7000 (am awaiting the D7100) and am 90% on the side of keeping it. It has a few more tests to pass first.

5 Star Review   By Houser on Adorama - Feb 5, 2013    ( See more reviews from Adorama )

I'm not sure I need to review the Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II. This is a bog-standard must-have lens for any professional, semi-pro, or aspiring photographer. Expensive, heavy, but one of the most beautiful focal lengths and exceptional image quality. I had read a number of reviews about the refurbished lenses and decided to save a bit of money (business expense) by going this route. Unless you need the box to sit in your closet and a 10-year warranty (I've yet to use one on any of my Nikon lenses), you will not notice the difference. This is every bit a Nikon lens. It has been refurbished by Nikon. By all accounts - look, operation, manual, etc - you simply can not tell that this lens didn't roll straight off the production line. I would highly recommend Nikon refurbished lenses and will be exploring more Nikon refurbished lenses as my kit grows.

I have spent the past year or so debating on whether or not to buy this lens. Ultimatetly, I decided to buy it after getting a little frustrated with my other lens (Nikon 70-300mm f/3.5-5.6) while shooting a dirt bike race that was taking place close to s

Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II lens
5 Star Review   Crutchfield.com    ( See more reviews from Crutchfield.com )

Crutchfield has collected 3 user reviews for this product with an average rating of 5.0 out of 5 stars. The most recent reviewer said, "I have been shooting a Nikon 80-200 2.8 af-d (push/pull) since I purchased it new in 1992. It was a great (is) lens but did not realize that the new 70-200 VRII was so,so,so much better. The focus is dead on unlike the 80-200 which would sometimes focus on the wrong spot. The 70-200 is brite and locks on fast. My first shot was in my living room at 82mm 2.8 1.3s and it was a good useable pic. I took a pic through my dirty window at a church 1-block away and it was super sharp at f5. I don't know why I waited so long to buy this lens. I worked with Drew at Crutchfield and he was very helpful and emailed me status of my order and followed up with me. This is truley great service and that is why I don't mind paying retail."
