So far, so good!
5 Star Review   By Heidi on Home Depot - Feb 14, 2013

I bought this washer 6 months ago to replace a broken Maytag. I thought it was a little expensive, but I'm a cheapskate and so far it's been great. I was drawn to the idea of a new-fangled tower-less top loader to decrease the whole mold/mildew issue I've had with front loading HE washers. It took the mildew smell out of our old towels right away. Awesome! I empty the water out of the soap dispenser and always leave the door open and I have only noticed a mildew smell in my clothes once. This was a couple weeks ago when I left them in the washer on accident without starting it for a few days. One of them was a moist towel. It's been fine though ever since. I occasionally spray the inside down with Simple Green or add bleach and run the "tub clean" cycle. Not much fuss at all. Other pros: quiet; plays a pleasant little song when clothes are done; tub clean, soak and delay options have come in handy--husband will even let me wash his filthy baseball cap using soak.

Great Product
5 Star Review   By Jeff on Home Depot - Dec 2, 2012

It may be that my old washer was 15 years old, but this model has really impressed us so far. The washer has the ability to figure out your load size and make appropriate adjustments. The load is automatically balanced and the spin cycle is way better than old washer. We do wash every other day and so far this system has been fantastic. My old Amana was very noisy and used to actually move across the floor, but this one is quite and a lot less vibration. Their is no actuator so it is easier on the cloths too. We have had it almost 4 months without a hiccup. Seems like a winner to me.

Leaves the dirty smell in clothes;
1 Star Review   By bubblecar01 on Home Depot - Oct 24, 2012

Althought a nice looking washer with a lot of great options, don't be fooled by the "Energy Efficient" stamp. Due to No agitator and low water levels, this washer does not clean as well as our old cheap one. I can still smell my husbands deoderant on his t-shirts. And minor stains that would normally come out of my toddlers clothes, don't seem to budge with this washer. I am still trying to decide where the "energy efficient" helps us. We have to wash our cloth twice, depending on the load. No matter the size of the load, the wash takes 51 mins. Please, please please, don't waste your money on this washer. My husband surprised me with this set after lots of research. But it turned out to be a dud. The dryer is fantastic.

5 Star Review   By Greg on Home Depot - Oct 23, 2012

So far we are very pleased with the performance of this washer. It replaced a 24 year old Monkey Wards Signature washer - we can only hope that this washer can last half as long with no problems. All the washes to date - big & small loads including delicates to bedspreads - have been very clean. The washer is very quiet at least compared to our old washer!

so far, it's working well
3 Star Review   By Edwardo on Home Depot - Oct 23, 2012

This washer includes the high-speed spin cycle (1,000 rpm). This is important as it removes more moisture thereby reducing DRYER time - a big energy user. Of course it works good now... it's new! I won't comment on quality, because that is a characteristic that is dependent on the number of years that it lasts. In my opinion, a good washer will last at least 10 years of residential use before needing service or replacement. I'm giving it only 3 stars, because the quality factor (trouble-free life) is yet to be proven.

Great Washing Machine!
5 Star Review   By lovelace on Home Depot - Oct 16, 2012

My husband and I were looking for a front load washer and dryer, but after using my Sister's and talking to friends we noticed that the time to finish a load was an unreasonably long amount of time, and when taking clothes out of the washer they are tangled and fall onto the floor. We read the reviews for this top load LG set, and decided this may work for us. Boy were we right! The loads are finished washing and drying right at about an hour, which is nice for a busy family. You can't go wrong with this set, and face it, the front loaders are nice to look at, but the practicality is null.

Love my new LG HE Washer!
5 Star Review   By SleepingGreatInSeattle on Home Depot - Oct 16, 2012

I've had my new washer for over a month now and just love it! I did quite a bit of research before comitting to this purchase. Our previous front loader (different brand) was on its last leg and was going to cost more than its worth to fix (after only owning it 6 years) I was determined not to get another front loader as it always had a problem with odor and mildew as well as contributed to our laundry area getting flooded out towards the end of its life. I love that this is a top loader HE and has all the features we wanted including easy add-a-garment and pause feature, user friendly settings that are easily customizable for your load, it's fairly quiet, the water really gets spinned out so the dryer doesn't have to work hard, the clothes get clean, it's got a cool see-through window on the lid so you can watch the clothes spinning, AND it plays a cute little musical tune when it's done! I actually have fun doing laundry and found myself looking forward to hearing that little tune! Too bad you can't program what song you want it to play :)

Love Doing Laundry
5 Star Review   By RCS52 on Home Depot - Oct 10, 2012

My 13-year-old washing machine suddenly stopped one day, and after replacing a few parts, decided to replace it. After all, it was 13 years old. We had the dilemma of deciding which make and model to replace it with. We went with this one because it was highly rated and energy efficient. I have been absolutely thrilled with our choice. I love doing laundry. The machine is quiet, very efficient (water, detergent and time). Being two weeks behind on laundry, once the new machine arrived, I was able to catch up 14 loads over the weekend! This machine had all the features I wanted and more. I am very satisfied with my new LG high efficiency top-load washing machine.

Very impressive!
5 Star Review   By californiamom on Home Depot - Oct 9, 2012

I've had this washer for a couple of months now and am very happy with it! It's very easy to use and saves on water and energy (AND I got rebates from both my electric and water companies!). Like many other reviewers, I had a hard time believing that it could really get clothes as clean as the washers that use a bunch of water, but it really does. The soak option is great for tough stains or athletic wear. In summary, I'm impressed. I would happily buy another LG product in the future.

Excellent
5 Star Review   By mcflyer54 on Home Depot - Oct 9, 2012

From buying through delivery and now with use the LG high-efficiency top load washer has been a excellent decision. The price at Home Depot was nearly 15% less than the next lowest competitor and Home Depot (unlike the other low price vendor) provided free delivery, installation and take-away of the old appliance. Although totally unfamiliar with many of the features of this new high efficiency model the instructions were easy to understand and follow and the performance far exceeds our expectations. So far the decision to purchase this model LG washer from Home Depot has been an excellent one.

We absolutely love our new LG washer
5 Star Review   By tightiewhitey on Home Depot - Oct 7, 2012

It is a top loader with no agitator, the clothes clean by the jets of water sprayed with great force on the items in the washer. Everything washed in it has come out extremely clean, even mixed loads with blankets, towels and clothes, and mixed colors too although I don't recommend washing clothes that way, from now on we will separate loads for perfection in the washloads.

WT4801CW LG Top Load
1 Star Review   By Bella on Home Depot - Oct 6, 2012

It is going back. Does poor job getting clothes clean, especially bedding. On some cycles it appears the clothes barely swish. I have tried 3 different brands of Liquid Soap for HE washers and was recently told to try less soap. "Less is more" theory. Of opinion there is not enough aggitation and/or movement of the clothing. I don't like not being able to set own water level, which I guess is more common with the newer washers of today. You have to guess on how much detergent to use because the washer iteself weighs the clothes and decides how much water to add on its own. So how do you know to use the 1st line, 2nd line, etc on your measuring cup? Did learn to select Bulky Bedding setting which automatically provides a full tub of water, then you can use detergent for a large load, however, that isn't being efficient! Also, didn't like the sloped down lids, tho it looks nice - very common for people to set clothes or detergent bottle on top of units, but you'll experience items sliding off. Bummer. Thank you Home Depot for working with me on the return!

Main board failed within 8 months
1 Star Review   By st12345 on Home Depot - Oct 6, 2012

The main board broke 8 months after we purchased the washer...the control panel didn't work while we had clothes already in the washer. The lid self-locked by itself and our clothes were left soaking in water for 10 days before LG maintenance finally came to repair it. As a result, our clothes became rotten-smelling and required 5 washes before the stench escaped. Don't buy this product!

Clothes do NOT get clean!!
1 Star Review   By Erin on Home Depot - Oct 5, 2012

We purchased this washer in the fall of 2011. Despite every attempt (different types of detergent, washer cleaner, having LG come out and replace the motor), our clothes have NEVER smelled clean coming out of this washer. I have to wash loads several times in a row in order for all of the clothes to even get fully wet. I would RECOMMEND NOT BUYING THIS WASHER!! It does not properly agitate the clothes -- it does not pull the water and detergent through them properly. Some clothes get clean, other items are not even damp and smell. We have tried to work with LG to fix the problem. We have had two repairmen come out to check the washer and nothing has worked.

Best washer I ever owned!
5 Star Review   By lgerber6 on Home Depot - Oct 3, 2012

Amazing washer! I have owned about 5 different washers over the past 30 yrs, and this one is "head and shoulders" above any of the others. The others were just washers, this one is a machine! Super quiet. Super effective. Super efficient. We have washed about 20 loads of clothes in the past week, and it is simply an outstanding machine. Highly recommend. Don't make a mistake--THIS is THE washer you want and need!

Good washer w style
4 Star Review   By TMtt on Home Depot - Sep 25, 2012

I just bought from home depot 2 weeks ago. It looks very nice with a glass top. No complain so far. I'll try to come back later if any changes. As of now, I would recommend this washer. Since I had gone through all the comments from others before buying this washer, I really appreciate everyone for leaving your comments both cons and pros for this washer. Thanks.

Once you try it you wont ever switch
5 Star Review   By Rofo on Home Depot - Sep 24, 2012

I am a working mom and have to do laundry when I can, which is usually at night. The old washer was great for 9 years but it was noisy and a problem at times. So when looking on line I saw this one, watched the video and was impressed. Didn’t want to spend that much but wanted something better. The machine came and I was excited since I had a mountain of laundry to do by now. I load it, add the soap in the dispenser and hit start. Watched it weigh the clothes and fill to the proper level. I was amazed how quiet it really was! Went back to check on it and it had stopped so I hit the start button and it resumed. Came back a bit later and it had again stopped and wouldn’t restart. So after trying the obvious things with no luck I unplug it and then plug it back in. It starts so now I want to see what is going on so I stay there and watch it for like 10 minutes. It got to the spin mode and was making a noise from the side but wouldn’t spin at all and then it shut down. Tried this 3 times with the same results….. Not happy at this point thinking I made a mistake buying it. Called LG they were great they offered to have it repaired or replaced, I chose replace. The new one came 2 days later as promised. Well the new machine worked as it should and really got a workout the first two day I had it. Not only am I now happy with my purchase it’s the quietest washer I have ever used or heard I can see the benefits as well as the savings for me over the old washer. Once you try it you wont ever buy a conventional washer again.

Excellent product - can't say enough good things
5 Star Review   By kdminn on Home Depot - Sep 23, 2012

I have had this washer about a month so maybe this is too soon but I have had none of the problems everyone else talks about (low water level, clothes not clean). I got rid of a front loader that I hated for years. My clothes now do not smell of mildew. It is easy to use, gentle on clothes and they are clean. Water level not an issue. I even did some heavy bedding and it handled it like a pro. Just terrific.

The product is working fine and as claimed
5 Star Review   By Jerry88 on Home Depot - Sep 21, 2012

We have had a AMANA washing machine that lasted for 18 years which we purchased from Montgomery Ward. It served us faithfully until the motor just gave up. We hope the new LG washing machine using HE detergent will last and serve us long and save us also on energy and water bills as claimed by the manufacturer.

Very Happy
5 Star Review   By alleha66 on Home Depot - Sep 20, 2012

I've been using my new machine for about 6 weeks now and am very happy with it. It is very quiet, we can not tell when its in spin mode. Our electric bill has gone down since last billing cycle, and the clothes are good and clean. I recommend the washer, it was middle of the road cost wise for a LG, but has all the bells and whistles you'd need.

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! NEVER AGAIN!
1 Star Review   By SDMOM on Home Depot - Sep 18, 2012

I PURCHASED MY LG WASHER IN APRIL 2012. ONLY 4 MONTHS LATER THE WASHER STOPPED MID CYCLE, THE POWER BOARD DEAD WITH CLOTHES TRAPPED IN DIRTY WATER. I CONTACTED LG CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY ARRANGED FOR A REPAIR. THE TECHNICTION TOLD ME IT WOULD TAKE 5 OR 6 DAYS FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS. WHEN THEY BROUGHT THE PARTS AND DOING THE REPAIR THE GLASS TOP ON THE MACHINE SHATTERED! THE REPAIRMAN WAS NOT DOING ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY TO CAUSE THIS. ANOTHER DELAY WAITING FOR THESE PARTS. MY OPINION IS THAT I HAVE A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT IF MAJOR COMPONENTS ARE BREAKING AND MALFUNCTIONING SO SOON. LG CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT GOOD EITHER. THEY REALLY DON'T CARE THAT THEIR PRODUCT IS DEFECTIVE. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER LG PRODUCT NOR WOULD I RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE ELSE. HOME DEPO SHOULD RECONSIDER SELLING OR RECOMMENDING THESE PRODUCTS.

Love the design
5 Star Review   By Strap on Home Depot - Sep 16, 2012

After our 15 year old Maytag threw in the towel I went on a two day research fest to determine which one was next. I had several friends who were quick to tell me the issues with their front loads so I stayed with top load designs. I am an engineer and liked the idea of direct drive motor. I didnt know anyone personally that has an LG appliance but the reviews were solid and Consumer reports had it rated best in class. We purchased the washer and matching dryer and which arrived a week ago. I CANT STOP WATCHING THE WASHER WORK through the glass. Its fascinating ! I am impressed with the manufacturing quality and hope I can say the same about its longevity.

Love this Washer
5 Star Review   By hc13 on Home Depot - Sep 16, 2012

I chose this over a front loading washer based on freinds advice and am very happy with this purchase. It has all the warm-fuzzies (looks nice, plays a little tune when you hit the power button and at the end of a cycle, intuitive to operate- the power panel looks more compicated than it is) and is also a top notch performer: quiet, very efficient use of water and most important: my clothes come out clean and unharmed.

4 Star Review   By fh727 on Home Depot - Sep 15, 2012

Overall I am pleased with my purchase. I believe the machine is somewhat rough on my clothes. I find my towels beginning to fray on the edges. Could possibly be time for them to fray but I'm not seeing it until the new machine.

5 Star Review   By Mike on Home Depot - Sep 12, 2012

We researched all top loading washers on Consumer Reports. We then comparison shopped on the web. Home Depot had the best overall price (considering free delivery and haul away of our old washer). I ordered it online at the HD web site and I was very pleased with the entire process. It was convenient. Delivery was scheduled on line and delivery was on time

So far, so good. It's too soon to know about energy efficiency, but I really love it so far.
5 Star Review   By Stonecarver on Home Depot - Sep 11, 2012

We really appreciate the courtesy and professionalism of the delivery men, as well as their promptness and great work ethic--they were very fast, but thorough. We also love the glass top on the washer and the fact that there is no agitator, so the clothes are not damaged, and it holds a huge load of clothes. We like it much better, so far, than the front loader Bosch we replaced, because it holds more and we don't have to contend with the mildew factor of front loaders.

A good washing machine
5 Star Review   By Ark235B on Home Depot - Sep 9, 2012

This unit is highly rated for a good reason. Plenty of features and it washes clothes clean. It does take some time to learn what cycles and setting to use for each load. I little trial and error is all it takes. I wish the water drained from the detergent dispenser.

5 Star Review   By Dee18 on Home Depot - Sep 7, 2012

Excellant machine for the price, very easy to use, many differnt features to choose from, not sure on energy efficiency yet as we just bought it but I'm sure it will be fine. My washer and dryer are in the kitchen on the main floor and it's nice and quiet only hear when the water is filling. and that's not even loud. Thought it may be a smaller tub but it's nice to just stuff a queen bedspread in it without a problem. Definately would recommend this washer

Excellent cleaning with little effort.

This machine uses very little soap and yet everything comes out so clean. I also have so many options. The delivery was quick and easy. The professionals who installed it had it working in no time and I had no cleaning up to do.

Great for the money!
4 Star Review   By AyannaB on Home Depot - Sep 4, 2012

I got this washer out of frustration with my old one, and on sale. It's top-loading, direct drive, does not have an agitator and is ENERGY EFFICIENT. Which translates into cost and time efficient. The signal is a delightful little tune. The only drawback is the operation. While it's easy for me to figure it out, I can see how some people (my husband included) could be frustrated by the dial-less, multiple push-button operation. It's not that difficult, but it's not as user friendly as "turn dial and press start". But to be fair, it's those multiple settings that give further eco-friendly options. I'd recommend it over it's similarly priced front loading sister.

Best buy!!!
5 Star Review   By vallisgrad on Home Depot - Sep 4, 2012

I researched Consumer Reports and this was one of the top two, but the least expensive. Since Home Depot didn't carry Samsung, I took a chance on LG, and I couldn't be happier. It is beautiful to look at, so quiet during the wash, I had to check at first if it was on, and plays a cute little tune when the clothes are ready. Since it cleans and rinses so well, the clothes spend less time in the dryer, which also saves energy. I would recommend this washer to anyone looking for a new one. Also, I feel I got the best deal. I did find it priced less at another local hardware store, but they would have charged for delivery and hauling the old washer away, so it would have not been a savings. So glad I bought this washer from Home Depot.

Quiet
4 Star Review   By DomesticGoddess on Home Depot - Aug 28, 2012

I bought this washer online and had it delivered, which was a first for me. I have been satisfied so far, we have had the washer about 6 weeks. It is so much quieter than my Maytag HE that it replaced (it sounded like a jet taking off LOL). I can have the laundry room door open now when I am doing laundry! The clear top is pretty cool, lets you see what is going on inside while it is working. There is not a "whites" setting which is kind of odd; apparently you just use the cotton setting. It pauses and unlocks the lid quickly, if you forgot a sock or something. My clothes smell better than when I washed with my HE. It washes quickly, so laundry is not an all day event. Sweet chime sound, instead of irritating buzz for end of cycle.Very Happy!

This is a terrible washer, don't waste your money!
1 Star Review   By Momof2 on Home Depot - Aug 28, 2012

This washer does not get clothes clean, and it is obvious why - it doesn't even get the clothes on top WET, much less CLEAN. I watched it "washing" and it never sucked the pair of jeans on top down into the water. They stayed dry! Plus, clothes come out so incredibly wrinkled that I can't even iron the wrinkles out. I have tried every setting and it's still the same. I can't understand why this machine has gotten any good reviews. Who wants their clothes dirty and wrinkled up like a shriveled up piece of bacon? I'd get better results if I took the clothes outside and sprayed them with a hose. Very disappointed.

Couldn't be happier with LG HE top-load washer!
5 Star Review   By Familyof4 on Home Depot - Aug 28, 2012

Did a lot of reading re: HE top-load washers before choosing LG HE 3.7 cu. ft. Consumers Report rated high. Customer reviews good. This is our first HE washer. It has many options, washes great, and is unbelievably quiet! Important to read and follow the instructions in booklet that comes with machine. Haven't had the problems reported re: other brands of HE top-load washers.

So far so good
4 Star Review   By bhill88 on Home Depot - Aug 28, 2012

This machine is going to have to strive hard to beat the last machine for longevity. The sticker on the back showed that we bought it 23 1/2 years ago. One of the features l like on this machine is that it adjusts the amount of water to the load. This was a problem with our old machine. My daughters are known to wash a small load once in a while. I rarely wash anything but large and extra large loads so I would run a load and not notice how the machine was set. I have run several large and extra large loads with only a small amount of water. I also like how much water is spun out of the clothes when this machine is done. I have noticed that the drying time is greatly reduced. Tray where you add detergent is always full of water which seems like a weird situation but hasn't caused a problem as of yet.

Good Machine
5 Star Review   By Nixon on Home Depot - Aug 28, 2012

We wash and hang up some of our clothes and they seem to be more wrinkled than our old machine. Possibly because it gets more water removed in the spin cycle. It seem to be a good machine so far.

Quiet, user-friendly, pretty
5 Star Review   By TXgal on Home Depot - Aug 28, 2012

I love this washer. I can hardly hear it running and like the self-balancing feature. Clothes get very clean and smell wonderful. The control panel is intuitive and easy to use. Don't know yet what energy efficiency is but I suspect it will be good. Great capacity for size of unit. It is also a very pretty appliance. I wasn't sure I'd like the clear lid but it is a nice feature. Compared with the Maytags I've bought for the past 30 years, it's far better.

This product is so much better then the reviews.
5 Star Review   By annyoakly on Home Depot - Aug 24, 2012

I read reviews on a large selection of washer and chose this one on the reviews. I love this washer, it is quite & easy to operate. I love that it only add enough water to wash not the regular S,M &L. Everything comes out clean regardless of how much water I think it needs, the washer does it right. The tub is huge I have yet to fill it more then 1/2 full. My old large capacity one was always full. With no agitator theres a ton of room sure didn't need the larger size. Home depot were wonderful set it up and started it. Been so happy ever since.

COMPLETEY INEFFECTIVE
1 Star Review   By Gregory on Home Depot - Aug 23, 2012

After using this washer for better than nine months, it is neither 'thorough or effective' as advertised for anything but barely soiled laundry. In order to clean anything moderately soiled (such as baby or children's clothing), the garment needs to be pre-treated and semi-washed by hand, put through extra soak cycles, washed with longer 'heavy duty' settings, and extra long rinse. Sometimes one washing isn't sufficient. For bulky items, such as towels, the water doesn't mix very well. The hotter water stays on the bottom, while water at the top becomes very cold. Don't bother trying to wash laundry from construction, as I am. Each time I speak with customer service, (when I am able to get through) I am told a different set of steps or methods, often inconsistent with the owners manual (i.e. owner's manual states you can fill the machine to the top without stuffing; customer service recomends no more than 3/4 full). I'm using more water for all the multiple cycles than I was with my old 'inefficient' washer. We are very disappointed with this purchase.

5 Star Review   By Shari on Home Depot - Aug 17, 2012

I did alot of research before buying this machine. I am satisfied with my decision. It uses less energy and water. It's a little odd at first to watch it work, because it is so different from the old machines, but it gets the job done! Very quiet and efficient. I would recommend this to anyone in the market for a new washer.

So far so good
4 Star Review   By Satisfied on Home Depot - Aug 13, 2012

I've had this product for about a month now and all seems to be good. You do have to make sure it's balanced or it will make a clicking noise during the agitate cycle, and the water level is a bit low which is initially concerning, but that's the way it is with all new HE machines. Just follow the directions given by the manual, and maybe check out the videos LG has posted on their website and your machine will work great. We had initially purchased the GE Adora set which ultimately went back to the store due to poor craftsmanship (broke after a week), and based upon relatively good reviews and a better manufacturer warranty, we decided upon this washer and matching dryer. I would highly recommend them based on quality and performance thus far.

Outstanding appliance with excellent results. Decided for the top load washer, my existing GE dryer still works very well, but will most certainly buy the LG dryer in the future. Point and click, add to your cart and get it delivered ASAP. I am thrilled with my new machine
5 Star Review   By Linda on Home Depot - Aug 7, 2012

Tis is a great machine. I was concerned that it might be too small- since the other washers available were so huge; however it holds twice the load of my previous top load w/agitator. I am very pleased with the huge amount of laundry I am able to wash in an energy and water efficient load. The clothes are very clean and I like the feature that I can select from many options the temperature of water, spin intensity, quick wash, slow wash, gentle.. and many other custom settings. The one caution is that the high spin is very fast..which is great for towels, but will wrinkle some clothes...so I just use medium or delicate spin and that takes care of it.

Arrived fresh out of the box and off the delivery truck completely inoperative ....only thing worse about having a non functioning. Unit was the treatment and lack of concern by LG in trying to get the issue resolved ....ultimately exchanged this lemon for a super basic washer a fraction of the price and couldn't be happier with it.....steer. clear of digital operated washers....one small issue and it creates a cascade failure making the entire unit shut down....stick with dials and knobs...simple is best....if I could rate this appliance zero I would but one star was the lowest

4 Star Review   By calebjc on Home Depot - Aug 5, 2012

At first I thought this top loader wasn't really getting the top of the heap pushed down and cycled under, but after close inspection, it seems to. So far, clothes are clean. No bending over too far, and don't need a water tight seal. There's a little water left over in the soap tray, but easy to take out.

Recommended by Consumer Reports with good reason
5 Star Review   By AmyL on Home Depot - Aug 4, 2012

After doing my internet research on washers, I decided on this washer because of its large capacity, great reviews, price, and shorter washing time verses other more-expensive front-load washers. And compared to my previous top-load washer, I was most impressed by how well it spins the clothes. It took about half as long for me to dry the clothes in the dryer as before. I didn't notice a major difference in the cleaning quality from my old machine, but I was happy with that anyway. The display is easy to use, and has a child lock feature so your kids won't mess up your cycle. I have only had the machine for 1 month, but so far, so good. Plus I got a rebate from my energy provider because of the high energy efficiency. I would certainly recommend the machine.

Extremely quiet
4 Star Review   By Jane123 on Home Depot - Aug 3, 2012

I read all of the reviews prior to purchasing this washer and had some concerns. I have been very pleased in the month I have had it. This is my second high efficieny top loader. The first lasted 10 years and still worked, but the electronic controls were destroyed in a storm. This machine is MUCH quieter than my old HE washer and produces much less vibration. Everything has come out clean and in good shape. As mentioned in other reviews, the spin is very strong and items tend to be twisted and bunched - more so than in my previous washer. TIP - I have discovered that items washed on delicate are not left in this condition. I use this cycle for items that I line dry and everything has been great. Some have complained about washing dirty items - TIP - the washer has a soak cycle and also i have found that items washed on the bulky/bedding cycle get a lot more water which tends to improve washing of very dirty items. One positive of the rigorous spin cycle - dryer times are much reduced! Overall I am please with the purchase.

IT is just "different"
4 Star Review   By momof4 on Home Depot - Aug 3, 2012

The high efficiency washers are just "different"..Not better, not worse, but different. I personally don't think it washes my clothes any better than the conventional washer. I would strongly recommend to visit a friend who has a high efficiency washer to see how it truly works before you make a purchase. The beauty of this washer is the glass lid so you can see what is actually happening.....and I must say, my 4 kids were glued to the washer when I first made purchase. IT spins crazy fast and kids seem to like to watch it. I just can't seem to figure out how it truly cleans the clothes...the agitation motion is minimal then it goes into this crazy spin then back to its so called agitation motion..it cycles this way. I did consider returning within my 14 day grace period and purchasing the old school washer..but with 4 kids under the age of 10 and a 95lb dog. I need the ability to throw large items in frequently..i.e. comforters, towels. That is the only reason I kept the washer. I would purchase this washer over other HE washers for sure. It does what it is suppose to do. No need to purchase the stools as in the front loaders, and the price was fantastic compared to other models. I have nothing negative to say but not "impressed" as I expected, but I believe my feelings would be the same if I purchased any HE washer. The clothes do come out fairly twisted, I have to take the time to put in dryer almost one by one so I can untwist. If you are a small family..you may really just consider going "old school". I am still trying to figure out the right amount of detergent. It definitely takes a smaller amount than the typical capful..At first clothes were kind of crispy..I think from too much detergent that didn't get rinsed out. I think we are all caught up on the "hype" of the HE washer. For decades, the old school washer seemed to do just fine. Also, I can't add any laundry enhancer (i.e. Oxi-clean)..so in actuality, my kids clothes were more "stain free" with the conventional washer. The installation guy did tell me he went back to conventional washer after few years. Something to think about!!

Much better than what I had
4 Star Review   By JP11 on Home Depot - Jul 31, 2012

My FAVORITE thing about our new washer is it is quiet. It is located on the second floor, next to bedrooms, so that was very important. Also important is that it does not cause everything to vibrate like our old washer did. I also like that it shows the minutes left till it's finished. I can also tell the spin cycle works better as clothes are dryer when I pull them out, so I'm sure they spend less time in the dryer. My biggest complaint would be when I open the detergent/fabric softener dispenser, it is full of water so I need to pull it all the way out to empty it. I read in the manual it is normal for there to be some water in there, but I'd consider it too much if I have to empty it every time I go to start a load. Also it starts with warm water as a default and so I have to switch to cold each time as I only wash with cold unless it's towels or sheets. (I need to investigate further if I can tweek this.)

Don't hesitate!
5 Star Review   By Blondie111 on Home Depot - Jul 20, 2012

Buying a larger washer isn't necessary, and this is coming from someone who does wash for 6 on a regular basis. The interior space of this is actually larger than the space of the one it replaced, and that was a "larger" front-loader (I will never go back...the mold issues were revolting). There is no tower, so all space is utilized for the purpose of washing! It's whisper quiet (and sings to you to signal it's done!) and it WORKS. Far superior results. Home Depot follow thru was great too...delivery was on promised date, guys were on time, careful and professional. I've absolutely no complaints...and don't forget to check the rebate section...our power company currently has a rebate on certain purchases.

4 Star Review   By HDPo333 on Home Depot - Jul 19, 2012

I have had my new washer for about a week. Everything I have washed so far has come out very clean with a greatly reduced amount of water being used. There are just the right number of cycles and options on this machine for the types of laundry I do for our family of five. I did also wash a queen comforter that seemed clean and fresh, but was a bit more damp than I would have liked.

New LG Washer
5 Star Review   By MindyR on Home Depot - Jul 14, 2012

I just replaced my 18 year old Whirlpool; never had a service call in that time. Finally, the motor burned out. I shopped around, decided Home Depot had the largest selection. I looked at many brands and models. Of course, over 18 years, much had changed and improved. My new LG just came yesterday and I have already done two loads of wash in it. It runs quiet, is water efficient, has many features. I'm hoping that this machine will give me as much successful use in the years to come as my Whirlpool. From the reviews I have read here, and elsewhere, it looks as if I made a good choice. Even the delivery men said LG is the top brand, in their opinion.

A Very Cool Washer (and matching dryer)!
5 Star Review   By Veganman on Home Depot - Jul 11, 2012

So, I struggled trying to decide on a replacement washer and dryer. Did a bunch of research, (including joining Consumer Reports, which ranked this washer as the best top-loader!). Every washer I considered had some negative reviews, so it was a challenge, but I finally picked the LG with the matching dryer. The only negative comments to this point are as follows: I wish the "cycle complete alarm" would keep repeating until someone responded and emptied the washer or dryer (a small complaint, but my wife is rather forgetful...). And the top of the washer and dryer are made of some sort of plastic material that can be easily scratched, so be careful if you are the type who is bothered by a scratch or two. Otherwise, these two have worked flawlessly: the washer really spin dries the moisture out of the clothes on the final spin cycle, so the dryer doesn't really have much work left to do. We have found both items easy to use, easy to learn. So far, so good (we have had them for about one month). We both love them.

Great buy!
5 Star Review   By HEQL on Home Depot - Jul 10, 2012

We have only had this for a few weeks, but so far, we love it. Pros: *Cost -- The base price was good, plus we got an instant rebate and a state energy incentive. *Capacity -- We have 4 kids and have already seen a reduction in the number of loads we need to do because we can fit so much more into a single load than we could in our old top-loader with an agitator. *Quiet! -- This machine is sooooo quiet -- and not just compared to my old one that was noisy as all get-out. It is so quiet that I forget that it's even running. Thank goodness for the load finished indicator. *Timer -- I never would have imagined that I would care, but it's kind of nice to see how long a load will take or how long it has left before it's done. It gives me a better sens of when I will need to grab a load for drying or if I can start a load before I leave the house, etc. *Features: I like the number of cycles that are available and that I can change most settings, such as water temp, if I want to. Even the LCD board set up is growing on me. Cons: *Water stays trapped in the detergent dispenser, so when you open it, water pours out. We have learned to NOT open the dispenser to empty this water before removing the freshly spun clothes and to leave the top of the machine and dispenser open between cycles so the dispenser and drum can dry. *Spin only -- There may be a way to do this, but I haven't found it yet and may have to go online to the complete manual . . .sometimes I set the spin speed lower for items but find that they could use some extra spin time. Right now, I can only see a RINSE and spin. Sometimes, I don't want to rinse, just spin items. Potential Con: I am not sure yet how I feel about the glass top. We have limited counter space in our adjacent kitchen and used to put things on the top of our old washer to cool or even to store (birthday cakes pre-party, holiday feast items, full laundry basket as we sorted, etc.). Now I'm afraid to put anything on top of the new machine because I'm afraid of scratching or cracking the glass! I have heard others with HE top loaders complain that the clothes get very wrinkled from the high speed, but this hasn't been a problem for us. Overall, we have been very happy with the machine so far. Hopefully, we will continue to be!

Love my LG Washer
5 Star Review   By happy1027 on Home Depot - Jul 10, 2012

I love my new LG washer, it uses less water, is quiet can handle the large loads I need washed and it actually washed my king size comforter that I used to have to take to the laundromat. I would highly recommend this washing machine to anyone. I did my research and am extremely happy with my purchase.

5 Star Review   By Ronald on Home Depot - Jul 9, 2012

washer runs great.i use low spin speed. i use triple rinse, tap the extra rinse button twice. when you are done with washing clothes, pull out detergent tray to its full length, but do not pull out, so the excess water will drain out of the tray then push back in and leave one quarter inch open to air out and leave washer lid open. if this washer lasts for at least 8 years without a service call like my other brand washer did, i will be happy.

Makes Laundry FUN!
5 Star Review   By mommyoboys on Home Depot - Jul 8, 2012

As a mother of boys I spend a lot of time doing laundry, but now I love getting all of my laundry done...in just a few hours! My kids think the glass top is awesome and could watch the clothes wash all day :) I really like that it doesn't use much water or soap. The clothes come out almost dry and take less time in the dryer! We got the matching dryer as well and are very impressed!

So far, so good
4 Star Review   By ADS80026 on Home Depot - Jul 3, 2012

I've had this washing machine for around six weeks now. I've used it extensively and it's been very easy to use. Not having the agitator in the middle makes it easy to load - just dump a laundry bag in or a load of towels. I'm still a bit apprehensive about the low water levels during the wash cycle, but it appears to be doing a good job.

Great washer, worth the wait !
5 Star Review   By Cleancarol on Home Depot - Jul 3, 2012

We love this washer! The clothes come out very clean without using a lot of water. The spin cycle is great, the majority of the water is removed resulting in significantly reduced dryer time. This washer holds a lot of clothes.

MEH,
3 Star Review   By michael on Home Depot - Jul 2, 2012

No hot water wash, Everything is cold. (all hoses hooked up properly.) What annoys me is the "sale" I got - $50 off - ended and then the price was immediately *reduced* by $150.

Awesome washer!
5 Star Review   By ejms on Home Depot - Jul 2, 2012

I did a lot of research before buying this W/D, actually almost 8hrs of research, I did not want to regret my choice. I went back and forth first between either front load or top load, top load high efficiency or regular, making a choice but then reviews were bad, comparing prices, visiting retailers, etc. Final choice came down to this, and have to say that I am very happy with my choice. A high efficiency W/D just like a front loader but from the top, at a very good price, and no maintenance like a front loader requires. The machines look great, with great electronic functions, easy to use - and I love the fact that you can see inside the washer and dryer as they operate, just like a front loader. Best of all worlds IMO!

Error Message on 1st Load
3 Star Review   By amomnus on Home Depot - Jun 30, 2012

We received the LG WT4801CW washer and matching dryer this morning. 10 minutes after the 1st load started, the washing machine stopped working and indicated an error message. We could not get the washer to continue the cycle. We restarted it twice and both times, it would come to a complete stop and indicate an error. We looked up the error message in the manual and it recommended we verify the water supply taps were turned on and also check the hoses to ensure they were not kinked. Everything was properly in place. After spending a couple of hours on and off the phone with Home Depot, they recommended we unplug the unit and let it sit for 10 minutes to reprogram itself. Low and behold, it worked. Home Depot notified LG of the problem and assured us that a technician would be following up within 24 hours. So far, we have run about 8 loads and have had no further problems. I am hoping this was just a fluke. Other than that frustrating little problem, the washing machine seems to clean clothes very well and is impressively quiet. I like the see through top and the ability to pause the locked load and throw more clothes in once washer is filling with water. I am not sure I would recommend this washer yet as we have only had it one day and started off on the wrong footing. I do want to acknowledge Home Depot for the great customer service and helping us resolve this problem.

Don't waste $$, my 10yo washer cleans better and faster
1 Star Review   By JAG92 on Home Depot - Jun 30, 2012

I have never been so disappointed. The wash cycles take 2 to 3 times longer to process & the clothes come out dirty still. It's so water miserly that it will not remove simple food particles. No such thing as adding an article of clothing once the cycle began, lid is locked. My advice is buy a cheap agitator style washer, it will perform far superior to this product.

Best washer I have ever owned!
5 Star Review   By LollieS on Home Depot - Jun 30, 2012

After extensive research and reading thousands of reviews, I purchased this LG HE toploader. I love it! It has passed every challenge with flying colors. I have a very large yard, which requires a lot of manual labor to maintain, which means piles of really dirty, grass stained clothing. I also have 2 cats and 2 large dogs, so add in pet hair and more mud, grass stains and mystery muck. I worried that by using less water, and having no agitator, the dirt and stains would never come out--but they do. It also has a much larger capacity than my old agitator super capacity model. This washer is extremely quiet, even when spinning. Loads take longer to wash (about 1 hour depending on soil level selected), but spin clothes so dry that loads that used to take over 1 hour to dry are now done in ~ 20 min. So the time balances out, but uses much less energy. I also like that I can outsmart the machine by selecting bulky items setting, if I need more water than usual. This washer also has a delayed start timer, which is convenient, because you don't want to leave wet clothes sitting in the washer a long time-they tend to wrinkle more, since they are drier. These new machines are totally computerized. I recommend reading the owners manual, because this is a whole new way of washing (e.g. place heavier items on the bottom). The detergent/softener drawer does fill w/ water, so will need to be pulled out and emptied if you use liquid detergent. This does not happen if you use laundry powders. I have had no mildew problems, but I do leave the lid open when not in use. Unfortunately, all new washers today come w/ a 1 yr warranty. If you purchase your machine w/ a credit card, check to see if your card offers to double your warranty for free(many of them do)--just keep the receipt --it is better than purchasing an extended warranty. There are so many negative reviews out there, on every machine, that it is hard to make a decision. This washer had more positive reviews than the others. I now know why. I love my new LG washer.

This washer is AMAZING!
5 Star Review   By skerfan2284 on Home Depot - Jun 29, 2012

My wife makes fun of me because I enjoy watching the clothes wash in this machine! I think i love it so much because it is SO quiet, and you can tell it is made well. The quality is amazing, and the HE options are amazing. It is incredible to see it use only 1/4 of the water of a traditional washer and clean the clothes better!

only one water temp: tepid
1 Star Review   By KDinNJ on Home Depot - Jun 28, 2012

I am so disappointed. No matter what water temp you select, you get tepid water. Select hot, get tepid. Select cold, get tepid. That's it. I had a repair person out here, he called in to tech support in front of me, and tech support told him that this is how the machine works, it's not broken and it's not their problem. They have no intention of addressing it and suggest I take it up with Home Depot. I shall. In the mean time, I suggest to anyone now shopping for a machine to walk right past this one. It does not do what LG says it will do.

Works Great! Will save money!
5 Star Review   By 19elktaker51 on Home Depot - Jun 26, 2012

I read the reviews on this washer before I purchased the washer. I must say some people have strange ideas about what the washer should do and the appearance of the washer while doing its job. I must admit I was worried as we watched the first load go through the cycles. It did not appear to be using enough water to clean the clothes. My mistake. The clothes came out clean as any washer we have had before and I know that our water bill is going to be much less than when using our old washer. This washer is quiet to the point that you want to check to see if it is running. WOW!!! This is a very remarkable washing machine. It works VERY well!
