Good quality build and performance
5 Star Review   By LabDoc on Home Depot - Jun 18, 2013

I bought this washer for my daughter and son-in-law as theirs was pretty much unusable. I purchased this unit as I purchased the same one for ourselves over a year earlier and have been very pleased with the quality of construction, the ease of use and the quality of the wash results. My machine hasn't had any problems since purchase, and my daughter and son-in-law are tickled pink at not having to empty their old washer, virtually every load, in wet sopping buckets. The high-efficiency washer is relatively economical in its use of detergent and water. We love the auto water level feature which absolutely saves on water usage (much better than having to guestimate how big a load you have and how much water will be required). Over all, I'd absolutely recommend this washer to anyone contemplating purchasing a new one and considering the LG line. Having a clear glass lid is also neat, but not absolutely necessary (but it's nice to be able to see inside the washer during processing).

I literally hate this washer
1 Star Review   By gemstone on Home Depot - Jun 18, 2013

Bought this washer because it got good reviews. Well I've had it several months and hate doing laundry with this piece of overpriced junk. First off, it takes forever to do the laundry. It does not get the clothes clean and just grunts going through the wash cycle. The clothes come out looking like they have not been washed. The clothes also get tangled and twisted together. Also, the clothes come out extremely wrinkled when dried. I wish I had NEVER bought this washer.

Awesome 21st Century Washer!!!
5 Star Review   By Blessed on Home Depot - Jun 14, 2013

Did a lot of research on various brands, options, features, and cycles prior to making the purchase. I'm glad I did, because the washer is great, and my wife loves it! This thing is high tech, quiet, efficient, and has plenty of cycles for washing various articles of clothing and sizes. Control panel lights up like a christmas tree during loads/cycles.

You can't choose water levels
3 Star Review   By DB62 on Home Depot - Jun 4, 2013

I did not realize when I purchased this LG washer that I would never be able to choose the water levels myself. The machine senses how much water is needed, but I am not convinced that there is always enough water to really do a good job of cleaning my clothes.

Best Washer I've ever owned!
5 Star Review   By Elle on Home Depot - Jun 3, 2013

We have a business that requires a ton of laundry! This washer is amazing! Its a large capacity and washes comforters with ease. The clothes come out almost dry, and the washer is whisper quiet! I also have a front loader that I am considering getting rid of and buying a second LG Wave force. I generally am not impressed with new appliances, so this is a first for me.

I hate this washer.
1 Star Review   By Torreygrammy on Home Depot - May 29, 2013

I don't understand how this washer has gotten such great reviews. I hate hate hate it. It is energy efficient for sure. It doesn't use enough water to actually wash the laundry. Only the bottom of the laundry even gets wet. So nothing gets clean, and there are bleach spots when I use bleach. The bleach goes directly on the laundry because there is not enough water. So I have had to resort to adding 2 or 3 big buckets of water to EVERY load. I absolutely hate it.

Horrible washing machine.
1 Star Review   By Sluggo on Home Depot - May 27, 2013

Have had washing machine for 5 months. Have had the mother board and a pressure sensing unit replaced. Before that, the washing machine would completely fill with water every time, thus diluting the soap and completely doing away with anything resembling high efficiency. After the mother board and pressure sensing switch were replaced, it no longer fills completely, but still does not get clothes clean. We purchased a high efficiency unit because we have a newborn and knew we would be doing quite a bit of laundry. Well, this machine gets out NO stains. It will not remove spit up stains. It will not remove drool stains. It will not remove poo stains. It basically will not get anything clean. And yes, we have followed the manual to the letter and have been using several different brands of high efficiency laundry detergent. The matching dryer has also had to be repaired (bad rollers), but I'll put that in our dryer review. Basically, I would HIGHLY recommend avoiding this unit. We will be calling Home Depot tomorrow to see if they will exchange the LG for something that actually works.

This washer is terrible
1 Star Review   By Buffer on Home Depot - May 25, 2013

If you want to spend hours doing your laundry, then this is the washer for you. It is unable to wash a regular load of laundry without theUE signal going off. It means the load is unbalanced. Washing like items together does not solve the problem. I started a towel wash at 10:30 and it is still going at 2:00. The machine looks slick but it doesn't do the job

Looks nice. Poor performance. Horrid Quality.
1 Star Review   By ahthurungnone on Home Depot - May 17, 2013

I researched tons of sites about this brands reliability and ignored all the warnings. This washer can barely handle a normal sized load and continually needs to have the clothes adjusted as it goes out of balance about half the time. In addition, it already required a service call to have it repaired. Prepare to spend hours trying to get LG to warranty their products. Don't waste your time with this brand. Very poor quality and horrible customer service.

Love the Features, Easy to Use!
5 Star Review   By Cuertis on Home Depot - May 7, 2013

Have been using this washer for about a month and noticed a difference in the quality of the wash we get in comparison to our 12 year old Kenmore agitator washer. Purchased the Home Depot extended 5-year warranty, since these days there are more things that can break with computerized features. Going with the latest technology is always a bit of risk, so be sure to make an informed decision. I don't think this model can disappoint!

Must keep an eye and ear on washer when using because it is ALWAYS getting unbalanced
1 Star Review   By Freida on Home Depot - May 6, 2013

Washer has to be loaded very carefully or it will get off balance and stop running or twist the clothes up so bad that I am sure they are not clean. It spends a lot of time "sensing the load" which would be great if it worked. I washed two flat sheets and it wook me two hours because it kept stopping with an error message. I spent a lot of time watching it and rearranging the clothes. I would much rather have a washer with an agitator. But since I spent over $2,000 for the washer/dryer pair and I am at retirement age I will have to keep it forever. I could have spent a lot less money and been a lot happier. I am sure if it ever needs repair I will have a hard time finding someone to fix it or paying for the repairs.

large capasity, excellent cleaning.
5 Star Review   By TimT on Home Depot - May 2, 2013

The washer has a load of features. Runs relatively quiet and has the built in speed and cold wash setting. You can set everything manually as well. Can't go wrong. The large capasity fits everything we've thrown at it so far with ease and the clothes come out clean and bright. We previosly used whirlpool and were very unhappy with the service. The warranty was worthless and techs were completely inexperienced. Did a lot of research for a washer and this model consistently came up with good reviews for the price point. Would positively reccomend it.

Space! Space! Space!
5 Star Review   By Vivisol on Home Depot - Apr 30, 2013

This washer replaced my old standard top load washer and I am very happy with my choice. The tub is huge - I've washed sleeping bags and my King-Size comforter inside this machine. The washer is so efficient that the clothes come out almost dry from the spin cycle. And the main reason we bought it was that our laundry room is small - this washer was only 1" deeper than my old one so it fit perfectly! I highly recommend this machine.

the wash takes twice as long to wash, doesn't use enough water, some clothes are still dirty when they come out, have to wash everything on heavy duty or bulky bedding and MAYBE they will be clean, I hve never used so much detergent as I have in the last month, how can any of this be energy efficientent not to mention my extra time on doing the clothes not my favorite job

Economical, Quiet and Efficient!
5 Star Review   By Voleema on Home Depot - Apr 24, 2013

This washer replaced my 12 y.o. top loader. By comparison it uses a tiny amount of detergent/water yet gets the clothes very clean. It handles all 6 of my cotton throw rugs or my Queen size quilted bed spread with room to spare. The spin cycle gets so much water out that the time spent in the dryer is much less. Lots of choices to customize each load. It even looks great with its clear glass lid and sparkling silver interior!

5 Star Review   By embryant on Home Depot - Apr 24, 2013

I've only had it a week, but love the features and love that it easily handled a large comforter without issue. It does take longer than the old style washers to complete the cycle, but the little song at the end telling you it's finished is great.

5 Star Review   By LargeFamilyof5 on Home Depot - Apr 23, 2013

A family of 5 with a set of triplets plus two other adults in the house causes a huge pile of laundry each week. This wonderful machine meets all the needs from delicate to the dirtiest kids' clothes. The chime at the end makes you smile because you know your laundry is clean and it is time to start a new load!

Unbalanced 50% of the time, LG customer service is very bad
1 Star Review   By Kids on Home Depot - Apr 23, 2013

We have 9 kids at home, we received the washer, immediately we began to wash our 15 backlogged loads. The first load went unbalanced, it was hard to get the load to complete the wash. Several problems with the unbalanced, you don't find out until several hours later when you think the load is done you come to realize it went unbalanced. We wasted a huge amount of time on the first load trying to get it to balance, had to remove some of the larger items. From then on ran all the other loads, ran into unbalanced 50% of the time. We even ran very small loads and got the same problem. We contacted LG, the customer service dept for LG is very bad. Luckily we reported the problem within 48 hours of buying the unit. Home depot took it back (after dealing with LG for 3 days.) We now have the Maytag Bravo and we love it, no problems, not as quite as the LG but man it's a workhorse !

I have been using this machine for approximately 4 months. I really love it.
5 Star Review   By Njanie on Home Depot - Apr 17, 2013

This machine has all the features I need to do many laundry items. PLUS the machine uses a minimum amount of water and detergent. The clothes come out great. I especially love the delayed start feature. This enables me to set the machine to start washing at a later time. For example, I set it to wash at midnight when the water pressure in our area is at optimum level. Love it, love it, love it....

5 Star Review   By Brie on Home Depot - Apr 16, 2013

Love this washer so far! My only complaint is the wash cycle takes around an hour, but I think that's pretty typical with high efficiency washers. I love that it is quiet, holds a ton of clothes, has lot of wash options, and plays a cute jingle when it's finished. No problems so far!

The strong silent type...
5 Star Review   By Simon on Home Depot - Apr 16, 2013

Powerful, quiet and efficient! We purchased this unit to replace a whirlpool cabrio which was problematic from the onset. We read the consumer reviews and specs of various machines and kept coming back to the LG and its impressive features. What was the most impressive was its direct drive motor and super high spin speed. Belts break, stretch and wear out along with the respective parts such as pulleys and bearings. We purchased the unit and had HD deliver it. the delivery men were amongst the most professional I seen. They unboxed, installed and took away the old machine and all the packing materials. The machine has worked like a dream so far and our drying times have been reduced because of the high spin. With a ten year warranty on the motor, LG must have a lot of confidence in this product.

Very Good washer
5 Star Review   By sixstring on Home Depot - Apr 16, 2013

I researched all makes and models of washers for a long time before choosing this one. There were many good reviews and some bad so I had some concerns. After getting the washer and installing it I read the manual from front to back and made sure I understood how it operates and how to use it. It does tend to leave the clothes a bit wrinkled but if you adjust the spin cycle at the beginning of the cycle they are much better than just letting the washer choose. From what I can tell a lot of the negative reviews may stem from not reading the manual and understanding how to adjust for your laundry conditions. It is a bit pricey and the matching dryer with the steam function would certainly help with the wrinkle issue, but it is getting to the point that everything cost and arm and a leg now days. My wife loves the fact she can now clean the comforters and other heavy bedding that had to go to a laundry matt in the past. We purchased the optional 5 year warranty, at 25.00 a year the cost is minimal for any issues that may arise. So far the clothes are clean and no issues so we are pleased to this point.

Won't Spin Right - Seems great otherwise
2 Star Review   By LGWasherDoesntWork on Home Depot - Apr 7, 2013

We got this to replace the Whirlpool Cabrio which died an untimely death. This got great reviews and seemed to be a better deal than getting another Cabrio. Boy were we wrong. Our boys have twin beds and you can't wash one set of sheets and a blanket together as it becomes unbalanced. We have to wash 1 set of sheets, then another set of sheets, then 1 blanket, then another blanket. Heaven forbid someone has an accident and you have to wash the mattress pad too (a whole other load). When I wash sheets and other bulky stuff I have to try to distribute the load just perfectly prior to starting the cycle or it gets unbalanced. I tried to wash the blanket today and it said it got unbalanced and stopped. I tried running it again and got the same problem. It's ridiculous that I have to go through all this just to wash a blanket.

Would not recommend this product
1 Star Review   By Nikki on Home Depot - Apr 1, 2013

I did my first load of clothes and anything that had a stain when it when in, came out with the same stain. Underwear came out the same way it went in. I was so shocked that the water was totally absorbed by the clothes during the wash cycle. The first time I did a load of clothes, I realized the outtake hose had 3 holes so my basement was wet after the first load was finished. I was just going to have them replace the hose but after I saw how the clothes came out I made the decision to just return the washer. I can't say enough about LG customer service. They had no problems with my returning the washer and fully understood my desire for an agitator style washer. Home Depot was also great and they had no issues with my buying another washer and cooridinating the pick up and delivery. Luckily the new washer purchased is fantastic.

So far, So good
5 Star Review   By eeadams33 on Home Depot - Mar 19, 2013

Haven't owned the washer long enough to give an accurate rating on Efficiency... I'll check back after the first couple Water Bills... Washer looks to be High Quality and is working very well. Was able to wash some comforters [that I'd been waiting to do in a laundromat] with ease... Mesmerizing gyrations during operation, but then I am easily amused...

Leaked water first use
2 Star Review   By Betsy on Home Depot - Mar 12, 2013

Leaked water on floor and filled tub with water between loads on the first use. The warranty covered the replacement of the valve, but he didn't have the part on his truck & it took 4 days to order. $1000 for a top rated washer that left the factory broken--not good!!

Large washer but goes off balance and cannot wash mattress covers
3 Star Review   By Rachel33 on Home Depot - Mar 12, 2013

We did a lot of research picking out a washer. In doing our research I didn't read anywhere that you could not wash water repellent items in this washer. The majority of mattress covers are water repellent and now I am stuck with a washer I cannot wash them in. The washer also doesn't come with a preset delicate cycle. You can create your own cycle so you can get one, just not a preset. I will say the washer capacity is very large which is nice. You do have to watch very large loads that include towels / bedding. They will sometimes throw an off balance error.

I love the gadgetry on the machine!
5 Star Review   By JacktheCat on Home Depot - Mar 5, 2013

I absolutely love this washing machine. Makes washing clothes an enjoyable 'chore'. I don't know of anything I would change except possibly having the wording for your selections, i.e., fabric softener, in a little larger print.

Wonderful

This replaced a ten year old washer. So far it's been wonderful. Not a single complaint. Of course we'll see how durable these computer driven appliances are. I have a feeling they may konk out after only a few years.

Very Pleased!!
5 Star Review   By kgw66 on Home Depot - Mar 3, 2013

I purchased the washer and dryer; they were delivered a week ago. I am in love, the set is everything I expected and more. I had a load become off balance, (memory foam rugs) the machine stopped and played a tone and had an error code. The manual listed the code, it told to do nothing, and sure enough, the machine worked itself out and the load finished as if nothing had happened. The dryer is efficient. When you first start a load it gives an appromiate time to dry, then after a few minutes it resets itself according to the dampness in the clothing. My daughter came home from college this weekend and I actually reminded her not to forget any laundry she had; she is hoping my enjoyment doenst wear off!!

Great capacity good price and nice features.
4 Star Review   By Todd on Home Depot - Feb 26, 2013

The capacity of this machine is great. Unfortunately, it does not get the clothes as clean as our old washing machine. It also takes much longer to do a load. Even with the larger capacity compared to my old washer, this takes considerable more time. Good washer. Just not what I was hoping for.

Never buy this washer
1 Star Review   By Sam123 on Home Depot - Feb 20, 2013

I just got this washer 2 weeks ago ,after reading the reviews I thought this one is the best ,but I did know I was going to buy a total headache for me .i hate this ,I hate this ,I hate this stupid machine .all the other negative reviews are totally right about this product ,all the clothes are dirty even if you wash them on bright white cycle ,they just come out like they never been in washing . Plus it spins the clothes really bad ,all the clothes are wrinkled . It does not drain the water if wash comforters .plus it does not have any hand wash or delicate cycle or drain and spin cycle like my old washer had .its my first LG product I bought but its really horrible ,I just want to throw it away .i spent 1000$ for this piece of junk ,I can't believe it . Plus a great customer service by LG , they scheduled to send a mechanic ,but the whole day I had waited and no one showed up ,when I called him he said the scheduled time is this and that blah blah blah . I totally won't recommend this horrible machine to any one . I wish I did not have read all those reviews and just went with any kind of machine .

Completely Satisfied
5 Star Review   By Dave on Home Depot - Feb 19, 2013

Ordered this washer from Home Depot online on a Saturday and had it delivered three days later. The washer holds an amazing amount of wash and runs quietly. It is expensive but pretty amazing (I have to add that it's been just two weeks). Wash comes out great, highly rated by CR. Very pleased!

poor quality
1 Star Review   By Rocco on Home Depot - Feb 16, 2013

The machine is supposed to be top line but has never worked properly. The filling mechanism as well as the electronics were faulty. LG repair services were to the house to repair the machine 5 times and still could not fix the problem. The warranty states the machine should be replaced but because I purchased it on line from Home Depot and only have a credit card receipt, LG will not honor the warantee.

Quiet, and effective
5 Star Review   By breedeb on Home Depot - Feb 13, 2013

The washer so far has been great. Good cleaning, very quiet, and we will see about the water savings. It seems to have the attributes of a front load but without needing to buy the stands you would need to get the front load off of the ground or worrying about front door leaks

need to get used to washing system
5 Star Review   By TonyC on Home Depot - Feb 12, 2013

Always had a washer with a agitator. This is completely different. Once we get used to it I think it will be fine. Clothes are clean and machine is much quieter than our old one. It does take longer to wash but uses less water and that saves on gas from the water heater. So all in all a good purchase. If you have kids, it would be better to get a front loader because it cleans badly soiled clothes better than the top loader.

avoid LG top loaders at all cost
1 Star Review   By jonah on Home Depot - Feb 3, 2013

the first year and a half was great, no problems. then it started going out of balance and now, no matter what you do, you have to babysit it 95% of the times we use it. think about it this way: it has a tub cleaning function that runs without anything inside the machine, but it won't even complete that cycle, throwing out the UNEVEN LOAD alarm... (and yes, it is perfectly level, checked this a hundred times) it'll work great at first, but rest assured, you'll come to regret buying it. we've contacted support, even had a tech here who updated the software (part of a recall after some machines destroyed themselves during spinning) but now I put damp, sometimes wet, clothing in my tumble drier because the frustration of this top loader gets too much to bear sometimes. BUY A FRONT LOADER. these fancy top loaders are nothing but bells and whistles, and nothing else. looks great, works terribly. this washing machine will be a good politician.

Not the old agitator
4 Star Review   By Amy6 on Home Depot - Feb 2, 2013

We've had our LG Wave series washer and dryer for two weeks. We had the Kenmore front loader for 8 years and I hated it. It always smelled and I hated "washing the washer." The seal around the door always held dirt and grime - very disgusting. Buying the LGs - I dreaded spending almost $2K for a washer and dryer - seems ridiculous but that's the going price to get units that can handle wash for a 6 person household. I love the size - super capacity. When you get the washer installed, you re going to watch it wash because it has a glass lid and you just spent $$$ and you want to make sure it's washing. Beware - there is some nonsense going on in the washer for the first 15 minutes - balanacing, swishing, swoshing, some water, drains water - craziness. It doesn't really start agitating for 15 - 20 minutes so give it a chance. In the first 2 minutes, I was ready to have it hauled out because I expected more. You have to wait 15 minutes for the washer to do its thing. I haven't had to add water like some posters said and we are washing for 6. I recommend reading your manual - there are important points in there. For one, there is a button "water plus" and if you are using fabric softener, you have to hit the "fabric softener" button. There are plenty of buttons for every washing scenario. The items come out spun and ready for the dryer. Cuts down on drying time. Even bulky items. I haven't had problems with clothes getting twisted like some posters mentioned. Again, read the manual. It tells you to choose the correct setting for the type of clothes/items you are washing. My doubts: I doubt this washer will last 10 years. There are lots of nonesense going on in there like balancing, moving back and forth. I have a hard time believing those parts are not going to wear out. We do lots of wash here. I did purchase the extended warranty and I paid with Discover which extends the manufacturers warranty by 1 year.

After 9 months it's still the best washer we've ever owned
5 Star Review   By HappyinMidlothian on Home Depot - Feb 1, 2013

We wouldn't trade this washer and matching dryer for the world. No smelly mold/mildew build up like we had with our LG front load. About the only time it goes out of balance on a spin cycle--and it's very rare--is when a single, heavy king size blanket is washed by itself. Very easy on any fabric as we get practically no lint build up in the dryer lint trap. A well made unit that is also much, much quieter than our old LG front load.

Mom of 2 approves!
5 Star Review   By MamaBee33 on Home Depot - Jan 31, 2013

First week of january our washer broke that came with the house we recently purchased. It was A Maytag front loader, which STUNK!! Was actually happy it died. Decided through reviews and consumer reports to get this LG washer and Im thrilled with it. First off it is incredibly quiet which is important because our laundry room is off the kitchen area, The settings are easy to follow and I love there is a baby clothes setting (mom of toddler and newborn) as well as a bulky bedding. I decided going with a top loader bc our LR is very tight in space and the the front load wouldnt allow for even a laundry basket on the floor. It spins the clothes so dry that the dryer time is cut in half, money saver!! The only issue I have is that I'm 5"2' and at times it can be a stretch to gather all the clothes on the bottom of the tub. So for people that are shorties like me or have back problems etc...I would consider a smaller version. Delivery was spot on..the guys were great, quick and clean. Will definitely buy more LG and from HD again in future,

The nicest washer I have ever owned :-)
5 Star Review   By Jimmy30135 on Home Depot - Jan 29, 2013

The washer has a cycle for virtually everything you can wash at home that doesn't require dry cleaning. I also like how quietly it operates. It sits on the other side of an uninsulated interior wall from the family room where everyone watches TV and its so quiet the only thing we hear is the end of cycle signal. It also uses less water than a standard toploading washer

So much better than our old front-load washer
5 Star Review   By Juanold on Home Depot - Jan 27, 2013

We've been using our new HE LG 5070 washer for two weeks now and we love it. The quality of workmanship and functionality of the numerous features are outstanding. It cleans better than our old front load washer and seems to be a more common-sense design. It doesn't shake across the floor while actually spinning at a higher rpm than our old HE front loader. It also probably uses a wee bit more water but it seems to do it in a way that maximizes cleaning. No buyer's remorse on this purchase!

5 Star Review   By evangeline16 on Home Depot - Jan 24, 2013

Very pleased with this washer and the matching dryer. I got a great deal on Black Friday and have used it for almost 2 months. It washes great, uses little water and can wash great big comforters with ease. The lights and sounds are an added bonus. Looks like Star Wars in the laundry room. The only time the machine became unbalanced was when I went against my better judgement and loaded it improperly, so that's on me. Follow the loading guidelines and it works great. The tech/deliveryman who installed it says this was his favorite washer and the best out there. Good enough for me!!! I researched this purchase for a long time and am glad I went with this LG.

Excellent Washer
5 Star Review   By Eric on Home Depot - Jan 20, 2013

Absolutely love the huge capacity and ultra quiet operation. Tons of features. Only drawback - the auto load sensing feature conflicts with real world scenarios such as washing wet clothes or resuming a wash cycle if you turn off the washer. There's no ability to manually set the water level or load size.

Nifty washer with tons of capacity
5 Star Review   By NJFarmFolk on Home Depot - Jan 15, 2013

Without the center post, it's HUGE inside. Unless you have a bunch of kids, you probably don't need the large capacity, but it's nice to have the option. Doesn't use a lot of water, is relatively quiet, and not difficult to select options. So far, I like it very much. Write down the serial number for registration BEFORE it's installed, as you won't be able to get to it later - on the back.

This is the worst washing machine I have ever owned!
1 Star Review   By member patricia24001 - Jan 13, 2013

Strengths: It can wash a lot of clothes at one time.

Weakness: It is totally incapable of washing a smaller load. Definitely not good for a small family that does not like to accumulate clothes for a month before washing them.

I have had this washing machine for a year. I am about ready to throw it out and buy a new washer. This washing machine does NOT function with anything less than a full load. If you try to wash a partial load it has to be reset continuously. It keeps getting the UE message on the screen. It adds water and swishes some more, but never finishes. It can take hours to do a partial load. Talk about NOT ENERGY OR WATER EFFICIENT!. i usually finally get to the point that I stop the machine and restart it on the spin only setting, and just let it finish that way. We bought the machine at Sears, and have had their repair person look at it. He did not charge us, but did tell us that this machine only works well with a full load. He was not able to do anything to fix the problem. This machine is not good for a small family. We do like to be able to wash our underwear, without having to combine it with towels and blue jeans to make the washer work. It does not seem to get unbalanced very often when I fill it with towels. But, unfortunately, we do have to wash things other than towels. this is truly the absolute worst washing machine purchase I have ever made.

hate it
1 Star Review   By mauigurl on Home Depot - Jan 12, 2013

It is large capacity, and has lots of nice features but there is no soap dispenser and my clothes keep getting ruined (bleached out from contact with detergent), there is absolutely no way to soak clothes in the machine bc it drains itself - even when unplugged or turned off, & it thinks it knows what I want it to do but it doesn't. I hate this machine.

Awesome Washing Machine!
5 Star Review   By Ajeezy21 on Home Depot - Jan 6, 2013

We've been using this machine for about 6 months and it's been nothing but fantastic. We love the massive capacity and now what used to take 3-4 loads to wash in our 20 yr old. washer only takes 2 loads. We also love the 1100 rpm spin speed since that greatly reduces the amount of time the clothes need to spend in our old electric dryer which we didn't replace. One thing to watch out for is the clothes can get very twisted, so take heed to the instructions that suggest to put similar clothes together, and use the gentle cycle for clothes you don't want to come out with a crushed effect (quickly putting the clothes in the dryer fixes that in most cases anyway). We use the "Cold Wash" cycle with the appropriate cold wash detergent, and it gets our clothes brighter and cleaner (even whites) better than the hot cycle in our old machine! Since using this washer, we now break our clothes out into 2 categories - clothes that need gentle care, and clothes that don't. We use the "casual" setting for the former and "normal" for the latter. So far no issues even with our delicate items, though for work clothes I have to pull out the iron sometimes. I wish I knew what some of the other settings actually did (i.e. towels, stain care, etc.) but the manual doesn't explain. All in all, this is a great washing machine and we've been super happy with it. Not a single issue and it works as advertised!

abhor machine
1 Star Review   By regretful on Home Depot - Jan 5, 2013

I bought this larger machine to wash pillows, king size bedding. Totally ruined pillows. No shape left at all. Had to pitch them. NO hot water. Only way to get it is turn cold completely off. Too large for my space which is roomy enough for washer and dryer. Sticks out six inches from wall. Lid will not open below cabinet as too large lid plus since they are so far from wall the cabinets are unreachable. Takes forever to run a load especially when you have to turn the cold water off and then back on for rinse. Have very limited control over length of load. Why in the world would some company manufacture such a product?. I don't believe the salesmen are even aware of these horrible features. Want to return it so bad.

Great washer and dryer!
5 Star Review   By kj58 on Home Depot - Dec 27, 2012

After months of research bought this washer and dryer set. Easy to use. Will automatically set to your selection (towels, casual, etc), but you have the option on some selections to override to what you want (hot water to warm, for example). Heard complains about over spinning, but do not have that problem. You can set the spin cycle on most settings. Sturdy, quiet, washes well. The dryer works very well. Will automaticaly set the time, but can override it in some cases in 20 minute sections. Doesn't overdry. Steam feature is easy to use. Sturdy, quiet, drys well. Love this set and would highly recomment it. One con that needs to be mentioned. It sits out from the wall. I was told five inches, It's more like eight inches. My laundry room is small and didn't like giving up the space. You need to make sure it fits your space.

So far so good, only a couple minor complaints...
4 Star Review   By Handle1 on Home Depot - Dec 26, 2012

We made the switch from a GE Profile top load washer to this LG top load. At the end of the day, they are very similar. This one has more cycle options and seems easier to use. But based on performance, I would still give it to the GE Profile (which we had for 6+ years w/ no issues - the GE Profile dryer, which is why we switched, was a complete disaster, however). Two minor complaints: the wash cycles on this washer are REALLY LONG and the washer seems to become 'unbalanced' during wash cycles far too much. Length of wash cycle - really not a big deal, more of an observation than anything. We are still working our way through the controls and cycles to see what works best so there may very well be a way to get around what seems like really long wash cycles. If really long wash cycles is my worst complaint, LG is doing well. Perhaps my bigger issue, however, is that the washer seems to stop during a wash cycle and claim that it is 'unbalanced' far too often. We do not overload the washer. The problem usually occurs when washing sheets or towels or anything that 'retains' a lot of water when washing. When the cycle gets to the spin cycle the washer stops, lets out a pleasant little hum / tune to get your attention and the display flashes UE. Usually if you move the clothes / towels around inside and start it back up everything is fine. If this happened once or twice, fine. But this seems to happen a lot. I can live with it but others might find it exceedingly annoying after the first few times. Overall, I am good with the washer. Clothes come out clean, the washer is quiet.

Disappointed but still new.
3 Star Review   By Val56789 on Home Depot - Dec 18, 2012

Washing machine takes too long to process a normal sized load - 75-90 minutes. In addition, the water level was not enough to "wet" all the clothes, so used special feature to include more water which added another 20 minutes to load time! I have only used the machine for three loads but disappointed that it uses more water and more electricity than old washer - where is the efficiency?

Clean clothes washed quietly
5 Star Review   By LGLover on Home Depot - Dec 18, 2012

I've had our washer since the 1st week of December and feel this and the dryer are 2 of the best purchases I've ever made in my life. They're quiet, quick, use less energy / water, and everyone in the house now enjoys doing their own laundry. There's a slight learning curve regarding what to wash together, but once you read the instructions and take the advise of the 'helper' cards that come with the devices, it's easy-peazy, lemon-squeezy. The clothes are clean, smell great, and the glass top allows you to find out exactly how all of your bras and underwear get tied up together so tightly. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS WASHER!

Yes, it's a great machine, really, it does everything it says it does. The only problem is that I am 5' tall, or short, as the case may be, and I can't reach the bottom of the washer to get the remnants of the load out. I have tried using a stool - this allows me to dive in head first but my feet are up in the air - much to my kids' amusement. Not to mine.

5 Star Review   By Watertiger92 on Home Depot - Dec 12, 2012

The extra large capacity accomodates my king size bedding with ease, including my king pillows and body pillow. My uniforms are coming out cleaner than when I had my front loader. I enjoy the tone it plays when a load is done and everything I wash takes less time to dry! I haven't had any problems so far, but I think that the smart diagnosis technology capability would be a breeze to use. Highly recommend!

Nice Change
5 Star Review   By NMBob on Home Depot - Dec 11, 2012

We replaced our 9+ year old Kenmore Front Loader HE machine with this LG. Capacity is larger, seems to produce softer clothes after washing and it is quieter. It might take a bit longer for similar washing cycles but we can live with that.

Excellent quality
5 Star Review   By Brooksie8 on Home Depot - Dec 11, 2012

I have searched for more than a year for the "perfect" washing machine and this comes as close as I could hope for. It is quiet, will hold a mountain of clothes, and cleans my clothes...something my old washer had stopped doing! It even plays a delightful little tune when it is finished. LG stands out among the pack as far as I'm concerned.

LG washer looks great, But I'd rather have my old Whirlpool
3 Star Review   By kmg123 on Home Depot - Dec 9, 2012

The bottom line is the newer top load washers do not clean as well as the older top load models. My husbands clothes have to be washed at least 3 times to get clean.I could get them cleaner swirling them in a tub of hot water. I have a new Whirlpool Cabrio top load downstairs that cleans just as badly and shown rust on the body and is less than 3 years old. If you want a top load machine that cleans your clothes Go buy a old fashioned top load machine. They don't look as impressive but perform better.

Great product
5 Star Review   By happywasherowner on Home Depot - Dec 5, 2012

Replaced a 15 year old washer with this one and we can tell that the clothes are much cleaner. The capacity is huge - we can fit about 2x the amount of clothes into one wash. I also like the door lock that activates automatically when the washer starts and that it has a no-slam lid (I always worried about the kids smashing their fingers).

So Far, So Good
4 Star Review   By Gonzo on Home Depot - Dec 4, 2012

Did a lot of research before buying this machine, online and with Consumer Reports. All machines had negative comments, including this one, so making a choice was difficult. So far after two weeks the only negatives I have are the long wash times (as with every HE machine I suppose) and the unbalanced error "UE". it has gotten less frequent as we learned how to distribute the clothes before turning the machine on. Overall, I don't think you could do better for the price. I got it on sale, 25% of listed price. Will have to wait and see about longevity and quality of the machine.

my new washer
5 Star Review   By Operator on Home Depot - Dec 4, 2012

Have had my new LG washer for about a month. I really like it. It does a good job washing clothes with much less water than a conventional machine. The controls are easy to understand and the washer is quite. The capacity is huge compared to my last machine. What was a full load is now a small to medium load. Was worth the money to me. So far, so good. Home Depot delivery was prompt and courtious.

does not dispense warm or hot water correctly
2 Star Review   By John on Home Depot - Dec 4, 2012

Lg is looking into my problem. The machine from day 1 will not dispense proper water temperatures for the various washing cycles. 54 is too cold for cold water washing and 104 is not hot.(125 at the tap)warm water selection comes out 74

Great Washer!
5 Star Review   By Motrouble on Home Depot - Dec 1, 2012

I read in others' reviews that some people had an issue with whites not getting completely clean. I had that problem with the first load. Realizing that most whites are underclothes or very lightweight materials, I added a heavy bath towel to the second whites load. Problem solved. Plus, if you look at the water while it's washing, I was amazed at how much dirt my previous machine had left. Disgusting. One thing about set-up. The delivery men started a cleaning cycle then left. 5 minutes later, I had a puddle growing on the floor. They were back within 10 minutes and knew exactly what to do. They inserted a pvc pipe into a section of the drain hose, explaining that there is a design flaw with the hose and they have to do this about 50% of the time. No more puddles, and no charge to fix it. I have gone from 5-6 loads/week to 2-3 loads/week and love it.

Power Wave Technology Has Issues!
1 Star Review   By PleaseHelpLG on Home Depot - Dec 1, 2012

Bought this particular model to get Power Wave action. Bottom line, the only time this washer has exhibited power wave action is when the technician puts it in demo mode. Sorry, but I can't wash clothes in demo mode. LG says nothing is wrong with the washer. The power wave action is suppose to be generated from the drum spinning and forcing water out of the inner drum and up and over the top of the drum and back onto your clothing. As an engineer, it is obvious to me that the drum is not spinning fast enough on any of the wash cycles(normal, towels, bedding, quickwash, etc) to make this "action" occur. I hope someone from LG with an engineering or software background reads this and puts out a bulletin on how to reprogram the speed setting during the wash cycles, which should resolve this issue. Until then, you are wasting your money on this particular model. All of the other HE top loading machines by all of the other manufacturers are doing basically the same thing as this one, without the wave force action. Overall, very disappointed and will be returning machine within 90 days if LG cannot get it to work as advertised. (One other super annoying issue: if you pause the wash to add clothing, the washer has no idea how much you added and goes to a mode of filling the washer to a maximum water level on the wash cycle and the rinse cycle, ruining its water efficiency, 25 gal + 25 gal = 50 gal for the load, essentially another software/logic issue that could be easily resolved).

Buyer Beware
2 Star Review   By Kermit on Home Depot - Nov 24, 2012

Technoloby wise this is the future of washing clothes. However, it does not put enough water in the cycles to thoroughly wash the clothes. Even after setting the water plus. After a few loads the whites were not coming out clean. Yes we put the selection on bright whites and we us the HE products. When you pause the machine and open the lid to push the clothes under the water and then resume it fills the tub to the top with water. So much for energy effeciency. We had the machine a little over three months and returned it and the matching dryer to HD. LG customer service is a joke. The repair guy that came out even did not know how to get into the diagnostics. He tried several combinations of buttons before figuring it out. I struggled over this purchase and should have returned it before the 90 days were up.
