Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6D ED Lens

Strengths: Great optical quality. Takes great pictures from far away.

Weakness: Not the best lens for indoors unless you have sufficient lighting. Auto focus a litle noisy - but who cares...

I am just an amateur photographer and enjoy taking pictures of my kids, vacations, soccer games etc. I upgraded from my Sony Cybershot point and shoot camera to a Nikon D50. Excelent Lens

Strengths: Optical clarity and ease of use Light weight and easy to carry arround.

Weakness: A little weak f5.6 @ 300mm other than that no problem!

The lens supprised me in it's optical performance. The Nikon ED lens is again worth the extra few dollars you might have to spend. The lens is very light weight and is easily carried along with out any hassel.

I own few other lenses that cover this range of focal lengths and so far this is one of my least favorites. Yes, it has a good focal length but by any means it is not the telephoto lens you dream of. It is good up until 200mm (nice and sharp with great contrast), and past that focal length things get really ugly. I have been rather dissapointed by the aberrations I get when I approach 300 mm. But...
