NO GOOD-any replacement suggestions!
1 Star Review   By member lindainsa - Jan 14, 2014

This 17-month old machine is twisting clothes, spinning out of control, and the spinning and twisting kicks the machine off. Fixing it will cost more than I paid for it. PLUS, there is NO way to open the lid, redistribute the clothes and start a spin to clear out the water. I will have to replace it. Glad I DIDN'T get a warranty because it would do no good! I won't buy Maytag.

The washer washes clothes.
2 Star Review   By Lmad on Home Depot - Oct 24, 2012

So far no major issues with the washer. But the lock feature on the door is quite annoying. The wash cycle is extra extra long. We have had the washer now for one month.

Less than 3 months & it broke
1 Star Review   By Drakemom on Home Depot - Oct 18, 2012

I bought this washer because my mom loved it. I purchased it 7/2012. I do 3 loads a week: delicates, sheets and towels. Barely three months into owning it, the machine starting making a high pitch screaming noise during agitation. Called the "repair man." The transmission was completely shot. Maytag will not replace it. Maytag stated "this is normal that is why we have 1 year warranty with it."

has all the bells and whistles I need
4 Star Review   By Mersch on Home Depot - Oct 11, 2012

My machine was so old (it was harvest gold) that it was like going from a wringer to an automatic. Still figuring out what cycles are best for me, but I love the bulky cycle. I have spring water so water consumption is not a big deal, but I know it uses less water than the old one and has more capacity. I like it.

Terrible.
1 Star Review   By Bangel on Home Depot - Oct 8, 2012

Terrible washer. Takes forever, sometimes sitting on 'sensing' for 20 minutes or more before it even starts. Has 'walked' around the utility room. Cannot handle anything heavy....light summer clothes seem to be all its good for. And 16 months later, its dead!

great value for basic unit
4 Star Review   By OkeMark on Home Depot - Oct 2, 2012

We needed something for our cottage and didnt want a high end unit. After reading all the reviews, good and bad we selected this unit. It has lived up to its rating. It does not have bells and whistles and outrageous settings to please every load. It washes clothes and does it efficiently. We have owned for over a month and used it without any complaints.

Worst washer ever lid locks so you cant throw more clothes in always uneven spin cycle if you arent watching it it will keep filling with water and trying to spin all day trying to get the clothes even energy star doesnt let enough water in. Only washing 3 pairs of jeans and a few shirts at a time clothes arent clean.Pants still have marks in them where u sit, brand new twin sheets still have creases where they were folded. buying a new washer.

Lasted 13 months
1 Star Review   By Troywellbuilt on Home Depot - Sep 17, 2012

Started making a grinding noise after a little over a year. Then machine lid would lock, unlock, fill with water, drain water, repeat, all without washing clothes. Then done light would come on. Thank goodness for AMEX extended warranty. Will stay away from Maytag for its replacement.

You'll have to replace it in 2 years
1 Star Review   By NotHappy on Home Depot - Sep 7, 2012

I bought this washer about a year and a half ago and just had to spend a significant amount of money to replace the broken water sensor. Buy a better machine, you'll end up paying for it anyway.

Was this review helpful to you?  Yes or No ( Report this as inappropriate )

With this machine, you don't even get what you pay for.
2 Star Review   By LessThanSatisfied on Home Depot - Sep 1, 2012

We bought this machine just less than 2 years ago. Until now the machine has served us fine and has done the job (albeit not exceptionally), but after less than 2 years of use the electronic sensors in this machine are pretty much worn out. We have had to replace the main control panel and a cycle switch on a nearly new machine that totaled half the value of the washer in the first place...and I did all the labor! This machine has not been abused or over-used at all; it has just simply broken. I am sorry to say that the quality of this product is poor, and the customer service through Maytag is equally worthless. My suggestion: Spend a little more money, and steer clear of Maytag/Whirlpool.

3 Star Review   By goldnanc on Home Depot - Aug 14, 2012

This washing machine is extremely noisy and locks upon closing the lid and hitting the start button making it impossible to add additional items after it begins to fill. I can hear this washer even with the door closed! Not sure what makes it so, but it's very annoying.

WORST MACHINE MADE AT ANY PRICE
1 Star Review   By towelman on Home Depot - Aug 9, 2012

I bought 2 of these for my business. It take 21/2 hours to wash a load and they aren't clean and have to be rewashed. Any water saving is wasted by rewashing over and over. Horrible machines, I'm going to try to trade them in to a used appliance dealer just to get rid of them. complete waste of money. 5 steps backward in technology.

It doesn't take very long for this machine to have issues!
1 Star Review   By Mom2012 on Home Depot - Aug 7, 2012

Seem to work ok in the beginning, not that you could tell, lid locks through whole cycle. I know it's a child safety feature, but a lock on the door is a child safety too. Hate the on/off button, should not be made of rubber, you push it and it gets stuck in machine and you have to fish it out.. Had machine from 2/21/11 to 8/4/12 and having problems already, not counting the stupid button. Starts sensing laundry for about 5 seconds and just stops.

Never again
1 Star Review   By MAC1962 on Home Depot - Jul 22, 2012

I DO NOT like this washer. The lid has an automatic lock on it. If the load gets out of balance, which it does 40% of the time, you can not get in to fix the problem. It requires pushing and holding the start button a number of times. Also, if you lose power frequently in your area, it is very difficult to get to the load to remove it. Washing laundry requires that you babysit this machine, not just put in a load and walk away. I would not purchase this washer again.

New Century Washing Machine - Tips & Tricks
4 Star Review   By SideRoads on Home Depot - Jul 21, 2012

DW used the washer for a week. Wanted to exchange it for a prior century mechanical washing machine. Went to the local Home Depot, the associate said he would exchange the washer if desired. DW did not like it because she could not control water level, etc. The associate explained that the water fills from the bottom and not from the top like most folks are used to. Conservation technology is completely different from last century washing machines. He explained to set the dial to regular, then start the machine and let water fill to normal level. Then if desired, stop the washer, wait for lid to unlock and immediately set the dial to heavy, close the lid and restart. Additional water will be added. Also, DW understands why the soap goes in before the clothes, because the washer fills from the bottom. She says the only time she needs more water is when doing heavy towels. No Return, or Exchange now necessary. She is now working with tools in a new century and happy with the washers performance, size, and styling. A little nosier, but not annoying. If the durability exceeds expectations, then all is well. That's why 4 stars. Let's see how long it lasts? The dryer operates great. No acclimation to a new century necessary.

1 Star Review   By ckp844 on Home Depot - Jul 20, 2012

Machine worked well at first but after about 9 months started having issues and now after 15 months it does not get my clothes clean. I called for service and it needs parts and even those are on back order for over 2 months. This is the worst washer I have ever used and I will never buy a Maytag product again.

2 Star Review   By nothappycust on Home Depot - Jul 16, 2012

We purchased two of these units for our multi-family house three weeks ago. One of the unit is already not working properly. It stops after the wash cycle and does not go into rise or spin. The production is also cheap; the push button is already coming off after a handful times of use.

Cleans good, but vibrates a lot
1 Star Review   By MattG on Home Depot - Jul 8, 2012

Purchased this model about 18 months ago. Until about Jan/Feb of this year, it worked flawlessly. However, at that time it began to vibrate significantly in the spin cycle, as if it was unbalanced. No matter how much we rearranged the load, it always did this . . . . and it vibrated so hard it walked itself into the dryer, wearing the paint off the edge. Even with no clothes in it, it vibrates badly. The warranty is only one year, but I called a qualified service tech to look at it. The tech warned me before he came over that he suspected that nothing was wrong, but I insisted it was worse than when we purchased it. He came over, and looked at it. He checked the tub suspension and nothing was worn or broken. He said that ALL Maytag (& Whirlpool, since they make them) top load machines that are Energy Star rated now vibrate like this. The company designed the tub to spin faster so that the clothes dry quicker, and the unit uses less energy. Unfortunately, the higher spin speed causes more vibration. So, we paid the tech $140 to come out and say "it is what it is". After repeated discussions with Maytag customer service on the phone, they pretty much said the same thing. I realize the warranty is over, but I would certainly expect a new appliance, especially one with "commercial technology" to last longer than 18 months before showing a significant degradation in performance. DO NOT BUY!

are you ready for a h.e. Maytag washer machine.....
1 Star Review   By customer on Home Depot - Jul 3, 2012

I wish the sales person would of told me what this machine could not do... I did return it because it took 40 minutes to run thru a delicate cyle. Yes, it probably saves you money in water but the cyles take way to long to run and i do not have all day to wash clothes. It make these terrible noises when the water was pumping out .And the spining cylce was this loud whinning sound. It is not a quiet machine. I returned the machine the very next day.

This is a great washer.
4 Star Review   By vanderhouse on Home Depot - Jul 3, 2012

The only reason that I gave it only four stars is that the water doesn't fill until the lid is locked. I like to put the clothes in while the washer is filling. Also I have to release the lock in order to add a piece of clothing. But once I got used to the workings of the washer, it really does do a great job. The clothes are almost dry when the spin cycle is done. This saves money and time.

very poor excuse for a washing machine
1 Star Review   By unhappy on Home Depot - Jun 3, 2012

We bought this machine because of the Maytag name as well as all the features it stated it offered. We were sadly disappointed after the first use. It states that is high effecient but that cannot be possibly as it takes well over an hour just to do one load of laundry on normal cycle. Once the cycle finally finished I realized all my clothes were still covered in chunks of soap and not even cleaned. This was very disappointing. As well, if you like to add fabric softener during the rinse cycle this is not the washing machine for you! Due to the locking lid you have to pause the washing process to add fabric softener, which the manual states you can do by pushing the pause button, but this just reset the entire wash cycle and i had to start back at the begining. I do not recommend this washing machine to anyone.

Do not buy!!! Buyer Beware!
1 Star Review   By Farrah on Home Depot - May 31, 2012

Bought this 9 months ago the electric panel went out, they sent a repair man that had to order the part. He then told me it would be over a week before he could come back to put the part on. I explained I am disabled and could not carry my clothes to laundry mat! Maytag nor the repair man that Maytag sent cared. So while they will repair it, it is on their time while using your warranty up! I say buy from a different company all together, Maytag does not care about the customer at all!

I love that the spin cycle really works so well..it has cut my drying time almost in half...also like the way it automatically adjusts the amount of water used..overall, I should see savings all around.

Not happy
2 Star Review   By Kathy on Home Depot - May 30, 2012

I don't like that there isn't a soap or fabric softener dispenser. Sometimes dark clothes has white spots on them. Spins so well that the clothes is compressed to sides. There isn't a buzzer to let me know when the cycle is done so my clothes come out very wrinkled.

Takes too long
2 Star Review   By Chris on Home Depot - May 29, 2012

I don't know how much money I'm saving but they need to keep working on this one. So it take a lot longer to do a load now and the washer has to stop a think a lot now. The auto water level to save water is way too much and the locking door is way to much of a delay also if you want to open the door if it is running or thing about running.

Machine seems to wash very well, and has all the features we shopped for.
4 Star Review   By RonB on Home Depot - May 22, 2012

This machine makes very strange noises during it's cycles, but is able to handle large or small loads very well. It spins the water out of wash load much better than our previous machine. It is too early to measure the enery savings and overall econcomy. This washing machine appears to be a very good product.

a pretty decent washer
4 Star Review   By JenD on Home Depot - May 20, 2012

Bought this 6 months ago to replace a top loader from the 80s. We wash anywhere from 2-4 loads a week and has been working great. It took a while to get used to adding the detergent then clothes and THEN starting it, but it seems to wash the clothes efficiently, even with the water level sensor. If I forget to add something, its easy to pause and throw it in. The one problem I have with it: it takes a LONG time. I've never timed it, but on a normal wash, it seems to take like an hour or more. It seems to be about the same time as the matching dryer -- however, we tend to add the wet clothes to the dryer and start it. By the time we add the detergent and clothes, the dryer has been running for a bit. Our dryer always finishes before the washer -- when does that ever happen?! Its also kind of loud. We have it in a basement laundry room and can hear it (muffled) upstairs. It doesn't bother us, but its definitely not recommended for a main floor laundry room. Overall, its not spectacular but its a decent washer that does the job, especially for the price.

Really like it!!
4 Star Review   By BusyPeople on Home Depot - May 18, 2012

We've had the Maytag Centennial Mvwc300xw for several weeks now. Done all types of laundry, from delicate to rugs to pet beds. It washes well, clothes really seem cleaner than with our old washer. Does take a bit longer to complete the cycle but we don't care. Makes weird noises compared to the old technology but not really loud. BF says one of the cycles sounds like the Tardis!! We have had no problems with the level of water it selects at all - clothes come out clean and no soap residue. We usually use the extra rinse and use fabric softener about half the time. Price was fabulous!! We didn't want a high maintenance machine, just one that would produce clean clothes & this is exactly what we got!!

Better cleaning with an agitator.
5 Star Review   By WFL5611 on Home Depot - May 17, 2012

Replaces a 2010 Sears Kenmore 28002010 Hi Effiency tub model that had a bad motor &/or board. Instantly could see the difference in having this model with an agitator. Clothes cleaner by far. . Still get much of the hi effiency $ benefits & clean clothes. Only wish it had more cubic capacity. Now been two weeks & no problems.

It's different
4 Star Review   By bonniesue on Home Depot - May 16, 2012

It took some getting use to, because it senses the water level, (and I am so use to deciding the water level) but once I got use to it, it was fine. It washes the clothes nicely and drying time is lowered.

Nice Machine
4 Star Review   By Sarah on Home Depot - May 15, 2012

This Maytag Centennial HE washer is a very nice basic washer. This unit has an agitator in the center. We enjoyed our last Maytag for eleven years and have used this model for several months. Delivery was efficient. It cleans clothes very well. It's much quieter than our previous machine, but is noisier when filling, draining and spinning. Washing and rinsing sounds are like quiet winding noises. We follow the instructions carefully and use the recommended liquid HE detergent first and then add clothes. This works better than the old method of pouring detergent on top of clothes. Stains should be presoaked with some detergent. Loading the machine carefully prevents it from becoming off balance. I often fold bath towels, some clothes and sheets in half before loading them around the agitator. The only time we have had an unbalanced noise was when washing a small rug. The machine's high speed spin, 700rpm, is a great feature. Clothes dry quickly. Some cottons may get stretched, so any delicates that stretch or fray should be washed separately with the delicate cycle or placed in a bag. Different cycles have different spin speeds. We mostly use the Normal cycle. It takes time to get used to and plan around the HE Maytag's longer wash times. Most cycles take about an hour, some longer, some less. The sensing process allows clothes to soak and this is probably why they wash cleaner. The soaking feature is an eco-friendly way to use wash water. The sensing keeps adding water until the right amount is used. Balancing the laundry when loading helps the machine with the sensing process. There are often long pauses between cycle changes which adds to the total wash time. A service person recommended the bulky setting whenever a full tub of water is needed. The bulky cycle fills the machine to the top and does not use the slower sensing process. Whenever I have checked the automatic water level, it has been perfect for the amount of clothes. All of the clothes are just covered with water. And the drain and spin, and rinse and spin cycle options are very helpful. This machine is electronically controlled, so the user needs to learn its logic. When it starts, it locks the lid, then unlocks if for a few seconds, then locks it again and starts. You can't move cycles ahead or back as with older machines, but you can cancel the load and change the cycle. Settings cannot be changed after the cycle has begun. Pushing the start button to unlock the lid and add items or check the water level works just fine. It's best to pause and unlock the lid when the machine is not busy filling or spinning. When it is spinning, you have to wait until the spinning comes to a complete stop before it will unlock. If you pause when it is not busy, it unlocks within seconds. If you leave the lid open more than a few minutes (ten minutes will cancel everything and drain), the machine may override the sensor and fill the tub completely full with water or pause for a long while. When it has done this, I canceled the cycle and waited then restarted and it was fine. Waiting a while allows the computer to reset itself. When I pause and open the lid, I try to add clothes quickly and restart so the computer won't reset. This machine is noisiest during draining and spinning. At first our machine shook the floor and room. Leveling the machine has greatly reduced this since the machine was not leveled during delivery. Be sure to level your machine before using! This machine has caused water hammer noises in the pipes. It took some time and research to label this issue and to understand the noise. To reduce this, we don't open the water much. The old Maytag didn't do this, so the machine could have a faulty inlet valve. Others have had this problem with some Maytag machines. Also, part of our rubber start button went through the little hole several times but we were able to pull it back out. Now we press it carefully. We are pleased with how well the Maytag machine cleans clothes. The automatic fill feature is very helpful. Based on other reviews, we remain concerned about its durability. We follow the instructions and plan to take good care of it. Shopping for a new washer should be easier than reading reviews and trying one out. There should be a location to see how one works or at least a detailed video.

Over it!
1 Star Review   By SarStelleaoe on Home Depot - Apr 23, 2012

mother in law got this i can't really say when to be exact but i started using it once i moved on already got aggravated with this machine. washing clothes takes a short time but for that short time you'd think its cleaning it properly nope still detergent on it. ridiculous even worse i put the knob on large load where it takes extra time with it. still doesn't do it right, even worse the dryer that goes with this takes two hours to dry one load of clothes. and i mean to completely dry it . so not only is my wash taking forever so is the drying. i basicly have to prepare myself every time i go to wash clothes, one day i spent on just a small load of clothing: let's see i started at about 9:38am didn't finish until 3:12pm that's ridiculous to be spending that much time doing laundry. I've experienced better ones like the Kenmore one is fantastic you set the time on it so that way it finishes when you want it to. that includes the drying fantastic brand they are.but then again can you expect more at the price. absolutely not the best quality washer or dryer that i have used sorry for the rest of you for investing in this peace of junk.

Cheap!! Piece of Junk!!
1 Star Review   By zappo on Home Depot - Apr 15, 2012

We bought this Maytag Centennial washer and a Maytag dryer for our daughter's new home. They were on sale as a pair at Home Depot in December 2010 for $349 for the pair! Great price...we figured we couldn't go wrong since Maytag's quality was supposed to be much better than in the recent past, right?.....WRONG!!! After 16 months, our daughter calls to tell us the washer agitated then just stopped.....would not drain and spin. I told her to reset the start button to a different cycle then, pull it out to start. This worked......for a while. Today ...one month later.. she told me that it was doing the same thing again! This time i drove to her house and tried turning the timer button to start the washer in different cycles to get it to start spinning......timer just buzzed. I grabbed the washer from the top and pulled forward so that the rear was 1" off the floor...then let it drop.....nothing, but second time it started draining and spinning!!!....transmission problem?? It' only a few months out of warranty!! I'm now looking for a Kenmore washer to replace this one!!

Worst I have ever seen
1 Star Review   By AngryinAugusta on Home Depot - Apr 9, 2012

When we got it installed and tried to useit, found that we had to wash each load twice to get a decent clean. Called for service, Home Depot was nice enough, but the Maytag center spent more time insulting my wife than listening to the problem. I will be taking this back to HD for a different machine that is user friendly.

Worst machine ever!!
1 Star Review   By gram4 on Home Depot - Apr 9, 2012

Not enough water goes into the machine to clean the clothes! I have to re-run washes so many times just to clean the clothes. Have to pre-soak socks for them to come out white. I wish we could disconnect whatever decides how much water goes into the tub. I have to add water to every wash. NEVER, NEVER again will buy a machine like this ..

Does what I need a washer to do
5 Star Review   By Caren on Home Depot - Apr 4, 2012

Purchased this washer after reading many reviews. I wanted something rather straightforward and simple. I have no unusual needs, no monstrous loads, no unusual requirements. This is a simple, easy to operate machine that cleans clothes just fine. True, it makes unusual noises - and I am glad it is in our basement - but I am very pleased and would recommend the machine.

I HATE THIS MACHINE!!
1 Star Review   By LorJean on Home Depot - Mar 31, 2012

This is the second lemon in a row that I purchased. The first one was another brand. This is absolutely THE WORST machine I have ever purchased. The loads take almost an hour to go through & my water useage has almost doubled. If there is a lopsided load it takes forever to stop the machine because of the lock button; when you finally stop the machine and rebalance the load the machine proceeds to start the ENTIRE cycle over again. I have been trying to wash just one lightweight quilt this morning .... started at 9:00 a.m. had a imbalance that I had to fix and the load is still going through and 11:00. TWO HOURS! Maytag call center is only open during weekday hours when I'm working ... so I can't reach anyone to get this piece of junk fixed. Save yourself the aggravation and don't purchase this one. I'm very disappointed with what I thought was a quality name in washers. (I had a Maytag years ago that was wonderful, it lasted for 18 years - wow how things change).

Great washing machine!
4 Star Review   By pruittmom on Home Depot - Mar 27, 2012

I have had this machine for about two months now and love it. Everything comes out clean (including cloth diapers). It takes a little longer to cycle than our old machine but not by much. It saves energy and water too. I still wish it didn't have a agitator in the middle but for the price I still love it.

3 months and it's dead!
1 Star Review   By Doris on Home Depot - Mar 24, 2012

I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing this piece of junk! After only three months of use, the machine has died. As other reviewers stated, it's not like a traditional washer. It "senses" how big the load is and adds water accordingly. You don't get to pick a small/medium/large load. It's extremely loud and once it's engaged you can't open the lid. So if you want to add that extra sock that you missed, you have to pause/cancel the load, wait, then add the sock, then start up again. The customer service dept. at Maytag is not helpful at all. They sent a technician who didn't have a clue. I ended up having to call my own electrician only to be told part of the problem was that the wires weren't grounded when they installed the washer/dryer and that I'm very lucky my home didn't go up in flames. Meanwhile, we paid lots of money to have our clothes washed/folded while we waited for weeks for Maytag to send someone out. Who pays for that?? We do, just like we paid for this piece of junk. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this machine.

good, cheap, loud
4 Star Review   By LVCatlady on Home Depot - Mar 22, 2012

This was purchased as an unexpected replacement. I like that for being a low end model it has more options than my old one. However even compared to my old on, this model is pretty loud. You need to put it in its own separate laundry room with a firmly shut door - otherwise you will hear this thing through the whole house.

5 Star Review   By Meri on Home Depot - Mar 20, 2012

When we fired it up, plumber and I looked at each other and both muttered, UH OH. It sounded like a rocket taking off!!! Very disconcerting. Manufacturer needs to put a warning on this machine to alert purchaser to the fact this machine makes odd noises. Other than that, this machine is incredible. Wash cycles are longer, but use less water and detergent. Clothes are dryer when cycle finishes so drying time is less. Overall, efficient and a money saver as a plus.

A Great Machine
5 Star Review   By NS6377 on Home Depot - Mar 19, 2012

A Great Machine in My Honest Opinion. Wanted a Energy Star Product that saves me money. I have not noticed any type of rise in my Water Or Energy Bill thanks to it. Im glad I got a MayTag Product for my First Washer. Great Name brand. I noticed other reviewers say they had to pay $100 + in parts, this is why you get the Extended 4 Year Service Plan from Home Depot for $100! So many things can go wrong with it! Think about it!

Bought this machine 1 month ago. Absolutely hate it...its going back ASAP. Clothes come out a total mess...so wrinkled you would not believe..you cannot start the h2o until the lid is closed and locked therefore your clothes are sitting in the detergent which leaves spots on our clothes the takes another 3 or 4 washes to get all the detergent out..not what i call energy efficient. Do Not recommend this machine at all!

No good features on this machine for me
1 Star Review   By Debbie on Home Depot - Mar 15, 2012

This has to be absolutely the most ineffcient washer ever manufactured. Not only is it hard on the items being laundered (with the exception of the Bulky setting) but items that once needed little or no ironing, do need ironing even on the Casual setting. There is no way that a queen or king size comforter could be laundered in this washer which was one of the key selling points mentioned by the sales person.

Very differnt than the traditional washer!
1 Star Review   By SYSUser on Home Depot - Mar 14, 2012

The installer was confused the "delay funtion" of the washer. He called the service center and was told the machine was defect and took away. I have to take another day off to wait for another delivery a week later. The washer is very different and took twice as long as the normal washer. I am not sure if the energy was saved. The clothes were not cleaned after one wash. I have to wash twice and make sure all the clothes are loosly arranged in the washer. I have trusted this brand for 20 some years and I am very disappointed this time.

Great washer for the money
5 Star Review   By Jacqueline on Home Depot - Mar 11, 2012

Purchased this washer 3 months ago after my prior washer of 30+ years finally died. On average I do 3-4 loads of laundry per week. This Maytag is just what I wanted; high-efficiency, auto-water sensor, energy star listed, and quiet. Cycle-times appear to be faster than my old washer. The agitator is of appropriate size for the 3.4 drum, meaning you can get clothes in and out of the machine comfortably. Other models I looked at in store had oversized agitators which overtook most of the space in the drum. And yes, when this washer is 'on' you can hear it working. But it is not half as bad/loud as some reviews would lead you to believe. My laundry is located in the kitchen. I can be in the kitchen with the laundry on and experience no hassles with undue noise. Great washer for the money, clothes come out clean and well rinsed. I would recommend this washer to anyone.

This washer does it's job well.
4 Star Review   By Christine on Home Depot - Mar 10, 2012

I love my washer, when I was researching prouducts I found out what people liked and disliked about it, so there wasn't any suprises. The washer has a lot of noises, but it is not bad, at first it's like "Is it suppost to sound like this?" -- it is compleatly normal. A normal wash load takes a little under an hour to wash. Again not a big deal- prioritize when you need your clothes- many washers on the market today take OVER an hour. The only annoying thing about this washer is; if you are not careful it is very easy to unbalance your load. I have the most trouble with pillows. My advice, don't leave the house when doing laundry (which you really shouldn't do anyway). My clothes come out clean, I really like using HE detergent- it cost less and takes less to do laundry. The washer is user friendly- IF you take the time to ready the instructions. This washer is well worth the price.

My husband bought this as a set because our set that was over 12 years old needed to be retired. With the high electric and water bills we needed to be more efficient and economical so we opted for the Maytag set. We ordered it May 1 Thursday and received it May 3 Saturday afternoon. Delivery was fast and courteous .I appreciated the fact the delivery guy help me understand what we have purchase and showed us how to operate. No where in the demonstration did it say that the horrible and loud noise as if someone is coming through walls during the washing process is normal. It shakes and jerks and that is not even during the spin cycle. The door locks you can not open to shift clothes it takes longer than 2 hours to wash a load of clothes. Please read the reviews they are very accurate and true as for me I am returning my set Monday MORNING ASAP!!

1 Star Review   By Angie on Home Depot - Mar 3, 2012

This is the worst machine I have ever put may hands on. One load this moring took 5 hours, you have to babysit this machine like a baby. It will not spin the water out of your clothes, does not wash your clothes and it is very loud. I bought this machine in July "on sale" while remodeling a house we bought. Did not move in the house until the end of December and now only using it a couple of months "and getting very angry every time i have to do a load of laundry because it NEVER works the way it is suppose to" they will not let me return it since it has been more than thrity days. I think that is a joke!! I would love to take it back to maytag and throw it through their window and let them have it back. If i had not paid so much for the machine i would roll it over a cliff. I HATE THIS MACHINE, and when you call maytag for a repair man they do not call you back.

I bought this product 12/3/2009 and now as of March 1, 2012 I am shopping for a new washing machine. I just had a repair person say that the transmission needs to be replaced. That is a shame that the machine repairs will be more expensive than the initial purchase price. It never washed clothing well...so, I guess, replacing a transmission is not a good plan. Maytag no longer is known as a quality product. it is best known as JUNK!!

Worst Washer ever!!!!!
1 Star Review   By Cindy on Home Depot - Feb 28, 2012

Bought this washer 6 months ago and was ready to through it out the door after the first wash cycle. I bought this washer because it was "supposed" to be water and energy efficient. It is not. First of all it takes a full hour to go through any of the cycles and that is if all goes "according to plan." Just about every load gets off balance and the machine starts this banging noise. And because you are locked out from the second you start the cycle you cannot just lift the lid and repostion the clothes. You have to press pause and wait forever for the lid to unlock and then reposition all of the clothes and then you have to start the cycle all over again. I spent three hours one morning doing one load because of this problem. In my opinion this is not water or energy efficient at all. In fact my electric bill has gone up significantly in the last 6 months because of this particular machine. However, if you have to live with this washer until it breaks beyond repair, here is what I have learned to do to get keep my sanity: Position all of your clothes in a cone-shape (layer of clothes on botton and then start a pile going up from the center). Pour liquid detergent and fabric softener on clothes, shut the lid and then put on "Bulky" cycle no matter what cycle it really is. Then (I am very serious) say a prayer that it runs the cycle like it is supposed to.

WORST!!!!!
1 Star Review   By briscoeville5 on Home Depot - Feb 25, 2012

I do not have enough time nor energy to say all of the things that I dislike ablaut this machine. I have had it for 30 days and have read and tried everything to improve the quality. The so called gentle cycle is certainly going to increase the amount of spending I will have to make on clothing as it is about as gentle as two sumo wrestlers. Hooray for lower during costs, but guess what? The gentle cycle clothes NEVER go into the dryer!!! The other major hatred of all the many others is the fact that it's use a Downey Ball, which frankly I think is a waste of money, or run through the rinse cycle again toy add softener to your clothing. But really don't bother there because it doesn't always drain well or spin and you have to put it through the drain and spin cycle. Cost effective? I don't think so, I just went through 3 cycles. Absolutely hate, loathe, and despise this machine!!!

Get ready for the future of doing laundry!
5 Star Review   By Jane on Home Depot - Feb 21, 2012

This is a great washer, new and different but once you get used to it, its great. Change doesn't come easy, so just read the book, and walk away. Actually timed it with the dryer, and although it seems long, 40 minutes, it saves lots of water and energy. Like I said for all the sceptics who have done research like I did, its new and different, has some interesting sounds, but is a great washer and gets the job done. It just takes some getting used to. Unfortunately, soon there will be no choice, so I feel I have a head start on everyone else who is still uncertain about buying this type of washer. It does what is supposed to do--wash clothes! Saves energy and saves water..what more can you ask of an appliance!

Good product.

Love it especially the fact that it adjusts the water level. My clothes come out clean almost dry and not tangled together.

Basic High Efficiency washer
3 Star Review   By FionaBugg on Home Depot - Feb 17, 2012

The washer is good, but I wish there was a dispenser area for the washing detergent. I don't like the idea of pouring the detergent into the washer and then throwing the dirty clothes on top. I still prefer it to my old front loading washer.

I couldn't be more pleased with the value of this product.
5 Star Review   By Bueller on Home Depot - Feb 15, 2012

This unit is very quiet and is enery/water efficient. The locking lid is a great safety feature for families that have young children. This product has all the features that I would ever need at a very fair price.

Lid locks. If you lift lid cycle starts over
3 Star Review   By Stacey on Home Depot - Feb 14, 2012

Like how clean my clothes get but the cycle lasts an hour. You must put detergent in with clothes before starting cycle. If you stop cycle to add clothes, detergent, etc cycle starts over Had feature that will determine how much water is necessary based on weight of the load.

so far so good, name that I can trust
4 Star Review   By pete on Home Depot - Feb 14, 2012

This is the second machine that I bought for the pass 20 years,I bought the same made because I was so happy with the previous one. This time I bought a High Efficience one, that means I have to use a different kind of detergent, (a detergent that has a HE inprinted on).So use up all your old detergent if you are going to buy a H/E machine. I have this machine for about a month,so far its working good, and I guess it save a lot of water also, because it senses how much clothing you put into the machine, and fill the water accordingly.

No problems so far. Does a good job
4 Star Review   By Pops on Home Depot - Feb 14, 2012

I have only had washer a few weeks and my wife really likes it. It makes funny noises our old washer didn't make and wash cycle is longer (almost an hour) but not really a problem for us. Clothes come out clean and it spins almost all the water from the clothes . I will reevaluate if I have problems in the future. Good price from Home Depot and can't beat free delivery and removal.
