Excellent machine. Quiet, fast and efficient.
5 Star Review   By Astewart on Home Depot - May 28, 2013

This is a great unit for smaller spaces. It is very quiet, very efficient and the dryer drum is large which is great for heavier items like comforters. Serves our family of 4 well. Highly recommend.

This product has great features
5 Star Review   By Dick on Home Depot - May 15, 2013

Bought it in Feb installed it in March. Been using it for about 6 weeks. Works great. Only one thing that could be improved upon is that it does not have a buzzer when each cycle is done, including when dryer is done. That can't be too big a deal when being manufactured to put in a buzzer. Otherwise so far so good!

Washer broke within first year
1 Star Review   By Keeli on Home Depot - Apr 21, 2013

The machine had been working okay until a week ago. I had issues where it did not look like the washer thoroughly rinsed out the detergent, but it seemed to get the clothes clean. About a week ago the washer started malfunctioning. It would stay in the rinse cycle for an extended period of time with the lid locked and the machine did not stop when I turned the switch to the off position. I ended up having to unplug the machine to stop this. I had this happen a couple times before determined that this was a recurring problem. The only good thing about it breaking is that I am within the one year limited warranty (only one week away from having it a year!). Hoping that the repairs will be covered. The repairs are a whole other issue. I have found it hard to schedule service with GE. My appt has been rescheduled twice, so I am without a washer for over a week. The dryer works well and is still working; however, I have had a couple bottoms get caught in the lent catcher. One caught button came off and the other did not, resulting in a shirt that was twisted into a tight ball and is stretched and disfigured. Unfortunately there are not many options out there when it comes to unitized washer/dryer combos, but I don't know that I would recommend this one. I am a single person that had been using it for about a year, probably 3-4 loads every other week, so it is very disappointing to have it break so soon. Also extremely frustrating to try to get service. Looking back, I probably would have rented a unit to avoid all this hassle.

Large capacity
4 Star Review   By Matthew on Home Depot - Mar 19, 2013

An all-in-one unit is never my first choice because they're so expensive to replace, but this one seems to have good build quality and more capacity than the small units that tend to get overloaded. I only wish the depth on these units was slightly less.

Works fine but is loud!
3 Star Review   By Wheresmydryerknob on Home Depot - Mar 13, 2013

The spacemaker fits well into a reletivly small area. The design is simple enough and easy to use. The washing machine sounds like a cement mixer when you have a small load in it. The machine had a broken dryer knob upon arrival which, 4 weeks later, still has not been replaced so we effectively have no dryer as yet. hence the average rating.

A whole lot of laundry in a very small closet!
5 Star Review   By MiamiCondoOwner2013 on Home Depot - Feb 17, 2013

I bought a 2BR condo and didn't notice that the 24"-wide existing stacking W/D, 15 years old and no longer produced, could barely wash two sheets at the same time. I needed more, and in any case the old one was likely to die on me at some time in the future, given its age. My contractor removed the existing wall between the W/D closet and the A/C closet and replaced it with something a lot slimmer. Even then, with the unit torn out and the new partition, I had a roughly 31" x 31" closet in which to fit a new W/D. (Bear in mind, you need space behind the machine for the vents and faucets). I looked at every stacking W/D available, and this was the only one that fit. How lucky am I? I love this W/D. Great programs from hard-core hot-water scrubbing to a really gentle delicate cycle, auto-sensing load size, very quiet except in spin mode (and even then, relatively quiet), and does the job quickly.

Space saving but still large capacity
5 Star Review   By Bern on Home Depot - Jan 19, 2013

Amazed at the size of the washloads this can handle. Very economical to run. Only drawback: I'm used to a frontloading washer, tossing clothes in, filling detergent and bleach reservoirs and walking away after pushing the buttons. This one recommends filling with water/detergent first for best results. The only other thing I miss: an alarm when the wash/dryer cycle is complete!

Good Machine Installation problems
4 Star Review   By BeeBee on Home Depot - Dec 30, 2012

I read all the reviews. No problems with the buttons getting stuck in the dryer, no problems with cloths wadding in the washer. Not sure it cleans as well as my old side by side. Mahor problems with installation. The installers had to do it by their companies specs, which left me with the machine sticking 3 inches out into my dining room. I had to hire a handyman to install it per the instruction manual and to level it it out.

GREAT WASHER & DRYER...
4 Star Review   By kimba on Home Depot - Oct 23, 2012

This stackable washer & dryer has a normal (not small) capacity and it does an excellent job washing and drying in an adequate amount of time. Great space saver with full size load benefits! Did not encounter any issues with dryer tearing off buttons, etc...as described in previous reviews.

Horrible Appliance
1 Star Review   By EDP48 on Home Depot - Oct 20, 2012

This unit has a horrible spin cycle and stopped working after 6 months. The washing machine is extremely loud and noisy. I've had a technician out 3 times and the spin cycle still does not work. Customer service and technicians are both less than satisfactory. I need to replace this machine with an entirely different make and model, and it's still under warranty. Stay far away from this appliance!

5 Stars
5 Star Review   By Thomas on Home Depot - Oct 16, 2012

The delivery men were professional and efficient. I had to bring in a plumber to replace on of the valves so they had to bring the washer back to the warehouse and deliver it a second time. The washer was actually larger than the one that it replaced. The delivery man had to squirm out sideways after installing it.

Very Disappointed
1 Star Review

Strengths: Price

Weakness: Just poor quality

Unfortunately when you have limited space you have limited choices. Without a doubt this product represents all that is wrong with US manufacturing. I'm just amazed Lowes would carry such an inferior product. It's a very noisy unit which I can live with. The unit lasted a whole 4 months before it had major issues. They found the drum is defective and needs to be replace. Practically shaking the unit apart. The design of the lint tray has a lip that gets caught by the wash every time and the softener holder keeps popping off during wash cycles. The most troubling problem is that clothes get thrown over the drum and wind up inside the machine. You have to check constantly that clothes aren't piling up inside. Can someone say fire hazard. Disturbing enough that I am notifying the fed agency in charge of product safety.

Inferior Product
1 Star Review   By Washerwife on Home Depot - Oct 1, 2012

When the unit was delivered the dryer did not work. The delivery men stated that it was the third unit delivered that day with an inoperable dryer. I waited for a new unit on back order. Now, three months later the dryer stopped working. Obviously there is a Quality Control issue in the GE factory. I will not buy another GE product and I would not recommend this product.

We Will Wait & See
1 Star Review   By POed on Home Depot - Aug 23, 2012

My second machine arrived today. Last week when the delivery man went to attach the cord to the dryer there was nothing to attach it to! The washer part was fine but the dryer part was just a steel case. There were no dryer parts except for the drum. It is too early for a review on the second machine.

Great Purchase
5 Star Review   By Sunshine on Home Depot - Aug 2, 2012

I purchased my stackable in April, 2012. Have not had any major concerns. The knob on the dryer was replaced about a month ago. Other that that I wash towels and sheets on a regular basis and have not had to worry about the size of the loads. Easy to operate, must say great buy - would highly recommend for a small space.

Worst ever
1 Star Review   By Kristi on Home Depot - Jun 12, 2012

This machine came "free" with my new home purchase and I have regretted not taking the credit instead every day since. Not even six months old and I've already had the repair guy out twice. It has torn up clothes, ratted up brand new towels, and torn of strings...and that's when it decides to work. The washing machine is ridiculously small and makes horrific noises if I try to wash more than 4 towels at a time. It frequently goes off balance and the other day, it got stuck on the rinse cycle for over an hour and a half. Most of the time I feel like I need to sit next to it while it washes just to make sure nothing is going to happen. Even though the warranty is 1 year, I will be getting rid of this piece of junk as soon as possible.

This product has exceeded my expectations
5 Star Review   By funguy1010 on Home Depot - Jun 5, 2012

The GE washer/dryer works as well as any washer/dryer I have owned. It is the size of a regular washer/dryer just stacked. It does an excellent job washing and drying all my towels, sheets and clothes. Fabric dispenser and bleach dispenser are easy to use.Put detergent in before clothes or use liquid. For a stackable appliance I have to say it has exceeded my expectations. The dryer works fine and I am pleased with this purchase.

Great dissatisfaction
1 Star Review   By Knight on Home Depot - Jun 4, 2012

Holes in the lint filter are big. Buttons and strings are constantly being caught and ripped from clothing. Very poor design. I didn't pay this kind of money to have clothing destroyed. Until this defect is fixed, I would not reccomend this product.

Paid for delivery, install and haul away. They delivered and told my maintenance person that they would not install because old one was not removed. I was not informed that the old one was to be disconnected for them to install and haul away. So clearly I paid money for a service we did not get.

Bad GE Experience - Lost me as a future customer
3 Star Review   By Chicago on Home Depot - May 1, 2012

When I received my unit, it was broken. While the experience with Home Depot was ok, the experience with GE to get my appliance fixed was not. I had to take a total of 5 days off work to get the appliance fixed. On my first call to the GE CS center, they told me the “clicking noises” were normal and the unit was "heating up" - I didn’t buy it so I asked them to send a service technician out. The drum was broke. They shipped a new one. In short, the service technician didn’t show up on the scheduled day. The second time he showed but said per “GE standards” they needed two people there to install the drum. I scheduled another day off. The technician was to be there between the window of 1-5pm. They showed at 6:15pm on a Friday and left about 8:05. I’ve spent hours on the line with GE regarding a weeks’ vacation off work over a washer/dryer unit. They credited me $92. Sitting at home for a 5 days earned me $2.30/hour. Pitiful. Way to lose a customer GE.

What a Piece of Junk
1 Star Review   By shopgirlnj on Home Depot - May 1, 2012

This is by far the worst machine I've owned. It is loaded with sensors so between all the clicking and buzzing it sounds like it will break any day and I wouldn't be happier.Very cheaply made in every respect. The spin cycle is so loud I expect my neighbors to complain. Please break, please!

Not a good experience
1 Star Review   By dave on Home Depot - Apr 18, 2012

The machine arrived with the knobs broken off the controls. New ones were ordered but when we installed them the controller for the dryer was displaced and caused the dryer switch to short out. The service tech was called and he replaced the switch but not the fuse which was also blown when the short occurred. He refused to replace the fuse and told me to find one from the hardware store in town. They were not available in the correct model so we continued to have a non-functional unit. Seems there is no one who carries GE parts in stock. We live in a 1.5 million plus town so that is surprising. This has been and continues to be a bad experience.

The washer is very efficient and the aggitation is gentle on clothes. This is the best washer I have had in years! The dryer is also gentle and efficient with minimal wrinkling. Good Capacity, Sturdy Functional Unit
4 Star Review   By Bill on Home Depot - Mar 13, 2012

This unit appears well-made and durable. The location of the controls is particularly good for shorter persons and they are straightforward to understand and operate. The washer cycle is not the quietest I have experienced, but it is not at all loud. The spin cycle balance is good and only the smallest vibration is felt when standing near the machine during spin dry. Good size washer drum volume for an integrated unit and very adequate dryer volume. The installation technical instructions are clear, but there is an error in the diagram that shows the rough-in location of the dryer vent outlet. It is in the center of the unit, not to the side as the diagram shows.

Great for tight spaces
4 Star Review   By ATX001 on Home Depot - Feb 9, 2012

I bought this unit for my garage apartment. It fits great in small spaces. It is much quieter than the previous stackable unit I owned. It's not energy efficient. I think because the top loading washers use more water. It's nice to have the controls at eye-level. I noticed some units have the controls at the top of the unit. It is nicely designed and works well.

Dryer control knob stopped working after one month of use.
3 Star Review   By darr on Home Depot - Jan 14, 2012

I have had three of these unitized washer dryers. The other two lasted for years without problems. I hope this will be the only time it needs repair and lasts years before being replaced.

Good Features but the dryer interior is poorly designed and rips off buttons and hooks
1 Star Review   By nz423 on Home Depot - Dec 14, 2011

There is a design flaw in the dryer. Buttons and hooks are ripped off in almost every load. If you enjoy constant mending and replacing clothes that are ruined, this would be the machine for you.

Bummmer
1 Star Review   By Mels on Home Depot - Dec 13, 2011

Let me mention. Once again they are right and I am wrong( GE) that is...My "fast" agitator ran slooooooooow; strings on my pants got very twisted; and a "full" size washer doesn't mean doing a "full" load(according to GE, I have to do a number of small loads instead). In other words, I will invest my money elsewhere.

Great Size and features
4 Star Review   By NMEAS on Home Depot - Dec 6, 2011

So far so great with this 2 in 1 unit - the delivery team was fantastic, and even got it up and running for me. The washer fits a good size load easily, as does the drier. Both seem to be relatively quiet and balanced well. Good range of settings and variable features to choose from. Very happy overall, and no issues to speak of. Plus it fits well in my apartment.

The worst machine -- and service -- ever
1 Star Review   By Furious on Home Depot - Nov 27, 2011

I bought an earlier version of this machine, the WSM2700 Electric - 18 months ago. Terrible. First, it feeds cold water into the hot cycle on the assumption your local hot water is too hot. If your local water is set a bit lower, there is no way to adjust the cold input setting. As a result, the machine will not provide more than tepid water, even on the hot cycle. We have been filling hot loads from a hose to the bathtub from day one. When I immediately complained to GE, they simply said "buyers remorse" you are stuck with it. For the past year-plus, the machine has done a poor job of cleaning, Both the washer and dryer are hard on clothes and, as everyone points out, the lint trap is extremely poor. Finally, after only 18 months of ordinary use (this is a two person family) the drum split open, spilling gallons of water. The machine is now a piece of junk (it always was a piece of junk but now that is "official") and must be replaced at full cost. I won't even consider replacing this machine with anything made by GE. Worst machine of any kind I have ever purchased and the worst service as well.

Love it!
5 Star Review   By Kathryn on Home Depot - Nov 14, 2011

We purchased this to replace an older stackable machine. This machine is much larger and so quiet. We love the capacity and it drys the clothes quickly and you hardly hear the machine running (unless you have a noisy zipper or something in the dryer). In short, we could not be happier and have had zero problems.

Heads up... destroys clothes!
1 Star Review   By Swag on Home Depot - Nov 5, 2011

Be careful with this unit. While the washer is great and the dryer works fine on the surface, the dryer will destroy anything with buttons, drawstrings, and zippers. It seems there is a design flaw with the lint filter. Buttons, zippers, and strings get stuck in there and twisted until they rip off. Hopefully GE will redesign this part. Our unit was delivered in 8/2011, so specifically ask if they have changed/improved this since then. Otherwise the unit is pretty good. We are in the process of get this replaced/repaired. Home Depot and GE so far both seem quite receptive to helping with this problem, but I will keep this a 1-star review until is it fixed.

Better than I expected!
5 Star Review   By tldk1 on Home Depot - Sep 27, 2011

I was not excited to get a stackable because all the ones I had seen were so small it looked like no more that 3 towels could fit inside the washer but our new apartment is not large and did not allow for our regular sized washer and dryer. I was so surprised the first time I looked in the washer. It is very close to the size of my old super capacity and so far I have had no trouble doing my regular loads of laundry.

Great unit... would buy it again!
5 Star Review   By HappyWasherWoman on Home Depot - Sep 9, 2011

This has been a great purchase. There are not many models out there that will fit in my small laundry space. This unit fits and works great! And I really love the rerinse options. Worth every penny! I had an older version of this unit that just died after 15 years. This new version is larger and I am really happy with it. On a side note, it makes lots of strange noises. But I have gotten used to them now.

Great for my small laundry room!
5 Star Review   By Valerie on Home Depot - Sep 8, 2011

This has all the features of a much larger unit and is energy efficient. My clothes are washed quickly and come out perfectly clean. The dryer is fast and my clothes come out fluffy and mostly wrinkle-free What a great value. By using these stacked appliances, I have lots of storage roomleft for shelves, vacuum, mops, and cleaning products

Brand new Washer doesn't work!! Dryer is fine!
1 Star Review   By NoWasher on Home Depot - Sep 8, 2011

Too bad you can't get a brand new washer that works! Had a choice of either refusing shipment after it was installed and realized it has a problem, or call a few local repair people to come and take a look at the problem and hopefully fix under warranty....not impressed.

Initial quality appears to be top notch
5 Star Review   By bb0567 on Home Depot - Aug 25, 2011

When a manufacturer only makes one or two models of a certain product they usually attempt to get it right. It appears GE has done this with their stackable unit, and I am sure the same goes for their unititized version. Measure your space a number of times, before deciding on the unitized (smaller) version over the full size stackable. The full size is great, and it fit in our space just fine. The dryer is cavernous, and is large enough to dry comforters with no problem. Overall, this is a great product that will likely last many years without maintenance issues. Also, consider this is the unit that many apartment buildings use as they know they will survive a lot of abuse.

Great Space Saver washer dryer
5 Star Review   By ManhattanMom on Home Depot - Aug 25, 2011

Our apartment in Manhattan has a "closet" that a stackable washer dryer fits into. It needed to have exact specifications for width and depth, as well as being electric (as opposed to gas). This combo fit the criteria perfectly. Also I am short and I liked that the controls were in the middle (some of the other combos have the controls at the very top, hard for me to reach / see). It runs well and it does the job. Home Depot used Home Delivery America to deliver the washer. They gave me a 4 hour time frame the day before and came exactly when they said they would. They also kindly carted away the other washer/dryer. My maintenance man installed the machine. There is a cord that you have to purchase separately (~$20) and it comes in the option of "3 prong" or "4 prong". I called Home Depot to ask which I should buy and they said most places use 3 prong. (I really should have asked my maintenance man which one). When they got there and saw that it was 4 prong, they conveniently brought with them a 4 prong cord, which I purchased on the spot. They then took back the 3 prong cord and I received a credit. I am happy with Home Depot and their delivery service. I would use both again.

BEWARE, dryer eats/destroys buttons, eats drawstrings on pants
1 Star Review   By Katyreviewer on Home Depot - Aug 19, 2011

beware of the waffle plastic design on the dryer lint screen, it eats buttons on shirts by ripping out the core. It grabs hold of and twists drawstrings on clothing until it breaks. Something wrong with the design, don't buy until GE addresses problem.
