great combo
5 Star Review   Home Depot

i've been using my 12volt dewalt drill with my 3rd set of batteries for a while trying to figure out what to buy. The lifetime guarantee on the batteries became a no brainer for me. the drills themselves have a perfect balance to them and a LOT of power! would definitely buy again (but dont have to because of the lifetime guarantee!)

5 Star Review   By techedteacher on Home Depot - Jan 18, 2010

i just picked this combo kit up to add onto my current 5 pc. ridgid set. the addition of a second impact driver and recrip. saw makes life on construction sites easier. also i purchased this kit from a local depot that was clearancing it at $149. the batteries alone would have been more than that. again, awsome tool set from a company that has decided to take a step ahead of the rest of their field.

Ridgid Tool Set
5 Star Review   By gem48 on Home Depot - Jan 5, 2010

I am very happy with the Ridgid Line and I am also happy with the staff at the O'Fallon, MO Home Depot, who have been very helpful with the selection of this item for my son. He is very happy with all of his Ridgid tools and so is my Husband. They especially like the fact that Ridgid comes with the extra battery pack and that it is guaranteed for life.

Exactly what I would expect from Ridgid!
5 Star Review   By AudioJoe on Home Depot - Jan 1, 2010

I got these tools in the mail a few days ago.My dad owns a construction company and got me on the Ridgid train early so when I came across this set I couldn't pass it up.Tons of power and plenty of battery life for what I use it for.I have used everything in this kit already and everything works great.Tons of power on the compact and impact drills. The saw works nicely for light projects, and the light is very bright and comes in handy in dark hard-to-reach places.A+ product.

Great Combo
5 Star Review   By Trade94 on Home Depot - Dec 21, 2009

I wanted to buy a light weight drill, end up walking away with this combo kit. What a sweet deal! The drill works great! No problem with the clutch as the other described. I used the high speed for driving screws. The clutch slipped as it is supposed. It did seem to clutch out at higher torque on speed 1. I guess it is just different. I checked the manual. It says: use speed 1 for high torque applications. Maybe they design the drill that way. Love the one handed recip saw. Very handy for small jobs.

Very Pleased
5 Star Review   Home Depot

Love the new RIDGID kit and tool design, light and comfortable and powerful. I use these tools all the time. Great performance in a much improved package. I see some other reviewrs have claimed clutch issues. Try drilling in speed 2 for high speed less torque and screwdiving in speed 1 less speed more torque and clutch works great.

Tools Work, Batteries Not So Much
3 Star Review   By JBerg on Home Depot - Nov 13, 2009

The actual tools in this combo kit work really well. HOWEVER, the compact batteries are HORRIBLE. You get very little run time on any of the tools. They are fine if you are doing a little job here and there but you need to buy the full 3.0A batteries at 100 bucks a pop if you want to do anything large. You only get about 10 cuts on the reciprocating saw and the battery needs to be recharged. Very disappointed in the batteries.

Combo Kit
5 Star Review   By SA45300 on Home Depot - Nov 11, 2009

Traded up to the Lithium. They have plenty of power and are easy to handle. The size of each is perfect. The work light on each tool is a plus. Drill - plenty of power, keyless chuck is great and work light makes it great. Impact driver - was not sure if I would like it. After using it, it is great. Saw - best feature is the quick release blade and work light. Battery charger - quick recharge time. Helps keep you working and not waiting on batteries to charge. GREAT PRODUCT!!!! WOULD RECOMMEND ANY RIDGID TOOL, HANDS DOWN!!!!

drill clutch bad
3 Star Review   By rjthedj1450 on Home Depot - Nov 9, 2009

I like the kit and the lifetime warrantee.. I'm on my 2nd drill in 1 week trying to find one that the clutch works correctly. I'm hopeful.. Set on "1," the drill just keeps on screwing in screws right through the wood. Then we found another drill on display that had an intermitent clutch. I'm looking for one that works like my old cordless. In other words, correctly. The impact drive works well. The batteries charge quickly and seem to last. The light works well. Haven't tried the saw yet but I will.

Best deal in cordless sets
5 Star Review   Home Depot

This is a fantastic set of tools. Very reliable and a fantastic warranty. Would buy again, but with this quality probably won't need to buy another drill. A lot cheaper in the store, $199.

Excellent purchase
5 Star Review   By Jmaxnova on Home Depot - Oct 30, 2009

So far I love this set. I have an old 18v Rigid Ni-cad hammer drill that has been great for years but I have wanted a light weight set for a while and when these went on sale they were the best value on a set with the impact drill. I have already got great use out of the drills. Can't beet the warranty either. Would definitely recommend this Rigid set.

Ridgid Power Tool Combo Excellent Buy
4 Star Review   By Willitgetdone on Home Depot - Oct 29, 2009

The old drill trade-in flyer got me into the store 4 days ago and I ended up with this Ridgid R968 Combo Kit. I have been very pleased with the tools. While I am not a contractor or tradesman, as a home-owner, my needs are for convenience, flexibility, versatility, as well as economy. This kit is good for starting off with a family of tools (Ridgid 18 volt slide-on battery). A family is what the home-owner needs, so that all the tools and batteries work together; you do not want to be buying a bunch of different chargers and batteries; plan ahead. The LED work lights on each tool are very handy. All of these tools are continuously Variable Speed with how far you pull the trigger - just like you used to only get with corded 120VAC power tools; that is a really great feature. Get off the trigger and the electric brake brings the bit to an immediate halt. The kit is great for home use, but that does not mean it is low powered; far from it, the drill/driver and the impact driver have torque that impressed me. I expect the saw to be a hand-full of power, too; it feels like it. The impact driver had so much more power than I expected, it easily twisted off a 1/4" bolt the first time I tried it out, tightening quickly and hard. Now I am calibrated not to let it keep impacting after the nut is driven home. I don't know how the convenient little 1/4"-hex driver chuck takes so much torque. The head of the impact driver is so much smaller than the drill/driver that it will frequently be easier to get into cramped quarters to work. There really are reasons to have the impact driver and the drill/driver both at hand when you are working, and to get them both in the same kit. The Drill/Driver handles well, the balance is good between the battery and the motor ends of the handle. The half-inch key-less chuck will handle those bigger bits and accessories, I won't need to upgrade this drill with a bigger chuck like some of my drills were. I like the two-speed transmission, gears are a better way to select the speed range than the electronic speed control, because low-gear boosts the torque when you run slow and electronics don't do that. The Recip. Saw has a wonderful, very convenient, blade lock so no tool is needed for changing blades. Just twist the lock by hand to pull the blade, and let the new blade settle in with a click. The saw is made for only using one hand on the grip; you always have your other hand to help control the work-piece, or even to help your work stance. The charger for the batteries worked fine and fast. The batteries themselves are wonderfully light weight compared to the old NiCad batteries. The LED work light puts out a lot of light. It can sit on any flat spot or it can be hung-up by the hefty wrist strap. The tool bag completes the Heavy Duty theme of these tools; it is rugged and big enough to hold all the tools and batteries and a bunch of blades and bits to go with them in the internal pockets. It was great to find repair parts lists and exploded assembly drawings with wiring diagrams in the manuals; they really intend for these tools to last and that the owner will want to work on them when they need it. I hope I will not be needing the Lifetime Service Agreement guarantee, but it is good to have. Since I am so happy with this set of tools, why didn't I give the 5-star Excellent rating? Well, anything can be improved; The safety lock buttons for the saw trigger don't fit my small hand 'perfectly' and sometimes it would be nice to have a spirit level on the drill, and a way to use it for leveling the work, not just leveling the drill bit. Maybe a magnet would be useful for sticking the work light up on some equipment or ducting to get the light in just right. I will be watching for chances to add to these tools with more in the Ridgid 18V Slide-On Li-Ion family.
