Buy it...you've read every review, been to their website, heard about the one at Costco, understand it has more features than the others for half the price...Your wife will get over the splurge after a week and a killer steak and flowers. Vision service is unbelievable, the Grill is Solid. I cooked ribs on the nose at 230 for 5 hours and a Ribeye at 750. The electric port is no gimmick and they took care of any leaks around the ashtray I have understudied chefs from all over the country and was raised on BBQ in south Georgia...my father has a competition smoker that he has to pay property tax on...and he is impressed. Make the purchase...you'll be glad you did when they park that indestructible box on your deck. PS..i fixed a tile in the kitchen and got me off the hook 2 days faster with the Misses.

Great product and value.
5 Star Review   By Sid512 on Home Depot - Jun 11, 2013

I've had this grill for 3 weeks and have used it 8-9 times. I checked out other kamodo grills and this grill lives up to all the excellent reviews. The value for the product you get can't be beat. Other grills will cost you much more and the Vision Grill customer service is also excellent. E-mails are quickly responded to and they are very helpful. I could of purchased a large retail wholeseller's version for less but I opted for the Pro model since it had additional valuable features like, pull-out ash tray, cast iron top vent, and electric charcoal starter slot. Home Depot also saves you $ with free delivery which other suppliers will charge at least $150 USD.

GREAT ALL-AROUND COOKER
5 Star Review   By TheOneTrueFlavor on Home Depot - Jun 11, 2013

I had been looking for a certain other popular cooking device originally but wanted more features at this price point, This unit had all the things I would want for my cooking styles. I have a smoker and grill that was dying out and it was time for a "one shot one kill" cooking device. Home Depot has a credit card that and made the purchase a no-brainer at 24 mos interest free. So I have had this unit for 2 weeks and all I can say is wow... I catch myself sitting down in front of the grill tipping back some frosties and admiring it's beauty.. Not the reason for going this route but this thing is made very well, also shipped very well for free to my house. After a few rounds of faux cooking I got the temperatures down pat and started to cook. I'm not used to such and efficient cooker, it just took me time! The foods out of this is out of this world, no joke. Any of the kamado's are great cooking devices but at this value for this unit with everything combined is 5 star all the way. I have been told by friends that the food I cook is insane on this. I was heckled at from owners of other popular cooking units to tel me that I had a "fake" popular cooking device but now they just call the popular cooking device a "kamado" Buy this if you grill/sear/smoke because it does it all. The only draw backs are starting the lump charcoal and having to wait a little bit to cook, mind you this is coming from a guy that had a gas grill. it's way easier with the electric starter that's sold separately. Coming from a gas grill that was easy snap to start up and get to temp I wouldn't change a thing from where I'm at now. Secondly to properly set the temps you will have to let less air in on the dials and on the top as the convenient pull out ash drawer has leaks. nothing you cant figure out with what comes with the unit. Some serious smoking individuals may want to modify this drawer to let less air in but my smokes in my opinion with the lava rock heat diffusor have turned out much better than on my smoker that only smoked things and was a pain in the butt. I also recommend using a shop vac to clean the ashes from inside the Kamado... super fun and easy. Great job Vision grills, for putting together a solid unit that rivals any unit, 600-3,000 that's out there today, and that says a lot, it's not that you can make the most trusted and loved cooking devices that have been around for ages and make it much better. One of those things that just work well. Cheers!

Can't beat it!
5 Star Review   By soutpaw on Home Depot - Jun 4, 2013

I was just on the verge of buying a BGE or Primo when I saw one of these at Costco. The one at Costco was the base model so it might be a little hard to maintain, so I purchased my from THD. It has a removable ash trash and multiple dials so getting to and maintaining your temperature is easier to do. I've had mine for about 2 months now and I love it! I can sear steaks or smoke ribs equally well without having to invest over $1200.00 in either BGE or Primo. Plus, unlike BGE or Primo, this unit comes with everything you need to start grilling right away. So you don't have to buy the chamber, then buy the stand, then the side tables, then the double grates, and cover separately. It's all included. It even comes with a searing stone plate! In terms of quality it seems to be pretty top notch. The felt lining around the rim does tend to burn off quickly at higher temperatures, but one call to Vision customer service and I got an improved one in the mail a few days later. Shipping was easy, set up is easy, customer service is great. Given the choice all over again I don't know why anyone would purchase a BGE or Primo over Vision. It's the same technology and materials, but at a much lower price. The days of BGE and Primo raking buyers over the coals (pun intended) on price are over!

Let's barbeque!
5 Star Review   By ceedog on Home Depot - May 27, 2013

Arrived well-packaged, but with a few chips in the ceramic bowl and a chip on the outside. Very, very heavy to lift and place on deck...but should stay there for years!! I've already called the company about their incomplete instruction manual (especially with the electric starter port apparatus) and they were in the process of revamping their youtube instructions, anyway. I am still waiting on the ceramic repair paint they promised to send me...weeks ago. The Kamado has a cool look and a nice heavy weatherproof cover. I look forward to many years of great barbeque now!

5 Star Review   By windward on Home Depot - May 1, 2013

6 months in, I can say this is the best grill I have ever owned. low and slow is easy with outstanding results. Quality is excellent and better than the egg with many options like the stand, side tables and cover. Best buy in a komado style cooker. My friends and neighbors are always asking when I'm cooking on it again.

4 Star Review   By Waynethapain on Home Depot - Apr 30, 2013

My first grilling experience was great. The charcoal was easy to light with the heater. The temperature controls worked pretty well. My pork tenderloin came out tasty and juicy. My second time was good also. Marinated pork chops were delicious. Food tastes so much better than from my gas grill. I am getting ready to smoke some ribs for the ultimate test. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

An absolutely outstanding grill!
5 Star Review   By SheriffBufordTJustice on Home Depot - Apr 30, 2013

Having now used the grill for two weeks for smoking (low and slow) as well as grilling, I can honestly say that it is an awesome product! I am completely impressed with the construction of the grill, as well as features not offered on the Big Green Egg (ash drawer, electric charcoal starter slot, etc.). The grill holds temperatures perfectly with the use of the top vent and two bottom dial vents. I was extremely impressed by how accurately it maintains temperatures. This grill gets far hotter than my gas grill which allows steaks to be seared to perfection. I would reccomend purchasing the additional lava cooking stone heat deflector if you plan on doing any smoking/low slow cooking. All told, I couldn't be more impressed by this grill!

This is a great product. the range of prices for this type of grill range from $350 to over $1,500 so this was right in the middle. It holds the heat for several hours and is easy to use.

Love it!!!!
5 Star Review   By lovevisiongrill on Home Depot - Apr 16, 2013

Compared this grill with one on Costco website and ordered it on-line from Home Depot, because it has an ash tray. Grill came intact, no damages. It was easy to assemble. However, you need two people to put all together because grill is heavy. I never had an experience with kamado grills and didn't know how to operate it and no instruction was available along with it. I found it on-line on Vision website. Not a big deal but... Otherwise, I baked pizza on it, smoked BBQ, grilled chicken and vegetables, and everything was great. My family and friends ate everything within blink of eye. My daughter asked me, "Why you didn't buy it earlier?" I disagree with some people writing that it is hard to keep temperature low. It does have 700 F within 10 minute after it is fired, however, open the lid for a couple of minutes, close all vents and close the lid and temp will be 200 F which is great for smoking. You must have lava stone as a deflector. You have to purchase it separate. I didn't operate grill without it. Also buy electric starter. Overall I love it, love it, love it!!!! Everybody be careful: you might gain some weight.

Love this grill
5 Star Review   By Phisma on Home Depot - Apr 9, 2013

The grill is perfect and cooks great. It did arrive chipped in two places and Home Depot gave me a gift card for ten percent of the cost. It took a while to get to me (about two weeks) and we have used it almost everyday since then. It comes with good features like an electric starter.

Great choice
5 Star Review   By Hoosier on Home Depot - Mar 19, 2013

I had always wanted a kamado grill, but didn't want to spend to outrageous money for the high end. This grill comes with everything you need to start grilling. I have used it the past 4 weekends since I have had the grill. It holds temperature great from smoking to searing. One word of advise be sure and get the lava stone to help with indirect heating.

5 Star Review   By ESMcMillan on Home Depot - Dec 15, 2012

We are REALLY enjoying our Kamado Grill. Set up was pretty easy, and we are cooking on it pretty regularly. It is taking a little while to get the hang of temp and how long to cook food, but we are enjoying the challenge...and the taste is GREAT!

Kamado arrived & easy to install
4 Star Review   By sleightofhand on Home Depot - Dec 6, 2012

Haven't cooked on it yet but I'll tell you about its arrival and installation. I used Homedepot.com and it arrived in exactly 7 days. It appears the origin was east coast and I'm on the west coast. The box arrived damaged and I was concerned - very concerned - it was cracked or damaged. Due to the extraordinary packaging materials - it was just fine. Assembly was a snap - pretty straightforward. The issue for most will be getting the Kamado into it's stand. The weight - maybe about 100 pounds? I suggest you get a buddy to help lift it. For myself the weight was fine but the awkward shape took me 2 tries to load that grill into it's stand. Removing the inside ceramic protector takes away some weight too. All in all, Im very happy about the ordering, shipping (with the exception of the damaged box), and assembly. To be honest - cooking food on this grill really shouldnt be a means to review any item as I think the taste reflects the chef - not the tools. Did you ever say to your wife - "That was an awesome meal honey - what kinda' pots and pans did you use?" (Bobby Flay will cook circles around all of us even if he used a portable hibachi and we used the Kamado.) With that said, I have been seriously smoking ribs, tri tip, pork for over 10 years. I have used the indirect side box smoker and know that you have to dial down the temp which takes a while to master. Weather, amount of coal, the type and size of meat really changes the timing and temp. So far so good..... Thanks again to Home Depot and Vision for carrying this awesome product!

Great Product and Value
5 Star Review   By PaulK on Home Depot - Nov 1, 2012

Product was delivered quickly and in excellent condition. One of the better prices for a Kamado style barbeque. Much better than the most notable brand. Having the controls on the bottom are easier to use and control than the flimsy bottom panel on the other Kamado brands. More accurate. Also, cleaning out the ashes is very easy by the slide out drawer, as opposed to scooping out in the other Kamado brands. Finally, lighting is very easy and quick using an electric lighter inserted in the built in port. These are great features and they even have patent pending on some of this.

Vision
5 Star Review   By sehamilton on Home Depot - Oct 30, 2012

Beautifully made should last a lifetime. Grills, Bakes, Smokes...works perfectly there is a learning curve...to figure out how much wood and position of vents to control temperature. Came wonderfully packaged impressive quality and easy to put together...however be sure to have help unpacking as the package weight is 200 pounds! The Vision is literally a ceramic oven...think communal village oven...DEFINITELY A 5 STAR ITEM! You will need an electric charcoal starter...as fluid lighter or newspaper would permeate the ceramic and effect flavor. I also purchased a volcanic cooking stone...perfect for pizza, fish or baking bread.

Just order one!
5 Star Review   By drjgood on Home Depot - Oct 23, 2012

This cooker is better than my expectations. I'm from a Texas town that bears the title of BBQ capital of Texas and I BBQ all the time. This cooker makes the best BBQ I have ever had. It is heavy and a bit of a problem for one guy to assemble but I did it by myself. I don't like useing charcoal, I use mostly mesquite and pecan, so I used cheap Walmart brickets and put some mesquite on top. Turns out great. I like the heavy duty hardware and the well designed cover that comes with it. The negatives are: Will not hold but maybe two briskets, leaks enough air that burns up all the left over charcoal, don't order the Home Depot recommended cover as it comes with one.

Great product at a great value
4 Star Review   By Scrappy on Home Depot - Oct 2, 2012

I bought this because it is two times cheaper than the Big Green Egg. It is NOT less quality though. This is a great value. The only issue is the electric starter door and letting air in when trying to work low temps. or stop cooking. I ended up sealing the door with high temp. tape and it works great. Beyond that this is an outstanding product.

Great grill so far
5 Star Review   By BenJ on Home Depot - Sep 26, 2012

The Vision Grills Kamado Pro was a great buy for me. The grill was delivered in a very thoughtfully packaged crate; all necessary parts were in the package and undamaged. It took about 30 minutes to assemble and my wife and I easily lifted the grill onto the wheeled-stand. For my first use, I smoked 14 pounds of pork shoulder. With one load of charcoal (real wood, lump charcoal) and a few pieces of pecan wood for smoke, I was able to smoke the meat for 15 hours. Using the electric starter (purchased separately) was easy and quick. I had to play with the dials a bit to get the temperature to 210-220 degrees, and it was a bit tough to maintain that low temperature, but I got there eventually. I think there is a bit of air that creeps in from the starter door, which was causing the temperature to creep. All in all, this is a good buy and the meat turned out exceptional.

This is a excellent grill
5 Star Review   By brobin on Home Depot - Sep 22, 2012

I have owned many grills including the clay grill that looks very similar to this grill. I have used smokers, electric, gas and many different types of charcoal grills. This grill far exceeds the capabilities of those grills because it does it all. It can smoke, grill and sear as well as any grill on the market. Once you learn to use the vents to control the temperatures you are on your way to provide excellent meals. This grill is well constructed and I do beleive that it will satisfy the needs of the most passionate barbecue pro.

A great grill if.........
4 Star Review   By Shallow on Home Depot - Sep 22, 2012

This is a great grill if you do a couple of things for temperature control. 1. Seal around the ash tray chassis with high temperature caulk. Where this unit seats into the ceramic grill is not perfect. 2. Use some small weather stripping to seal around where the removable ashtray itself meets up to the chassis. Once I did this the grill functions flawlessly. I have cooked Boston butts at 250 for 10 hours without adding charcoal. I have cooked pizzas at 450. This grill makes cooking easy and fun. Overall the quality of the grill is good. There where a couple of chips in the paint that I touched up with black spray paint. The fire bowl did rock just a bit so I shimmed it. In my opinion using a charcoal chimney is easier than an electric starter to get the charcoal started. I would recommend getting the lava stone if you want to cook pizza or possibly even bake bread. With a little extra expense and work you can make this grill work exceptionally well. And still be several hundred dollars under the cost of the better known brands. Hope this helps.

Excellent Product!
5 Star Review   By pinkdiamond on Home Depot - Sep 12, 2012

My husband and I couldn't be happier that we made this purchase! It is true that it maintains temperature and our food has come out amazing every time. Since our purchase, we haven't had the desire to go to any restaurant and order meats of any kind. My advice? Find some good marinating recipes, and you'll never regret spending the money!

GREAT GRILL - FANTASTIC SMOKER
5 Star Review   By critter on Home Depot - Sep 6, 2012

this high quality kamado grill does everything from grilling to smoking - its easy to light charcoal, grill or smoke with air supply controls & cleaning out ashes, just take off the top grate, push ashes from fire bowl into ash tray & empty tray, - it works as advertised, i close the bottom & top vents & the charcoal quits burning to be used the next time, no air leaks on mine - the value for this quality grill is excellent at 699.00 with free shipping at home depot - i would recommend watching the video on unpacking grill from box, its very helpful - the only bad design i have with this grill is the plastic lever used to close the top vent (mine broke while tapping with the palm of my hand & left my wrist bleeding) - i'm posting a picture of of my redesign made from stainless steel bar, i hope this helps you, i'm very happy with my purchase & the food tastes so goooooooooood.

GREAT GRILL, GREAT PRICE
5 Star Review   By MarkB on Home Depot - Sep 5, 2012

I bought a Traeger Smoker to replace a cheap wood smoker I had. I just didn't like the smoke output of the Traeger so started researching komado style smokers/grills. After a lot of looking and reading reviews I landed on this one. After some use this somker is great. You can smoke or grill depending on settings. The smoke ring on tri-tip or brisket is near perfect providing for an incredible taste. The construction of the Vision Grill komado is well done and with the cart included makes it even better. Some others charge you for the extras like a stand or side shelves, Vision included it. Plus, in doing my research I called some of the manufactuers and found Vision Grills had the best customer service answering all my questions prior to purchase. Lastly, Home Depot had the best price and FREE shipping. Trucking company was very good regarding delivery. It was easy to assemble. If stuck on assembly there are several utube videos to guide you. There is even a video on how to unpack it. There are some videos on using a komados as they are different from any smoker/grill you may have used.

The Vision Kamado is a well made item. Assembly was a snap. The cooking results have been great. Before you cook anything take some time to play with the vents to get a feel for temperature control.

Performance of the product has been all that I expected
5 Star Review   By Griller on Home Depot - Aug 28, 2012

Quality seems very good and it has some of the better features of the top of the line model for this company. The set-up was simple but the manual that came with it was lacking in depth and especially in cooking techniques for this type of product.

Easy to assembly, only hard part is it takes two to put the body on the stand, its very heavy. the slot for the charcoal, is a great idea, makes lighting easier. the grates has a hinged section that can be lifted to place wood chips for smoking. so fat there is nothing I dont like about this grill!!

Great grill, but...
2 Star Review   By Robin on Home Depot - Aug 12, 2012

I had a Kamodo grill for 10 years. Great grill, but when mine developed numerous large cracks, the company did not honor it's lifetime warranty. Others on the Internet have said the same.

Great value compared to the others. Excellent quality/workmanship. Awesome to cook with.
5 Star Review   By artII on Home Depot - Aug 6, 2012

Includes many more features than the other grills at a far better cost. It comes with better temperature controls, ash tray, electric charcoal lighter port, second tier grill rack, paint touch up kit, heavy duty stand with rollers, foldable side bamboo trays and even a heavy black vinyl/canvas cover. The second tier grill rack and cover would be an add-on with the other ceramic/kamado grills I reasearched. The folding trays are convenient space savers. I have been amazed at how well it controls the temperature for long periods of time. It does an outstanding job smoking and searing. I also purchased the volacanic cooking stone for both heat deflection and pizza. It comes with a stainless steel rack to hold it below the grill. An can hold a tray of water for moisture control for brisket and ribs. I couldn't be happier. It has pretty much supplanted my gas grill. One thing to be prepared for when it is shipped, is that it is quite heavy (e.g., around 200 lbs). It is packed unbelievable well, but you will need more than one person to move the box from where ever it is dropped off to final placement. I wasn't home when the shippers came so it was on my front porch. It is quite easy to assemble, just a bit heavy to lift into the stand but I was able to do that myself.

Everything I expected for a great price!
5 Star Review   By DDDA on Home Depot - Jul 31, 2012

The Vision Kamado Pro Grill is a great deal for the price. I've used the grill twice so far and both times the meat has come out juicier than what you would get on a regular gas or charcoal grill. The grill itself is stylish looking and easy to start up. The parts are very (VERY!) heavy, so putting it together required a lot of muscle. Also, the instructions seemed incomplete as far as setting up the part for the electric starter. Luckily it was easy to figure out.

Just smoked my first ribs and brisket, Simply Amazing!
5 Star Review   By DanInFL on Home Depot - Jul 30, 2012

This cooker has everything you need, is clearly good quality, and is STILL less expensive than other brands like BGE. Ribs were incredible, Brisket was tender and juicy, the flavor on both with just lump charcoal was epic. Easy to assemble, Easy to start, easy to clean. Well-made and well-designed. Didn't know what I'd be getting when I ordered, but I couldn't be more pleased. Did I mention I have never cooked on a ceramic cooker and had very little idea what I was doing, but I now feel like a BBQ Pitmaster! I'm sure I have plenty to learn, but if I only get better from here I may be changing careers! The only thing I would warn about is: this sucker is heavy, when you put it together make sure you remove everything from inside, the ceramic bowl, coal grate, and stainless steel grill. They are each only moderately heavy but all 3 inside make the thing almost impossible for two to move. In the end I think weight = quality in this case so I'm ultimately glad it has the mass. You really can't go wrong here! I'm thrilled, can't wait to do a pork shoulder/boston butt, chicken, and sausage next.

Excellent product for the price
5 Star Review   By Vetteman on Home Depot - Jul 27, 2012

As everyone pretty much mentioned this is a very good kamado grill. The vessel itself is excellent quality and well made. The accessories that it comes with others will charge you for. Other than a few minor issues like a side table not collapsing properly and firebox wobbling on some (I fixed that with a shim that I made) it's a pretty awesome grilling/searing/smoking/baking machine. I contacted Vision Customer Service for the wobbling firebox issue and by the time I heard back I had already thought of making a shim and I did. They advised me if I wasn't happy with having the shim, they would pursue a different solution to make sure that I was 100% satisfied. Since the vessel is hand made I resolved the wobble issue and decided not to pursue any further as their customer service was very reassuring and if I have any other issues in the future I'm confident I can get them resolved. Now the minor issues that I had has nothing to do with how well this thing cooks and makes you forget about it all. I smoked some ribs and contrary with other people mentioning the air leaks around the pull out tray, I had zero issues maintaining 225 degrees for 8 hours straight. I'm confident I can even get it lower if I really have to on some cooks and IMO it's more technique than anything else plus familiarizing yourself with the grill helps and I'm pretty seasoned as far as charcoal cooking. One thing to remember if you're new to charcoal or kamados is pratice makes perfect. Also for testing purposes, I covered the potential leak areas with duck tape, got it up to 225 and started peeled the tape off piece by pieace to see if there would be change in the temp. I did this the first few cooks and happy to report there is no difference in temp. Yesteday I smoked some ribs without any tapes or covers (including on the electric lighter port) and it still held the temp all the way through. To sum it up, I'm a happy camper and don't hesitate to buy this product if you're in the marker for one.

Top notch quality!
5 Star Review   By Quackdaddy on Home Depot - Jul 24, 2012

You can't go wrong with this Kamado. Thick ceramics. Top vent is cast iron. Thick stainless steel grates & upper rack. Cast iron grate in firebox. Love the ability to slide in electric charcoal starter and the slide out ash pan (thick steel) with gasket around it. All hardware on outside is heavy gauge stainless steel. Lid hinges are very strong. Nice size thermometer. Comes with cover. User manual is a good starting point for learning to regulate the temperature. After shutting down from 500 degrees, it holds temp for hours and still charcoal left to use the next day. The only thing I would change would be adding gasket under door where you slide in the electric charcoal starter. You will leak air there. Simple solution: slide index card under door & to cover opening. Plan to cut a piece of sheet metal with gasket to seal under door when shutting down after cooking. Bought the volcanic rock cooking stone to use for indirect heat (make sure you follow directions). Works great. As good or better product than Big Green Egg or Kamado Joe. You can't go wrong with this.

Vision Grill Kamado Pro
5 Star Review   By CookingMachine on Home Depot - Jul 24, 2012

Very Happy with grill - disappointed that it didn't come with electric starter, it comes with the kit from Vision. I assumed it was include but I assumed wrong. Also grill was very dirty like it had been sitting in a warehouse and had a big chip in the back. I think the grill is fantastic and after speaking with one of the owners of Vision Grills, he spent ½ hour explaining how to work everything and keep control of the lump charcoal. Seems like an amazing company.

A Very Good Buy
4 Star Review   By KamadoPizzaCooker on Home Depot - Jul 22, 2012

I did quite a bit of research before I chose a Kamado grill. There are a lot of them on the market now. There are a few that are less expensive than this one and there are many that are more. This model is the same size as the well known large model of kamado grill and a few hundred bucks less. It comes standard with shelves and a rolling stand that many of the more expensive brands don't have. For the price and Free Shipping, it was hard to ignore. I purchased this Kamado grill via the website. I ordered it on a Thursday night and it shipped the next day. It was delivered the following Thursday by a two man crew (it is VERY heavy). The packaging of this grill was about as good as it gets. It was on a pallet that was not wood, but very rigid cardboard making it easy to recycle. It was double boxed and the outer box was held to the pallet with straps. Simply cut the straps with scissors and lift it off. Then everything else under that was boxed with some of the thickest cardboard I've seen. Once inside, every part that could move had foam and cardboard around it. Even the expansion joint in the firebowl had a strip of cardboard inserted for protection. The hinges on the lid were also very well protected. Assembly was very minimal. The stand was very simple to assemble and then only the lid handle and shelves had to be attached. You need two people to lift this onto the stand. I had my daughter hold the stand and then we lifted it onto the stand. One accessory that is absolutely necessary if you plan to use this for anything other than high heat cooking is the Vision Volcano Stone or similar stone. The Vision stone is 3/4" thick and weighs 12.5lbs. It came with a spider bracket that hangs onto the fire bowl. Then the grill grate can be placed above that for indirect cooking. The first thing I cooked was a pizza. I used the volcano stone right on top of the fire bowl. Then added the lower grill grate with my seasoned pizza stone. I let the grill heat to 550F and I also tossed in two small chunks of hickory right on top of the lump charcoal (*Immediately place your stones into the grill after you light it. They will break if they are added to an already hot grill). Then, I spread some corn meal onto the pizza stone and then placed the pie. It was the best pizza I have ever cooked on a grill. It only takes a few short minutes. I wanted a real stone brick oven, but did not have the room for it and that is another reason I bought this. But, the lower volcano/lava stone is absolutely necessary or the crust will burn before the toppings are ready. The lower stone leaves a gap on the outer edges and the heat travels up and around the top dome. This creates convection and allows the toppings on the pizza to cook/melt. I've since seared burgers and steaks with excellent results. Using lump charcoal is the only way to go. This part is long, but very important: My only concern at this point is the electric starter door on the front panel. While it is a nice idea...and it works...I believe it is also a source for introducing air. If all you do is cook at higher temps, it won't matter too much. But if you actually want to smoke something at 200-250F, it may be a problem. The entire front panel slides out with a nice ash catcher. I like this feature and it makes removing ash easy. I also like the slot for the electric starter. So my suggestion to Vision is to eliminate the lift up door on the front of that panel and simply slide out the entire drawer and then insert the electric starter. If you lift that door 180-degrees, like I imagine most people will, the spring does what over extended springs do and then the door does not close tightly and introduces air. I have sealed mine and I don't use it now. I pull out the drawer and insert the electric starter. The nice thing about lump charcoal is you can cut off the air and it will stop burning. That allows you to use what is left in the fire bowl again until it is gone. But if air is getting into the system, it does not snuff out so easily. I found that my grill was hot for several hours. Maybe this is normal for all these ceramic grills.

Update, I returned this grill in less than 2 months.
2 Star Review   By MikeA on Home Depot - Jul 17, 2012

Home Depot's product review application does not allow updates to previously posted reviews, so I created this new review as an update. I really like the way this cooker grills and sears; the food it produces is incredibly tasty. However, controlling the temperature for low and slow smoking is very difficult, as others have previously mentioned. I also had quite a few quality issues, most of which the manufacturer was quick to resolve. Customer Service is very good. Since the grill was less than 2 months old, I was unhappy with the multiple quality issues, the effort required to control temperatures for low and slow cooking and became concerned this grill would not last for the many years expected. My issues were: 1) the firebowl rocked in the vessel and needed to be replaced on day one 2) the unit arrived with the ash drawer housing not attached to the vessel and the electric starter door would not close 3) The plastic pull on the top vent snapped 4) sooty condensation leakage through the electric starter port and dripped on my decking 5) maintaining a low and steady temperature for smoking required too much time and attention I've decided to spend a little more money and invest in a more tried and true product.

Pretty happy
5 Star Review   By Marius on Home Depot - Jul 14, 2012

I had grill for about a month now and I'm pretty happy with it. Used it for ribs ,steak, veggies, chicken and I gotta say it all was very juicy and delicious . Coming from a propane grill it was a change getting used to cooking with lump charcoal and specially keeping the temperature desired but the booklet that comes with it is pretty helpful to which air port to close or open for different cooking temps. I was actually considering getting a weber grill prior to seeing one of these grills in one store. Did some research and decided to buy one. I called customer service and mentioned my 10% off lowes coupon and they gladly honored it. Overall very happy with my purchase. The ash tray is very helpful by itself. I could not imagine having to remove ashes in other ways, maybe vacuum the grill out. The only thing I'm still working on is getting the temp right.

Great Kamado Style Grill
4 Star Review   By brimount on Home Depot - Jul 11, 2012

Its has delivered what was advertised. Pro's: Heat settings very accurate, well constructed, high grade cover, does a nice job with grilling - have not smoked yet. Cons: REALLY heavy - don't plan on moving it much even with the casters, small grilling space although it does have two stacked grills - they are awkward to manage ( I knew this when I bought it), assembly instructions were not clear, definitely a 2 man lift to put it together, electric wand starter - good idea, but doesn't work well because you end up pulling charcoal out the port when you remove the lighter once charcoal is lit. I use compressed fire starters instead of elect - much better.

Great Grill!
5 Star Review   By Bree on Home Depot - Jul 10, 2012

I bought my husband the Kamado Pro for Father's Day. He's getting used to adjusting the temperature. He has smoked pork on it and grilled some steaks. The taste of the steaks was FABULOUS! However due to operator getting used to the temperature adjustment.. some were a little over done.. but I know he'll get that perfected soon! The steak I had was perfect medium well, juicy, and delicious! Pork was delicious and tender. We're using natural lump wood and we love it because it doesn't have the taste of fuel at all. It fired up QUICK and was ready for grilling in no time. Compared to our friend's Big Green Egg, couldn't tell the difference at all!

I love this grill! Food flavor is so much better than gas.
5 Star Review   By MikeA on Home Depot - Jul 6, 2012

After exhaustive research (local and online) to educate myself on ceramic grills, the Vison Grills Kamado Pro was an easy choice. It is shipped with several options that would elevate the Big Green Egg to almost twice the price. Also, the lifetime warranty on the ceramics provides "peace of mind". My unit had a fire bowl with uneven base which wobbled in the vessel (base). Customer Service shipped me a replacement without hesitation. Outstanding!! Favorite features: - Two dial ports on the bottom and multi-position top cap provide great draft contol - The charcoal door for using an electric starter is so convenient - The ash drawer makes clean up so easy (great idea) I made a small modification to make the unit a little more air tight for shutdown. I applyed Rutland RTV 500 degree black silicone seal to the outside of the ash drawer housing and also to the opening behind the electric charcaol starter door. I have grilled chicken, pork, steaks, lamb, corn on the cob and tuna to rave reviews. It is so easy to grill great food with this cooker. Can't wait to try pizza next and ribs after that!

Awesome purchase
5 Star Review   By Shane on Home Depot - Jul 5, 2012

I have been wanting a kamado style cooker for 4 years and finally purchased the Vision Pro from Home Depot for Fathers Day. This was such a great purchase. I can smoke with high heat (700+) and smoke low and slow. Have already done both with extreme ease. If you are in the market for a kamado style grill, this one is awesome. I love the air controls, which allow you to control the temperature with ease. One tip for low temp cooking, do not allow the grill to heat up past the desired temperature since the ceramic enclosure retains heat VERY WELL. Better to slowly raise the temperature with the air controls and once stabilized, your cooking. I have found that the BGE brand of 100% hardwood charcoal really gives me great flavor and allows for the best temperature control. Also make sure to purchase the stone heat deflector/pizza plate because this is a must for slow cooking over low heat.

Great product, amazing customer support!
5 Star Review   By Biggiesbenz on Home Depot - Jun 25, 2012

I purchased the "last" unit at my local HD, a floor model. The unit didn't have a manual and had a few cosmetic issues as well. I called the contact number at Vision Grills and experienced customer support unlike anything I have ever experienced. They immediately sent me a manual, a few acorn nuts that were missing and a repair kit for the exterior of my unit, all warranty supported. The package came quickly. In addition, after my first smoke (I went for it on the first smoke by cooking a ten pound brisket . . . oh yea, it was amazing). During the smoke I experienced some rookie challenges. So this morning I called Vision Grills and the man I spoke with talked me through my rookie mistakes. These are some of the most friendly and "customer first" folks I have ever talked too. I am so glad I purchased this smoker!

Nice product, excellent value.
4 Star Review   By HerbyN on Home Depot - Jun 19, 2012

This grill has lived up to expectations so far. Good quality, solidly built (though the exterior ceramic did have a few chips), and the grill has performed well during it's first two uses, particularly at high heat. What keeps me from giving this item a full 5-star rating is the fact that temperature modulation is a bit of a challenge (i'm sure with practice this will improve), and in particular, keeping the temperature low enough for "low and slow" cooking is particularly challenging. I have found some online postings and youtube vids that suggest "sealing" the lower vent area, so i will give that a try. Also, the grate provided sits a little high and too close to the top of the dome for my taste, making items that are cooked sitting vertically (like a beer can chicken or turkey) cook a little unevenly (if tall enough the food nearly touches the top of the dome when closed). Investigating accessories or a grate with a slightly smaller diameter so it will sit lower in the base of the kamado might be worth investigating. Also, there is no indirect heat "plate setter" included so expect to invest a little more in making your set-up versatile and complete. Overall, though, I'm extremely happy with the purchase. The high temps you can achieve with this product is simply unattainable with gas grills or traditional "kettle" grills in the same price range. And to get an item like this in the $700 range when compared to what you will pay for a similar "Big Green Egg" or other kamado grills of equal craftsmanship makes selecting this model (if you are in the market for a kamado-style grill) a no-brainer.

Extra Features
5 Star Review   By cooker on Home Depot - Jun 5, 2012

There are two versions of this Kamado. Home Depot sells the slightly more expensive one. The other discount store where it is available has one that is very similar and is about $150.00 less. After using this unit for 4 times, I do believe the premium for this Kamado (the Pro) is worth it. The basic difference is the Home Depot unit has a "port" for an electric igniter, a cast iron air control on the top, and an "easy empty" ash drawer. Lighting is very easy with the port. And, importantly, you can have the "plate setter" or cooking stone in place when you light the Kamado. Without the port, you would not be able to get an igniter in place. No need to open a port and scrape out the ashes into a container. The ashes drop into a drawer that can be slid out and dumped. I did compare the quality to other Kamados. The hardware and finish is better than almost all I saw, even though some were almost double in price.

Vision Pro Kamado grill seems all it is touted to be!
5 Star Review   By SpottR on Home Depot - Jun 5, 2012

Am still learning how to use this grill. Since I have never grilled or smoked there is a learning curve for me. HOWEVER, the Kamado Pro is very substantially made; workmanship seems excellent. Very well packed for shipping. Someone not accustomed to assembling things might find this challenging as instructions could be more detailed. If you've also not smoked or grilled before, I'd get a kamado grill cookbook or find one of the on-line forums to educate yourself. Am glad I made this purchase.

5 Star Review   By KatT on Home Depot - Jun 5, 2012

We've been grilling with gas for many years just out of convenience, but our old Ducane is about to bite the dust. We looked at Big Green Eggs a few years ago, but the cost was prohibitive. Last year we saw the Vision Grill Classic at Costco, which got us interested again. Before we made up our minds to purchase one, they were gone. This Spring, we started looking seriously, and did a lot of research. We checked out most of the major brands, including Primo and BGE. We even made a couple of calls to Vision for information. We concluded that the Vision Grill was just as good as, if not better than, the BGE - especially since they've upgraded to a lifetime warranty. (Vision uses slightly thicker ceramic and gaskets, and a larger vent hole in the lid increasing draft.) After discovering Vision makes a Pro version, we decided it would be worth the extra money for the ease of emptying ashes if nothing else, and Home Depot has the best price on that model. We've only had a chance to use our new Vision Pro a couple of times so far, but can say that gas or regular briquettes cannot compare to the flavor from lump charcoal. Even the color of the meat is more appetizing. There is a bit of a learning curve, but we have found the controls easy to use, and in only a couple of uses have mastered holding temps where we want them. One of our calls to Vision yielded a 34 minute grilling lesson from an owner of the company, along with a page full of notes - including a tip on what brand of charcoal to buy and where to get the best price. We'd have to agree with all the great reviews we read about Visions' customer service. After considering quality, price, warranty, and terrific customer service, the choice was a no-brainer. This grill is outstanding from every angle, and we love that it came complete with stand, shelves, raised rack, and cover. Why spend twice as much for anything else?!

Excellent, well built grill
5 Star Review   By Joel on Home Depot - May 30, 2012

I was somewhat reluctant to purchase this grill online without seeing one in person. I read the other reviews and decided to take a chance. I am very happy with this purchase. Like most people I looked at the more popular competitors and I honestely feel like this is a better built product. The lid and hinge assemble seem much better built. Like all products there is one small drawback to this grill. The door on the front for the electric starter didn't close tight and I couldn't keep a low temp for smoking. My wife came up with the idea to pull the drawer open and stick a folded up piece of tin foil behind it and then close the door again. Now it works absolutely perfect!

Great grill, terrible customer service
2 Star Review   By Jason on Home Depot - May 24, 2012

I love the Vision Pro. A month after using the grill, the plastic tab on the cast iron top vent broke completely off. I sent two emails and 1 phone call (had to leave a message) to Vision Grills' customer support. I have not heard anything yet...not a single word, email, or phone call. Something has changed, because all the rave reviews about their customer support are no longer true.

Outstanding Product
5 Star Review   By Grilling1 on Home Depot - May 15, 2012

This is an outstanding product. You can get the temperature very high as well as very low. The sky is the limit with how and what to cook. I recommend trying many different natural lump charcoals. There are different flavors, burn times, maximum temperatures, etc. Opens up a whole new fun way to BBQ!

Excellent grill, Excellent service
5 Star Review   By EdddieP on Home Depot - May 12, 2012

After researching Komado grills I purchased the Vision Pro. When I tried to remove the sticker from the side table I damaged it. I sent an email on Sunday to Vision customer service and was amazed to receive two replies within minutes, they shipped me a replacement immediately . The grill is well built and a quality product in every way. I thoroughly enjoy cooking on it and am impressed how easy to hold low temps for long periods of time. I gave away my smoker and propane grill. I love this product.

Great grill and great price
5 Star Review   By Mcajun on Home Depot - Apr 24, 2012

The grill has exceeded my expectations and it is a great value based on other brands who charge for every extra option available. I am still in the learning curve on how to use the grill and regulate the temperature effectively, but I am making progress.

Great product for price, excellent service
5 Star Review   By bcuer on Home Depot - Apr 13, 2012

Researched several kamado style grills. This one works great. Assembly was easy and the product works as I expected. As other reviewers have stated product support from manufacturer was excellent. Support from Home Depot to manufacturer to even delivery company was awesome. I had to make some special arrangements and changes for delivery and I spoke with real people who went above and beyond to help. The type of service you don't normally see.

VERY IMPRESSED!
5 Star Review   By JAMFITH on Home Depot - Mar 29, 2012

The HD associate actually tried to talk me out of buying this Kamado stating that several of his friends had purchased and had difficulty maintaining heat in the 200-250 deg (smoking) temp range. My first run, I loaded it up with lump hardwood and just practiced changing the temps to get a feel for how it works. I baked several pizzas at 600+ deg and then took it down to about 275 and smoked a 7 pound pork shoulder for about 10 hours. By morning the temp was sitting at about 200 deg and the Pork was PERFECT. I have never used more expensive Kamado grills, but I picked mine up for $499 and at that price, this is a steal!

Initial Quality
5 Star Review   By woodeye on Home Depot - Mar 2, 2012

Having done extensive research on kamado type cookers, I decided on purchasing the Vision Pro. I was disappointed that I was unable to see one in person. Having said that...............Just received the Vision Pro via freight shipping. Had to comment on the Quality of the product. I have been in the large pleasure yacht business for 40 years, so I can tell quality when I see it. I was very impressed with the Vision Pro upon inspection. The packing was well thought out and the unit arrived in great shape ( something that I was very concerned about). From the massive top venting damper with the individual molded air trap pockets to the suprise molded in lower venting body, even to the pull out tray, you can tell that this design was well thought out. No cheap stamped parts here. Everything is overbuilt and fitted very well. I have looked at the "Egg type products" in their showroom and can tell you that the Vision Pro is far superior to that system. By-the -way, I have never written a review before as there is not that much out there that gets me very excited. This does. I will continue this review after I smoke a few tons of meat. ggg

5 Star Review   By TexasAerobatic on Home Depot - Feb 28, 2012

Features on this unit make for easy ignition, clean up and accurate temperature control My first three uses resulted in perfect smoked chicken, a beautifully savory bottom sirloin roast and smoked prime rib to die for. Vision Grills customer service is absolutely the best in the industry

So far so good. It arrived in perfect condition. Driver helped my wife put it in the garage w/O fees. First cooked a whole chicken. Perfect. Then cooked a turkey. Perfect. I'm still worried about holding 220 degrees for smoking 8-12 hours. We'll see. Happy Q'ing Sawed Off Orlando

Great grill and a great company!
5 Star Review   By Johnnyt30 on Home Depot - Feb 2, 2012

This is a great grill! I can hold a low temp of 225 for hours easily and bring it up to 700f in less than a minute. When I bought my vision Kamado from home depot it had a small problem that was home depot fault and vision grills customer service was incredibly good! They took care of the problem 100% and were really caring. You don't get that kinda service any more. Great price, great grill, and a great company!

Excellent grill
5 Star Review   By Bbk6140 on Home Depot - Jan 23, 2012

I bought this grill at my local Home Depot after spending a fair amount of time researching Kamado style grills from several manufacturers. The conclution was a price point decision plus features. Other's lacked the compliment of standard features the Vision Pro comes with. Being a long time gas griller, moving to this type of grill took some getting used to. I am thrilled with how this style of cooks nearly everthing from steak, pizza, fish, ribs, boston butt, you name it. I should have purchased one of these many years ago. I have spent too many dollars on a gas grills, what a waste. I highly recommend the Vision Pro!

Excellent Grill - Even better Service
5 Star Review   By Talltxnguy on Home Depot - Dec 30, 2011

I called the manufacturer from the aisle at Home Depot to convince me why this was better than other similar grills. The Tech, Bruce, was very passionate about the product and after 20 minutes of telling me different ways to cook a Thanksgiving Day Turkey in it. I bought it, made the turkey and everyone was thrilled! One month later, I noticed the thermometer was holding water and the shelves were cracking. I reached Bruce again and he quickly offered to replace all the items at no cost, no questions asked. He also mentioned the new limited life time warranty they have. I wish all product manufacturers were this customer friendly. I don't expect any product to be perfect but do expect a customer to live up to their product, which Vision Grills seems to do exceedingly well.

Awesome!!! Customer Service--Awesome product.
5 Star Review   By Timdelta on Home Depot - Dec 20, 2011

i can't speak highly enough of the customer service from Vision. It rivals and is probably better than the service I receive at the Ritz Carlton. Now for the grill. It is bigger, heavier and better made than the others. It is cheaper and includes more accessories than the others, I think the color is much better than green, but would love to see it in other colors. I see that some have said it does not seal well enough to snuff the coals, wait till it builds up some gunk in the top vent and it will work fine. The top vent is manufactured slightly loose so as not to be so tight it is hard to move. Once the junk builds up the top is perfect. I have the cooking stone too, and it is higher quality than anything else out there.

Excellent kamado grill, excellent price
5 Star Review   By bttn on Home Depot - Nov 20, 2011

I have a couple of friends with other brands of kamado grills, and was impressed with their versatility. I picked up the Vision kamado pro and started my first forey into smoking, and it's been fairly easy and very tasty. I like to grill my steaks at 700+ degrees, and this grill had no problem acheiving that temperature...great for steaks. After my first try smoking, i got the hang of adjusting the temp, and have cooked boston butt, chickens, ribs, and pork shoulders with great success. This grill is easy to light with an electric starter, and though i thought the lump charcol was expensive at first, i can smoke 8 hours without adding charcoal, and when cooking steaks i can get two separate nights of grilling out of the coals....it's well worth it, and as long as we dont tip it over, it looks to last forever. I very good investment, i believe.

Worth it!
5 Star Review   By DPC123 on Home Depot - Nov 4, 2011

If you want a kamado style grill this is a great choice. There are more expensive brands (I've used a couple of others and they were great too) but this an incredible value and the food will tast just as good as grill of twice the price. I've had a couple of issues with accessories and the company went above and beyond to replace them quickly and sent me some extra goodies to make up for the problem. Great product and great customer service.

Excellent, wonderful grill!!!
5 Star Review   By ColumbusKen on Home Depot - Nov 1, 2011

I have been researching this type of grill for some time. Read over all the reviews with Home Depot plus looked all over the internet. Never realized how many of these types of grills were out there. In any event, decided to order it on Thursday along with the cooking stone, the grill arrived on Monday. Began to set it up and one of the cross "X" sections was not tapped / threaded so I did have to run to the hardware store to get the needed tool. $5 for the tap, took about 30 minutes to thread the holes and had it put together shortly afterwards. Very good quality, the packing was excellent, no damages noted. Heavy and well made. There was no adhesive on the inside so not sure what the other review was talking about. Love the ash drawer, opens and closes well, and the shelves are great too. This grill is well worth the money and it is great to be back to charcoal. I have used gas for the past 10 years and 3 grills later decided to switch back. I have had 3 gas grills, if the outer cabinet lasts the inside parts rust or some other part rusts and falls apart. I have always kept my grill covered and well cared for as I grill out year round in Columbus Ohio. The grill is second to none.

What a grill!
5 Star Review   By jamespeak on Home Depot - Oct 29, 2011

This grill gets me excited whenever I cook with it. I find myself daydreaming about what I want to cook next. I've had the grill for three months and I'm still learning how to best cook with it. I've grilled steaks, wood-fired pizza, and smoked a few chickens, with outstanding success. I'll be smoking my first turkey this Thanksgiving--can't wait. This is a high-quality product. Recently, I realized I needed to register for the manufacturer's warranty. (The fire bowl had a chip in it when I purchased it from Home Depot.) I called the Vision Grill company and had a great conversation with one of the owners. I told him that I was a little worried that the fire bowl was chipped when I took possession of the Kamado Pro. He said "no problem, I send you a new one." Outstanding customer service! It reinforces my belief that I made a very wise choice in choosing Kamado Pro. I cannot recommend this grill highly enough--quality inside and out.

Love this thing
5 Star Review   By Wilson on Home Depot - Oct 11, 2011

I have always had a love for charcoal and with my current smoker having rusty pans, purchasing a kamodo style cooker was just the solution. One can argue that there are many kamodo style units on the market, they are much more expensive. Most kamodo units are built similar and resemble an overly large ceramic planter with a cover. The Vision unit is no different. Heavy, well made and comes with the cart. After ordering my unit it arrived the following week. Assembly was easy although the ceramic parts will require another helper to put them into place. I bought the recommended charcoal and use an electric element to start the coals. I have grilled as well as smoked and so far has proven to be an excellent purchase. If you are serious about taste and seasoned by the richness of cooking on charcoal, this unit is an excellent choice.

thoughtful features, generous size, great price
5 Star Review   By idealflaw on Home Depot - Oct 2, 2011

have another ceramic grill at home, which is smaller. this was hundreds lower than the existing one i have, and triple the size. the ash drawer, folding grates, numbered vents (and good instructions on how to use them), and electric starter slot, this grill is very well thought out. It cooks like any other ceramic grill, which is amazing.. the only fault i can find is that when closing off the vents, the coals tend to burn to ash, rather than extinguish. not a big deal. comes with the stand and drop-leaf shelves. the cover is of high quality as well...there is not a grill with these thoughtful enhancements out there, so for that, i commend the brand for differentiating themselves from the competitors. it's also well priced for what it is. highly recommended. oh, buy in store if possible due to its size.

Quality product with great features
5 Star Review   By Gene on Home Depot - Sep 30, 2011

I decided to purchase a Kamado style grill after my propane grill started giving me problems. I looked at the competition and was turned off by the price as well as the need to purchase additional accessories just to get to grilling. This grill is great! It arrived promptly, took a little work to get everything assembled and setup. It's easy to use, instructions could be better especially for the novice Kamado cookers out there. Quality is great but best part is that there are no moving parts so no corroded burners, no inconsistent heat, and no inoperable electric igniters. I'm really happy that HD decided to start carrying this type of grill.

Best Grill Ever Owned And The Only One I"ll Ever Need
5 Star Review   By Jimmy on Home Depot - Sep 27, 2011

This grill is the bomb! I had heard guys at work talk about their "Green Egg" grills and I was curious about this style of grill/cooker.(Kamado Cookers) I did some research on them and decided to seriously start looking to purchase one. I was a little turned off to buying a "Green Egg" because of the price and the extra expense of having to purchase the stand and a lot of other needed accessories separately. That"s when I came upon this Vision Grill at Home Depot. This grill has everything a "Green Egg" has and more. The pull out ash drawer, the two tier cooking grates, the two fold out side tables, the access door for the ignitor, the heavy duty stand with wheel locks, and the heavy duty fitted canvas all weather type cover make this grill a better buy all the way around. I went as far as contacting the manufacturer of this grill to ask some questions about their product. These guys were prompt and extremely courteous about answering all of my questions and assured me to contact them personally if I experienced any problems or concerns with their product. I bought this grill on 8/4/11 online and it was delivered to my home in about a week. I had to assemble the stand but it was very easy to do. Then all you have to do is snap the damper into the top, set the fire pot in place, and you are ready to cook. I"ve had this grill for about a month and a half and I (and my wife) absolutely love it. I know that a month and a half does not sound like a long trial period but you have to understand that I cook on the grill almost daily so that is not a premature judgement. It works and performs exactly how it is advertised. Buy this grill, you will not be disappointed.

Excellent value, thoughtful design
5 Star Review   By CharlieATL on Home Depot - Sep 6, 2011

People are going to invariably compare this new entry to the ceramic grill lineup to the industry leader, Big Green Egg, so I’ll quickly provide my comparative observations. First, the ceramic on the Vision Pro seems to be a tad thicker than the BGE, and the wheeled nest provides more security against tipping by having higher arms than the industry leader and what may be a wider wheelbase. Finally, there are 3 feature distinctions that attracted me: the calibrated vents that will allow for repeated success for those who will make appropriate notes as to the settings, the fully removable ash drawer, which prevents messes and having to scrape around, and the electric starting port. The first two were real winners for me, but having used the electric starter, and having to deal with an extension cord I may switch to fire-starters. I’m giving this thing 5 stars as a new owner – subject to critical modification down the road – for several reasons. First, the design and user-friendliness of the product jumped out at me, second the price is hundreds of dollars less than the equivalent BGE and accessories (did I mention the cover, grill extension and wheeled nest are included for $699?), and third the company’s responsiveness to my pre- and post-purchase questions and concerns. As one reviewer pointed out, Vision’s web presence was quite droll until just recently when they re-crafted their entire website. But the company’s management team that responded to my questions both before and after I bought this from Home Depot was forthcoming and proactive – they even initiated a call to me based upon an email question, and we spent 20 minutes talking about the product. One last thing, in response to another reviewer’s concern about the product’s warranty: it is my understanding that Vision is going to very soon modify their warranty for all past and future purchasers to match or exceed that of the industry leader. If this comes to pass, it is more evidence of a company committed to aggressively capturing market share from a well ensconced and regarded industry leader. As I said, I’m a new owner, and will add another review as I use the Vision Pro over a longer period. The first few times were great though, and this thing does allow you to control the heat at a steady level.

Check the warranty
3 Star Review   By Giacomo on Home Depot - Aug 29, 2011

Kamado arrived with multiple chips to finish inside and out. Read the mfr waranty, "customer agrees to pay all shipping charges to and from manufacturer for all warranty items." This thing weighs 250 pounds. Go ahead take it to your local post office! You'll pay more in shipping charges than you did to purchase. Un-box it and it is yours, as is!

Vision Grill works as advertised
4 Star Review   By Sparky on Home Depot - Aug 25, 2011

The product arrived on time and is appears to ne a good alternative to the Big Green Egg. I was told about the Vision Kamado Grill by a friend that cooks regularly with an Egg. The only complaint(s) I have are that there was a ding in the ceramics near the ash dump resulting in an obvious chip and there is a nut missing on the shock absorber stop. I need to run to HD to find a replacement. Otherwise, I recommend it.

Great unit compared to it costly similar product.
5 Star Review   By Gator on Home Depot - Aug 20, 2011

It has neat features not provided by a similar product that is much more costly That I was just hours from purchasing, until I walk into HD and my wife notice this new product offered by HD. 1 it comes with side trays vs similar. 2. It comes with nest wheels not extra cost. 3. It has front spring, a heating compartment, and ash tray pull out none by the similar product I was thinking of purchasing. Plus other great features. I smoked cooked flinstone turkey legs, pork chops, steaks and 8 pound brisket. Every one loved it even individual that distasted smoked food. Note these were my first time smoking. And yet to use it as grill or oven. Great job HD in getting this product.
