4 Star Review   By Lildab on Home Depot - Feb 11, 2010

I bought this stove at HD in dec 2006....Just love it too death. It looks better then the picture. I love antiques and this fits right in. It warmed my whole 1 bedroom apartment perfectly and the fire is very quiant...But the heater quit on it yesterday, feb. 2010..I live in Florida so it's not like it was in constant use...no replacement parts that I know of. Fire still works though.....I dont know, how long do heaters last anyway?...Buying another one today..;^)

Great little machine
4 Star Review   By JackMick on Home Depot - Jan 29, 2010

I know it's not putting out more heat than a regular small heater, but when you look at the relatively realistic "flames", it seems warmer. I really like it and might buy another.

Cambridge Colonial Style Electric Stove
5 Star Review   By ColdonanIsland on Home Depot - Jan 26, 2010

A recent record breaking cold spell inspired my purchase. As I live in a warm climate and have no need for heaters, I am so excited to have my Fireplace. The flickering fire looks so authentic and romantic, and can be used with or without heat. Imagine! I must say the shipper took less time than anticipated and the box was left cut on the bottom so I just lifted it off and "Voila! " Warmth and Happiness.

I love the look of it, and it puts out a fair amount of heat. The glowing coals effect is wonderful. I hope it doesn't drive up my electric, though.

Great room heater
5 Star Review   By murt21 on Home Depot - Jan 24, 2010

I changed the 2 -40W bulbs that light the flames, to 2-4W nightlight bulbs and it looks just as nice and uses a lot less power. Rolling flames are very nice to look at in the evenings. Fan is a little noisy, but this heater will take the chill off a room quickly so its worth it I'm very satisfied with this heater. Great product for the price.

Fireplace
5 Star Review   By DWCinDenver on Home Depot - Jan 24, 2010

This is a great buy for the money. The flame is very realistic looking and I just had friends over for dinner and everyone loved it. My dining room table is near a heating vent and is annoying for guests when it furnace comes on. This was perfect to warm the room quickly and is very quiet. A couple guest just on the floor in front of it after dinner. The flame is nice to watch even when the heater is turned off.

Electric Stove
5 Star Review   By superhero on Home Depot - Jan 19, 2010

We purchased this last week and have used it everynight. It works well in any room, and puts off good heat. I wish the controls were more easily accessable, which are located in the back. When the heater is on the fan is running, and it can be a little loud. For the price... this is a good product.

Looks Nice
4 Star Review   By CCOH on Home Depot - Jan 9, 2010

I just purchased this item on line since my local store was sold out of them. I got it very quickly with free shipping and was anxious to get it set up. I plugged it in and turned on the flames and I was impressed with the realistic look of the fireplace. It puts heat out but not as much as I was expecting. I was using a radiant heat space heater which is like an oversized toaster where you feel the heat immediately but only directly in front of it. This heater blows the heat out into the room and you do notice the increase in temperature. Overall I rated it 4 stars because it is a good product for a great price.

Electric Heater
3 Star Review   By DH40 on Home Depot - Jan 9, 2010

I purchased one of these about 3 winters ago and it stopped working at the beginning of this year. It would light up but no longer heats. I purchased another one yesterday. It looks great and heats well. More realistic than the one I had before but the fan is louder than the old one and I am not sure I can live with that. I may return it today and see if the larger one is quieter.

I got this stove for my newly finished basement that tends to be colder than upstairs. It warms up the area within 10-15 minutes on high and keeps it that way all day long on the low setting. The cute look also helps to make the room more inviting.

VERY HAPPY
5 Star Review   By HardtoPlease on Home Depot - Jan 8, 2010

I did a huge amount of research before purchasing two of these just before Thanksgiving. We have had one of the coldest Decembers and I wanted to wait to see my electric bill before rating this. They were so easy to set up, just pull from box and plug in. Really great looking, well made, not "cheap" feeling at all. I have a pretty small home and I kept my heat at around 65-67 degrees and since purchasing these have only turned these units off and on, 750-1500 watt, and did not touch my thermostat. I do not hear the heat kicking on but a few times in the morning and sometimes late night. My electric bill was about 100 more kwh used from the same period last year, keeping in mind this has been a very cold winter for us here in north Texas, I have been extremely happy with how warm I have kept with the 2 heaters. In the long run, yes, my bill was a bit higher that over last year, but for the comfort I have had, it has been well worth it. I would recommend this unit highly. How long will it last? Who knows, it's a chance you have to take if you are going to spend any money on a decorative heater. I feel that if I can get through the next 2 years it will have been well worth the money spent on them. I even bought one for a friend for Christmas and she loves it! The ambiance from the "fire" doesn't hurt a thing either. I picked these up at the local Home Depot store after calling and reserving them, and they even went beyond to a store 50 miles away to get me the one for my friend, as they were out of these heaters locally by then. I had an all around great experience with the people at Home Depot as well.

Item is exactly as described. Amazing how flames look so real and really helps for additional heat. I purchased it for 2 handicapped people and was concerned about saftey issues but because of how easy and safe it is to operate there is no need to worry. Am considering purchasing another one.

So Happy !!
5 Star Review   By joverman on Home Depot - Jan 7, 2010

Had been looiking for one, comparing sizes, prices but found this one online and decided to go check it out before buying from another. All the others were black like a woodstove, which was ok, so was shocked and pleased to see it was color of mahogony not the stark black steel look... wanted one because when I run my fireplace in the living room it stops the heater from coming on so the very back bedrooms get cold....so thought this would help and it really did. I love it and the guy I work with is going to go and buy the other two on the shelf today for the same purpose. Yes I know from what others say it has "the artificial fire look"........well come on..!!! it's not a real fireplace but think it is adorable, heats well, love it .

I have this heater, bought it and love it. Use it all the time, even when it is not cold. You can just have the logs burning without any heat coming out. It sets a very romantic mood. Have had three friend buy one as well. I highly recommend it!!!! Great price also.

5 Star Review   By miggiemags on Home Depot - Dec 29, 2009

I just love this fieplace. What a gem. Yes , it will keep a small room well heated and take the chill off larger rooms. But me I just love the ambience. It doesn't get much better that this - the flames are totally realistic. And the price- outstanding. At first I thought the fireplace was too inexpensive too be any good. Well I was so wrong - you will just love this fireplace.

Happy
5 Star Review   By gailc on Home Depot - Dec 28, 2009

We purchased this style and size - only ours has a wood finish- for a transition room between the kitchen and the screened in porch that is not well insulated. We can now use this extra family room all year long! Although it is small, it fits anywhere, is attractive...simply open and plug in. It takes about 15 minutes for the room to fully warm up but we are so happy to be able to use this room again when we have a chilly day. We paid 99. for the wood version - originally was 149. The flame-look adds ambiance - we are pleased!

Not as good as reviews state but worth the money
4 Star Review   By goode2shoes on Home Depot - Dec 28, 2009

I read all the reviews prior to purchasing 2 of these units. We are retired and are trying to use wood fireplaces and these 2 electric fireplaces for all our heat this year. Our home was built by the previous owner, not a contractor. The original part of our home is over 20 years old and the previous owner put on 3 additions himself. A rough total of 1,500 sf home. These heaters do heat an average area of 200 sf but there is no way on earth they will heat more sf than that! So if you are looking at heating a larger area than 200 sf, you would be better off looking into a larger btu unit. Also the heating element and blower are just above floor level so all the heat dissipates prior to warming a 3 ft elevated level (with use of a ceiling fan to keep warm air from gathering at ceiling heighth). The fireplace effects are much better than I expected or read about. Overall a great unit to heat a small, windowless room but not a open floor plan house. I have not received my electric bill as yet so I can't make a statement on if/how much it will save us on electricity instead of using the inadequate central heat pump system in our home.

Great Buy!
5 Star Review   By delandx2 on Home Depot - Dec 26, 2009

This electric stove is not only functional but looks the part of a real wood stove. We liked what we saw so much that we purchased two, one for each daughter living in very cold climates. Good heat production, the most realistic flames that we've seen and is of substantial size so it does not resemble a space heater. Did a lot of price comparisons and this is a great value.

Excellent for the price
5 Star Review   By Kris13 on Home Depot - Dec 26, 2009

It's tiny, relatively easy to move (I can carry it myself with a little trouble, or really easily with one other person), and it heats very well. We'd had one of the other electric fireplaces in our living room for the last year and loved it, so when we completed the "man cave" (read: finished basement/bar) this December, I thought it would be the perfect addition and present for my husband. I was right, it looks great, and it heats well!

A nice looking replica for smaller rooms.
2 Star Review   Home Depot

This heater, like ALL 120v electric heaters only puts out a small amount of heat. From the hugh $1,000+ mantles to the small $10 space models. This is nothing more than a replica with a small electric unit attached to the bottom of it. The reason it is "cool to the touch" is because there isn't any heat coming from anywhere but the small electric box attached to the bottom. If you look at all 120v models you will see that all of them are rated at 4,600 btu's or 1,350-1,500 watts. This is because 1,500 watts is the max used on a 120 volt heater. The only way to get more heat from an electric heater is to go with a 240 volt model. Now, that being said, if all you want is something to heat a small bedroom or office, or just to help knock the chill off, any 120 volt electric heater will probably do the trick. If you like the looks of this heater and don't mind the extra cost then go for it. Just keep in mind that it doesn't heat any better than the $10-$15 models. This is a nice looking replica of an early model wood stove and it does produce enough heat for a smaller room. It also seems to have some good safety features. So if you have a small room and want the look and feel of a wood stove without the cost, this could be for you!

4 Star Review   By yellow16 on Home Depot - Dec 16, 2009

we bought this heater to help heat our living area. we have an older home and our CHA unit doesn't keep it quite as warm as we would like. this heater really knocked the chill out of the room and looks very real. we have had a lot of compliments. only thing we don't like is we cannot run too many things (t.v., dvd, lamps, etc) while the heater is running or we blow a fuse! overall we really like the heater! worth the money.

I ordered 2 of these after reading other peoples reviews. These are the best heaters for the money. They are so nice to look at and everyone who comes in my house thinks they are real. I have had the best comments on these by all who have seen them. What a great gift idea for anyone! I plan on getting more for a few of my friends and family. One of the best purchases I have made and I am COMPLETELY satisfied!!! You will be so happy if you purchase one of these.

Perfect
5 Star Review   By DetroitMountainMan on Home Depot - Dec 13, 2009

Fire and logs look real, nice flame color and glow, door opens, great shape and size for a small bedroom. Switches are hidden under fake iron plate on top of grill surface, very neat. If you always wanted a real one in your room, than this is a great buy, the black color, and brass looking touches really fool the mind into thinking it's real. Burn a candle or bit of paper, and will even smell like it's real. The fan is not too loud, a quiet hum, good for sleeping. It went far beyond my expectations, and am very happy with the purchase. Plug has a ground, so will need extension cord with ground on it, but will go in any standard wall outlet. Can choose to run one or two heater level. If you are looking at this product now, then trust me it's worth the purchase for 99. I am very happy with it, I wish I had it last winter too ! Very cool in the dark !

4 Star Review   By NCPhotog on Home Depot - Nov 12, 2009

Don't expect this to heat your whole house! This will do to knock off some of the chill until I get my REAL wood stove installed. Like the realistic looking flames but if there are no room lights on, you can see the bulb(s) light leaking from the louvers in the back of the unit. Fan is a tad nosiy but you adjust to it after a while.

Warm and Toasty in Massachusetts
5 Star Review   By geisella on Home Depot - Nov 11, 2009

Last year around this time, we purchased one of these adorable stoves. No sooner had we hooked it up and my husband was out the door to buy another one. It heats our master suite beautifully. In fact, it gets so warm, we need to turn the thermostat down. Everyone who sees it remarks about its ambiance and effeciency and I don't have to worry about my grandchildren touching it. My Husband had a stack of left over slate and adhered the slate to a small slab of wood and then finished off the edges. We put the stoves right on top of it and it looks like a real woodburning stove. My daughters have commented about how much they like it, so I just bought two more for them as holiday gifts. By the way, I can't tell you how much we saved on our heating bill last winter, because of these stoves. They don't use a lot of electricity and put the heat exactly where you want it and in the summer when the temperature was 90 we could still enjoy the look of a fireplace. It's a great buy. Don't hesitate to buy one!

bad smell
2 Star Review   By leelalove on Home Depot - Nov 9, 2009

I bought this for an enclosed massage room. It heats quite nicely. The blower is loud, but not as loud as some heaters, and it works as "white noise". The problem is that the flame feature smells bad when activated. Would not buy another one.

5 Star Review   By SwoopDZ2 on Home Depot - Nov 7, 2009

After the boiler heater broke down in my home and expecting temps to dip into the 20's last night, I had to get a space heater better than the two smaller ones I had. I had every intention of going to the local store and purchasing an electric fireplace and spending over $700 since I had been considering them for some time. After going up and down the aisle and reading all the specifications on just about every heater and fireplace they had, a very friendly associate asked if I needed any help. I considered this model for a quick minute but after talking to her and her telling me how she just purchased one and loved it I said what the heck, it was only $100 and I was desperate. The flames are very realistic and comforting. The heat works so well, I'm a bit confused on the earlier reviews that say it doesn't heat well. I have a home that's nearly 100 years old, high ceilings and not the best insulation and it was toasty in here last night. Yes, you can hear the fan but it's no louder than any other space heater, in fact it's less than the tiny one I have. The best $100 I ever spent!!!

Quaint stove - good buy
4 Star Review   By JFlower on Home Depot - Oct 31, 2009

This stove had a difficult trip here and arrived with a beaten up box. But it weathered the journey with a few knicks here and there and actually works great. The hardest set up was taking off all of the tape! It works best in a smaller space, but did warm up our 25 x 25 foot living room a few degrees when we needed it in an emergency. The surface areas don't get too hot either, and will be safe when our grandchild starts crawling. It looks nice and is well made.

This is it! This is the one!
5 Star Review   By MTMTN on Home Depot - Oct 30, 2009

I just bought this stove about 3 hours ago and I just love it. I put it in my family/office room as I work from home and love the fact I can have the flame on with out the heater. It is keeping me warm, I also like the fact the heater turns on and off to keep a consistance heat level. I emailed a pic to my friend in Portland and she is going to get one tomorrow after I told her how much I like it. I may just have to go back and pick up another one tomorrow for upstairs. My Home Depot had 16 on Thursday and today Friday they only had 7. They are going fast!

electric fireplace
5 Star Review   By Stenz on Home Depot - Oct 30, 2009

This is an awesome little heater. Is the second one I have bought. Puts out a tremendous amount of heat for such a little thing. Doesn't take up much space and makes a beautiful atmosphere without having to clean up ashes

Looks nice, easy to use, heater not so good
3 Star Review   By mmcs on Home Depot - Oct 28, 2009

We purchased this stove as a heater for our bedroom that would have the bonus of visual appeal over a standard heater, and ended up returning it after a few days. Based on our experience, I would recommend this stove mostly for ambiance rather than the heater. Pros: The flames are very realistic. The controls offer lots of options (half and full power for fan, and adjustable knobs for temperature and flame intensity). The flames can also be turned completely off while the heater runs (this is something not seen on other cheaper models). Although simple, the appearance of the flames and stove seems to be where your money goes for this model. Cons: The heat output seemed low, even on full blast. If you sat right in front of it, it would feel warm, but didn't warm the room very effectively. Additionally, the heater was pretty loud. I think the noise level would be fine in a family room with a tv on, etc., but in a bedroom it was much too loud to sleep and even distracting while reading.

fan is too loud
3 Star Review   By diyshopper on Home Depot - Oct 24, 2009

I agree with those who say the fan is way too loud when the heat is on. I am returning the unit. I also agree it does not put out a lot of heat. The flames/ambiance is nice, and I like the overall look of the unit, but for $99 I would like it to put out more heat, and I would like it to be much more quiet. I am going to explore other "fake flame electric heater" options. Heck, my cat did not even lay near it! lol. I usually have some soft music playing in the background in my living room, and I could not hear the music over the fan noise.

Electric Fireplace
5 Star Review   By CarolynH on Home Depot - Oct 24, 2009

I bought one last night and liked it so much that we went and bought another one. The first we are using in a basement and the second one we purchased we are using in our living room. The flames are realistic and it gives us more than enough heat to warm our basement.

Great buy
5 Star Review   By kram on Home Depot - Oct 23, 2009

Just bought this today at local Home Depot. Could not believe how easy it is to set up, and how well it works. It heats our (relatively small) finished basement room quite well, and fire looks very realistic and adds wonderful cozy feeling. Would strongly recommend.

Neat Little Stove!
5 Star Review   By Flamer on Home Depot - Oct 17, 2009

I've debated on an electric fireplace for a few years now. Finally picked this little stove up today. It works really great in my 12'x13' bedroom. Definately matches my North Woods log cabin style bedroom suite. I'm absolutely pleased beyond words!

Charmglow stove
5 Star Review   By doberkidsmom on Home Depot - Oct 16, 2009

My dobermans love this little stove, my cats love it! My young male dobe lays with his head under the heater! I really enjoy our stove, I like the ambiance, and the fact that it has two settings, high and how. We've had this stove for close to four years and have been very happy with it.

Perfection
5 Star Review   By Nickee on Home Depot - Oct 8, 2009

After researching a number of brands from a number of retailers on the internet, I found this model. I really liked the style and the price so of course the next step was to check out the reviews. After reading all the positive responses, I could not wait to go to the Home Depot store and check it out. I liked the look of the stove as well as I had in a picture. After getting the unit home I was extremely pleased with the flames and the glowing logs. I turned it on low heat and couldn't move my dog from lying in front of it! I wish you could post a picture because I took a few of him lying in front of it. This stove quickly took the chill out of the room and I cannot wait to see the difference in my utility bill this winter! If you are shopping for a functional, attractive, and alternative heating source for your home...you won't be disappointed with this stove!

for the price, $99, I couldn't pass this up, a no brainer to operate, it heats up my 10x22 bedroom and the ability to have the flames on or off with or without heat, love it!!!

A Genuine Bargain!
5 Star Review   By SurfinRI on Home Depot - Oct 4, 2009

After having read some of the earler on-line reviews, I bought this electric stove/heater on 10/03/2009 and am absolutely delighted that I did. At only $99, this is a really incomparable bargain. The unit looks really great (with quite realistic flame effect); The fit & finish are superb; No assemply is required; It fit into the back seat of my Ford Focus; Was very easy to unpack; Has cleverly-disguised, easy to understand and operate controls; and, Delivers plenty of heat to take the chill off of my 12'x18' living room. Thank you Home Depot - I am very pleased with this purchase and will recommend this product to my friends and family without hesitation.

Bad
3 Star Review   By NotHot on Home Depot - Sep 17, 2009

Bought this heater because of other reviews but I am taking it back one day after it was bought. The fan has a lot of noise and there is not much heat output. The flames look nice and this heater may be alright for a VERY small room(8x10)or to just warm your feet but to save money on your heating bill you are better off with a Kerosene heater.

Top Performer in Price and Function
5 Star Review   By hiroller on Home Depot - Dec 11, 2008

We had been studying similar units for a couple of years as we were intrigued by the life like flames. We didn't want to spend a lot of money as we have a real fireplace and didn't want another large item hanging around...especially if it turned out to be a "loser" in the long run. In November I was in Home Depot for another purpose and came across these stoves. I read all the reviews and decided to make the purchase. This unit is about as small as you would want it to be before being labeled a toy. It provides ambience and as much heat as you will get from a 120AC line. It has good weight, I think 50 lbs, yet is easy to move. We were so pleased that one week later we bought another. They're cheaper in the store $99.00 (no shipping), but store inventory is fairly small (many different styles of fireplaces in large cartons). Like most things you can spend more money on electric fireplaces. You can get units with more metal composition instead of MDF. You can get units with a remote control. Overall however, this unit competes with them all in terms of style, function and value. If you're thinking about buying one you will not be disappointed.

purchased charmglow electric stove
5 Star Review   By POCODOM58 on Home Depot - Nov 16, 2008

i had been shopping around online and at local area stores for a fireplace /stove style electric heater in my area for a few weeks and i happened to see this particular model #166-745 at my local home depot store advertised at $99 each ! for the features it presented on the shipping box i got out my home depot credit card and purchased it and took it home in my van and set it up in minutes. my family and i were surprised by it's great looks, style, generous size and all-around performance, not to mention the operation controls cleverly hidden on the top of the unit. while it won't produce enough heat to keep an average home warm enough during the cold winter months it will certainly allow you to turn down the furnace thermostat down some and use as a supplement to help save on heating oil costs. for the price it is one of the best values you will ever find and certainly you will not be disappointed. we're going back to HD store tomorrow and buy 2 more of these units before they are all gone. they also come with an extra pair of 40 watt candle bulbs required for this unit. i believe for an extra $9.00 you can also puchase a one year extended warranty at checkout.

Really cute heater
4 Star Review   By IreneR on Home Depot - Nov 3, 2008

I bought this for my 3 season room. While I think this heater is very cute and does give off some heat, it's not going to cut it in the dead of winter. It would serve better and look fabulous in a living room or bedroom as an extra source of heat.

Nice stove for a bedroom
4 Star Review   By skipro3 on Home Depot - Nov 3, 2008

I bought this stove using a gift card, a promo card from my cell phone company and a $5 off coupon. In the end, it cost me about $40 so that was great! The stove is nice; real glass and it is very quiet operating. I like how the flame can adjust. I like that the top stays cool and you can place objects on it without fear of burning the house down or small kids getting burned. I like where the controls are; on the top and under a fake griddle lid. Very inventive. Being on the top, it's very easy to adjust and set. I don't have to bend over or kneel down to do that. There are a few things that I would say could be improved; 1. The thing is made out of some sort of particle board painted black. But before it was painted black, it was primered in white. Any scratch in the surface causes the white to come through. During packing and shipping, the factory puts a piece of tape across the door to keep it shut, although in operation, there's a magnet and little metal plate to do the job just fine. When I removed the tape, it removed a portion of paint from the stove. That's when I discovered that it was primered in white. I touched it up with a black Sharpie pen and, unless you get right down there, it did the job of hiding the white. 2. The second thing I would like to see changed is the louvers in the back. For some reason, the back panel is punched with many louvers. I'm sure it's to vent the back, but since the only heat source back there is the two 40 watt bulbs for the flames, it is overkill. The bulbs put out stray light that shines though these louvers and onto the wall behind the stove when placed in operation. This really deters from the effect of the fake flames. I will see what I can do to minimize the stray light, but just wanted to warn people to beware of this. 3. It would be nice if the glass panel was removable for cleaning. I'm concerned that, being made of painted particle board, that when it starts to need dusting, that the finish will wear or be affected by the water. If the glass were removable, at least that part could be cleaned with a water type cleaner without smearing around the details in the door or rubbing enough to wear the paint finish on the particle board. In all, I would say, that for the store price of $99, that this is one of the nicest looking and quietest space heaters I've seen.

Colonial Style Electric Stove
5 Star Review   By cookie6446 on Home Depot - Nov 1, 2008

This is a wonderful stove - you can watch the "fire" glowing without using the heat to make your room so nice and cozy. It heats up our den area very nicely. You can even set an object on the top of the stove without fear of it burning because the top stays cool to the touch. This is worth the buy and am surprised that it's not more expensive. We're buying another one to give to my mom because we love ours so much!

Great little stove
5 Star Review   By LIColdie on Home Depot - Oct 31, 2008

I ordered this heater so I could keep my thermostat low but have it warm in the living room. I could have spent less and just gotten a heater but I liked the looks of the stove. I'm very happy with it. I come home, turn it on and by the time I'm ready to relax the room is nice and warm. In the evening I turn the flame on and although I know it doesn't generate heat the glow just gives a warm feeling. It's not made of metal but it's heavy and looks great. It's also larger than I thought it would be and the fan is very quiet. I would recommend this stove to anyone.

Perfect Fit
5 Star Review   By NoPlaceLikeHome on Home Depot - Oct 22, 2008

I have had an antique mantel in my home for years, with a tile topped hearth that I built to try to achieve the look of having a real fireplace. I've been looking for an electric stove to place on the hearth and landed upon this at the Home Depot store the other day. I couldn't be more pleased with the look! It's PERFECT. I looked at different models at other stores and even online, and all that I had considered purchasing were at least twice the price, but the quality was nowhere near this nice. I am so pleased with this stove, I ordered a full sized fireplace for the upstairs TV room. I can't wait to get it, and know that I will be just as impressed. Thanks Home Depot for carrying a quality product at a very reasonable price.

Love This Stove
5 Star Review   By Cban on Home Depot - Oct 3, 2008

This stove is beautiful. I compared it to others and the price is the same but the quality is much better. Very heavy stove and nice location for controls on the top under the pothole. Seems to heat this small room very nicely. If you can buy it at the store it is much cheaper there. May even buy another.

great heater
5 Star Review   By handyman57 on Home Depot - Jan 2, 2008

bought this for a 15ft by 12 ft bedroom, makes it toasty warm and offers the look and feel of a real fireplace. the only thing we aren't crazy about is that the outside is made mostly of a MDF product that is painted rather than a real metal to resemble cast iron. the multi function fan speeds, temp. control and flame speeds are very nice. have already showed this to friends and family and they are going to purchase one also. great space saving yet heats the room really well.

GREAT LITTLE FIREPLACE AND A SUPER PRICE!
5 Star Review   By THEMILLERRANCH on Home Depot - Dec 27, 2007

Everyone who visits our 1860s colonial farmhouse has commented on the lovely fireplace and asked where it came from. We were faced with $14,000 to open the authentic one or $125 for this lovely little one. Heats a drafty room 20x12 room to 70 degrees as an oil furnace supplement or maintains 65 on it's own. Not a big electric problem. I think our electric bill went up $50 with 2 running constantly on high vs $150-$200 monthly oil savings. It has increased the comfort range of our home as well. I definitely recommend this!

Great product at a fantastic price point!
5 Star Review   By CardiffGiant on Home Depot - Dec 23, 2007

My parents recently purchased an electric fireplace from a specialty store for almost $400 and I was impressed with it. I wanted to add one to my finished basement so I shopped around. I stumbled upon this item at my local Home Depot for only $99! I did a bit of research online and decided to pick it up. I am extremely happy with it. I don't use the heat feature as my basement has baseboard heat but I did test it out and it worked similar to a ceramic heater so I wouldn't depend on the heater for a sole heat source, but great as a supplemental one. The flame effects are fantastic and the unit features a dimmer control which my parents $400 specialty store model doesn't! I think the flames on this unit look more realistic too! The controls for the heat and flame are cleverly hidden underneath a porthole on the top of the unit which is great as similar models have the controls on the back which is not as convenient. About the only thing this model is missing is a remote control but since I placed it near the stairs to my basement, I can turn it on when I come down and turn it off when I head up. All in all an absolute STEAL for the price point and trust me I was doing alot of comparison shopping at other retail stores and specialty stores.

Electric Fireplace
5 Star Review   By Petkitty on Home Depot - Nov 30, 2007

I bought this for my parents who are 89 and 94 years old. Because they like a little more heat then just the house heat. And they just love it !! because it reminds them of the old days and because it looks so real. And they even put and old fashion tea pot on top and a old fashion iron and it looks and works great in there living room!

Very nice, but the heater is not great
4 Star Review   By Jes1234s on Home Depot - Nov 29, 2007

I mainly bought this for the heater. I have it in a small room & it does not add much heat to the room at all. Because of this, I am somewhat disappointed. So, if the heater is the reason that you are considering this item, then I would suggest looking into something else. It does add a little bit of heat to the room, although not enough to get excited about. But, overall I like it.! The flame affect is pretty & it is adjustable. The unit is very simple to use. It looks nice, as it does not have a 'cheap' look to it. It is not to heavy, but is sturdy all the same. And, it can be used year round.

Colonial style E-stove
5 Star Review   By jimt35769 on Home Depot - Nov 12, 2007

We bought this little sweetie last yr on impluse because of its' appearance, mainly. We were surprised (and pleased) by the variety of control options. Then all I did was plug it in! It is operating even as I type this, the ambience of a warm fire that LOOKS like a fire! We would buy another one if this one breaks, but I DO have one minor (very minor) detraction, for those of you who see the glass 1/2 empty. The fan control could be 2 speed so the heat dispersion speed matches the lower range of the thermostat. (Yes, I have an engineering background), but this certainly does NOT detract from the overall excellence of the unit by any means....
