REVIEW:General Electrics PEB1590SMSS features a combination of microwave and convection oven technology. Like the product very much
5 Star Review   By Loumanb on Home Depot - Apr 12, 2013

I have just ordered a second one after the first had the rotor that turns the turntable break after 6 years like another reviewer did. The part to fix it was under $20 but involved labor I couldn't/wouldn't do as a DYI project. I have loved this oven and the only improvement would be a larger turntable but, as a built in, I have no way to acommodate a larger case if they had one. Never had to change a lightbulb in 6 years so that was never a problem for me. All in all, for me, a great product.

Nice Micro convection oven except for design flaw
3 Star Review   By cruzvan on Home Depot - Jun 1, 2012

We've had this oven for a few years and it is really nice, EXCEPT... the light burned out. After looking at the manual AND contacting GE, we've learned that only a technician can replace the light bulb. How ridiculous! What an unfortunate design flaw!

The features and the range of them make this product an extremely versatile Item.
4 Star Review   By none on Home Depot - Mar 27, 2012

We selected this product because it's similar to our old Oven. Our old oven's rotor gave up the ghost after 6 years of use, but we decided the comparable featues and physical make up made it the choice. It was a GE Profile just as this one is.

A great addition to our kitchen.
5 Star Review   By JZeke on Home Depot - Nov 29, 2011

This unit is easy to use and serves as both a 2nd oven and a microwave. Fortunately we got it right before Thanksgiving and gave it a workout. This is a perfect addition to our kitchen.

GE Profile Microwave
5 Star Review   By drummergirl on Home Depot - Apr 30, 2011

I love this microwave! I cooked cornbread in it and it turned out nicely browned on the top and very moist inside. I used just the convection, I think it recommends using the combo of micro and convect but I am not thrilled with the idea of microwaving everything I eat....but I only have one oven and the intent was to give myself a "second" oven.....still use the micro part as well ;) Great oven! Love it!

Good (but pricey) Convection Microwave
4 Star Review   By MAS12 on Home Depot - Oct 19, 2010

Originally purchased the over the range convection / microwave to go with a new GE Profile PGB975SEMSS range. After taking additional measurements, we realized we did not have enough space over the range for the unit, and switched to this one instead. I was disappointed that the sides and top are black vs. Stainless Steel - we bought all SS appliances and the sides and top of the microwave are exposed (unlike the dishwasher and dishwasher). The unit is also larger than the typical microwave - probably due to the convection feature. All in all we are happy with the unit, despite the color and size. Having the convection for additional cooking capability is a big plus...

Not really worth the high price
2 Star Review   By raganokc on Home Depot - May 12, 2010

I purchased this microwave a a little over a year ago, and although I am happy with it for the most part, I would not recommend it. I originally wanted to replace my old countertop microwave with an over-the-range model until I realized that I did not have enough clearance space, so I opted to go with this one instead. I find that I don't use the convection feature nearly often enough to justify the additional cost. Although it does come in handy for those times when you need an extra conventional oven, the pre-heat time is very long. Whenever I've used it for biscuits or rolls, they always seem to burn on the bottom. And since there is no slide-out rack, removing large items from the hot oven can be both difficult and dangerous. The unit is also very large, and takes up a LOT of valuable counter space. The interior light quit working almost immediately after I got it, and it is NOT user replaceable. The whole machine has to be taken apart just to get to the bulb housing unit. So, if it happens again now that the warranty has expired, I suppose I will either have to live without a light or pay for an expensive service call to have it replaced. The control panel is also a little odd and not particularly "user friendly." Instead of the usual touchpad, there is a knob which must be turned to the desired time, then pressed to set. It takes some getting used to, and every time I have a friend over, I have to give them a tutorial before they can even figure out how to reheat their coffee. Overall, I think I could have gotten a different machine that I would be equally happy with for less than half of what I paid for this one.

Generally very good
4 Star Review

Strengths: Several cooking methods, works like it is supposed to.

Weakness: It only accepts 15 seconds or more. My old Amana would accept 1 second.

I believe this is the best convection microwave for the money. It performs nicely and looks good. I would recommend it to my friends. It is easy to see your food while it cooks. It is easy to clean. I hope it will last as long as my old Amana which lasted 21 years.
