Would not produce a clean flame.
2 Star Review   By Crispy on Home Depot - May 5, 2013

I was unable to get a blue, clean burning flame. I followed the directions for proper ignition, tried taking it apart, cleaning it, adjusting air flow, etc etc but all I got out of this product was an orange sooty flame. Called customer service, they were very nice and sent a replacement hose/regulator, unfortunately, that didn't help. Returned to store for refund.

Better than expected
5 Star Review   By RookieBrewer on Home Depot - Apr 2, 2013

This cooker works great. After doing the initial paint burnoff (as recommended by others), we cooked up our first 5-gallon batch of beer. It took only about 7 minutes to boil up about 2.5 gallons of cold water. After which, we reduced the heat to a very minimal flame and were still able to maintain a constant temperature. I probably have enough propane left to cook up at least 3 more batches of brew. Can't wait to try this on some large stews.

For the Price it works, but not high on Quality
1 Star Review   By je4tr on Home Depot - Mar 28, 2013

I wouldn't recommend this product, poor directions to assemble and what parts are supposed to be provided. It does do the job, but wish I had purchased another brand.

Great.....If it had been all there.
4 Star Review   By Rath on Home Depot - Mar 5, 2013

The Bayou Classic is well made and effective. Plenty of heat for brewing a 40qt. amount of beer. Enough control with the adjustable regulator. Be careful of the stainless steel braided hose! It had lots of broken wires sticking out. I had to over wrap it to prevent injuring my hands. The gas orifice was missing. I improvised using pipe fittings and a grease zirk.

great burner
5 Star Review   By bryan13 on Home Depot - Feb 26, 2013

I've only used it two times but it works great for brewing beer outside. Read the directions on how to connect and get the optimal flame and it doesn't take long to get water boiling.

Nice burner for homebrewing
5 Star Review   By Jeremy on Home Depot - Feb 12, 2013

Product was pretty much ready to go right out of the box. The manual was for multiple models so that was confusing at first but thats a manufacturer issue not Home Depot issue. Was setup and ready to go in 10 minutes or less and burned the paint off prior to my first brew session. Put out a lot of heat and got to a boil very quickly.

Does the job with ease
4 Star Review   By tmuller on Home Depot - Jan 29, 2013

I use this cooker for frying turkeys and brings the oil up to 350 in not time. It also does not use a lot of propane and has various adjustments to ensure consistent heat and a blue flame. Like the other reviews, the black paint burns off so there is a bit of smoke when you first use it. Other than that, a great product. Easy to assemble. Box that it ships in is too large, so it seemingly shifted around a lot which caused one of the bolts to be temporarily missing...luckily, it was still in the box.

Does exactly what is advertised
5 Star Review   By matt on Home Depot - Jan 22, 2013

Burner works exactly as advertised. The materials used are high quality, except for the air baffle, and that doesn't need to do anything more

it doesn't work as I expected.
2 Star Review   By vnll on Home Depot - Jan 22, 2013

the burner is too far down and it take longer time to heat up. Some thing wrong with mine and I never able to get the cooking heat that I want. It consumes more gas out of the tank just after 3 cooking sessions. I ended up return it and get the one at Academy is cheaper and and work better

HORRRENDOUS
1 Star Review   By CrabbyBob on Home Depot - Jan 8, 2013

Garbage product. Three crab boils and already the gas outlets have begun to clog. There are too few to begin with, fewer than half of the previous model. For that reason, the flame is impossible to control, even inside my relatively enclosed boiling area. "Slo cooking" is all but impossible. To get the flame low enough, more often than not it extinguishes, and requires relighting. Ditto with boiling. The flame oscilates wildly. This unit is complete garbage.

Overall good burner for price
4 Star Review   By brewboy on Home Depot - Oct 3, 2012

Use this burner for brewing beer and frying turkey. Works well doesn't seem to suck a huge amount of gas and good for the price. Just make sure your first burn is outside in a well ventilated area because the paint burns off and makes a stinking mess. Only negative was the box it shipped it looked like someone threw it off a cliff. The one leg was actually sticking out before I even opened it. Fortunately the burner inside was in 1 piece and works fine.

Inadequate for all-grain brewing
3 Star Review   By TimB on Home Depot - Sep 18, 2012

I use this burner with a 40-qt stainless steel pot (with an induction copper bottom) and cannot get my 7-8 gallons of wort above 210 degrees, even when brewing outdoors on a 85-90 degree day. It just gets on the verge of boiling and though I eventually "boil" off the desired volume, it takes longer to do so. I need a bigger burner/more BTUs to get a good boil. Other than that, the stand is sturdy and would probably be OK for extract recipes.

Great for outdoor cooking
4 Star Review   By Pumsey on Home Depot - Aug 21, 2012

Good
4 Star Review   By EagleHollowFarm on Home Depot - Jul 31, 2012

It was shipped quickly, relatively easy to assemble and use, works well and is sturdy and safe (most important) . Now if you'd like to send me a $100 gift card for writing this review, I'd appreciate it. ;) You have my address. Seriously though, it was a little more money than I think it was worth so a few bucks cheaper would be good.

Well built cooker
4 Star Review   By Christopher on Home Depot - Jun 12, 2012

Bayou cooker arrived in the expected timeframe since I ordered it from Home Depot online. Have not used it yet but it looks to be built better than any cookers I could find locally. The base/legs supports the inner burner frame to hold a heavier pot where as the others I saw were not reinforced around the burner area at all.

Great product, lots of heat
5 Star Review   By mgt1 on Home Depot - Nov 19, 2011

Purchased in 2009. Setup was a snap. Still working great after brewing many batches of beer, quick to achieve a rolling boil. Thanksgiving dinner now includes a new food group - soy marinated deep fried turkey in about 30 mins of fry time (plus approx. 10 mins to get the oil to temp)! Great for charring vegetables quickly, like eggplant, over a super hot open flame for a delicious smoke flavor. Good value for the money.

Puts out serious heat
5 Star Review   By Mark on Home Depot - Nov 13, 2011

I bought it to brew beer, and it heats 5 gallon batches to a rolling boil with ease. The instructions are for an older version - the legs are now welded on and assembly takes literally one minute. There might be better ones out there if you need to spend more money. I don't.

A whole lot of fire.
5 Star Review   By MrLarry on Home Depot - Oct 18, 2011

I bought this for my Weber pizza oven conversion. This puts out a huge amount of BTU's. I put a cast iron pie pan on it and it was turning bright orange after a while. Be sure to run it for 20-30 to burn of any paint or residue. Great burner for many purposes. The price was great too!

Works perfect for my purpose (canning tomatoes)
5 Star Review   By MikeMess on Home Depot - Sep 1, 2011

Bought this specifically for canning tomatoes. I use it to boil water to blanch the tomatoes and it worked exactly like I was looking for. It's size is perfect because its design can handle large pots. Although I have only had it for a few weeks, it looks like it will last for many years, and for $50 bucks, you not breaking the bank with this purchase. I even got free shipping.

High Pressure Outdoor Gas Cooker
1 Star Review   By Rich445566 on Home Depot - Dec 6, 2010

This stove does not have enough capacity (btu;s) to cook in reasonable time. It took me 45 min to heat 5 gallons to boiling. The good news is that it can be modified easily by drilling out the input orfice at the end of the hose. After I drilled it out it heated 5 gallons in 10 min. You can control the volume through the valve included.

Poor product quality
1 Star Review   By Nitroxmike on Home Depot - Oct 16, 2010

Burner arrived in box that was in perfect condition, but after opening the box I found that there were missing parts. Completely unusable. Returned to the store and money was returned after taking about 30 minutes. Still wanted the item and ordered it again but shipping was more than the original order.
