How can this be "Energy Efficient"
1 Star Review   By Suzie on Home Depot - Jun 16, 2013

First, The machine will not fill with enough water to really agitate the clothes. I specifically bought this machine so I could control the water level. But with the minimal water the motor has to work that much harder to actually move the clothes around, (I think the extended warranty would be a good idea). Even though the machine has load size choices for water levels it still uses the minimum. It is not like they used to be where they would fill up with water, not even when you use the 2nd rinse option. Second, the spin cycle goes on forever! This is not cleaning the clothes, it's just wearing on the motor (again). Third, you can't stop the machine from completing the cycle. I paused the spin cycle after it had spun for what seemed like forever, and took the clothes out. But then it still had to complete the entire cycle before I could start another load. I really don't like the "energy efficiency" in this machine at all. I'm taking it back.

Great washer, just different
4 Star Review   By KC37 on Home Depot - Jun 14, 2013

This washer takes a long, long time to complete the wash cycle, as compared to my old machine. While the tub does hold more, I still have to separate whites, delicates, etc. into separate loads and my total washing time seems to be longer. Drying is quicker however, since the washer does an excellent job of wringing. My clothes are cleaned as expected, from delicates to jeans and sheets. I leave the water level on "auto-load sensing" and it works surprisingly well. Definitely saves on water!

fabulous value
5 Star Review   By ALCH on Home Depot - Jun 7, 2013

We had 2 very expensive front loader machines (one German made one cost $1800) They both were trash within a few years. The drum breaks free of the supports that hold it horizontally and it cost more to fix than it's worth. So we decided to go "old school" and go back to a washer like the first one we had...a top loader. The clothes are just as clean, it's quieter than either of the expensive ones and if it breaks we'll just replace it with another. We absolutely love it.

5 Star Review   By ABCB on Home Depot - May 7, 2013

My last Washer was also a GE and it lasted 12 years, so when I was looking to replace it I stayed with GE. My clothes are very clean and the spin cycle is awesome, which reduces drying time. It has a huge capacity which is great because I have a large family.I am very happy with the product and the price.

Sounds like a 747-Good Product Overall
4 Star Review   By rosebud on Home Depot - Apr 26, 2013

Sounds like a 747 taking off! Very happy with this machine except for the loud noises this machine makes . Clothes dry faster because of less water used and the hard loud spin cycle. 42 min. to complete 'speed wash' set on Colors, Large Load, Power Rinse. 55 min on regular wash with the same settings. Pros: wash does come out clean, does have softner and bleach dispensers, can soak clothes overnight. Would recommend except for the noise level and slightly longer wash time.

VERY disappointing machine...HOLY COW!
1 Star Review   By disappointed on Home Depot - Mar 31, 2013

I thought I was buying a clothes washer, not a clothes wetter. It’s like the space shuttle. You have little control over what it does after it starts except to pause it. It didn’t agitate very well in one mode, so I clicked over to a different mode and it drained (all) the water I just ran into it so it could start completely over. Three times I did this to check out the different modes. That sure saves a lot of water! It agitates so slow that I can understand why it's so quiet...IT'S NOT DOING ANYTHING! Open the lid and put a magnet on the safety switch and watch it do very, very little. It agitates almost 1/4 the speed of my old washer and doesn't pull most of the clothes under the water. They mostly go round and round. My first load was up to the level it suggested as max load. All subsequent loads were much lower than the max and the machine was set on super. This is another eco friendly, granola-crunching work of art that doesn't work! I looked at the reviews on here before buying it, but the folks who commented must not have actually seen what's going on under the lid while the machine is "working". I miss my washing machine that was held together by bailing wire and duct tape. It's been a few weeks, so I don't know if I can still return this lemon. Dang!!!

THE WORST WASHER EVER.........STAY AWAY
1 Star Review   By DP33 on Home Depot - Mar 21, 2013

I bought this washer last summer. It worked fine. When the winter season came and I had to wash long sleeve shirts and sweats with drawstrings it became a nightmare. It would knot all the clothes around the middle agitator and it would take forever to unknot the clothes. The sleeves were so stretched and the draw strings would be pulled out of the clothes. I've tried to put less in, tried to pull slvs inside shirt before wash, nope. Also, sometimes I have to run the extra spin because the clothes are still wet. I hate this machine and I am calling GE to see where I get. I would love a new machine because this one will ruin your clothes.

Terrific machine
5 Star Review   By Washerwoman on Home Depot - Mar 19, 2013

Just got this washer which replaced $1000+ HE front loader. I couldn't wait to get rid of that washer. I was able to buy this machine for the same amount it would have cost to repair the front loader. It handled three big loads today efficiently and quietly. I was able to wash bulky items that the front loader could never wash properly because it couldn't balance the load.

4 Star Review   By Maverick1 on Home Depot - Mar 12, 2013

Washer is in red rather than white, loaded with features, and seems to use much less water. Machine is makes much more noise than 13 year old botton line Frididaire it replaced. Takes two people to move it. Pedestal is nice but costs nearly $250 extra.

Very pleased with this product
5 Star Review   By quilter on Home Depot - Mar 12, 2013

My 23 year old washing machine was experiencing some difficulties. Just by chance I received a Home Depot e-mail announcing an appliance sale, I am so pleased with this machine. It is so quiet ,I hardly know it is running. The spin cycle has shorten the drying time of our clothes. I feel it will lower our electric bill. I love the stainless steel tub and the large capacity, it was a great purchase.

4 Star Review   By Trixie99 on Home Depot - Mar 5, 2013

Personally, I do not like the auto-sensor setting for a load size even though it is recommended by GE. You can't add liquid detergent before loading the clothes because the water is not filling the drum.

GHWN4250DWW basin broken after 2 hours
1 Star Review   By Pinaywife96 on Home Depot - Mar 3, 2013

I received this on 3/2/2013 and already basin will not agitate. I followed the directions and ran 2 speed cycles then I tried small load with only fabric softener ball inside so I could confirm the tub agitation was working. The fabric softener ball did not move. I should have heard it bang around while basin agitated but no go. Now I have to wait to swap out for another new washer. Hoping the next one won't do the same thing! I had my last GE for 12 years. They don't make them like that anymore.

5 Star Review   By cleans56 on Home Depot - Feb 27, 2013

my old washer broke down and i had to purchase a new one pronto. the descriptions on this machine did not do it justice. many settings and each one is better than the last ! clothes are cleaned to the max and the extra rinse cycle makes clothes softer, leaving them also smelling fresh. i just hope it doesn't leak after a year as stated in previous comments. love this machine!!

Excellent Washing Machine
5 Star Review   By Holly on Home Depot - Feb 26, 2013

After reading horrendous reviews on front loaders I decided to stick with a top loader. With a family of 6 we do a lot of laundry and this washer does not disappoint. I'm amazed how much laundry I can fit into one load and it cleans our clothes well. It is really quiet too, not that it makes a difference in my noisy house. Also, we couldn't beat the price and free shipping.

To Loud for apartments
2 Star Review   By fuscia on Home Depot - Jan 31, 2013

I live in an apartment and the last thing I want in my life is more noise. My neighbor up stairs must have one of these too because when her's enters the spin cycle it sounds like a small propeller plane is getting ready for take off! And these things sound like they have multiple spin cycles for 1 load! Due to the way it attempts to clean clothes with less water. In general the machine buzzes, and clanks the whole time it's running and it takes longer than my older machine to do a load due to it's washing method. I also don't trust that it's getting my laundry cleaner using less water. I didn't actually want an HE washer, but the sales person made it sound like it was a regular washer that could be "switched" into HE mode when using the Precise Fill mode. Plus either the GE washer or Dryer I bought with it had a horrible rubbery smell that would not go away. I've never had noise or smell with a regular inefficient standard washer before. I'm going to try and return it and get another Roper or Whirlpool.

Run from this washing machine
1 Star Review   By a2buzmom on Home Depot - Dec 22, 2012

If you like clean clothes with minimum bleeding, this is not the washing machine for you. The smart fill option only discharges enough water to wet your clothes, it does not cover them. the agitation on all settings is agitating to the mind, not the clothes! it is so slow the it allow fabric bleeding even on clothes that haven't bled in years. White are dingy, even with bleach, simple stains don't come out, not even when treated and re-washed. None of the water levels will fill the tub, will any of the setting increase the agitation, believe me I tried them all. Spoke to the manufacturer to see if something could be done and they said, that's the way it was designed for enery efficiency. I think this one should have gone through a little more testing before it was unleashed on the public. I mean you buy a washer to clean dirty clothes and this one was designed not to...go figure. With the exception of a click here and there the washer is impressively quite; but get ready for the final spin cycle; it's eerily loud, but you get used to it because not only will it automatically balance a wobbly load (nice), it leaves the clothes much dryer than I've ever seen.

Very pleased so far
5 Star Review   By Cait on Home Depot - Dec 19, 2012

I've had this machine for 3+ months and wouldn't trade it for a fancier, more expensive model. Does a great job washing clothes for our family of 4. I recommend skimming through the manual to understand some of the settings ("color" vs "whites" for example, and "cold" vs "tap cold"). Have washed hand-knit afghans and other delicates on the "handwash" cycle and was very hapy.

cleans well but not to be left unattended
2 Star Review   By moi62 on Home Depot - Dec 6, 2012

Clothes come out clean but this machine ties sleeves and pants legs into knots. And it does not have an automatic shut off when the load gets unbalanced which it seems to do frequently after creating knots. You need to be near to stop it from banging across the floor. Mine overflowed once for an unknown reason, the repairman could find nothing wrong. It only did it once. But I don't trust this machine enough to stray too far from the laundry room when using it, which is a bother.

Fair performance
2 Star Review   By CMAE on Home Depot - Dec 2, 2012

This washer looks good. However, on a weekly basis I am fishing out garments that get underneath and wound up in agitator. I have had luck removing them by turning garment counterclockwise. I had to put in a service call this week because I am unable to remove a garment that is wound too tight. I have owned this washer 4 months. I cannot rely on this washer without wondering if I will have to call for service every time I wash a load.

Don't bother.
1 Star Review   Home Depot

I don't know, maybe it's just my machine, but I bought this machine in May of 2012, the first week I used it stockings got stuck in the small space between the agitator and the bottom of the tub. Okay I shouldn't wash stockings in the machine, I do them by hand now. My machine is broke again now with a table cloth stuck in the small space between the agitator and the bottom of the tub. Now I can't wash tablecloths? What's next sheets and pillowcases? Don't bother buying this machine I have to wait for the repairman again.

Worst Machine EVER!!
1 Star Review   By Michele on Home Depot - Nov 7, 2012

I only had this washer about 24 hours. After second wash, hoses leaking. (was a waterfall down the back of the machine). Hubby changed out the new hoses and put my old machines' hoses on to fix problem. On about the 4th load of laundry I could hear this awful BANG. It was the washer. Ge repairman came and told me it was the motor and could be replaced. I said forget it, let them take it away. I went out to a local scratch and dent/refurbished place and bought my old type washer that I loved for half the money! NOW I am happy.

Love the stainless steel tub!
4 Star Review   By KatT on Home Depot - Nov 1, 2012

I'm very happy with the cycles, water temps, spin choices, and the auto-sensing water level feature in this efficient quality washer. My only disappointment is that at 5'2", I cannot reach the bottom of the tub without straining. GE, please consider this when you revamp these models!

Good Value
4 Star Review   By Elsiem on Home Depot - Oct 30, 2012

This washer was purchased sight unseen on the Home Depot website based on a great sale price and the fact that is a qualifying high efficiency model for my local water company's $150 rebate. Based on a couple of the reviews, I was a bit nervous but have now had this machine for a month and really like it. Like other reviewers noted, the tub can only be filled to about 2/3 capacity. At first the auto-fill sensor didn't seem to add enough water to the loads but my clothes are coming out very clean so no worries there. This machine is quiet and does a good job. It does have a very long wash cycle if you select the specialty settings but I've found using the regular wash setting saves alot of time. Seems to be a really good value and it will save me even more because of a reduced water bill.

Nothing fancy, but exactly what I wanted
5 Star Review   By CoastalClass on Home Depot - Oct 30, 2012

I was looking for an introductory level appliance. I'm aware of newer models that have a lot of fancy features and settings, but realistically this is not something I need, nor would I use if I had them. I just wanted a well priced efficient model with basic features. This met those standards. It has an "auto load sensor" that will adjust the water level to the amount of clothes you put in. Lately I have been selecting this but don't have a way of knowing if it is working as advertised. Take this for what it is worth, but the associate in the store said this was their number one selling appliance, so apparently a lot of people like it. I have this in the basement and when it is running I can't hear it in the living room directly above it. The bonus was that since this was energy star certified my utility company gave me a credit for purchasing it!

Good buy
5 Star Review   By Becky on Home Depot - Oct 30, 2012

This is not a fancy washer. There are minimal wash setting, but the necessities are there. There is no compartment to add detergent and fabric softener in advance. You have to add detergent when you start the load and come back to add softener if you want. I bought it as a staple item because the capacity is huge. It does it's job and more. The wash tub seems endless and I can easily fit comforters and large blankets without feeling like the washer will spin out of control. It's quiet, overall, though the spin cycle is a little noisy like most washers. An overall good buy if you're not looking for frills.

Great value! Lots of Options!
5 Star Review   By jbonline on Home Depot - Oct 30, 2012

This washing machine was just what I was looking for in the $500 price range. I wanted a traditional top loading machine and do not regret my choice. This machine offers numerous load sizes, temperature and wash settings and is easy to use. It was also easy to install. Runs quietly. Have had it about 3 months now and am very happy with it. .

Good product, good service
4 Star Review   By MarVistaDad on Home Depot - Oct 30, 2012

Purchased to replace similar GE model from 12 years ago. Clearly, the technology and feature set at this price point have grown tremendously in that time. We weren't ready to pull the trigger on an upscale front loader or a HE machine, but are very happy with the improvements in feature set and Performance of the machine.

I like the large size of the tub.

I don't like that I can't tell when the cycle will be ending or that I can't open the lid and watch it wash so that I know if there is enough water in it. I am still not sure about the water level feature.

built to fail
1 Star Review   By CleanQuality on Home Depot - Oct 13, 2012

the worst washing machine i have ever used. it agitates very very slowly as if on delicate cycle even if it is set to heavy duty. also, it does NOT rinse well. if you don't put the setting to "power rinse" the water will not fill to the line of the clothes! it fills only a quarter of the way, sloshes around a few times, then drains and spins!!! this is outrageous because there is still soapy water on the clothes! the motor sounds very weak like it will give out in a short time. the manufacturer only gives a warantee for one year, and it sounds like the motor is only built to last that long. it is NOT a heavy duty washer. if you are like me and need a reliable washer, for delicate cycles and heavy duty cycles for construction and sports soiled clothes, trust my experience and look somewhere else. this washer is built to fail.

Do not recommend this washer
1 Star Review   By JLT949 on Home Depot - Oct 3, 2012

Bought this washer two weeks ago and not happy with it. When it spins it is so Loud! Sounds like it is about to explode. The water does not completly empty out either. Plus I thought I was getting a good deal by it being on clearance and I could of bought a brand new one cheaper than what I paid. Not a happy customer!

Great Washing/Sturdy/Lots of Options!
5 Star Review   By JediAaron on Home Depot - Sep 28, 2012

This washer has a huge capacity for one thing, and it looks great, has a ton of dials for features that I've yet to use - but it has them if you need them! It does shake a good amount during the spin cycle (I believe), so if it were indoors it might be noisy, but being that its out in our garage, you'd never know. Works great, cleans the clothes with no complaints.

Great washer
5 Star Review   By Nana on Home Depot - Aug 30, 2012

Only have this washer a short time, but love it! It's quiet, spins clothes almost dry, and plenty of room for full size comforter. Clothes come out really clean. The only "con" is that I am short and reaching into the bottom of the tub to empty the clothes is a stretch (very deep). Home Depot delivery was on time, accommodating and free. Can't beat that!

GE HE top loader washer a nightmare
1 Star Review   By judy on Home Depot - Aug 21, 2012

This machine has been a huge disappointment for the two months that I've had it and so has the GE service dept. The machine makes so much noise in the spin cycle that it sounds like it is about to explode. It constantly has to be stopped to readjust the load no matter how heavy or lght.. The GE service dept. told me all this is normal for the machine. They were going to charge $100 for a service call if the technician couldn't find anything wrong with it--I guess other than the thing is a piece of junk. Thankfully Home Depot is refunding our money.

5 Star Review   By singlemom on Home Depot - Jul 27, 2012

I love this washer. The best feature is the auto fill for the size of your load. You set it and never have to change the load size again. My water bill went down $10.00 in the first month of having it. I raved about it so much my close friend had to buy a new set and she made sure her washer had that feature. It's also very quiet.

Initial machine defective out of the box.
3 Star Review   By G123 on Home Depot - Jul 26, 2012

First machine we received had a metal scraping sound in the wash cycle. Delivery service sent a guy to try to level the machine (something I already had carefully done). No good. Delivery service gave us a GE telephone number to call and said GE will replace machine as a bearing was installed wrong. He was right, GE took our information and offered a new machine. Second machine seems OK. Secret recall? We do like the knob controls and you should buy a net bag for fragile items as agitator will snag them.

5 Star Review   By NOMOREMAYTAGS on Home Depot - Jul 24, 2012

Love that it holds my bedspreads, dog beds, pillow and whatever else I desire to put in. It has an auto-fill feature which lets the machine determine the water volume base on load size - but also gives you the option to choose the water volume yourself. Love the simple knob features, very quiet.

Very disappointed! Water keeps leaking all over the floor
2 Star Review   By Judithanne on Home Depot - Jul 14, 2012

Have had this machine for about 1 month. The service man came out yesterday and advised me that the water was leaking all over because I was not using HE detergent. After he left, the water was again on the floor even though he ran it without detergent! I used HE detergent today and it still leaked out all over the floor even though there was no suds. Also, does not drain out all the water. Have to use the drain and spin several times to get all the water out. It doesn't seem to be working properly. Also, there is no timer to let you know how much time is left. What a piece of junk! We are going to return it ASAP!

Hard to Level and Agitator Issue
3 Star Review   By beaton on Home Depot - Jul 14, 2012

Took delivery on Tuesday July 10, 2012, four days ago, of the GE GHWN4250D0WW. Got a good price on sale from Homeys which sealed the deal even after reading about the agitator issues on this board. I installed the washer, not trusting the delivery guys with some of our install issues in our old home. The washer does not level front to back! The leveling feet on the front adjust it side to side by screwing the feet in and out. You then "level" the washer by tipping the unit forward and the spring loaded back feet automatically adjust to the front feet settings. Would have worked perfectly if my floor was only out of level side to side. I'll leave out how GE repair told me to level the machine, but I jammed wedges into the back feet slots to override the springs. If they fall out, I'll just cut the feet off and shim the back. Then on day four, the fitted bed pad got stuck under the agitator. The GE repair date was 4 days from now. Tech said they use a special tool to cut the sheet out. NOT. The agitator removes by simply pulling it up. Then there is a smaller cylindrical piece with a nut on it. Remove that with a socket and untwist the sheet. There is also another nut which fastens the drum and a bearing. I tried loosening but couldn't budge it. Our sheet was just barely in the bearing and I think I believe I was able to get it all pulled out without removing that nut. Hopefully thats as bad as it gets the next time, which I'm sure there will be. The GE matching dryer install was flawless. The dryer has four individually adjustable screw feet. Dryer was leveled in about 3 minutes. Not sure why they don't use the same setup on the washer? Other than that, the washer works great, seems like our cloths are cleaner that in our previous 3 year old front loader and the house isn't violently vibrating during the spin cycle anymore. The dryer also works fine.

takes too long to go through a cycle and leaves clothes wet
1 Star Review   By disappointed on Home Depot - Jul 8, 2012

Very difficult to see blue lights indentifiying status of cycle. Does not wring out all of the water even with extra rinse cycle. Takes more than one hour to do a medium size load.

Low Quality---Buyer beware
1 Star Review   By NoMoreGE on Home Depot - Jul 5, 2012

This is the most lack of quality item I have ever bought in my life. The product lasted only three loads before I called a repairman. The counter balance weight was starting to break apart causing the washer to constantly be out of balance. I WILL NOT EVER BUY A GE PRODUCT EVER AGAIN. Stay away from this washer.

Happy with it.
4 Star Review   By GrannyAnnie on Home Depot - Jun 21, 2012

We purchased this washer after moving into a house with a laundry room that would not accomodate the front loader and pedestal that I had (and hated). We've run a lot of laundry thru this washer over the past few weeks and everything comes out nicely clean. It's quiet - it does make some odd noises, though. The tub is cavernous, but the washer dimensions are smaller than my old top-load washer. Cons are the wash options and fill levels. Is a "Jeans" setting really necessary? I guess I'm old school and prefer to set my wash time, water temp, and fill level myself. Fill level - that one annoys me. While this washer actually uses adequate water to clean clothes, the super-size level fills the washer roughly 3/4 full which then washes a super-size load of clothes in a skimpy tub of water. Easy enough to adjust to, but an annoyance that one large load of laundry turns into two medium loads. No water/energy savings there. Considering the other options out there - ineffective agitatorless washers, smelly front load monsters - I'm happy with this one.

1 Star Review   By busymom on Home Depot - May 22, 2012

I had this machine for less than 1 week before it stared sounding like it was tearing itself apart.I spent Mother's day at the laundromat. When the repair man came out and opened the front panel while running the spin cycle you could see sparks shooting out.Turns out that the machine is balanced by a stone similar to landscape stone attached with a metal strap. Apparently it was incorrectly installed at the factory .You would think I would have been given a new machine given the fact that it has had a stone beating the tub ,but you would be wrong.I am still waiting on parts to be delivered to my house before they can repair the unit.Don't buy!!!!!!

The stainless steel tub is not all stainless
1 Star Review   By Gary on Home Depot - May 21, 2012

After about 2 years the quiet washer started making a strange noise. Had a service man come check it out and he pulled the agitator off to discover that the part of the tub under it was corroded and pieces were breaking off and getting in the pump. bottom line it was going to cost me more (new tub) than I paid for it new. Don't buy this thing if you think you are getting a completely stainless steel tub.

Great washer with many options.
4 Star Review   By manapata on Home Depot - May 15, 2012

Customer service was great. Washer installed and ready to run. Many options are great. Looks great and the stainless basket is large enough for many large towels and then some. Towels came out drip free after setting machine on extra spin. The only complaint is that during the wash cycle it makes a sort of chirping song. I am not used to this and it is a bit annoying. I am not sure if something needs adjusting or that is how it sounds through part of the wash cycle. Otherwise we are very pleased with the quality and price.

Beware of it eating your clothes
2 Star Review   By teddie on Home Depot - May 11, 2012

I purchased this washer after researching for about a week, it had all the features I desired and it also allowed you to select different levels of water, it's a fool tool. The largest load ONLY fills half full, these new washers ARE NOT like when we were girls! So your doing less clothes so your washing more, and it also takes longer, about 50 to 55 mins per load, longer if you use extra settings. I had this washer for almost 30 days, when it sucked up my Twin Mattress Pad up under the agitator, we had to have a service call, I got worried about this happening again, and upon further research this is a common problem with these agitators, now it's mostly cos of the lower water level, I've had agitator washers all my life and I've never in my 40 + yrs of doing laundry EVER seen a washer do this! Long story short, we returned the washer, picked out another washer without the agitator and we begin again! So we'll see.... Bad points here tho.... no washer level select, it let's you but it's false will only fill 1/2 full for a Super load, and I had this double checked by the tech that had to come out and undo the stuck mattress pad! If this is how their made now, stay away from the agitator types, I hope this helped!

Loved at first, a year later... Ka-poo-E
2 Star Review   By Deanna on Home Depot - May 9, 2012

This was an excellent Washer machine for the first year. You can do light and heavy loads of laundry. the options were a def for us. I mean, when you have laundry, you dont do 7 little loads, you do 4 big ones. And this Washer Machine could do it! However, after always heavy loads, im sure that it started to feel a bit warn down... And its been less than a year ive had this washer, and it started to leak all over my floor. WITH NO EXPLANATION. We checked the hose, we took the bottom apart to look inside... everything was dry. The washer machine leaks, and we have no idea where from. Well, long story short. There is no way to fix it. its Ka-poo-E!

Too Many problems and no Quality Control
1 Star Review   By MoValCustomer on Home Depot - May 2, 2012

I was looking for the old type (non HE) washer and found this GE, I was impressed by the size and price for the size and then the honeymoon was over. The first one delivered was refused because it was damaged, the two men were kind of ruff throwing it around trying to hurry through the delivery. The replacement came a few days later; the two men were more professional and took their time, which was great. I did my first load of blue jeans and they came out nice and clean and put them in the dryer. I noticed in the NEW washer something was stuck on the stainless steel wash tub, I reached in and scratched it with my finger nail, it is a crack in the stainless steel, 1 inch long and 1/8 inch wide, so I am calling on this. Then I put in a load of towels, during the spin cycle, it sounded like it was out of balance, so I waited a few more minutes before going to see what the noise was. THE AGTATOR CAME OFF!!! It chewed up the white plastic ring piece on top of the wash tub and ruined the softener dispenser. This was only the second load and as I write this, it hasn’t even been 24 hours in my laundry room. It’s going back, too many problems for a new washer. Never again will I buy GE.

Old Fashioned features I wanted
4 Star Review   By OldFashioned on Home Depot - Apr 28, 2012

I haven't had this machine long, but have already used quite a few different types of cycles as well as hot, warm and cold temps which all work well. I wanted an agitator, which is hard to find. I just didn't like the reviews of ones without it. I also wanted the option to choose my water level - again hard to find. This has both and is a good size tub. My clothes really are coming out softer. My one complaint is that even with choosing 'super' capacity, it only fills 3/4 full. That's a lot of tub without water. The agitator is plenty tall enough so I don't understand that. Because of that, you really can't fill the tub the way you might if you got a full water fill. It defeats the purpose of having gotten a 3.9 cu. ft. tub when you can't use it all. With this in mind, you have to make sure you don't overload clothes from 3/4 of the way down, not the entire tub. The picture shows the washer filled at 'super' capacity. Would this have made a difference in my purchase? Probably. But I was still having a hard time finding the old fashioned options I wanted, so it's a compromise I guess I'll have to get used to. One side note. I had to call customer service the day it was delivered for a minor problem. Not only did it take only about 30 seconds to reach a live person, but she was so responsive immediately AND got on the phone with GE at the same time I was on the phone. Before I hung up, the problem was taken care of. I would have to say this was the best customer service I can ever remember getting!

So Far So Good! Loving this machine.
5 Star Review   By Sandra on Home Depot - Apr 18, 2012

I was nervous about purchasing a new machine. I have never bought one before and the choices and the reviews were a little overwhelming. I love the large tub. I do less loads of laundry which saves me time and money. I love that you can choose the load size or you can let the machine automatically sense how much water is needed. I have used both features and am pleased with both. My clothes are so clean and they have never felt so soft before. I have to wonder how clean they were getting in my last machine. This is the quietest washing machine I've ever been around. It spins very fast, always seems balanced and barely makes a noise. I have tried the regular washing features as well as the extra soak, extra rinse, delicate cycle, etc and have been pleased with everything so far.
