Excellent grill, but in-store version has no thermometer while on-line does.
3 Star Review   By Zeta2 on Home Depot - Nov 24, 2012

The One Touch Gold is an excellent grill and has a lot of features other char grills to not, especially the flip up wings on the cooking grate to adjust the fuel. Weber specs the OTG with a thermometer in the lid, however be aware the in-store version does not have a thermometer in the lid while the on-line version does for the same number of bills. Anywhere else and the One Touch Gold comes with thermometer. Not important for top-off grilling of steaks, but is mandatory if you are using indirect heat with top-on recipes.

I love this grill
5 Star Review   By RLM1963 on Home Depot - Nov 20, 2012

I bought this due to a storm that damaged my weber gas grill. Not wanting to spend $1000 on another gas grill at the time I thought I'd buy a charcoal grill to play with. I love it, I've used it to smoke meats, do steaks over oak wood, and even doing pizza on it. I don't think I'll ever go back to gas. Weber products are simple the best.

Fantastic Grill
5 Star Review   By azkamper on Home Depot - Sep 18, 2012

After my old gas grill bit the dust, I couldn't find a new gas grill that suited me; either they were too expensive or too cheaply built. So after years of cooking on gas grills, I thought I'd go back to the basics and get a charcoal grill... WOW... Why did I wait so long? This grill was so easy to put together and I have no trouble moving it from its 'parking place' to where I actually grill. The cooking area holds a lot of food and it's easy to manage partly because the lid hooks on the edge of the grill. Adjusting the temperature is really easy too. Just move the coarcoal under the food for a hot fire or over to the side for cooler heat. Free shipping was a nice bonus too.

Good buy
5 Star Review   By BuffPearson on Home Depot - Sep 17, 2012

Fairy easy to assemble. (15mins) Quality of the grill and hood are heavy duty. The frame and wheels are not of what I expected of Weber quality. Easy to move and lightweight. The hood will hang from the side of the grill, which is convient. Attractive to say the least. Cooked everything from meat to vegies. The hood is a great designed and is reconmended for cooking. Overall, no problems.

It's a Weber. Enough said.
5 Star Review   By RogerC on Home Depot - Aug 28, 2012

This is my second Weber grill. After many years of excellent service my previous Weber finally needed Replacing. I did upgrade to the model with the ash catcher. It's a really nice feature. I also like the change from the wood handles. Other than that, it's the same grill I've used for more than a decade. My old one survived falling out of the back of my truck. I'm hoping not to repeat that. But that proves how well they're built.

Great size for family of four
5 Star Review   By wlgsegr on Home Depot - Aug 28, 2012

Bought this to BBQ on natural coals plus wood smoke. Grill is big enough for three large T-bones to sear on one half of the grill, then move then over to convection cook on the other half with lid on. Convenience ash basket works well, overall I am very pleased

This Grill? Meh.
3 Star Review   By Messenger on Home Depot - Aug 21, 2012

I have no issue with Home Depot on this review. The same grill is the same price everywhere-- and I trust Home Depot's Web site. I like the look of this grill and used these reviews to help me decide on making this purchase. I was disappointed that it took UPS longer to deliver that stated... even when I paid to have this shipped faster. The real drama came in putting this together. There are no written instructions-- just illustrations of what piece goes where. Simple enough until you get to the metal cylinder that connects the ash holder to the grill. This thing is a NIGHTMARE to get on without bending and darn near destroying the cylinder. 30 minutes and two college-educated adults who are adept at assembly later-- and we got it on. But JEEZ! Come on Weber! Let's just say that if I had ANY idea how difficult this was to assemble... I would have bought the model without the ash catcher.

Great product well worth the money !!
5 Star Review   By crazy88 on Home Depot - Aug 7, 2012

Weber makes a great grill, I did a lot of online research before I made my decision and am very happy with what I now have. I was going to get the performer with the gas ignition but I just decided to use my old propane grill to start my coals and save myself a few bucks. The way the grill cooks is fantastic, the only thing I would recommend is make sure you are using a decent quality lump charcoal. If you try using a briquette you may not get enough heat to get a good sear .

Simply the Best!
5 Star Review   By Rockjeeper on Home Depot - Aug 7, 2012

This grill is by far and away the best one I've ever owned. I'm glad I paid a little extra to get the ash dump pan on the bottom. It will go several cookouts without dumping. This grill is a great charcoal saver. As soon as I finish cooking I close the top and bottom vent which shuts off the oxygen and extinguishes the fire. To grill again I just add about 8 to 10 briquettes to the old ones. This makes all of them start a lot quicker.

5 Star Review   By westcoaster20 on Home Depot - Jul 24, 2012

I am so glad that I dumped the old gas grill and got this great charcoal grill. It is small but big enough to grill plenty of food, lightweight and easy to move but sturdy and made of quality metal, simple to operate and clean. I LOVE IT! Yesterday I grilled burgers, chicken breasts, and a couple of fish fillets and the coals were still hot enough to grill some fruit and smores for dessert!! Fantastic!

5 Star Review   By Hohum47 on Home Depot - Jul 22, 2012

Over the years we've owned a lot of cheapies. Had this Weber for over 20 years! It is fantastic, actually burned out the charcoal grate, replaced it and it's still going strong. Buy the best and forget the rest.

Love our Weber Gold!
5 Star Review   By kihnpch on Home Depot - Jul 10, 2012

We bought our 1st Weber 22.5" Gold & love, love it. Grate is large enough to hold entire rack of ribs & the sides raise so you can add additional coals for slow cooking. The charcoal holders are a great invention. We're grilling almost every night now. I thought the cover would be more heavy duty though & hope it lasts more than 1 season

5 Star Review   By Dave on Home Depot - May 22, 2012

Weber is the best and long lasting. This is only our third Weber in over 30 years and we probably average grilling twice a month year around I have seen people buy other charcoal grills and they are lucky to get two years out of them.

Great Features - Good Fit for Avid Griller
4 Star Review   By Garys1 on Home Depot - May 22, 2012

I bought this as a wedding gift for my husband - replacing his old grill that was lost in the line of duty (coals ablaze but before the meat was on the grill). Our teenage son assembled it easily. My husband has been elated with the features and the grill "earned" its spot on the deck. All the specs are reliable and the features are just as good as advertised.

Gold level grilling
4 Star Review   By RAGs on Home Depot - Apr 10, 2012

Installation was very easy. It took no longer than 30 minutes from the time I opened the box until it was ready to fire up. Grilling on charcoal has some additional challanges. Heat distribion is different than the propane grill I replaced. The lack of a work surface is a negative.

3 Star Review   By Rick on Home Depot - Sep 8, 2011

All peices were included, the lid had dents in two spots and the metal exposed where the dents were. Carton was intact with no signs of visible damage. Quality issue i believe. I'm not a nit-picker so i'll live with it, but i would never have expected that from the Webber Brand.

BIG BAD BOY
5 Star Review   By Grammy1953 on Home Depot - Jun 14, 2010

I purchased this model because I really love the taste of Charcoal grilling and wanted a nice BBQ for my deck that wouldn't harm my expensive decking material. I didn't realize how big this grill was going to be. This is big enough for a family of 6. It is a great size for entertaining. I didn't have too much trouble putting this together in my living room. I do recommend that you read the booklet that comes with it. I learned a lot about grilling that I did not know and I have been cooking for almost 50 years. I would also recommend buying the outside cover and the tool holder. A good quality oven mitt or Ov Glove is a must have when using this grill. I cooked some premium steaks on it last night and they were heaven. I thought this grill was a bit pricey until I saw the actual quality of the product. I know think it was worth every penny. The ash catcher is worth it's weight in gold, I love this feature for safety and easy of clean up. If you love good old fashion charcoal BBQ...this is the model to get.

I own this grill now for 3 years and the only thing I have to replace every 6-8 months is the grid. Got rusty after a while. I would like to have a stainless steel grid. That would be the perfect combo. I really like this grill. Good quality.

Stupendous Grill
5 Star Review   By GrandmaB1954 on Home Depot - Jan 2, 2010

We owned the Weber One-Touch Gold 22.5 In. Black Charcoal Kettle Grill for over 7 years and used it 3 to 5 times a week all year round until it completely wore out. We immediately bought another one identical to the one that wore out because we prefer it over other grills. This grill withstands the weather very well. It doesn't immediately get rusty as other brands of grills do. The wheels makes it very easy to move the grill from one location to another. To us, food tastes so much better when cooked on a charcoal grill rather than on a gas or electric grill. When food is cooked on this grill, the food cooks completely and evenly. When we cooked food on the charcoal grills we owned prior to buying our Weber kettle grill, steaks or chicken were over-cooked in one spot, under-cooked in another spot. The grate on this grill is hinged so we can add more charcoal when needed without trying to completely remove the hot grill, and when the coals are gone, the ashes fall into the ash catcher located below the kettle which makes this grill very easy to clean. To clean this grill, Just pour the ashes from the ash catcher into a container to dispose of them. We empty the ashes into an empty coffee can then bury the ashes in our garden. When this grill wears out, we'll undoubtedly buy our 3rd Weber Kettle Grill. Having 17 children and 9 grandchildren who visit us frequently each summer, we definitely get our money worth out of this grill.

This product is WONDERFUL!! I love it. The kettle on the bottom is great for keep the mess to a minimum! We grill all year around, probably not every weekend but at least a couple times a month and this is definitely the way to go! Charcoal is the best!

An Excellent, Old-school Grill!
5 Star Review   By member Lowballer - Jun 23, 2008

Strengths: Design, durability, ash catcher

Weakness: None so far

This is the only grill I remember my father cooking on when I was a kid. When deciding between the fancy $400 Weber Genesis gas grill and this one, it was the taste of the food over charcoal that won. It's easier to clean with the ash catcher. Be sure to get the Charcoal chimney accessory; it gets your coals ready in 10-15 minutes. Also, setup was simple, less than 10 minutes. You can't go wrong with this classic!

You will never regret buying Quality
5 Star Review   By PapawJeff on Home Depot - Jun 4, 2008

I have had many grills over the years and absolutly love to cook on them year round! I am not a weekend here and there hamburger and weiner cook, but more of a well heck if ya can cook it, lets do it on the grill kinda guy. And the Weber is my favorite. This iconic classic is great and is such a great cooking tool. And Webers customer service is fantastic. Our grill was chipped right out of the box and the bottom and to had been compacted out of round during shipping so they sent me a new bowl and lid and I had it in three days. Grill, BBQ, smoke or bake this one does it all and does it all well and will for years. It has a 10 year warrenty on the body of the grill and two years on the rest. Go ahead Buy a Weber, you will not be sorry!!!

they have it in stock!
5 Star Review   By v84lnch on Home Depot - Apr 27, 2008

they list it online as an "online only" item. i went to my local location, and they had it on the shelf! i quickly snagged this up, after several friends rave about their webers. i have a chargriller/smoker which i have been putting to double duty as a bbq too. so this is my first true "bbq". this kettle is great! the one touch system is fabulous! the ash container holds enough ash for about 4 cooks. very simple to remove/empty. it also doubles as your damper, and allows perfect temperature control. i would recommend this to anyone looking for a bbq at a price level under $200. the only thing i wish it had, was a thermometer. when you slow cook (225-240*) it's tough to tell by the "hand technique". i remedied this by picking up a thermometer at home depot for ~$8 and drilling a hole in the lid. works perfect! if you're looking for a bbq even at a higher cost than this unit, pick this one up! tons of room, and easy to look like a pro!

Very Happy
4 Star Review   By member Shuellmi - May 2, 2007

Strengths: Easy to use ashcatcher, much bigger than I thought.

Weakness: bigger than I need, removable lid

I purchased only purchased this grill because of a pricing mistake on their end. A normally $150ish grill was marked for $90. It's the first Weber grill I've had, so I can't attest to its durability, but it seems pretty well built. My only complaint is it is really annoying to either set the lid on the ground or hold it in one hand while tending to food on the grill.

Weber is the best!
5 Star Review   By member mweiss1 - Nov 25, 2006

Strengths: Well-built. Ash catcher is great feature. Folding grill. Easy to use and reliable.

Weakness: None identified yet.

I previously owned a Weber charcoal grill that lasted nearly 25 years, even though I left it outdoors year-round. When it finally rusted out, I had no doubt about what brand I would buy to replace it. I purchased the One-Touch Gold after much research and reading many on-line reviews. The new Weber seems to be built to the same standards as my old one, but has a number of new features that raises the bar, such as the ash catcher and the folding grill. I have used several times and am very pleased with the Weber quality. I only hope that this one lasts as long as the last one did.

Happy customer
5 Star Review   By NJSK on Home Depot - Oct 16, 2006

This is my first grill and I love it. The ash-catcher is super, charcoal burns fast, cooks evenly. I was recommended by a friend who had trailer grill. When ever I use this grill I thank him.

A classic grill with the works
5 Star Review

Strengths: Simple design that is easy to assemble. Cooks well and makes efficient use of less charcoal.

Weakness: The built-in lid storage hook is a bit small and makes it a bit harder to hang on the side of the grill.

This is a beautiful sample of American enginuity taken to another level. I use less charcoal than my old grill. It cooks evenly and has a nice grill top that is hinged at the corner to allow access to the bottom while cooking. It has lots of practical accessories and I needed no tools to assemble it. I got the blue one.

ash catcher problems
4 Star Review

Strengths: weber customer service

Weakness: ash catcher and ash catcher assembly becomes easly detached and needs replacing after a couple of years . the ash catcher ring will snap

its a great charcoal grill needs a stronger ash cather ring that wont snap from regular use. otherwise no complaints . if you like charcoal barbecue this model or one similar to it is the way to go

What can you say??.....It's a WEBER!!
4 Star Review   By heldhostage on Home Depot - May 13, 2006

The quality is amazing....no junky tin lizzie barbeque.....The majority of the assembly is DONE for you!!....My 12 yr old daughter and I assembled it in less than 40 min.....(one less thing on the honey-do list!!)....This is our first Weber, and we're hooked!!...The wheels are a bit crappy, and it would be nice if they included a bracket to hold the lid when you open it, but other than that, a GREAT GRILL!!!

See what you've been missing
4 Star Review   By member jimmygags - Mar 1, 2006

Strengths: Easy assembly, ash catcher a big plus as is the hinged grate.

Weakness: Legs made of plastic and don't seem as sturdy as it could be.

I have a Weber gas grill and got this through a good deal on Amazon. If you haven't used a charcoal grill in a long time, you probably forgot just how good burgers and steaks taste when made over a charcoal fire. Using this grill compared with a gas grill takes longer, so I usually just use this one on days off or weekends. The extra time is well worth it. To speed things up, pick up the Weber chimney starter. For a few extra bucks, this is a better choice than the One-Touch Silver model because this adds the ash catcher and the hinged cooking great for replenishing charcoal.

Great grill
5 Star Review   By member MechanicalMan - Jul 21, 2005

Strengths: Ash catcher, vent system, hinged grill

Weakness: The lid is a little inconvenient

This is actually my first Weber, and I love it. I'm a bit surprised that the Silver model seems to be a much better seller. Yes, the Gold is quite a bit more expensive, but the ash catcher is definitely worth it. The Gold also includes a hinged grill, which is very useful if you do a lot of indirect heat grilling. The vents and cleaning system are excellent. And as you would expect, the grill is very easy to assemble. My only (very minor) complaint is the lid. The lid has a hook that you attach to a handle on the base. It really doesn't bother me, but it may be a minor annoyance if you are used to grills with hinged lids. Also, the price difference between the Silver and Gold models seems excessive.

Strengths: Easy to open bottom vents. Easy to assemble. Ash catcher is a great feature.

Weakness: Legs seem light and fragile.

I replaced a 20-year old Weber grill, and so far I like the improvements. However, the legs do not feel to be the same quality as my old one, as a lighter gauge aluminum is used. I most enjoy the "one-touch" opening of the bottom vents, since opening all three of the vents on my old had become quite a task due to buildup of ash and char between the grill and the vent cover.
