A lifesaving product in a desperate situation
5 Star Review   By member twinkles007 - Mar 19, 2008

Strengths: helped my baby to latch on due to inverted nipple and ease engorgement

Weakness: none that I can think of!

These nipple shields were recommended to me by my pediatrician because I had an inverted nipple. My baby latched on with no problem. Within a few days, my breasts became very engorged, so I was told to use on the other side as well. Within a few days, the engorgement went down and I was no longer in pain! I still use these on both of my breasts after a few months because it is my preferred method of feeding my girl. When I first used these, I was never told how to "properly" put them on. A lactation consultant told me to flip the nipple inside out about halfway and then put on the breast to create a suction over the nipple--they didn't fall off anymore! I tried the Avent nipple guards, but they were too stiff for my daughter to suck on right away. After a few weeks, however, she could suck on those and get her milk.
