EXCELLENT!!!
5 Star Review   By Tyesmom on Home Depot - Jun 11, 2013

Love this washer! Clothes come out smelling cleaner than our other washer! I am so impressed. You can get a load washed in about 30 minutes, this is the only machine that we found that allows this! You can also wash two queen bed comforters! WOW! WE JUST LOVE IT!

Expensive but worth it!
5 Star Review   Home Depot

This machine works fantactic & even got a few "stains" out that my former GE washer had left in fabrics. I thought the long run cycle might be the only issue, but as it turns out, the machine washes much FASTER on a comparable/normal sized load my former washer took over an hour to wash. Fits LARGE loads and does a great job. The only drawback I can think of is the emotional scares I may have due to the fact that the end of wash chime sends me running for the Ice Cream truck - LOL.

FINALLY-- A REALLY BIG TUB!
5 Star Review   By WM8000H on Home Depot - Jun 4, 2013

I have used this washer daily for the past 6 wks. We average about 2 loads per day & use cold water only. At first, I thought the display panel would be overwhelming but is quite easy to select your preferences. My husband and children say it often sounds like an airplane taking off. I think some of the noise is from our strong water pressure moving through the hoses. It does not seem louder (to me) than our previous machine which thumped VERY loudly during spin cycles & the machine would move around too. We have our new machine on a ceramic tile floor. We did not purchase the pedestal. My favorite features are the spacious tub & the spin cycles are terrific. I'm amazed how dry the clothes feel as I put them into the dryer. Plus, the wash time is much faster than our old machine. I cleaned the drain pump filter for the first time --- my least favorite feature! I followed the directions on page 33 of the owner's manual. They should mention that you need a container to hold about 2 1/2 cups of water, & have several paper towels or washcloths available for spilled water. I cannot imagine how someone with limited mobility could access the drain pump hose or filter. I was flat on the floor trying to see & manipulate the hose & filter. This might be much easier to access if the machine was sitting on the pedestal. I think I will wait much longer next time to drain the hose and clean the filter. This was a big annoyance. Since it has only been 6 wks, I cannot address durability. Our last machine lasted almost 13 yrs.

If you have the room, buy it.
5 Star Review   By ArtfromNorthCarolina on Home Depot - Jun 4, 2013

If washing machines can be exciting,,,, this washing machine is exciting. It holds tons of laundry and has loads of features, Plus according to a major consumer magazine, LG front loaders are tops for reliability. Only negatives are display could be better,,,, I have to bend down slightly to read the controls and drain pump is a bit loud, Otherwise it is pretty much perfect..

Very efficient, quiet, works great.
5 Star Review   By Amycat on Home Depot - May 20, 2013

Washer is very efficient, you can put in very large loads. The washer spins out so much water that drying in the dryer is much faster! There are a number of wash options and machine was not too difficult to figure out. Love this washer.

Love this machine!
5 Star Review   By Lacey on Home Depot - Apr 21, 2013

I read all the reviews and so far, I love this washer. I was looking for large capacity and something that had stability. It definitely takes care of both of those. I am able to wash large loads and have cut down on how many loads I do. Before this washer I had a top loader that would be out of balance all the time and this front loader is amazing. Never off balance. I am going to buy the dryer next year, hopefully it is just as good

Tears clothes to shreds. You've been warned.
1 Star Review   By FrustratedinNC on Home Depot - Apr 6, 2013

I am so grateful that consumers can upload a picture on Home Depot reviews. I could not on the LG website and I am not surprised. This LG is brand new and already destructive. I opened my load of whites to find my two beautiful cotton nightgowns ripped to shreds at the bottom. The entire bottom of one was ripped off and hanging by one part in the back. The other had the same rips and damage, but the more of the bottom was still attached. Both are destroyed. These were washed on the cotton setting with ONE extra rinse. Cotton nighties, cotton setting. So be prepared for your fancy new washer to be rendered useless for washing anything you value. Now I'll only use the delicates setting until they come out and either haul the flipping thing off or fix it. I got the warranty per my parents and sister's encouraging because my sister had problems with her new washer as well (my mom just said it was also an LG-with mold issues) I saw no reason to because my Kenmore front loader I bought 12 years ago only JUST started having issues. 12 years versus 1 month this LG. Consumer's Reports rates this one of the best washers out there. I don't want to see anyone go through the anger I am going through over this--something this expensive destroying things after a month. I'm raging and infuriated. Do no companies make a quality product anymore?

So far so good
5 Star Review   By Mistym1223 on Home Depot - Apr 5, 2013

I have owned this machine for a couple of months and I absolutely love it. I used to feel like my weekends were consumed with laundry. I can fit my king size comforter, sheets and pillowcases in one load. That is amazing. The machine is very quiet. I leave the door open when not in use to keep the machine dry and smelling nice. I would highly recommend this machine to anyone that has a large family.

The product and its replacement lasted less than a month
1 Star Review   By TVinMD on Home Depot - Mar 2, 2013

I had the washer 21 days and it stopped working. No lights, no action. Normal usage for a family of four.LG replaced the washer with the exact same one, brand new. On the 28th day of possession of the new replacement washer, again, no lights, no action. The whole circuit board needs to be replaced. This is machine is horrible. I will never buy an LG product again.

Good for us but no expert
4 Star Review   By Michael on Home Depot - Feb 24, 2013

This is a hard thing to review as it just works. The selection of features is broad with the ability to customize and save your own program. It seems to be well built but with only owning a short time, I can't judge longevity. This model was highly rated by Consumer Reports. I am happy with the purchase.

Convinced made a good decision.
5 Star Review   By Zorro on Home Depot - Feb 15, 2013

Ok, so the LG 5.1 is a bit pricy, but my wife is happy. We never had front loader until now. I like the front loader action better than top loader. More action. King size comforters , no problem. The only reason I didn't give All 5 was price, other than that, great. Oh, yes, buy the warranty from home depot. You can't beat the benefits. Remember a machine was built by humans, so mistakes can and will happen.

Bad news...Washer's door is not reversible.
1 Star Review   By nonreversibledoor on Home Depot - Jan 24, 2013

Hello, We just had our LG8000HVA washer and dryer installed today. Wow, the front door on the washer really doesn't reverse? Seriously for $2700.00 we can't get a washer with a reversible door. The engineers who applied the new magnet close probably wanted to save money and didn't want to include two magnets. Bad decision as this washing machine washes well but will get a bad review from us. Our washing machine water intake valves are on one side of our laundry room and the dryer vent is on the other. The room is small so tubing running here and there for long distances just won't do. LG, you may wish to hire new EEs and MEs. We may have to call Home Depot and say, "Come get them please." Please comment. I would love to hear the reasons behind a non-reversible washer door.

Tons of features
5 Star Review   By chuck on Home Depot - Jan 20, 2013

Been in use for 1 mo. Lots of cycles to choose from though some may take over 1 hour to complete the cycle. Cleans great. Uses very little water. Installed washer on a concrete slab floor so the washer is very stable, even with the highest spin cycle. Wish the end of cycle signal was louder. Monthly maintance is required such as cleaning the filter, detergent tray and tub, but all is easly done.

Much Different From The Top Loader I Had
5 Star Review   By ichi on Home Depot - Dec 19, 2012

I purchased this WM so that I could wash my comforters, one of which is an extremely heavy denim queen size comforter and this machine handled it with no problem. It has lots of features including steam which I REALLY like. Detergent as well as fabric softener go a long way with these high efficiency machines. I gave four bars for quality and value because these remain to be seen (longevity of machine in respect to repairs).

LG Model 8000 Best of the Best
5 Star Review   By Kikki on Home Depot - Nov 15, 2012

I purchased the Model 8000 seven months ago and it is the best of the best! I would wash about 5-6 loads daily in my competitive washer. Now, one load per day is sufficient as this capacity is very large. Plus it gets clothes cleaner and spins until clothes are almost dry. I follow LG's instructions which states dry the front inside door of washer and leave door open after use. I also dry inside the dispenser cup. I haven't had any mildew or odor, machine looks new. LOVE MY LG!

Great Product so Far
5 Star Review   By Michael2417 on Home Depot - Nov 13, 2012

The washer itself is wonderful. Who knew that a simple light bulb inside the washer could make doing laundry so fun!! The cat and I have a great time watching the wash! On a more serious note, I actually watch the wash to see how it works. The amazing system of water management makes total sense why it is so water efficient. The size is wonderful and can handle even our king size comforter. We have only had it for two weeks, but I will update after 6 months or so. 1 word of caution....Measure your opening before you buy!!

Washer LG WM8000 5.1 cu.ft.
4 Star Review   By JANDMB on Home Depot - Nov 8, 2012

I have had this machine only for a month and my previuos machine was a Maytag Neptune, so with that said my expectations about this machine are pretty high. PROS: Quieter, much bigger capacity. CONS: Despite the great variety of programs and options, I find that you can not always modify the predetermined settings of those programs, though I have yet to fully explore the "custom setting" option. It has a "Pre-Wash" options but I wish it had a "Pre-Soak" option instead. Overall construction seems sturdy but the door does not feel as solid, I'm hoping this machine will last as long as my Neptune has (10+ years and still running well) Another point to consider, this machine with the pedestal is taller and more massive overall, we had to move cabinets up in order to place them in the same place I had my previous machines, and if you are around 5'4" person like me, be ready to use a step stool to reach the cabinets on top.

best ever!
5 Star Review   By deni on Home Depot - Nov 3, 2012

This washer is the best ever. After my old top load was done, I purchased 2 others before this one all in one week because I was so unsatisfied with HE top loaders. The size, time it takes to wash, and quiet cycles make this washer the best on the market. We are a family of 8 so I went for the size and time features and was happily surprised by the quiet cycles. I am in love. I only wish I had the dryer, but of course washers and dryers don't break at the same time and I had just bought a dryer in March. It works perfect (darn), but I would love the matching LG dyer because of size. Oh well. Only wish it would have come in all those awesome colors other front loaders come in. It doesn't matter because I would buy it in white again in a heartbeat if that is all they had still in the long ahead future. Maybe it will be bigger one day........... I plan to have this a long time!! I would absolutely say BUY this washer over any other out there, you won't regret it.

very happy. and it's so big I get laundry done in half the time.
5 Star Review   By funchy on Home Depot - Oct 4, 2012

I've only had my washer 2 weeks, so I can't speak of long-term durability. So far I'm very happy with it. It has more features than I expected. I bought it sight unseen from the web site, so I didn't know exactly what it would be like. My last washer was 3.4 cu foot front loader. It finally died, so I upgraded to this bigger unit. The 5.1 cu foot capacity makes a HUGE difference. Now queen and king comforters can be washed properly. I can also do a few smaller items in with most of my queen comforters. It runs much quieter than my old front loaded. It also has yet to go off balance. I like that it has an extra high speed spin cycle. This means clothes come out as dry as possible, so I minimize wasting energy in my dryer. I like that the pre-programmed settings are ones I would use often. It's easy to adjust details of one of the settings with just a touch of the button. Only down side: it's wider than my 3.4 cu foot washer. I suppose this is inevitable since it is a bigger unit. But do keep this in mind when planning where it goes. I could no longer use the pedestal storage drawer from my old washer, either. The larger pedestal drawer is available but seemed to be on back order on the web site. You may have to do without or make your own. I have no idea how durable it is. I do like that this unit lets me clean the screen for the pump. Because my last front loader (a different brand) broke 2x during its many years of service, I opted for the extended warranty on this unit. I don't know if I will need it or not, but with it costing so much to fix any washer, I thought it was a good idea. But so far it hasn't had a single problem. I've run maybe 30-35 loads through it so far. Only thing I wish they had done differently was the sounds they chose for it. Someone spent time making cute little songs as "on" and "end of cycle" sounds. Trouble is nobody can hear the cute little song down the hall, so I have to keep checking to see when the cycle is done. However, I do like it gives a minute countdown for the cycle, so I just know to come back in X minutes. Overall it's a nice machine. Now that I have a full sized washer, I don't think I could go back to the little 3 cu foot ones.
