Horrible product
2 Star Review   By shopperforlife on Home Depot - Sep 20, 2009

I give the vacuum two stars, one for the ability to pick up dog hair and one for the removable canister. Everything else is awful. FIrst, the black front bumper left black marks on all my white baseboards. Second, each time you remove the dirt canister to empty the dust/dirt/hair goes everywhere. There are so many terrible things to list and I don't have all day but probably the worst part is that I paid $179 for this vacuum only one year ago and it now has stopped working.

Great machine
5 Star Review   By vickierenae on Home Depot - Aug 3, 2009

We have three long-hair dogs who shed year around. Until now, I have not had a vacuum that actually pulled the hair off the floor. I have a throw rug by my front door and had forgot what color it was until I used this vacuum. My old vacuum did not have the suction or the bristles to clean the rug' fibers. You can really feel the power of the machine with the brushes are engaged. The attachments are easy to use. Overall, it works well in my busy household. I would highly recommend this machine to anyone with pets.

AWESOME for all kinds of pet hair
5 Star Review   By member entropybaby - Apr 22, 2009

Strengths: Suction and ease of maintenance

Weakness: short hose

I LOVE this vacuum! That said, it's the first nice vacuum I've ever owned and I'm sure an elephant could've done a better job than the old one. HOWEVER- When my perma-shedding Husky/Shepherd mix decided that she needed a St. Bernard friend, I was wondering how this bad boy could keep up with the daily abuse. The answer is wonderfully. Super easy empty functions, you can wash 2 of the three filters, and it goes from my hardwoods to tile to rugs with ease. The other reviews are pretty spot on. The detachable canister is neato and I love the turbo brush- it does a fantastic job on our microfiber couch. I was leery of buying the Bissell at first (not sure why), but I would buy this vacuum again in a heartbeat. I get little silly shivers of excitement watching it dig up all the hair out of the rugs in one sweep! The only gripe I have is that the hose is a tad short and there's not really a good stair attachment that fits on board. But, I plan to buy the Shed Away attachments now that I'm confident it can handle the volume of hair. PS_ I've noticed a huge difference in my allergy discomfort since purchasing it- I'm not half as miserable as I used to be.

Love this Vacuum!
5 Star Review   By Donna on Home Depot - Mar 17, 2009

This vacuum picks up whatever my dog decides to leave behind whether it be shredded stuffed toys or her constant shedding hair. My other vacuum didn't come close to to the power of this one. The lift of feature makes it so easy to vacuum the comforter and the stairs. If you have pets, this is the vacuum to get!

Decent vacuum for the price
3 Star Review   By member crazyzete - Apr 27, 2008

Strengths: Removeable canister, decent suction.

Weakness: No tool for cleaning stairs, non-cyclonic (washable dirt filter clogs often), short hose, awkward pet brush.

This vacuum is decent for the price. With 30% off at Kohl's, picked it up for $120. Compared to my 10 yr old Eureka, this does the job. However, I was displeased with a few things. The tools that come with this are small and cheap, and there is no tool to really clean the stairs. If you try to use the vacuum itself on a stair case, as you hold it close to upright the brush shuts off. Taking off the canister is fine, however, the hose is short. Using the telescoping wand, it doesn't lock in too well, so if you push too hard when trying to clean stairs, it collapses. Also, the pet brush is too much suction for the stairs and because of the awkward rubber on it (I think to lift pet hair), it doesn't roll smoothly. My black office chair is always full of orange pet hair, and it didn't really do a good job of sucking it up. I like that the canister comes off. It makes it easyer to carry upstairs and just to bring if you have a little bit of dirt to pick up. I would have liked a longer hoose, and the hose is thin, so it may deteriorate quickly. There is a washable sponge filter, but it seems to clog often. Sometimes dirt gets stuck between it and hte dirt cup, so when you remove the dirt cup, dirt falls down out of the vacuum, or you have to stick your hand up there to clean it out. Overall, not bad for the price - but all things being considered, I probably would have looked for a different vac.

Bissell Lift-Off Revolution vacuum
4 Star Review   By member RobynM73 - Feb 18, 2008

Strengths: Suction! Ability to turn the rolling brush on & off.

Weakness: Weight. This vacuum is heavy, but play with the carpet height adjustment for easier use.

Wow. I had a Eureka, but found that it could not keep up with the new puppy's debris. I also have a German Shepherd and both dogs are the types that shed. Although, I've had this vacuum for two days, I've had to use it four times already. The puppy tracks in grass & then runs & hides behind the couch. This vacuum has an attachment that makes it much easier to vacuum in tight, confined spaces. I also used it on my tile and wood floor and liked the fact that the roller brush turns off. My son removed the canister from the vacuum's body and was able to slid under my bed to vacuum the dog hair at the bottom of the headboard. He thinks this is a cool vacuum.

Great Vacuum Deal
5 Star Review   By member HoyleB - Oct 23, 2007

Strengths: Sucks powerfully and well. Attachments are handy and easy to use.

Weakness: A bit heavy.

This vacuum seems to be an excellent bargain for the price. There are of course many pricer models, but for around $150 on sale, this is an excellent deal. The detachable unit is quite handy.

Great vacuum
5 Star Review   By member JJNEnterprises - Oct 6, 2007

Strengths: Light weight, rolls easily, easy-empty debris can, multiple filters.

Weakness: Debris can is somewhat small, but this is dependent on how dirty the surface you are cleaning is(!).

We bought this the other day after doing some research and in-store comparison tests - tests that INCLUDED dirty carpet/real-world vacuuming. We had planned to purchase the Hoover Deluxe Elite (the red one), but bought this Bissell instead, because of: *The power head/brush has a separate switch and can be turned off. This is important when vacuuming hard floors, as the power head has a tendency to just blow the dirt away from you, and not pick it up - this is what the Hoover did. This Bissell allows you to turn off the power head but leave the suction on and pick up all the dirt. *When the handle is locked upright, the power head shuts off automatically. This is useful when you want to stop for a moment and use the hose to clean furniture - the spinning roller won't burn your carpet. Many other vacuums don't have this great feature. *Multiple filters. One pre-motor filter, one debris can filter, and one post-motor/exhaust HEPA filter. Of the three, only the HEPA filter is non-cleanable and must be replaced; the other two can be easily cleaned and will only need replacing when worn out. After cleaning our house twice, only the debris can filter has dirt on it - the other two are spotless. *Replacement parts/service. No problems here. Parts are readily available, unlike the Hoover we considered. *Detachable canister! One simple latch, and the canister pops off easily so you can clean furniture, stairs, etc. A great feature. I'll admit, I wasn't keen on the idea of a detachable canister at first, but after doing side-by-side comparisons in the store, this unit was overall a much better vacuum than any other model we looked at in this price range. It is quieter than our old upright, and the bagless debris can is easy to use. Five stars!
