Description:

Highly practical and portable telephoto zoom lens. The five zoom groups make the length only 4.8. With rear focusing, the lens does not change length or rotate during focusing. Any filter effects therefore remain intact. It also makes auto focusing quick and quiet.

great lens for the price

Strengths: extremly light and small for a zoom lens with great photo quality results.

Weakness: Lens Barrel loosens overtime..cheap plastic looking.

The lens can't compare to a $3000 L lens. But for a $300 zoom lens, you are getting every pennies worth. Talk about compact. That lens is smaller than my Canon 20D. It is so light about 1 LB which is perfect for my heavy 20D body. It's not a greatest lens as I said, but it produces great quality photos for an average photo hobbist.

Canon EF 100-300mm f4,5-5.6

Strengths: light

I bought this lens for my Rebel XT.
This is my first 300mm lens. I am very satisfied with it. USM ring is really fast. Lens is preatty light and 12 cm long. I paid $279 I thing it is worthed money. I can not affort "L" zoom lens.

Strengths: Affordable, Good Optical & Cosmetic Quality when compared to Canon 70-300mm. Silent Ultrasonic Focussing Motor. Sharp Results

Weakness: Lens Barrel loosens overtime.

I was impressed by the sharp results of this lens. I use it on my Canon 10D and this is a very nice lens for the price. Tripod is a must for this lens when shooting at 200-300mm unless you are using fast shutter speeds. Can shake image very easily since it does not have canon image stabilizer built into it.

I upgraded to this lens from one...

Strengths: Ultrasonic drive; Sharp focus at all but longest focal lengths; Good amatuer long-focal lens;

Weakness: Poor in low light; Not extremely versitile

I upgraded to this lens from one with a micro motor and would not go back. That extra money gives you a much quieter lens that focuses much, much faster. I take sports photos as part of my job, and this lens is an essential tool. Mounted to my Digital Rebel it gives me an estimated 480 mm of zoom. The photos are sharp most of the way out as well. The zoom can also be a weakness to somebody...
