Not what I expected
1 Star Review   By Redrider1934 on Home Depot - Oct 11, 2012

Sir or Madam, Crank Handle broke the first time we use it, the plastic part of the handle broke. You would think that it would made of something sturdier then that , especially when the ice cream start thicken while manually turning the handle.

Party Pleasing
5 Star Review   By CKSultan on Home Depot - Sep 18, 2012

I have used this at two parties. Both worked fantastically. The outside temperature has a big effect on firmness of the ice cream. Had to go longer and add more ice and rock salt to make it former when it was outside on a hot humid day. Used hand crank once but electric is the way to go. Many pleased people. Be aware that recipes make lots of servings so invite lots of people or buy more tupperware to store. Tried Strawberries and Cream and Vanilla. Both were great!

Right size, slightly overpriced
5 Star Review   By OldMan on Home Depot - Jul 10, 2012

I ordered this item because of the larger capacity even though it was more money than I wanted to spend on it. Have made 2 batches so far. One cranking by hand and one with the electric motor. Both turned out well. I would have preferred that all the gears had been metal but time wil tell if they stand up to our usage

Great for Family Picnics
5 Star Review   By Thomas on Home Depot - Jun 19, 2012

I took this ice cream maker on a picnic with the rest of my family and we made some of the best peach ice cream. Having the hand crank option was great because we weren't around any electricity, and it wasn't noisy. Using the hand crank is also fun because it gives the kids something to work at and it makes you look forward to the "fruit of your labor." I'm very happy with this ice cream maker's performance.

fun but noisy
4 Star Review   By lynn on Home Depot - May 1, 2012

Have made two batches of ice cream so far. Its pretty easy to but takes longer than the 45 minutes to get any consistency. First batch had to sit overnite in freezer before I could serve it. The machine itself is nice in that it can be used as an electric operated model or hand churned. So far I have only done the electric way. Its super loud so must be churned outdoors ( where it is still loud). Its really fun though and makes delicious ice cream.

Family loves it.
5 Star Review   By ToyBuilder on Home Depot - Mar 25, 2012

I was not sure about buying this based on some bad reviews, but Im glad I did. The motor did stop during the first time we were making ice cream, so I called the company to find out if I had a bad motor. They told me that sometimes the ice gets too hard and the motor cant turn so there's a safety switch that turns off the motor, they said just wait a moment or two and turn the motor back on..and guess what..that WAS the deal..My wife has her own recipes that she uses and she makes the best frozen custard/ice cream with peaches and strawberries with this. My 14 yr old twins love this too. We usually put ot out on the deck and just let it run until tis ready. I've had it since last Octobre and love it.

Great worker. Works well. Somewhat noisy
4 Star Review   Home Depot

The unit arrived on time as promised (typical for home depot) and the instructions were very easy to read. They even include some basic recipes for ice cream that work well. I like the inclusion of the electric and manual churning systems so you can drive the ice cream a little firmer once the motor stops. Not the quietest model around - reminds me of fingernails on a chalboard but you soon learn to ignore the sound. The 6-qt capacity allowed us to make enough sorbet for a crowd of 100 in a single batch. Sure beats some of the cheesier small units for the same price. For the price, this is a very good buy.

Poor Product
1 Star Review   By Kyle on Home Depot - Oct 12, 2011

Our son and his family gave us the Buffalo Tools ICM6 as a gift. We were able to make one batch of Ice Cream before the “star gear” stripped in the electric motor. I called the company, "Buffalo Tools", about a replacement part. Their response was that they don’t stock the star gear but only the upper and lower gears. So in order to fix the machine we have to order a completely new electric motor which they don’t have in stock and could not tell me when they would have it. They asked me to keep calling back and checking. Really?

Used it. Loved it.
5 Star Review   By ms2yyx on Home Depot - Sep 13, 2011

I was skeptical about buying this after seeing the review at the bottom of this page, but I don't know what that guy was talking about. This Ice cream Maker is the best and it will definitely last for many seasons. Even my little girl knows how to operate it now (with the electric turner) and it's one of her favorite things to do with her friends in the summer.

A great product.
5 Star Review   By bluelady on Home Depot - Sep 6, 2011

I love the old-fashioned look of this ice cream freezer. If you follow the directions and have a good recipe, your ice cream will turn out perfect. Included is a web site that demonstrates how to use the freezer.

perfect for church socials
5 Star Review   By Doglover2 on Home Depot - Jun 19, 2010

Bought this for our church and was very pleased with the performance. We have 2 of them now and we make several large batches at a time and no problems. Like that you can use manualy although have yet to try it.

Wouldn't Pay the Price
2 Star Review   By Suebe on Home Depot - Jun 1, 2010

Since this had no reviews I took a chance. I've been looking for a GOOD electric/hand crank ice cream freezer for awhile. This one is plastic, all plastic parts. The hand crank doesn't work at all. The plastic gears strip as soon as you try to turn it - I wouldn't call that "Heavy Duty". The ice cream came out okay, but I doubt this freezer will last the 10 or 12 years my last one did. In the future I would buy a cheap one and only expect it to last one season.

Disappointed
1 Star Review   By jgbw on Home Depot - May 30, 2010

I was excited to receive this product. However the first time I used it the electric motor did not work. I had to use the hand crank for the entire project. Plastic housing is cheap looking. Height of the freezer makes it difficult to use on a cabinet top.
