Whirlpool WFW9550WW
4 Star Review  productwiki.com - Oct 7, 2011

The Whirlpool WFW9550WW is a front load washing machine and is Energy Star Qualified, has 4.4 cubic feet of space, and is available in three colors: white, silver, and red. It uses 74% less water and 80% less energy. It has a child lockout safety feature and automatic door lock. It has 3 trays for detergent, bleach, and fabric softener and comes with multiple cycle options. ... PROS: (1) uses very little water and detergent for a typical load (2) more cycle options than most people will ever need (3) versatile enough to clean delicates and heavy work clothes thoroughly (4) very quiet operation even during the spin cycle (5) stays stable and doesnt vibrate or shake, can be used on the 2nd floor no problem ... CONS: (1) need to make sure to clean it once a month with special tablets or it tends to loose effectiveness (2) some quality control issues, occasionally get a unit with a loud spin cycle or frequent break-downs

This washer works fantastic!
5 Star Review   By Terrie on Home Depot - Jun 4, 2013

I am very happy with the performance of this washer. For the price it does everything I need it to do. I can't wait to save up for the matching dryer.

Would not give this to my dog!
1 Star Review   By pcar on Home Depot - May 27, 2013

We've had this washer for exactly 16 months. Code F70 comes up, which means you have to dismantle the lower panel in order to get to the drain and then reset the unit. Problem with that is, when you start getting this code it means F71 is going to be coming up soon. This code means the motherboard is not able to communicate - guess what - that's a $450+ part. Google this unit and read all the problems other people are having. I sure wish I would have did that first!

Disaster!!!!
1 Star Review   By Preston on Home Depot - Apr 17, 2013

I have owned this unit for 3 months. It has been nonfunctioning for as long as it has worked. Error codes F06/E03!!! :( Wet clothes locked in drum for over a week) Three service techs have visited without success. They now say wait another week+ for more parts, & another service call, but are still not sure what the problem is. I WILL NEVER BUY WHIRLPOOL AGAIN AS LONG AS I LIVE.

Whirlpool Duet washing machine - STAY AWAY
1 Star Review   By baysquad on Home Depot - Mar 29, 2013

I have the Duet washer 4.o cu ft. model# wfw9150ww01. STAY AWAY FROM ANY OF THE DUET MODEL MACHINES!!! Only have had it for 1 year 9 months and the machine is unrepairable. !st a sock was sucked up into a hose & water came out of the detergent drawer. Then my clothes started getting ripped & shredded. Then the machine started banging around & making loud knocking sounds during spin cycles. Machine itself was level. I don't do blankets/quilts in it. I don't do heavy loads. I don't even out 15-18 jeans in the machine like the ads say it can handle. I use my machine once a week for 1 adult 2 children. 4-6 loads a weeks tops. Machine started leaking from the bottom. Repair man comes & says Bricks bolted to the bottom of the drum broke. Entire drum assembly has to be replaced - $500+ repair bill if I was to fix it - thanks but no thanks. Repair says he has fixed quite a few of these machines. The spin cycles on these machine are entirely too fast & only will lead to broken parts. My electric bill went up $40-$50 a month. Takes almost an hour to do a load. Cost of machine is a lot to pay for under 2 years of use. STAY AWAY FROM WHIRLPOOL DUET WASHER MACHINES.

Completely broken in 2 years. Repaired it, and completely destroyed again 2 years later. Whirlpool admitted it was due to faulty parts, but since they don't make the tub anymore, all they offered is that I could pay $950 for a new machine. I own a 4 year old, $1200 paperweight. Lousy machine, lousy company.

Whirlpool Duet front loading washing machine not reliable nor is customer service
1 Star Review   By member laurenwolf - Feb 3, 2013

Weakness: Ripped our clothing; very loud; customer service knows about these problems but does not stand behind its product.

We've owned the Whirlpool washing machine for just under three years. Initially performance was average. It didn't take long, however, for problems to start happening: first the noise-very loud, spinning out of balance regardless of the size of the load. The next problem is what I call the end. It started to rip our clothing. Not on seams-our clothing came out looking like Swiss cheese. My husband now has only 3 pairs of underwear left-I am getting ready to head out to the laundromat. My appliance repairman, who is certified and very reliable, said they could repair it but the cost would most likely equal or exceed the cost of a new machine. I contacted Whirlpool customer service. They offered me a new drum at a 50% discount. Tell me. Should this happen after just 3 years? My GE profile lasted almost 12 years, and was replaced more for efficiency than anything else. My search of others experiencing this problem indicated that this is not a lone problem. Funny, I can't wear my clothing to work looking like this. The machine probably destroyed $1,000 worth of clothing, not to mention towels, bedding. I am so unhappy with both the machine and the company I would also recommend staying away from Maytag, owned by the same company.

Defective Exterior Paint and Enamel
1 Star Review   By barney on Home Depot - Dec 15, 2012

I had 4 of these washing machines delivered. The first was damaged in shipping. The other three had factory defects in the enamel on the left upper corner of the machine. All in the same area. Maytag kept sending out machines even though I asked for inspection before hand. The delivery service was great and Home Depot gives continued excellent service and refunded my money. I have now order a GE Washer and Dryer which will be delived on Tuesday!!! Thank you, JL, Rancho Santa Fe

Do not purchase this machine
1 Star Review   By Wade on Home Depot - Nov 7, 2012

I purchased this washing machine 14 months ago, and the technician told me that the repair would be more expensive that the purchase of a new washer. He said that the main bearing went out. I can't understand why these companies don't stand by their products and fix known issues. My parents have had their washer for over 20 years. How can we buy the older, more reliable washers?

1 Star Review   By mlaa on Home Depot - Oct 12, 2012

the whirlpool duet washer is pure junk. i have had for less than 3 years and repair estimate was $900. plus. the repair person said he would not recommend the repair and that was prior to him finding more issue totalling over $900. the deliver man on my new machine, not a product that has any relationship to whirlpool at all, said he hauls lots and lots of these junk machines away. pls. beware.
