DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!
1 Star Review   By vetteguy on Home Depot - Apr 3, 2011

Bought the grill after checking it out at the local Home Depot. Took it home to get it ready to smoke some ribs for the family. Durring the assembley i ran out of NUTS AND BOLTS!!! now its just sitting in my yard half way built. I tried calling the manufacture to complain but they were closed for the day! Dont get me wrong, The grill will be a five star only if i had all the nuts and bolts. WHAT A LET DOWN!!!!!!!

Great Grill
5 Star Review   By TimLH on Home Depot - Jan 8, 2011

Bought this grill 3 years ago and is still going strong. Have had to repaint and replace the wood handles and fire grates but the structure has not rusted thru. Been stored outside uncovered. Great for steaks and BBQ. Can smoke approx. 5 or 6 boston butts at a time, 60#. Holds the heat well.

5 Star Review   By BigLarr on Home Depot - Oct 15, 2010

I have been using this unit for the past 10 years not only to barbarcue but as a smoker and I have received nothing but praise from all who has eaten the food prepared on this unit. I went from a propane grill to this unit because I enjoyed the food better using wood pieces vs. propane. The food just taste better. I enjoy this unit so much that I purchase the same one for my son who just got married. I would buy another one for myself when the one I have now goes.

4 Star Review   By FLGhostHunter on Home Depot - Aug 20, 2010

I don't have $1000 to spend on an offset smoker so this one fit my budget! Is it the best built, most durable one out there? NO! But for the price it has got me back into grilling and smoking which I used to love years ago. I had no problems with paint peeling or bubbling until I decided to make a charcoal basket to put in the fire box. I can stack it full of charcoal and wood, drop a few hot coals on the top and let it go for hours without having to add fuel. The problem was, I put chuck wood on top and when it started burning it bubbled the paint. Oh well, my mistake not the grill! They make high temp paint. Clean it up with steel wool and repaint the outside. Inside, just spray it down with Pam, re-cure it and keep on smoking! There are many modifications that can be made to this grill that will help. They aren't expensive and will make you better at the same time. Be creative and check some websites. I owned an older version of this grill and loved it! But I think they made some good design changes, like the charcoal tray in the cooking chamber. Is it built like a tank? NO! But if you take care of it and make some modifications it should last you years. If you are looking for a self cleaning and maintaining grill, this one is not for you.

Absolute disappointment
1 Star Review   By royce0869 on Home Depot - Aug 12, 2010

I've owned the previous brand sold by Home Depot and it was far superior to this one. The metal on this model is thinner, the temperature gauge doesn't read properly, and it takes twice and sometime three times as long to smoke meats. Or you have to use twice as much fuel to keep the proper temperature. I went from grilling and/or smoke food just about every day to allowing this smoker to sit in the garage collecting cobwebs.

Ok but material is lower quality
3 Star Review   By NewSmoker on Home Depot - Jun 15, 2010

Bought this smoker because I read a lot of reviews on making a better smoker without much effort. However, I missed the fact the newer model, this one, is made with lesser quality material and isn't built as good as the model with the wooden front shelf. It works fine, just smoke a pork shoulder and 2 racks of ribs and they turned out great. My problem is, the paint on the firebox is already peeling after smoking for about 15 hours of smoking this past weekend (saturday and sunday) . It's a start but it looks like I'll have to invest in a better quality after I get more practice smoking meats this summer. Atleast I now know I'll want to continue to smoke more meats. So no lost. Just a learning experience. BTW the temperature difference in the cooking chamber by the firebox and smoke stack isn't that bad. Only about 15 degrees . So I smoke the pork for the pulled pork by the firebox and the ribs closer to the center of the cooking chamber.

Now we are cooking!!!!
5 Star Review   By StuDaddy on Home Depot - Jun 11, 2010

This is a great BBQ! I chose this style because I think the metal shelf on the front will last longer than a wood shelf I've seen on other models, and I was not shure about wood and bacteria? I also elected to put it together myself because I saw some of the ones that were assembeled at my local Home Depot. I did have a small problem with a wheel cap that cracked, but the Brinkman Corp corrected that for me at no cost for part or shipping. I BBQ on it every Monday night and some weekends as well. For the price you pay for it, I can't see anyone not being happy.

Excellent
5 Star Review   By bigbrian92 on Home Depot - Jun 10, 2010

Ihave had this grill for about three years now and as you would think I have done a lot of cooking on it, it is a excellent grill I smoke ribs and beef and chicken and fish and I have smoked meat on this grill for up to eight hours and held the perfect temp of 200 degrees for the hole time. the only thing I can say that brinkmann could improve on this grill is the thermostat, I changed mine to a real one and have loved this grill since.

MMM MMM GOOD
4 Star Review   By Shobuns on Home Depot - May 30, 2010

Wow this grill/smoker went together very smoothly, with only 4-5 parts leftover (just kidding) assembly was a breeze, and using the firebox for the coal/wood made for an easily controlled smoker the temp was very easy to maintain and the 13 lbs of baby backs came out YUMMY can't wait to smoke em again. At $199 I thought is was a fair deal, throw in the Veterans discount (10%) and now were talkin great deal on a great smoker. Good Value Easy temp control Looks Cool Friends and family think I'm a P-R-O fessional

Disappointed
1 Star Review   By baldmandee3 on Home Depot - May 19, 2010

Well considering this is a Brinkmann, I was surprised by the lack of quality of the grill. First off, it was shipped UPS ground and came to us very dented and beaten up. The first part of the grill to be assembled, the legs, were dented so bad we had to bend and eventually force the 2 parts together. Ok, so a few dents, lets move on. The FIRST time we filled the smoker box and got the smoker going, the paint started to bubble and peel and fell off onto the deck in ashes. Needless to say, we are very disappointed. First new grill in a long time and now we have to take it to the local store to ship back and wait for something new. Dang! !

Can't use it
3 Star Review   By Loveydoll on Home Depot - May 17, 2010

I received the item promptly. It looked as if the box had been opened and then taped shut. This might explain the parts that were missing. The coal tray was not in the box and some key parts of the hardware were missing. Parts that I need in order to USE the grill. As for assembly, due to small screws and bolts the black surface of the grill is scratched off in places from slips made by my screw driver. I hope the surface doesn't respond that badly to heat. I called Home Depot about the missing parts. The woman I spoke to was patient and professional. However she told me the replacements could take as long as 2 weeks to arrive. I will hopefully be able to write a review of the grill itself shortly after that.

My best purchase to date!
5 Star Review   By Wayngrove on Home Depot - May 7, 2010

Great, great great! I cannot praise this smoker enough, given the price. Some complain it's constructed poorly, but I disagree. I've had it now for a over year and I love cooking on it. I'm in PA and I grill on it year-round. I've smoked, fire box-grilled, and large chamber-grilled, and haven't had one complaint. I even smoked our Thanksgiving turkey last year (had to remove the shelf in the large compartment) and it came out amazing! Assembly was not difficult. The directions list that assembly required 2 people, but being a 32 year old that's 6'2' and 230 lbs., I didn't have a problem doing it myself in about 2 hours. I definitely recommend reading the ENTIRE manual though. Curing a charcoal/wood smoker regularly is key to it's longevity, and the manual includes curing directions. I haven't done it enough, and my fire box it starting to rust over. Another thing I noticed is it seems to cook hotter than most smoking recipes call for. My turkey was done in 1/4 of the time the recipe called for, so you may mess up a meal or 2 while transitioning to a smoker-for-life! Side fire box works great as a 1 or 2 person grill, just make sure you remove the fire box cooking grates while smoking.

4 Star Review   By magicsdad on Home Depot - Apr 17, 2010

This is a nice grill. I've had it for two years. I drive my wife crazy because I get a new grill every year, always wanting bigger. There is plenty of grilling space. I have used it as a smoker and a grill with no major problems. The only down fall is the main charcoal grate ash pan warped. Other than that it is a great unit. It cooks beer can chicken with no problems. So you have a lot of room. Heat control works well. Clean up is easy. There is an access door on the side of the smoker box for feeeding your fire and clean out. Other makers sell the smoker box seperately. Brinkmann includes it.

WHAT A SENSATIONAL GRILL/SMOKER
5 Star Review   By GrandmaB1954 on Home Depot - Apr 3, 2010

My husband is in his early 60's, I'm in my mid-50s. We're the parents of 17 children & have 9 grandchildren. We've owned a lot of grills and a few smokers in our lifetime. I can honestly say that this is by far the best grill/smoker that we've ever owned. We've cooked on this grill/smoker almost every night since it was delivered. The assembly wasn't difficult but it definitely takes 2 people. Because my husband is handicapped it took us both about 4 hours to assemble this grill/smoker because of the tiny little nuts and bolts that were hard to grab with our arthritic hands and fingers but determination paid off. We have smoked a corned beef brisket that turned out to be the best tasting brisket either of us have ever eaten. We've grilled chicken breasts, potatoes, pork chops, pork steaks, smoked some country-style ribs, and much more. We even opened a can of whole kernel corn, poured it into a saucepan, put the saucepan on the warming rack then closed the lid. The corn was crisp-tender and tasted just like corn that had just been sliced off the ear. We were both pleasantly amazed. When we add hickory chips and apple chips to the charcoal briquets, we get an amazing flavor to everything we cook. What we like best about this grill/smoker is the fact that we can cook our entire meal at one time and everything is cooked to perfection. Everything we cook on our grill/smoker is absolutely scrumptious. We've already gotten our money out of this grill/smoker. We are both very pleased and when it wears out, we're gonna buy another one.

Dont buy this grill
1 Star Review   By LeoH on Home Depot - Mar 28, 2010

My last brinkman grill lasted me approx 15-20 years. It was heavy guage steel that you could'nt dent by running over with a truck. This one will not last more than a couple of years. The steel is so thin it is laughable (virtually duct work). Parts were bent or dinged up coming out of the box. They tell you in their manual not to let coals or wood rest on the metal. Hows that for a grill?

Smoke N Pit Charcoal/Grill Smoker
5 Star Review   By LAW3 on Home Depot - Mar 22, 2010

Great! The hardest part about putting it together was removing the labels on the legs. Brinkman needs to upgrade the way the wheels are held on. The first time I rolled it outside the caps came off, I don't think they will hold up. The first time I used the grill I was impressed. The ribs turned out great. I put some brat's and Italian sausage on the warming shelf and they were more than warmed, lesson learned. Overall I am happy with the product. One thing they could improve would be to have a separate liner in the charcoal bin to keep the hot ash off of the bottom. I definitely would recommend this smoker!

5 Star Review   By ConstantLight on Home Depot - Mar 20, 2010

Love this grill! Have been wanting one for years and finally decided I'd put it off long enough. Was easy to put together (do have someone to help you) and easy to use. The attached smoker is awsome. Enough space for meats and vegis. I like the warming shelf for breads and other foods that don't need a lot of heat to cook. Easy enough to clean. Fantastic when the whole family comes over for an afternoon of fun and food.

An outstanding BBQ
4 Star Review   Home Depot

This is my 2nd smoker/grill bbq and they have improved on this model with the warming shelf which I will also use to smoke other meats to increase my capacity. The construction is well done with large hinges, easy handles, and easily manageable grills. The grill design has been improved so it is easier to remove, install, and clean the grills. Especially, if you already have a fire going and/or the grills are hot. My first smoker/grill of similar design has large grills, so it is harder to move or remove them. The smoker box can be especially difficult where the opening is smaller. Assembly was relatively easy and took about 1.5 hours to complete. My only issue was the box arrived somewhat damaged due to transport, but the smoker/grill itself was fine except for a small scratch on the cover due to the transport. If you intend to smoke large items like a turkey or rib roast, then you may need to remove the warming shelf which will require you to remove two nuts and bolts. I wished the manufacturer had designed the shelf for easy removal so we could cook large items more easily.

new grill
4 Star Review   By tsqr26 on Home Depot - Mar 8, 2010

I have been looking for a grill like this for a while and could not pass up this price. The grill came in about 4-5 days after I ordered it. I was able to assemble the grill myself but would suggest that you have someone help because some of the assembly is really awkward. The only issue I had was the lid was bent a little but was easy to fix with a hammer and a few light taps(that is why there are only 4 stars). There is a lot of grill space and plenty of room to smoke just about anything you my want to.
