Excellent Cleaning with Energy Efficiency & Huge Capacity
5 Star Review   By NCTutu on Home Depot - Jun 5, 2013

I decided NOT to buy another front loader washer after my previous experience with a poor system. This washer has a new technology that really cleans well while using smaller amounts of water. I enjoy the many cycles and the capacity is enormous. It easily can hold a king sized comforter. This is very helpful for allergen suppression with frequent washings

Love my washer!
5 Star Review   By rwt04 on Home Depot - May 14, 2013

I've had my washer (& matching dryer) for almost one month and absolutely love it! I am able to get 3x more loads with this washer. I am amazed at how many clothes I can wash at one time. Great purchase!

Unbalanced Loads!!
3 Star Review   By Laundress on Home Depot - Apr 9, 2013

I bought this machine specifically because of the load size. I have a big family and I have lots of sheets, blankets and bedspreads to wash. Every single time I wash blankets or more than one load of sheets (heaven forbid I try to wash a bedspread) the machine goes off balance. I load the machine carefully and try to make it balanced but that does no good when the machine moves everything around during the wash cycles. When it took three hours to get one load of sheets washed I called LG and had to argue my case for thirty minutes to get someone out here to check the machine. When he arrived the tech told me my machine was fine but he recommended I not wash blankets and bedspreads in the machine!!!! Everything else is fine even towels; go figure. Just be warned that you will spend a lot of time fighting the machine to get sheets and blankets washed in a reasonable amount of time.

I love it.
5 Star Review   By Dar1 on Home Depot - Apr 6, 2013

Easy to use, determine what you are washing and put it in the machine, add the detergent, etc. and hit start. The machine self balances the load and tells you how long before it will be done. For you "Star Trek" fans, don't climb into the tub with a red shirt on the spin cycle, its a doozy. This helps with the drying, the clothes are barely damp, so the dryer finishes quickly.

Wrinkles everything!
1 Star Review   By unhappy on Home Depot - Apr 2, 2013

Don't expect to wash anything that can't go into the dryer. Clothes come out so wrinkled that I can't lay them flat or hang them to dry, I'm getting rid of this expensive monster before I ruin all my clothes.

Best Washer I've Owned
5 Star Review   By Armyfamily on Home Depot - Mar 16, 2013

I have used this washer for nearly two years now and never had a problem. We have three kids and a California King bed and this machine cleans every load, large and bulky or delicates, just right. Extremely large capacity but senses the load size so automatically adjusts to small loads. No excessive vibration even when washing our largest mattress items, and never had to adjust an 'unbalanced' load as I have had to do with other machInes. Doesn't seem overly harsh on our clothes but still gets the clean and very dry on the spin cycle. Plus it's nice being able to watch through the glass lid and the washer looks great and hasn't scratched yet. Sure it's pricy but you get a top quaily, high performing machine.

HE Skeptic
4 Star Review   By DryerDude on Home Depot - Mar 12, 2013

I have to say that I was a little skeptical of the washing ability of the new high efficiency washers. Very little water and for the most part doesn't seem to do much but giggle back and forth, (they probably should put a glass door on the washer). With that said, it seems to work just fine. Other than the capacity I can't say it's really worth the premium but this seems to be the way the industry is going so I guess the HE washers are here to stay.

This product works great.
5 Star Review   By asdf123 on Home Depot - Mar 5, 2013

With all the features you have to read the instructions and do a little trial and error but the Washer performs very well. The biggest difference in this machine and others I have owned is the clothes come out of the washer damp, not wet. This makes the workload for the dryer much less and allows me to cycle through my wash loads quicker since I don't have to wait for the dryer to finish near as long or as often.

Very pleased with this washer
5 Star Review   By Mark on Home Depot - Jan 28, 2013

This is the first high efficiency washer I've owned (the last time I purchased a washer was in 1993... it was a Maytag). Needless to say I was a bit apprehensive when I read others horror stories about HE washers in general: torn clothing, odors, mold, etc. I am very pleased with this washer. The feature set is nice: including a "sanitize" setting for very hot washing if needed. The tub is huge, and there is no central spindle for clothes to get caught on. We washed our queen-sized comforters without any difficulty. The controls are easy to use, and provide many choices for ways to wash your clothes. We have had no problems the machine going out of balance. One load stopped because a bunch of towels found their way to one side of the tub, but as soon as I loosened them and spread them out, the wash finished. That seems very much like my experience with non-HE washers over the years, so no complaints. It doesn't use water like a non-HE washer. The sales person explained it like this: old style washers gave clothes a bath, the HE washers give clothes a shower. Uses less water and still gets clothes clean. I found this a useful analogy and agree that clothes come out clean. One perk of the HE washer is that clothes are a lot drier coming out of the machine that my old style washer. The spin cycle must get more water out, which means my dryer runs less.

Three new machines all broken and last one repaired still broken
1 Star Review   By member streetbeat - Jan 14, 2013

Weakness: Fills to top with water, clothes float, tangle and off balance

LG won't let me post this review on their site. I got this washer in late Nov. First one was filling 4" from top on most every load no matter what was in it- in the cotton normal, towels or bulky bedding. Maybe one load out of 10 only filled water just above the clothes. I can replicate this each time also by pausing the cotton cycle after it fills once. Then start again and it fills all the way up. So long story short- I have had three machines sent to me. Each with same issue. Repair man came out today to replace board and pressure sensor and that didn't fix it. So he is scratching head wondering whats up and calling his LG rep. One machine I can live with but now 3?? It now is filling up to inside the top white ring so well above the tub line and about 1-2" from flooding. I am very frustrated since everyone says this is a good machine. I can show in photos or video to prove this. If it is a bad batch the repairman says getting the new board and sensor from LG should have fixed this. Now I get clothes that float and just spin with no agitation and not washing. Been over a month with no resolution.

do not waist you money.
1 Star Review   By amkrtchyan on Home Depot - Nov 25, 2012

Do not buy this product ir has been fixed by the company 3timesafter it was purchased one monhts only becuase it tears clothing. After fixing it 3 times and reimbursing for the cost of toren clothing the company desided that nothing wrong with washer, even though, it kept not working properly and damaging clothing. Keep your money and closthing to yourself instead of waisting it for defective purchase.

Called for service already!
1 Star Review   By Slsteele on Home Depot - Nov 15, 2012

Have only had this washer for 6 weeks and have already had to call for a repair. Called on Tuesday and the service person is to be here Friday. This was the earliest appointment available. I hope this is not going to be just the beginning of problems with this washer. Bought it because of high rating from Consumer Reports. Has cleaned clothes ok and kind of interesting to watch thru the lid. Haven't washed large or heavy items yet so can't really comment about how it cleans those items. Since there are just two of us and holidays aren't here yet I haven't used this washer all that much so VERY disappointed it is already needing service. Hope they make it right quickly and NO further problems. Hate spending this much $ and only working for 6 weeks. Did buy the extended warranty and VERY glad I did! I will write again after repairs.

LG top loader does NOT get the clothes clean
1 Star Review   By dwtl on Home Depot - Nov 12, 2012

It's like trying to wash your clothes in a puddle. We've owned it for 9+ months & tried every cycle, washing in hot, using small loads ... you name it. Smells still smell. Dirt remains. Just terrible.

Great Washer!
5 Star Review   By mnmaverick on Home Depot - Sep 18, 2012

We absolutely love this washer. It gets clothes VERY clean and is very efficient. Love all the features. The only downside is that it is supposedly noisier than some front loaders, but this is not an issue for us and it is still quieter than our old front loader!

HATE IT
1 Star Review   By 2doover on Home Depot - Sep 15, 2012

I have to "add water" to every load or it doesn't give enough to barely cover the clothes. No matter what clothes or settings i use, my clothes are in "knotts". I have to untangle everything. Jeans and long sleves are the worse. Everything seems to have an odd smell. I don't feel that my clothes are clean. Small items ( socks and under garmants) are the only thing that does ok. I got the dryer also and have to set it on "very dry" for everything or i can still feel damp areas.

Great all around machine
5 Star Review   By NavyConch on Home Depot - Aug 25, 2012

An outstanding machine that is big enough for a comforter, bedspread, or blanket. There is even a dedicated setting for those large and bulky items. Advanced enough to properly sense load size for water volume and avoids vibration by stopping and signaling when a load is out of balance. The tub is deep so if your around 5 feet tall, be prepared to stand on your tip toes and lean on the edge to reach your clothes.

One of the best washers I've owned
5 Star Review   By TomB on Home Depot - Aug 9, 2012

This washer is by far one of the best washers I have ever had. Really the only downfall I've had with it is the initial setup. Pay close attention to how level the machine is and make sure your floor can support the machine and doesn't bounce. Also, check your settings for each type of clothes that you wash. Settings are critical to how well this machine works. The custom programs is a nice touch, especially with gentle cycle clothing.

Don't buy this machine!
1 Star Review   By thecakerator on Home Depot - Aug 9, 2012

We bought this machine back in November, 2011. Every two months since, we've had the control board OR the display board replaced. LG does not stand behind their warranties, saying they won't replace the machine. The machine freezes up randomly, there is no rhyme or reason, but they refuse to do anything for us, because they need more "proof" of the problem. If I wanted to stand by the machine every single time I ever do laundry (with a video camera to get "proof") I would not have purchased a thousand dollar machine, I'd have purchased an old ringer washer from a garage sale! Don't buy this machine!

Off Balance Often, Wastes Water and Time!
1 Star Review   By REKCT on Home Depot - Jul 16, 2012

In our experience this machine is completely unforgiving about what it can wash together. We cannot fill the tub more than 1/2 full with clothing or it goes off-balance. The clothing cannot be of different weight fabrics or it goes off-balance. It goes off-balance with the bedding from even one twin bed. It takes more than an hour for each load if you are lucky enough to have it finish without going off-balance. When it does go off-balance, then it wastes a lot of water; it starts over, re-sensing the weight of clothing (of course now wet) so it has to COMPLETELY fill the 4.7 cu ft drum with water!! This will take another half-hour before it can restart the wash, rinse, or spin cycle where it went off-balance. If it was the wash, then it will also then need to refill the ENTIRE 4.7 cu ft drum to do the rinse as well. We find it takes 3 hours before we can get one off-balance load done. But of course, the machine only does its automatic re-balancing one time. If it is goes off-balance a second time, then we had to have a spare wet-laundry hamper to unload the off-balanced load and do it half-at-a-time. Three more hours with wet fabric! In our experience this is the worst washer we have EVER used anywhere, or could ever imagine. Purchasing this washer was a very expensive mistake for us.

It has everything you'll ever need and more
5 Star Review   By nanafour on Home Depot - Jul 3, 2012

The power this washer has is incredible. I have used several different cycles and they all work great. I put a heavy queen size comforter in it with room to spare. I had an expensive front load washer for 6 years and was never happy with the way it cleaned the clothes. It finally died and my repairman recommended this top loader. I really didn't want a top loader but went with his choice and I'm so glad I did. My husband has even commented on how much cleaner the clothes smell and they feel fluffy ! I love the fact that when the wash is complete and you take the items out, the legs and sleeves on pants and shirts are not all tangled together in knots which minimizes wrinkles when drying. The tub is so deep that I can barely reach the clothes at the bottom. I have to really stretch to get small items out. I have only had it for 3 weeks, but, I have put it to the test with all the different types of laundry I have washed and it has done a good job. It is expensive, but, I think it is worth it. Hopefully it will last for many years. I also love the little tune it plays when the wash is complete instead of the annoying beep, beep, beep you get with other washers.

Problems fromthe first month
2 Star Review   By Renee on Home Depot - Jun 30, 2012

Bought it and was so happy that I coulld wash my comforters and pillows at home. The sensor messed up from start, and with almost every load, even self-cleaning loads, it shook like a bunch of elephants were inside of it. They changed the sensor three times already, and LG still has not agreed to replace it. Their customer reps are very rude and unresponsive in a 'polite' manner. Never a call back, never a solution, always promises. I am so tired. Last time we stayed without a washer for over a month. very inconvenient. LG's answer: tough!!

It's ruining my clothes
1 Star Review   By MrsAO on Home Depot - Jun 29, 2012

I've been doing laundry for 20+ years. This washer is staining all of my clothes. My whites have gray blotches. My husbands work shirts aren't coming clean even with stain remover. Our towels have started smelling funny. I'm hoping for some insight. You can't select the water level - it has an automatic detection and I think it doesn't fill enough to provide a proper cleaning. If given a second chance I would buy the standard $600 Kenmore model that resembles what my mother used.

we LOVE this machine! Love doing laundry now!
5 Star Review   By chrislovesdoinglaundry on Home Depot - Jun 29, 2012

Our kenmore front loader gave up so we went looking for a new machine! I was not impressed at all by a front loading machines cleaning technique since it simply sprays water at the clothes and tumbles them around! If I wanted that sort of clean I would put clothes on my kids and have them run through the sprinkler! Decided to go back to the good old traditional yet souped up top loader! LG had the best ratings of all machines we looked at. I have a family of 5 so we have lots of laundry! the 4.7 cu ft tub can fit sooooo many clothes! I can wash our whole family's whites in one go! colors in another and towels in another! boom my laundry is done! and they come out so very clean it is amazing! love all the settings and the sanitize is awesome! the top loader soaks your clothes in water which is what the logical way is to actually clean something unlike the front loader. My front load machine leaked water from the rubber seal on the door it leaked water from beneath the machine as well. And it ate the kids socks! NEVER going back to front load! LOVE this LG top load machine! my kids were so happy they said mama my clothes never felt so soft! my son has issues with eczema and I have noticed he does not itch near as much now! we also have allergies in our family. Washed sheets and other items on sanitize and my husbands allergy symptoms decreased! You will not be sorry with this purchase! one thing you may need to consider is if you are not in the market to buy a set and you are upgrading to a bigger tub size in washer you may need to just save yourself a hastle and buy the matching dryer. Our dryer was in perfect working condition so my husband did not think we needed to replace it. After doing a load of wash and having to dry it in 4 separate loads he realized that we may need to just sell the old and go get the new! My LG steam dryer is coming tomorrow and I cannot wait! A nice little touch is the machine does not have that annoying buzzer that goes off when the laundry is done it plays you a nice lil tune that you can do a lil dance to. Laundry finally made fun and rewarding!!! Been a whole week and I have not had to do laundry yet! I use to do it daily! Cannot say enough how happy we are with this purchase! you get what you pay for! we did spend the extra for the extended warranty simply because we did spend so much for the machine and wanted to feel more secure because of our bad experience with our old Kenmore machine!

Makes doing laundry a more enjoyable chore!
5 Star Review   By Momof5 on Home Depot - Jun 28, 2012

I replaced a HE Front Loader after about 4 years due to mold on rubber seal and stinky "clean" clothes. I decided to go with a HE Top Loader as I didn't want to lose the HE and wanted to get rid of the rubber seal. After much research, decided to go with this LG. I went with this model for the sanitary cycle and the internal heater. My water supply has a distance to go to washer and with my old washer, by the time the warm water reached the washer, the tub was full. The LG model with internal heater means I can wash clothes in warm water if I choose. The washer is easy to use, the tub is huge (although not difficult to reach bottom, even with a bad lower back), lots of cycles to accommodate items, pleasant tune when the cycle is complete. Great idea LG, no more annoying loud buzzers! Spend the little extra to get this model, you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic machine! I am so pleased with it!
5 Star Review   By LtlTornado on Home Depot - Jun 27, 2012

This is the first washing machine I have ever purchased, and so I did my best to do the research. Read many, many reviews, went to several different stores to check out in person the different manufacturers, quality, etc. Overall, I was most pleased with the quality and features of the LG, so I thought - here goes... And what a pleasant surprise! The washing machine does a fantastic job cleaning clothes, bedding, etc. I did not notice ANY issues with the water level chosen by the machine. It was a bit hipnotizing watching it work its magic the first couple of times. You can also override most of the pre-programmed settings to achieve exactly what you want it to do. Our clothes, bedding, and towels came out really clean and with no wear and tear. The machine is able to spin the water out really well, which definitely speeds up the drying process. And everyone loved the musical tune (I had kept that a surprise for the first load)! I would definitely recommend this machine to anyone!

One of the worst purchases in my life
1 Star Review   By Boby on Home Depot - Jun 21, 2012

This is one of the worst purchases in my life. 1) "Super-duper energy efficiency" is achieved by hard tumbling. I ALWAYS set up this machine on the lowest possible setting for soil and spinning, yet it ruined a whole load of clothes. Everything made of knitted fabric (read: all T-shirts and all short-sleeve shirts) after one single washing cycle is stretched to the point that it is no longer usable, precisely - became 2 timed wider and 2 times shorter. Also, I have 2 regular shirts ruined - the machine tears off buttons with pieces of fabric, and just tears apart fine fabric. I want to underline again - it happened on the LOWEST SOIL and SPIN setting. So, basically, if you are interested in "Delicate" cycle - it does not exist. All other cycles have no value, since you will get your clothes ruined anyway. The only thing the machine could be usable - washing jeans and soldier uniforms. Towels and linens are OK too, but forget about washing your clothes. 2) Because it is "high energy efficiency" machine, YOU CAN NOT CHOOSE WATER TEMPERATURE. Well, nominally you can, but in practice it tries to use cold water. In most of the settings except the last one you will get cold water in the washing tank. The highest possible setting "hot/warm" still uses cold water from the tap, and the machine does not have water heater. So, to get hot water only you have to dance abound it, and turn cold water tap off, then on. 3) "Water efficiency" feature does not exist - it has A COUPLE of settings like "half tank" and "full tank". So, if you want to wash a couple of jeans or 4 shirts, you will get A HALF tank of water, and the tank is HUGE. Overall - taking into account the price, the "efficiency", and the amount of good clothes I have spoiled by the machine - this is the worst purchase in my life.

5 Star Review   By superman81 on Home Depot - Jun 10, 2012

Very good washer. I like that little tune that it plays at the end of the cycle. Automatically sets water level which is a nice feature. Also I like that it barely vibrates. I love this washer and I would recommend it to anyone.

The Best By Far...
5 Star Review   By JenniferH on Home Depot - May 8, 2012

I love my new washing machine and dryer! I read the reviews on the previous model and found them to be the best out of most competitors, so I decided to go with the newest model. I'm so glad that I did! :) The washing machine and dryer are super quiet and like previous models, have great ringtones and signals. There is no problem adding clothes to a running load or even adding extra water with a push of a button. (This was a big concern for me since I read in some reviews of other washers, that people were adding buckets of water to get more water into their machine.) Although there are a lot of features, the manual was very easy to understand and the machine is simple to run. The machines are quite large, which is great for doing loads of laundry, but is a little tricky in the size of my room. One thing I would love to have added, would be a button to shoot out some water (a spot wash) so that I could have a little water to rinse out the soap cap. My other washing machine did have this feature and I didn't realize how much I used it. (I don't have a sink in my laundry room.) Overall, GREAT products---nice CLEAN laundry. You will not be disappointed!
