Top load washer - Error Code 51

Strengths: very quiet, takes 1/2 the time to do laundry.

Weakness: Whirlpool doesn't stand behind their product when an issue comes up.

This turned out to be a big mistake on my part. I used this washer for 1 year and 30 days. I had been getting an error code 51 and thought that it was something that I was doing wrong. I tried to readjust the load and got the washer to work again. Then eventually the washer would lock and I couldn't get it open, then I finally called. Not realizing that it was over the 1 year mark. Now Whirlpool is not willing to warrenty the item. It is going to cost over $300 to solve this problem. Whirlpool is willing to sell me an extended warrenty for $300. How convient! After calling back to Whirlpool for the 3rd time, I asked to speak to someone that might be able to help me. Their answer was, "I'm sorry, there is no one else that you can talk to. You have reach the end of the escalation and your washer is out of warrent." So what they are saying is that we do not stand by our product but would love to take more of your money so we can fix and ongoing issue. If you look up Error Code 51 and Whirlpool, you will find several blogs about this. They have had several models with this same problem but didn't feel that this was one of those models. Well, I will make sure to tell all of my friends and family NOT to purchase a WHIRLPOOL appliance again. They do not stand behind thier product and do not give good customer service.

Worst machine ever!

Strengths: None

Weakness: Does not clean clothes - leaves residue as well as some clothes come out with dry spots.

We purchased this machine because it was advertised as high efficiency, low water washer. Right inside the user guide, it states ( in 2 or more places) that the washer automatically adjusts the water level to the load size. I thought, this will be great. However, that is a big lie. At first, we called a repair man because it appeared our clothes were not getting rinsed properly and some items, especially sheets, came out with dry spots. He told us there was nothing wrong with the machine, that the same amount of water was dispensed no matter how many clothes we put in or what cycle we used. He suggested using the 'extra rinse' cycle. Really! I have contacted Whirlpool who pretty much blew us off and told us to contact the store we purchased it from. Seems strange to me being as Whirlpool is the company that manufactured the machine. One of the people at Whirlpool did suggest that I use the 'bulky items' cycle. I asked him if that is what I had to do to get my clothes clean, why do they have all the other cycles? We also had no luck at the store we purchased it from, pretty much got the run around there as well.

This machine is terrible!!!

Strengths: Looks OK

Weakness: Not enough water to wash or rinse clothes! Large tub, but it can't be utilized because the water level is not determined by the size of the load.

Because of insufficient water, clothes are not washed or rinsed properly. White residue is left on dark items requiring 1, 2, or even 3 additional rinses. After multiple service calls (by 3 different companies), 3 control panels, letters to Whirlpool executives and others, the machine was swapped for the same model. When I had the same problem, I called the 3rd service company and the technician said he had never seen so little water in a machine. After his calls to the tech line, he was told the control panel on this model had been reprogrammed to introduce less water!!!!! Therefore, I'm told it's operating as designed. This is an extremely poor design, and it does not do the job!!!!!!!
