Happy with the washer
5 Star Review   By Tig123456789 on Home Depot - May 23, 2013

I can tell my clothes are cleanned better than with my old washing machine (top loader). This machine holds two times the amount of clothes than my other machine and I don't have to do so many loads of laundry. The only negative I can notice is with the last spin cycle, the machine bounces for a few seconds (which is loud) and then it's over. I'd say it was definitely worth the price. I'm pleased with how clean my clothes/towels/bedspreads are. I also have the dryer on top of the washer and love the amount of space saved by stacking the two together.

Love, love, love this machine!
5 Star Review   By Hatlady on Home Depot - May 14, 2013

I love all of the features, like extra rinse. I love that I don't have to guess at the water level. It determines that on its own. I little longer than my old machine to complete the wash, but love all of the special features! The cute, little end-of-wash jingle almost makes washing clothes fun. Clothes come out with much less water, which shortens drying time. This I hear is common for all front-loaders. I highly recommend this machine to anyone interested in a new washer.

I'm extremely happy with this washer
5 Star Review   Home Depot

I bought this washer a few days ago. I absolutely LOVE it. It's quiet (except for some vibration and "jet engine" noises when the spin cycle is getting revved up, which is a common issue with ALL front loaders which spin 1200 RPM or faster) when washing and rinsing - I can literally hardly hear it at all, and it's right outside my bedroom door in the hallway. I did a TON of research and settled on this washer as the best compromise of price (in my case around $800 - more on that later), capacity, features, and "Brand Reliability." LG scores well with reliability, although there are some horror stories about some of their top-load washers (see the videos on the #1 ranked video web site - search "LG washer exploding".) Samsung and LG are about head-to-head in reliability and features, although in technology, Samsung might be a bit ahead - they have a washer now with an 8" touch screen which handles all functions and is wi-fi enabled. But it's also about $300-$500 more expensive than this LG WM3470HWA washer. This is one of the top-rated models according to a well-known consumer testing agency, as well as on this Home depot website. It also scores well on other websites which sell a lot of appliances - you can search for the results yourself. The washing experience is great. Tons of options when it comes to choosing what cycles to use for which clothes. The 4.0 cubic feet rating means it can wash a LOT of clothes in one load. It has the TurboWash feature which can get a load finished in about 25 minutes, if the soil level is not too bad and you are in a hurry. The 1200 RPM spin speed means many clothes come out virtually DRY. Polyester polo shirts? Practically dry. I washed a thin blanket and it went straight from the washer right onto my bed - just slightly damp. You want to be cautious if you have this on a second-level-or-higher wooden floor, as the spin cycle can get noisy for people below. There are rubber "vibration reduction feet" you can buy on this website and others if you need them. On a lower-level concrete floor, you'll be fine. One other common issue with this washer seems to be "water hammer" problems. With older plumbing, or higher water pressure than normal, this washer might cause your pipes to "bang" or make noises when it fires its internal water jets during the wash cycle. This can be easily solved with $20 worth of "water hammer arrestors" which can be purchased at most hardware stores, and also here on the Home Depot website. I bought myself a pair of them, since my apartment complex is "older" and I just wanted to make sure this problem did not bother either myself or the neighbors. So far, I have heard NO pipe sounds with the arrestors installed. They go on at the back of the washer, between the water hose and the washer. You can do a web search and find all this information. I did buy a 5-yr extended warranty to cover myself in case of problems, but the warranty offered by Home Depot was very inexpensive. The motor is warrantied by LG for 10 years, the stainless steel tub for lifetime, and all else for 1 year. I was tempted to only give this washer 4 stars because of the potential for water hammer noise and the fact that it might not be perfect for laundry rooms on the second floor or above which have wooden floors. But as far as performance and how much I love it, 5 stars for sure and I could not shortchange it !!! One other possibly helpful note: If you order this online and pay with PayPal, the Home Depot ordering system MIGHT have a glitch. It did with mine. I had to call in and place the order with an agent, and pay with another payment method on the phone, in order to get the order to go through. Big plus for me, however: because Home Depot's system messed up my order and I missed my desired delivery date, they gave me a decent discount on my order. This was above the call of normal customer service, and I am thankful to them for their cooperation and understanding. They earned my respect and my future business with one intelligent customer service decision. Kudos !!

Great clothes washer
5 Star Review   By Maab on Home Depot - May 7, 2013

I really like how well this washer spins the clothes and that is faster than my previous front loader. It is too soon to tell anything about durability. The only issue I have is that the instruction recommend cleaning the filter once a week and so far I have not managed to extract the filter. Even if (when) I will do so, there is the complication that one has to drain it first.

DOOR OPENS THE WRONG WAY
3 Star Review   By DisappointedPurchaser on Home Depot - May 7, 2013

i am so disappointed. I would not have purchased this product without more research had I realized that the door opens from right to left, so that it is difficult to transfer clothes to my dryer. Apparently the door is not reversible, as it was on my previous washing machine. YUCK! Also, the various indicators are not clearly marked - some labels are difficult to read without a flashlight and a bit of contorting.

5 Star Review   By Nose on Home Depot - May 7, 2013

Got it one month ago and have been using it every week. It gets the job done and it's relatively quiet. The only negative is that the cycle times pretty long. Overall I highly recommend it.

Great washer
5 Star Review   By GJWI on Home Depot - May 4, 2013

We have been using this washer for a few months now and it works great. The turbowash cleans well and is good at saving water. Also, after a cat used one of our coats as a litter box, we tried out the sanitary settings and the coat came out good as new. The washer also looks nice and is easy to use.

intermittent issues with vent/mushroom valve
3 Star Review   By mikeC on Home Depot - Apr 30, 2013

I was very excited to get this unit.. Upon my 2nd wash/load, i noticed some water on the floor.. and upon further inspection, determined it was coming out of the air vent in the back. Called authorized service dealer and he said this is not uncommon.. Apparently the vent serves to allow excess pressure out of the chamber/tub.. and there is a simple "mushroom valve" that sometimes fails/sticks, allowing water to blow out along with the air.. He said sometimes when new they stick, and also using more than 2 tablespoons of detergent can cause excess sudse, which in turn cause the water issue. I've had unit about 3 weeks now, and I've seen the water on the floor (equates to about a cup) 2 or 3 additional times.. only with very large loads.. or if i fill detergent up to the lower end of the tab in the detergergent tray.. Going to give it another couple of weeks and then call them back to have valve replaced if it continues.. but it seems like the valve is moving very freely, so not sure that will address the problem..

Very happy
4 Star Review   By sfinep on Home Depot - Apr 30, 2013

So far so good. Definitely much better cleaner than my former top loader -- just simple things that the other washer couldn't get out. And load capacity seems huge to me. Some reviewers complained about this, but I don't agree it's plenty large. And the spin must get out a lot more water, because my dryer seems to be working better too. The only complaint is the noise -- it bangs the water pipes loudly when injecting water and they vibrate in the walls. It goes through several occurrences of this especially in the beginning but I don't really care that much. And also I'm struggling to understand what all the bells and whistles do -- like turbo and steam - should you use alone or together. I haven't figured it out and they can add some serious time to the wash cycle. Can't comment on efficiency yet -- we haven't had it long enough to see the water bill through. Front loader is so nice. We're putting a counter top above washer/dryer so laundry can actually be folded and stay in the laundry room before being put away.

Good value, great washer
5 Star Review   By Suzanne on Home Depot - Apr 23, 2013

For the price paid, this washer is excellent. It is high efficiency, large capacity and has a lot of features. It washed all types of loads well, with no issues. It looks good too in my laundry room. The only con is that the electronic controls can be slightly confusing at first, you may need to read the manual to change your wash settings.

Love My New Washer!
5 Star Review   By BigBearMom on Home Depot - Apr 16, 2013

I did a LOT of research before ordering. I looked at a similar washer by another maker but it had quite a few negative comments. So far I love my washer. I did all my bedding using the steam cycle. No problem with the big loads. Also it plays a cute little tune at the end. Not a big deal, but if you have to do laundry you might as well get a smile from it. I like the magnetic door feature that keeps the door ajar. The installation team was on time, efficient and polite. Only negative is that when putting this in the shopping cart it says you must buy hoses. The hoses are actually included, so the only way you NEED to buy hoses is if you want the braided steel ones instead of rubber.

4 Star Review   By BrannonJ on Home Depot - Apr 10, 2013

The washer is great but had i known that i have to leave the door open and wipe the inside each time i use it or drain a little hose on the bottom twice a month and clean a filter, i would have reconsidered. Just a little inconvenient.

Great washer
4 Star Review   By JRadFks on Home Depot - Apr 9, 2013

The washer is very water and power efficient. Spins quietly, clothes are clean and almost spun dry. We are wiping out the seal and leaving the door cracked open as recommended and after about 6 weeks we have had no odor issues. Time will tell about reliability. So far, we are very pleased with our purchase.

Do NOT buy this machine! It is a waste of your money!
1 Star Review   By disgruntled on Home Depot - Apr 3, 2013

We have had this machine for 5 months and I wish I could return it. We have had two other brands of front-loaders, with no problems; we should have bought another like them. This machine overflows frequently, and now we are expected to go through lengthy cleaning procedures monthly to keep it from overflowing. I am in the middle of that now, so we will see if it takes care of the problem. Some of the instructions my husband had to find online; they weren't included in the owner's manual. When it doesn't overflow, it seems to do a good job of cleaning, but I still would not buy it again; I wish I could get my money back.

Very Satisfied
4 Star Review   By Laundryforsale on Home Depot - Mar 31, 2013

We reviewed many different models of front loaders and top loaders. Utimately deciding to go with the LG DLEX3470W Washer and Dryer because it was one of the highest rated on Consumer Reports and it was on a great sale for Black Friday At Home Depot last November. When the men came to install it everything looked sleek. The delivery man even told me that they rarely have to come back to pick up LG models. When they set everything up they did not level the washer by adjusting the legs or feet on the bottom of the machine. When the washer began it's spin cycle, it did knock and rock quite loudly. This was only due to the not adjusting the feet so that it would not teeter. After my husband adjusted that it was great. It spins very quickly! And after using the washer for over 5 months, the feet do need to be adjusted a bit, but this is not a nuisance. It's amazing the washer doesn't take flight every time it begins it's spin cycle. With my first load of laundry, I made sure I knew where every stain on my kids clothes was. I purposely did not put any stain remover. I had spaghetti stains, underwear stains, dirt, etc... After running the Bright White cycle, everything came out clean. No traces of any stain. I do love all of the settings. I use delicates, bright whites, steam clean for those sick days, delicates and wool/hand washables. I throw in my queen comforters and sheets with ease. My four kids love to turn on the machines and watch the lights and listen to the happy songs it sings you. I've been very satisfied. My one bit of concern is my clothing doesn't seem to come out as soft. The fibers in the clothing seem to ball up more with the washer. It might be due to the spinning or the HE detergent? Not sure. I've used fabric softener and it helps a little. My old top loader and dryer finally quite and I've been happy with the new front loader from LG. We live in Oregon and moisture is abundant, however, I simply leave the washer door open at night while we are sleeping if I've washed that day. Then in the morning, close it just enough for the magnet to hold the door slightly open. We've had no trouble with mold.

LOVE my new washer
5 Star Review   By biblecat on Home Depot - Mar 26, 2013

This washer is GREAT! I bought it to replace a high end Maytag that I hated. This LG has none of the problems I experienced with the Maytag such as ridiculously loud spin cycle, retaining water, and smelling moldy all the time. I've been using this LG for 3 months now. It looks great, smells clean and I don't feel like I should clean the washer after each use. I would highly recommend this washer. It is a good price with all the HD discounts and delivery was painless.

Excellent control display and drum size.
5 Star Review   By gardener on Home Depot - Mar 19, 2013

This is our first front loader. I am amazed at how much less water the front loader uses! I selected the 4.0 cu. ft. size machine to accomodate my king sized bedding. Very pleased. I also like the easy-to-use lit control display and the numerous options for varying loads. Most impressed with how literally lint-free the clothes come out of the wash! After three loads my dryer screen had only a "skim" of lint on the bottom third! The big change was the longer time the machine runs compared to my old one, but it's worth it - less water and energy used.

pleasantly surprised!
4 Star Review   By Delia on Home Depot - Mar 13, 2013

I fought buying HE washers thinking there was no way they could get my clothes clean like a traditional washer. Wow was I wrong! I bought this washer based on reviews from other customers - thank you to everyone who took the time to write one. This washer not only washes better than my traditional top loader it is aesthetically pleasing too. I washed my towels on the sanitary mode and could not believe how clean they were using just detergent alone - no bleach or oxyclean. If you are hesitating - worry no more. This is one cool machine. Also, if you are concerned about vibration on a 2nd flr - dont! I have this washer/dryer set on my 2nd flr with the anti-vibration pads underneath. Little to no vibration is heard or noticed. Its much quieter than my standard machine. Also kudos to the guys who delivered it - they had excellent customer service. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because the rubber seal does smell a bit. My clothes dont smell like it, thank goodness, but there is a distinctive odor.

Almost makes doing laundry fun
5 Star Review   By TyGuy on Home Depot - Mar 5, 2013

Great capacity. In my opinion, it's worth the extra money to go for a larger size. Gets clothes cleaner than my old top-load washer. Lots of settings that seem complicated but in reality are intuitive-- easy to use. Makes very little noise through most of the wash, but it does get noisy for short periods of time, I guess when it's spraying water or filling.

Excellent investment
5 Star Review   By sunshine on Home Depot - Mar 5, 2013

So far, I'm totally happy with this purchase. The cycle choices and alternatives are amazing and the clothes come out very clean. This machine replaces an HE top loader and it does a much better job. The drain hose for cleanout is a plus for avoiding musty odor buildup.

Easy to use and really gets your clothes clean!
5 Star Review   By HappyLGUSER on Home Depot - Feb 27, 2013

The LG 4.0 High Efficiency front load washer is the best washing machine I have ever owned. It is extremely efficient in its water and energy use, which the user never has to think about. The machine has its own built in energy intelligence! I highly recommend this washing machine.

Better than I expected
5 Star Review   By Teddybearra on Home Depot - Feb 27, 2013

Much quieter than expected and as far as the odor issues mentioned in previous reviews there is none with the exception of a new smell. I'm on the second floor and thought vibration might be an issue but it's so quiet I find myself having to open the door to make sure it is still running. The magnetic latch holding the door open is an excellent feature.

I have only had my washing machine for a few weeks, but am very pleased. There are different cycles to match different needs. The spin cycle works really well, I notice that clothes now need less time in my (old) dryer.

Excellent Washer
5 Star Review   By Hazel on Home Depot - Feb 19, 2013

At this point, we have only had this washer for a month, but it is quiet, efficient, and easy to use. Front loaders require one to keep the door open, but this one is designed with a magnet that holds it open an inch or so automatically, so it doesn't stick out into the room, and one doesn't really need to remember that detail. Filling the detergent is a snap: If you have a container with a push spout, just leave it on the washer above the fill tray.

Pleased with Washer, not with Home Depot
3 Star Review   By jliles01 on Home Depot - Feb 14, 2013

Single man here, and 1 month owner. Washes my clothes at least as well as my 18 yr old washer. More features than I need. Energy & water efficiency remains to be seen. Louder than old washer, but not a problem for me. Quality & value I am happy with. I can tell that clothes need less time in dryer, due to high spin cycle. Going from top-loader to front-loader does take a little getting used to.

review after 1 year of use
5 Star Review   By fischjb on Home Depot - Feb 14, 2013

We have had unit for one year and has worked as advertised. I have not had any odor problems(I did read the owners manual). Use the correct detergents and leave the door open will solve that issue. As far a the wash itself, the LG does a great job, clothes come out clean and fresh. I have also noticed less wear on clothes around collars and sleeves. Great machine and I would buy one again.

Well-designed washer
5 Star Review   By mrgeek on Home Depot - Feb 13, 2013

The LG WM3470HWA washer is a thoughtfully designed machine. It is loaded with features, but they are relatively easy to use. The machine looks great (for a washer). It would look even better in the metallic gray color, but we opted for white to save $100 (and the machine is hidden in a cabinet anyway). This is certainly not an inexpensive machine, but we feel we are getting what we paid for. We are especially pleased with how quiet the high-speed spin cycle is. One word of advice: the turbo wash really bangs the plumbing. Put water hammer arresters on the hot and cold lines to eliminate that problem.

Great washer
5 Star Review   By Sue99 on Home Depot - Feb 12, 2013

We love it...no problems and It wrings out the water so well. It has absolutely shaven off drying time. The cycles last long but since the washer is energy efficient and dryers aren't we don't mind. There are a myriad of cycle options so that can be a bit of a hassle figuring the best one but still a great unit.

Very Pleased with quality, features and value
5 Star Review   By Jennifer on Home Depot - Feb 12, 2013

I had an 8 year old top of the line magtag neptune washer. Unfortunately it only lasted 8 years. I thoroughly researched washers before purchasing this one. I even paid for a months subscription for consumer reports to get that information ($6.99 I think). I chose this washer for several reasons. One is that LG brand was rated as the best washer for having the least amount of repairs. Another was the value. I shopped around online and Home Depot had the best deal. It even beat a deal I found at the Sears outlet store for an out of the box machine with some cosmetic issues. Plus, Home Depot delivers for free and hauls away the old machine for no charge. I also found that the features this machine had, especially the capacity (4.0) and steam/allergen option was a great value compared to other machines. One comment that consumer reports made about washers is that more money doesn't necessarily mean a better washer based on their testing and reviews! I also liked the fact that this machine's motor has a 10 year warranty (the motor is what went out on the maytag) because I really do use and abuse my washer!! So far I'm pleased and have no complaints.

A very good clothes washer
5 Star Review   By TimH on Home Depot - Feb 12, 2013

The washer is very good. I has many settings and washes cloths very clean with little wasted water. My wife loves it. We also purchased the matching dryer DLGX3471W a couple of months ago because our then existing Fisher-Paykel (piece of junk) died. We liked the dryer so much we decided to buy the washer. We are very pleased with both. Please see my input on delivery & installation company also. Home Depot customer service was fine but the delivery/installation company was terrible.

BEST PERFORMING WASHER/DRYER AVAILABLE!
5 Star Review   By ApplianceSpecialist on Home Depot - Feb 1, 2013

I sell appliances for a living and I bought from The Home Depot because they have the best price. The complants I read are on previouse reviews are due to USER ERROR (they don't have the lint trap pushed down all the way) I am an appliance professional and very educated on washer dryers and LG is light years ahead of anyone else and are inovating the industry. They are the only "steam" units that use REAL STEAM! (BOTH THE WASHER AND DRYER HAVE STEAM GENERATOR THAT CONVERT THE WATER TO STEAM AND PUT IT THROUGH YOUR CLOTHES AS REAL STEAM.) Every other manufacture just sprays water mist into a hot drum so the dryer canot sanitize and remove oder! Only LG can do this because they use real steam! Steam is +212 degrees and a gas, not a liquid like a water mist is, so being both incredibly hot and a gas, the steam is able to penitrate fabric and kill odor and bacteria in ways water mist can not. So it can remove stains with out bleeding colors and kill 99% of allergines and dust mites in the washer. Steam in the dryer is even better and more usable, aside from getting rid of wrinkles/static, you can sanatize and deoderize all your non-washable items. Weather you just need to dewrinkle and freshen up a golf shirt, or you you want to sanatize and deoderize a nonwashable comforter or coat, you can do it all in this LG steam dryer! The Dryer only takes 30 min to dry a large load and I use the steam to sanitize and remove oder in my pillows, couch cushions, shoes, hats etc. Anything that gets dirty but is previously unwashable can be sanitized and de-oderized. These machines work together, so if you want to lessen your dry time then turn up the spin speed on your washer. If one takes the time to read the cycle selction section of the manual and use the machines CORRECTLY, then one will get the best washer/dryer money can by! There are many usable settings and if one wants to buy machines as nice and advanced as these, yet select the same cycle every time and use them the same way that they used their old washer/dryer, then dont bother! However if one is willing to learn and adapt to new things, select the appropriate cycles, and use the machines how they were DESIGNED to be used, you will have fantastic results! The technology is superior and new, and just like going from a 20 year old car to a brand new model there are a few simple/small adjustments that one must learn then apply to get the full benifits of these units, and trust me it is both easy and worth it! I would recomend these units to anyone! Another 5 star LG product!

Over all I would buy again
4 Star Review   By JRKa on Home Depot - Jan 18, 2013

Had this unit 4 weeks and went to clean drain filter. Followed instructions and attempted to drain excess water in filter unit. No water would drain. Opened the filter housing and water started to flow out. Hose is blocked for unknown reason. Called LG for warranty service and had very difficult time understanding the woman on the phone. She kept referring "the drain hose on the right" when in fact it was on the left. She advised she would have contract warranty provider come to the house on Monday but I had to call the company to confirm that. Unit cleans cloths well but we have had problems with it getting out balance when sheets are on spin cycle. We have to stop unit, and rearrange the load. So much for the "True Balance System". Pedestals are way over priced and I wish they were taller. We purchased the front loader because of my wife's back problems and she still has to bend to extract cloths.

Happy so far
5 Star Review   By AmyG on Home Depot - Jan 15, 2013

I am a person who researches past the point of it being comfortable. I purchased this item based on as many reviews as I could find. I would prefer to write my review of the washer in about 4 years, but know that I did not want to continue to receive review reminders until then. So.... as an owner of an LG washer for a tad over a month - I am a happy customer.

Quiet and good washer
5 Star Review   By rwright on Home Depot - Jan 3, 2013

Honestly the washer (and dryer combo) was more money than I wanted to spend. Actually, the machines were ok on price but the pedestals were rediculous. But I have to say that the washer exceeded out expectations. We wanted a "quiet" washer based on our house layout. A leading consumer magazine recommended this unit which is why we went with it. And it really is pretty quiet. But the wash performance is the biggest surprise. Our clothes come out smelling fresher (and clean) than we ever experienced with our old setup. Huge difference. Very satisfied with performance. HD delivered and setup; no issues, people were very nice and careful bringing in. Only rated 4 stars on value based on the over priced pedestals.

LG WM3470HWA Washer
4 Star Review   By dbslws on Home Depot - Dec 20, 2012

Although this washer really takes some getting used to, and really isn't as easy to use as the Maytag Neptune it replaced, it does some HUGE loads! And it does them WELL. Clothes don't stick to the drum as much (many times we had to really stretch to reach small items that had bonded to the drum of the Maytag). And the Maytag had to be unplugged after use...or it thought you wanted to do a load of wash if its door was opened or the power went off momentarily--as in a tree branch touching the 10 KV power line out on the highway. THIS machine seems happy to be plugged in all the time. And its door can be left open or closed; it doesn't mind. It even comes with a magnetic stop so the door can be MOSTLY closed, but open just enough to allow air circulation to minimize mold growth or odors. Unlike the Maytag, this machine's top is one huge shelf to put stuff on. All controls and dispensers are on the front. That is both an advantage and a disadvantage. The controls seem to always be in one's own shadow. The 'settings' panel DOES light up, which helps. But inasmuch as all the dispensers are in a drawer that pulls out from the left front of the machine, spills go on the floor instead of the top of the machine. Although the floor under the machine is vinyl, the floor in front of the machine is carpet. One has to be a little bit careful NOT to spill stuff. Even though the owners' manual says not to use powdered detergent in the removable dispenser cup, we have found that some dry additives (like baking soda) can be added with the liquid detergent with no problems. As with the Maytag, you don't NEED very much detergent. The min/max markings on the dispenser cup are irrelevant for us...we measure liquid detergent by the tablespoonful. And thus far, have had good results. Although, heavily soiled items can take a long time to wash. One load took well over an hour. Suggestion: use the HIGH spin speed whenever possible. Your clothes will be more nearly dry and will fluff better if dried indoors, will take less time on the line outside, or will save drier time (and energy [=money]) if dried in a drier. In winter, we often fluff clothes briefly in the drier [cold cycle], then hang them in the cellar near our heating apparatus. Most dry overnight, some sooner. Then, we fluff them again [cold cycle] briefly. If you DON'T use high spin speed, clothes will be wetter when hung, and will dry somewhat stiff. The door of this machine (which opens LEFT and is NOT reversible) does not open flat (parallel to the front of the machine). It opens maybe 120 degrees. That hasn't been a problem for US, as we keep the door mostly closed when not putting wash in or taking wash out. But it might be a problem if the machine is installed in a busy area of a home. THIS washer is NOT standard height. It's almost 3 inches higher than the drier beside it. (NEITHER has the optional pedestal base). That hasn't caused any real problems, but it looks weird. This machine is noisey when extracting (particularly when on HIGH spin speed). It makes almost as much noise as did the Maytag (which had bad bearings when removed from service). Also, the reversing drum rotation, although it seems to do a good job cleaning the clothes, can be strange to listen to. NEVER PUT YOUR HOME OFFICE NEAR THE LAUNDRY! Decison to buy LG was in part due to the fact that someone online had replaced the bearings in his LG at home. The owners' manual doesn't exactly cover that. But now that I have dissected the Maytag, it seems do-able. The Maytag repairman assured me that to remove and replace $17 worth of bearings and a $38 seal--now that the machine is out of warranty--would cost MORE than to buy a new machine @$799!!!! Removing the seal and the inner bearing on the Maytag IS a thoroughly miserable job due to corrosion (they're apparently under water part of the time the machine is actually doing wash). Here's hoping the LG is better designed. Only the future will tell. But, so far (and notwithstanding its few quirks), we LIKE this machine. One thing we [I] noticed when we started using a front-load washer: Most of my shirt collars had been badly abraded by being washed in a top-loader. They lasted for YEARS being washed in the Maytag. Hopefully, THIS machine should do as well or be even gentler on them. Although, dress shirts would be one item NOT to use high spin speed. If they're a little damp after fluffing, hanging them on a non-metalic (rust proof) hanger can often eliminate any need for ironing. Needless to say, allowing the shirts to remain in the washer or drier long enough for wrinkles to set would change that. So the alarm signal on this machine to alert one that the wash is DONE, is a good thing. And the fact that you can wash WITHOUT the alarm, is also a good thing.

AWESOME!!!!
5 Star Review   By Catwoman on Home Depot - Dec 4, 2012

We have searched and researched; visited friends and tried out their machine; agonized over it and then looked some more to make sure this financial investment was really the best use of our hard earned money. After almost a month of using the machine I say, "YES IT IS!!!". It is silent; it is fast; is has a myriad of options. Customizing laundry was not even on my radar but I am oh so glad I have the choices. One thing of note: the whites come out very white. Even the socks of my 3 youngest are almost back to sparkling. I did notice a slight odor at the beginning but after running it through a few cycles the smell disappeared.

A tip or two
5 Star Review   By Nvjen on Home Depot - Nov 26, 2012

This is our first front loader, and we have done plenty of research before committing. The fact that the door and seal must be wiped dry is necessary for all front loaders we checked out. So I keep a flour sack style towel hung on a small adhesive hook on the side of the washer to wipe it down after I use it. This is not unlike clearing the lint from the dryer, no big deal. Definitely use the magnet which keeps the door open just enough for the air flow. The spin is impressive, and there is just a short vibration when it ramps up and slows down. The washer is not on concrete, so maybe that would make it quieter. Overall the washer is much, much quieter than the top loader we had. I like that you can do quicker washes if you want, but the extended wash options are awesome. Huge drum for huge loads! Also, should you stack the washer and dryer, keep in mind your height may require a step stool. I am 5'6" and I noted that a couple inches shorter might make it difficult to reach all the way in the back of the dryer. You will need a step stool to fill the steam reservoir for the dryer. I can't rate the washer in some areas yet as we have had it just a couple days. I admit I am still fascinated by the wash process. Otherwise the rest of the reviews pretty much cover it. I am more than pleased so far, and it that changes I will update this review.

Nicely designed...
4 Star Review   By Xristian on Home Depot - Nov 26, 2012

This is a very nicely design washing machine. It's much more silent that our old front-loading Maytag and shakes a lot less. The controls are intuitively laid out. I took a star away for one reason. High-efficiency washing machines like this one have quick-action valves that often create 'water hammers' (rattling pipes) in some houses like ours. The open-close cycle happens often as the machine is balancing it wash load. This 'banging' is caused by the high debit water rushing in and hitting the fast-closing valve and bouncing back in the pipes. A quick search online shows this is a very common occurrence. And it can be easily solved by adding 'water hammer arresters' (found at Home Depot) to both supply lines. I find it disappointing that manufacturers don't seem to acknowledge this potential problem, don't provide 'water hammer arresters', or better, build them into their washing machine... Nonetheless, this is a top-of-class washing machine.

Awesome washer!
5 Star Review   By babs on Home Depot - Nov 20, 2012

We LOVE this washer! It does a great job with very little detergent and very little water. And the spin cycle is so good that clothes come out barely damp, which means less time in the dryer or hanging to dry time for the delicates. The drum is really big and I find myself able to do fewer loads which is also a plus. The people who have written negative things appear to be unfamilar with front loaders. For ALL front loaders you should leave the door ajar when it's empty so it can dry out/air out otherwise they will get musty. Hardly a tough thing to remember to do, and this model has a special button that keeps the door from sealing so you can easily leave it ajar for airing, and it doesn't just "hang open".

Superior in many ways
5 Star Review   By Alecat308 on Home Depot - Nov 20, 2012

So far this washer is by far the best we have ever owned or used. The clothes are noticeably cleaner and brighter. Once you use the steam feature you will wonder how you washed clothes without it! The delivery team, through GE, was also one of the best we have ever had. We live in a 300 year old house and the entry with the new and exit with the old was challenging. These two gents were champs!!!! Bravo.

Great Product!
5 Star Review   By Suby on Home Depot - Nov 19, 2012

Used this for the 1st time this past weekend - and have never been more amazed! It took me half the time to do my regular weekly washing and that was using the preloaded settings (Perm Press). Nice large capacity, ultra silent and pretty easy to operate. Assembly was a bit tedious since there are shipping bolts that have to be removed and they were on really tight, but other than that it all went smoothly. I will get used to having to wipe the front door and door seal after each use to prevent mildew so I dont think that will be an issue. I think its worth noting that I had to contact LG customer service about an issue relating to a missing part on another new appliance I purchased and the experience was horrendous - terrible customer service, so in terms of durability, I sure hope i dont have to contact LG for any warranty issues with this item!

Works very well
5 Star Review   By TemeculaMom on Home Depot - Oct 3, 2012

I've only had these for about 100 days, but they work so well. I have the LG set and I couldn't be happier unless, of course, someone did my laundry for me. My last set of a different brand were horrible, so I bought these because I read they're least in need of repair. They're also whisper quiet, energy efficient and get the clothes clean and dry. I highly recommend.

5 Star Review   By Dgbh on Home Depot - Sep 18, 2012

I've only had this for a few weeks, but so far I'm loving all the features of this washer. I had an LG Washer before, and was very happy with the performance, but it finally conked out on me...so went ahead and bought an LG again. I felt it was a good value to upgrade to a little bit bigger machine, it is so worth it. I'm loving the turbo wash and the steam cycle, shorter washes, but clothes are coming out cleaner.

4 Star Review   By Melanie on Home Depot - Sep 18, 2012

I love this washing machine. The features are great and it does a fabulous job cleaning our clothes. I love the little lights and the cute noises it makes when you are adjusting the settings. Lots of options for settings. The only problem is that the rubber around the door gets moldy and kind of gross - so you have to leave the door open to let it air dry after you are done.

It has a lot features. Great price and great size to hold very big load, very efficient. Operation is super quite. Looks great.

Good product
4 Star Review   By Chester on Home Depot - Sep 13, 2012

This is a good product. I bought it together with the matching dryer from Homedepot a week ago when it was on sale. Great price, quick delivery, free installation and haul away of the old appliances. The washer and dryer both look excellent, has all the functions I need. It is super quiet, and takes almost twice as much a load as my old topload washer. The only thing that bothers me a little is the strong smell from the the sealing rubber. Many other customers also complained about it. I have no choice but keep the wahser door open all the time. The cloths smell ok, though. I would have given it a 5 star if not for the smell. Hope the smell will get less as times goes by.

A little pricey but it cleans exceptionally well. Uses little water.
5 Star Review   By EJDubya on Home Depot - Aug 30, 2012

We decided that we would go with a good washer and after reviewing the Consumer Reports ratings, decided that this LG was the best choice for us. We are not disappointed. The washer was a little bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. The machine washes gently but thoroughly and a stubborn stain that our prior washer did nothing for was substantially cleaned up with this machine. On top of all that it's energy efficient and doesn't use a lot of water to get the clothes clean.

Not sure yet if there's a problem
2 Star Review   By beenhere3months on Home Depot - Aug 29, 2012

I initially liked this washer but have been washing so far only towels, sheets, and my ferret's blankets - did not like what happened to a blanket made of faux fur - could always wash it in warm water washing machine before - it's kind of ruined because the way the water swirls made the flat smooth fur get all kind of curly and the blanket itself feels thinner. I also tried washing some clothes that had pretreated stains and it did not get the stains out - I was afraid to use the turbowash feature because of what happened to the faux fur. Lately I have been trying to use cold washes, but when they have finished and I open the door, everything inside is hot! I thought the machine must not be hooked up right but it *looks* right - cold to cold, hot to hot. Customer service said maybe it's because of the fast spinning, it makes them hot. ? I looked up centrifugal force but could not find an instance where it ever created heat. CS told me to call repairman, but repair store told me if it *is* hooked up wrong or there is a plumbing problem I will have to pay the $$ for the call. So I said no and I want to do a few more tests first. Like stop the machine in middle of cold wash (if I can!), and make sure water is cold. See if I can stop in middle of a rinse, make sure *that* water is cold. Then I can see if the final result is hot again. But my experience sounds a lot like "czar from new orleans," who said the machine shrank all her clothes. I wanted to just switch the hot and cold connections to the pipes, which CS said would not void the warranty, but they're too tight and in too awkward a position to get a purchase on with plyers. I don't know whether I should call Home Depot and see of their people who do the installations could come out and double check that the hot and cold are really correct (the faucets on my pipes have the same color handles and are not labeled - but the management of my complex insists the cold is *always* on the right, which would make the connection correct). :)

Some good features but overly complicated
4 Star Review   By jaudet on Home Depot - Aug 29, 2012

has a lot of bells and whistles but lack a plain spin cycle. Your only option is rinse and spin. Since there are no dials and only buttons controlling the cycle you can't bypass the rinse. Overall though a nice product.

Pleased
5 Star Review   By PS1966 on Home Depot - Aug 28, 2012

Very pleased so far. In the beginning we were a little concern with the complicated look of the washer, but soon realize that it was a piece of cake to operate.

Clean clothes, funny smell
4 Star Review   By WashingFool on Home Depot - Aug 28, 2012

Chose this washer because it's #1 on consumer reports. Had it for a month and it's a tremendous improvement over our top-loader--cleaner clothes, gentler wash allows us to wash things we couldn't before (wool sweaters, hand wash-only rugs). I'm hoping it's just a "new car smell" that will dissipate, but after ~20 loads, the machine still has a not-offensive-but-unwelcome odor; not sure if it's transferring to our clothes.

easy to use... teaching my children how to do their own laundry:)

Great machine, glad we have it. We put vibration things under the machine to assist in making it quieter. THAT was really helpful.

More bells and whistles make this one nice for the price!
4 Star Review   By Stacey on Home Depot - Aug 22, 2012

It has a roomy capacity so all my comforters and bulky items can fit nicely. It has a steam wash feature, but I do not see any significant difference between that and the normal wash. When purchasing online it prompted me to purchase the hardware and tubing for an additional cost and this was not needed and required me to return it. The little toon it plays when the cycle is complete is entertaining.

Great Washer
5 Star Review   By SDCA2 on Home Depot - Aug 8, 2012

This LG TurboWasher is a wonderful appliance. It is amazing how little water it uses while thoroughly cleaning the clothes. It has cleaned small loads and over stuffed loads with ease. When finished washing, dry off the interior of the door and the grey rubber gasket. This will help prevent mold and stink inside the washer. -- It is expensive, but in the big picture of things, worth the price. I strongly recommend this washer for individuals and those with large families.

15 days and still working great
5 Star Review   By gandalf668 on Home Depot - Aug 7, 2012

I would recommend getting a stand for the washer. Large loads of wash are a little difficult to get out and it can be difficult to see if all the clothes are out when it is set on the florr.

Fantastic
5 Star Review   By VirginiaMom on Home Depot - Aug 7, 2012

Love this dryer. Best I've ever had. Easy to select cycles. Dries quickly and effectively. Put in a load with a quilted mattress pad and towels, and it dried them all perfectly. Matching washer also fantastic.

Nice product
4 Star Review   By jjcorb on Home Depot - Jul 31, 2012

20 yr old washer died. Consumer reports had this as a top pick, best buy. Home Depot delivered and installed it within a few days and removed the old one. A month later I am happy as a clam. Does a much better job than old style washer and quieter. The big unknown is how long it will last but the motor has a 10 year warranty.
