Excellent device
4 Star Review   By braindancer on Home Depot - Jan 3, 2012

Pros: - noiseless (there is a barely-audible crackle when it heats up, but it is really hard to even notice) - stylish - programmable (you can set desired power and/or temperature it should maintain, also a timer) - efficient/fast (heats up a large bedroom in minutes) Cons: - doesn't remember settings when turned off - program only lasts for a limited time that you specify (up to 18 hours) - you can't say "maintain 65 degrees forever" - the LEDs are a bit too bright for bedroom

burned out the electric plug it was plugged into
1 Star Review   By marty on Home Depot - Jan 1, 2012

We purchased the Kenwood electic oil-filled radiator heater in Dec. 2009. Heated the room very well. Plug was always hot so we only plugged it in for a couple of hours on very cold nights while watching TV. This year.2011, we tried using it and found the wall plug didn't work. The electrician said it was probably due to the electric radiator over heating. How do we safely dispose of this heater? This was an expensive lesson.

Kenwood expected, but Honeywell in reality
3 Star Review   By Anne on Home Depot - Dec 31, 2011

I read reviews and find it confusing that the Kenwood name and Honeywell name are both used for this same SKU. The Kenwood seemed like a wise buy, but what we found to actually be available for purchase is the Honeywell! We have purchased the Honeywell from our local store and hope that it is a good product, but only time will tell.

Great for us; you can set the actual temperature to maintain.
5 Star Review   By Maahlun on Home Depot - Dec 20, 2011

Living in a cold climate we use this heater for our wine room to keep it a constant 59F; the room is 11'x11'x8.5'. What is great for us is you set the temperature in degrees and it holds it. Other units are relative settings ie; 1-9 and pick a number. The only other unit I found where you set the temperature had a minimum setting of 65F which did not accommodate our needs. No problems with the unit after 1 year.

2 years in, best heater we've ever had. Tons better than ceramic or dish style heaters!
5 Star Review   By TenaciousJay on Home Depot - Nov 29, 2011

So to help you compare the different types of heaters I thought I'd throw out my thoughts on each of them. We initially tried a ceramic heater but it just dried the air out a ton. It did heat the room, but aside from the dryness it was very noisy and would sometimes wake us up as it kicked on during the night. The only pro was that it heated our room up very quickly. The dish style heater was warm... but only where it was pointed. They will not heat a room up and we mostly used these while sitting in a single spot in front of the TV or while sleeping. They would be great for working in the garage or something like that, but the biggest prob we had was that after a while they tend to "sunburn" you. Our skin would get real dry and our lips would crack. They also have a strong red glow at night which made it hard to sleep (like having a big red night light). The oil filled heater has been our dream heater for the last 2 years. The only cons are that it takes a while to heat up, maybe 30-60 mins, and it won't heat up a huge rooms like large connected family rooms. We have a large master bedroom, maybe about 14 x 27 feet and it works great. We set the timer to turn on from 9 pm to 9am and basically never touch it. It turns on every night and our room is warm when we get ready for bed around 10-11, and then by the time we're gone in the morning it shuts back off. We tried using it in our family room, but it's connected to our living room and kitchen and you can't really tell it's on. We bought a 2nd for another room and tried using both to heat the family room and that still didn't work. I calculated that with a 3rd oil filled heater the cost to run all 3 in an area that big (they'd probably have to run almost all the time) would probably cost as much as running the furnace, so we just use the furnace when we're down there for a few hours every night. We now set our furnace to 59 over night and use this to keep our room warm and it almost cut our winter heating bill in half. Overall this has been one of our best purchases we've ever made. This Kenwood model seemed to look the sleekest, has 2 programmable timers, a remote control, is not noisy, the heat is not dry, and it has saved us money. I would not hesitate to buy one again.

Takes the chill out of the area, but cord isn't long enough.
4 Star Review   By Chris on Home Depot - Nov 22, 2011

I like it alot, but haven't had it long enough to get an electric bill to see if the useage will raise my bill. Using this heater should lower our utilitie's charges because we don't turn the furnace up as high as before we got this unit. Would have liked a longer cord because we can't get it to the spot we had wanted it to sit and company insists on NOT using power strips or extension cords.

4 Star Review   By Kizzy on Home Depot - Nov 15, 2011

I ordered this on line for pick up at my local Homedepot. I had ordered a Kenwood radiator heater, but was given a Honeywell. The Honeywell does work well, but I don't think I will ever order on line for pick up at the store again. Also, my credit card was charged 3 times for this purchase...Homedepot did refund the overcharge, but it took a few days.

Love This Product
5 Star Review   By GaPeach on Home Depot - Nov 7, 2011

I have two of these and love them. I use one in the room where my two dogs are during the day. I use the other one in my living room which is an open room to the kitchen and hall. I keep the doors closed to the bedrooms and the house thermostat turned down to 64. No problems warming up the main area in the house. At night, I move this unit to my bedroom; very toasty. Quiet, odorless, sleek, remote control. My only complaint is the panel needs to backlit, other than that, GREAT product.

Best way to heat your home
5 Star Review   By madurkin on Home Depot - Oct 31, 2011

I now have 3 of these. I can use one remote to control all 3. Keep it at one temp during the day and just walk around and reduce the heat on all 3 for the night. It's worth having to do that to have the comfort this heater gives us. No TOO COLD and then TOO HOT, just even temp all the time. Quiet, not dry heat and doesn't take up alot of space. Be sure to place them by the coldest windows in the house for best performance. I've had them for 3 years now and they are getting set up now for the new winter season, year 4. I live in Georgia so not sure how well this would work further up north. I don't think it should make any difference.....

Great Unit
5 Star Review   By DanK on Home Depot - Oct 31, 2011

Pros: Heats entire room (312 square feet with no other source of heat) Digital thermostat Plug it in, set it up, leave it alone Virtually silent Energy efficient On and off timer Minimal maintenance Overheat protection Reomte Control Sleek Design Anti-Freeze setting Cons: Display could use a backlight for easier viewing Does not say what the current tempature is I was originally looking for this exact heater in stores but could not find it. After some research I found that it is made by De'Longhi and they have the exact same unit (Model No. EW7507EBL) without the Kenwood name on it for $10 cheaper...so you're paying an extra $10 just for it to say Kenwood on it. The unit works great. I am using it in a 312 sq ft room (despite the specs saying 144 sq ft) without any central air and it heats the entire room up great (so far the tempature has been as low as 20 degrees outside). I leave the unit on 24/7 and have had no problems with it. However, the heater does include a feature that lets you set when you want it to turn on and off so all you have to do is set it once (easy to do just refer to the manual) and it will heat only when needed. The digital thermostat is also a plus, you set it to the tempature you want and once it has reached that tempature it will shut off while still radiating heat to help maintain the current temperature. If the tempature falls below what you have set it to it will turn back on. The unit is virtually silent, all you hear is a slight click when the unit adjusts the setting from high to low (energy saving feature, as the tempature warms up the unit automatically adjusts the setting from high to low which makes a very quiet click). In other reviews I've read it doesn't turn off without unplugging it which is false, it does have an off setting which is also explained in the manual. The design is rather sleek so it doesn't look out of place. I have also read in other reviews that the cord length is too short however it seems to be plenty (almost 6 ft long). Another cool feature on this model is the Anti-Freeze setting which allows you to set the unit only to come on to prevent freezing temperatures. As other reviews say the display is slightly difficult to see since there is no backlight but it's not enough to deter me from recommending this heater. The only other downfall I've noticed so far is that it doesn't say the current temperature which is a feature in other models.

The best space heater EVER!
5 Star Review   By WarmAndCosy on Home Depot - Oct 25, 2011

No exposed heat coils, silent, energy efficient, and the thermostat can be set to the desired temperature. Excellent for heating single rooms. As the area approaches the set temperature, the heater automatically switches to a more energy-efficient mode. If the room reaches or exceeds the temperature, the heater automatically reverts to a "hibernation mode" until it's required...just like central heat, only this can be set for a single area. Perfect for that time of year when air conditioning is necessary in the afternoon, but it cools down enough to require heat in the middle of the night.

A good radiator, but not energy efficient
3 Star Review   By Tess on Home Depot - Oct 25, 2011

The radiator arrived quickly and it was already set up for use. We haven't figured out all the settings of the remote control. It starts heating very quickly, but as soon as it is plugged off, there is no heat left in 5 minutes....I was hoping that the oil would keep the radiator warm longer, but it doesn't. It would be good only for a small room and plugged in continuously.

A gas bill lifesaver
4 Star Review   By cayatana on Home Depot - Oct 4, 2011

A great buy for the money! I've had this heater for 2 winters now, and I love it! I keep it in my bedroom and program it so that it heats up the room at bedtime. I can keep the heat in the rest of the house low, which saves a lot of money. Only complaint is this heater isn't ideal for open floor plan spaces (LR/DR/Kitchen), you'll still need something that forces more air out.

Excellent heater!
5 Star Review   By Alak on Home Depot - May 16, 2011

This is a great heater. I got it to save money on my electric bill because the baseboard heat in my home is extremely expensive. When I got this heater I noticed it kept my home warmer and a more consistent heat then the baseboard heater. And it costs a lot less money to run! The heater does a really good job of spreading the heat across the house. I keep it in the front of the house in the living room but it heats the entire 600sq.ft. house even the very back bathrooom that is always cold. I am very happy with this product.

Absolutely Amazing
5 Star Review   By MaNY on Home Depot - Apr 30, 2011

I've recently purchased this item for my kid's small bedroom. I've set it to maintain a constant room temperature during night time and it does that exquisitely well. Pros: Electronic timer that allows you to set a time of operation for the heater to automatically maintain the desired room temperature. Cons: I only wish that one could program different temperature settings for the two available programs because as it currently stands, you can only set one operating temperature for both program settings. Other: The "click" that some people have complained about is audible but is very soft and should not disturb anyone's sleep unless you hug your heater while you sleep. Important: When initially turned on, be sure to set the temperature to max and run the heater for ~4 hours to burn off the odor that is present. All in all, for the price you can't beat this heater. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Does the job but...
3 Star Review   By MommaGoose on Home Depot - Apr 30, 2011

...there are a few features about it that I'm not thrilled with, mostly related to the display. The temperature is impossible to read in anything but bright light. The print is small and black on a fairly dark background - backlighting would be helpful. Also, every time you plug it in, it defaults to 95 degrees and you have to clickclickclickclick the down arrow (you can't just click and hold) to get the temperature down to a reasonable range. Would be nice if it defaulted to a more average temperature of, say, 75 and then you can go up or down from there. Finally, the thing is just about impossible to move unless you pick it up. The wheels don't move well on carpet and then when you try to drag it, the wheels fold up and the thing becomes unstable and tips over. As far as heating a room and maintaining a temperature, it does the job quickly, quietly, and well.

Great for RV
5 Star Review   By simonsaysiam on Home Depot - Feb 23, 2011

Using this to maintain temp and control moisture in 23' Travel Trailer. Works great for purpose and eases my mind during cold snaps. Much safer than ceramic or propane heater, and far more efficient than using the RV heater. One thing not spelled out in the specs: the "anti-freeze" function maintains the temp at 42 and utilizes the eco-mode (lowest power mode as required to keep >42). When temp is above 42, heater stays off. Also, power loss control is limited to 2 minutes. Anything over 2 minutes and you have to reset mode/temp/etc. Oh, and they wanted 5 bucks more in-store than on-line. Take a print of the on-line price and they'll match it. Nice piece of gear, and made by DeLonghi. Good luck!

Great for bedrooms or low-traffic areas
5 Star Review   By drewya on Home Depot - Feb 19, 2011

My wife and I purchased one of these heaters about a year and a half ago when we were living in a rental that had poorly designed basement ductwork. It did a good job heating our basement bedroom in that house. We have since moved to another place and purchased two more of the heaters. We usually keep them in our three bedrooms, but we frequently move them to other areas of the house when we want a little extra comfort. This oil-filled radiator heater is superior to many others because of the wheels and the digital programming capabilities. The wheels are pre-assembled and just pivot outward when you unpack the product. On some other heaters of this type you have to attach the wheels to the radiator. Also, having the two available programs allows you to set the temperature to different levels depending on your needs. The only negative is that there is no backlight for the digital display, so it is a little hard to read unless you have good lighting. In general, though, we've been very happy with the product!

I bought this heater to heat a area of my house that is cold in the winter. It works great and I love the programable timer. Works fine, but
4 Star Review   By nphotogr on Home Depot - Jan 24, 2011

The heater does what it is designed to do. Keep an area warm. I have a bedroom 12x17 with an adjacent master bath that always seems rather cold in the winter. Possibly a blocked central heat vent in the bedroom. Too cold to check that out now. I have used the heater since the first of December 2010. It does keep the bedroom rather toasty and luke warm in the master bath. This past two months have been brutally cold in Ohio ( 4 degree to 30 degree temps. Mostly in the teens.), This heater did a good job of keping the bedroom quite comfortable. We keep the tempature setting at 75 degrees on the heater and use it only when we go to bed. Our central heat furnace keeps the rest of the house warm but we set it to a lower setting at night when we go to bed since using the heater in the bed room. Some nights we do have to drop the temp. setting down to 70 as it does get toasty. I do feel safer leaving it on at night as it is an enclosed unit with no chance of causing a fire like regular space heaters do. The power cord never gets hot to the touch which is a plus. As far as power usage, it does increase our electric usage. About $30.00 a month this last two months but then again, we have had really low tenperatures here at night and most days. We never used it on the timer settings and do not have any anoyances with the reported noise it makes when it turns on. The remote is a nice addition when you are in bed. Over all, a good investment. I also noted we don't use as much natural gas as we did last year to heat the home but the savings was lost due to Duke energy raising their gas rates.

Space heater
5 Star Review   By elel on Home Depot - Jan 22, 2011

I purchased two of the radiator heaters and was pleased with their performance, I purchased a third one for my sister. Two of the features that I most appreciate are the heating capacity and the almost inaudible operating system. I placed one upstairs and one downstairs in my living area and am amazed how effectively they keep my home warm. I would recommend this product to everyone.

Limited programs and loud clicking noise
2 Star Review   By Tarifa64 on Home Depot - Jan 6, 2011

I initially bought this unit for a bedroom. I was attracted by: - the ability to increase power while heating up, and modulate power afterwards based on needs. - the integrated timer and the perception I had you could set a different temperatur for each sheduled time sections. It turned out that the timer is limited to 2 programs (meaning 2 on/off cycles), BUT the temperature cannot be set for each cycle. So this turns into a heater with a very limited timer. For the same price, you can get a simple heater and an advance programmable timer! Plus, the unit makes VERY LOUD CLICKING sounds! I am returning the unit ASAP

Good Product, Could be better
4 Star Review   By MillingtonMan on Home Depot - Dec 26, 2010

I like that you can set the timer to come on and shut off the heater and that it automatically adjusts its setting between 600, 900 and 1500 watts to heat the room. I have seen mine run automatically at the lowest setting most of the time. Improvements suggested is that it could show the current room temperature, have a backlight on the display or a better contrast (display is hard to read because of poor contrast and some of the info displayed is too small). The rollers on the bottom could have been engineered a little better. Overall a good buy.

Almost Perfect
4 Star Review   By LukeCastle on Home Depot - Dec 24, 2010

I like the convenience that it automatically turns on an hour prior to the time I get off work so my room would be all warm when I get home. Only downside is that it's missing a backlit and current room temp display.. All in all I still love it...

4 Star Review   By ypsi on Home Depot - Dec 24, 2010

About 1.5 months ago I was shopping at H. D. And an employee came up and highly recommended this product to me, because he had one. He answered all my questions and I purchased it. I now have my house temperature set at 63 deg. I have this product down in my finished basement were I hang out the most. It heats the whole room and is very comfortable. I gave it a 4 only because I need to compare gas and electric bills for the winter.

Not as good as it use to be - but it works.
3 Star Review   By LomalindaProject on Home Depot - Dec 22, 2010

I bought this unit because I have an older model that was a life saver. I thought the new one would be better. Well new is not always improved. This unit is smaller but seems to put out the same amount of heat. Keep in mind oil heaters are not the quick fix, but they are much safer, no noise is a plus for me (Yet this one has a popping sound until the oil heats up). Also keep in mind the temp control is off by about 5 degrees so what you set it to is not what you get across the room. I like the idea of how it drops the power down based on the room temp (when it gets it right) to help save on the power bill as well as the timer. I set it to turn on before I get in and off when I leave so I never have to turn it on or off. Over all it is a good unit for a small to midsize room. Works best if you have a ceiling fan that can help push the hot air around.

Great Heater
4 Star Review   By Sunslip on Home Depot - Dec 21, 2010

I've only been using it a few hours, but it works great so far. As others have noted, the display is difficult to see, but it's better than having yet another glowing electronic device in my living room. One minus is that it doesn't have an off/on switch, and if you unplug it, you will need to reset the clock and timer controls. But it heats, and doesn't get too hot to touch, and is silent. I did not have the initial odor problems that others had, either, although the manual explains what to do if you do.

Good Heater
4 Star Review   By BuyerOvStuff on Home Depot - Dec 13, 2010

This heater heats up a small room quite well. It makes a noisy click sound when it turns on which may disturb light sleepers. I like the timer feature; I set it to come on at 5am and go off at 9am. The display is very difficult to read since there is no backlight. I've had to get on the floor and tilt the heavy unit backwards a bit just to be able to read most of it. The little AM/PM at the very top of the display is almost impossible to see. I simply guessed which one was AM and which was PM (I got it right). The unit emits a very horrible odor for a few days after the initial use. The odor gave us headaches, so we ran the heater in another room for several days till the odor was more tolerable. The manufacturer should run these units at the factory to burn off that smell before selling them. It's easy to roll around the room; however, the electrical cord is very short, so it does not go far. It's also heavy, so carrying it up/down stairs is not pleasant. Instructions say do not plug into power strip and do not use in bathroom. I like the remote feature; you can turn the temp up/down from your chair or bed without having to get up. Bottom line, I'm pleased with the unit. Took off stars due to the awful odor and the difficult-to-read display.

4 Star Review   By bpaw on Home Depot - Dec 12, 2010

This is a great heater. I have 2 of them and I haven't been able to find one as nice for the money any where else. I have only the one complaint that has been stated before....the digital readout doesn't have a back light, or, like some others, lit numerals for the temp setting. It makes the remote a little useless. The setting can't be seen unless it is lit by an outside source. Otherwise, it is a great heater.

Cannot see settings
3 Star Review   By NavyCorpsman on Home Depot - Dec 6, 2010

This heater does work very well. I bought it because it had the remote control. Yes it does work well, but, you there is no back light to see the heater or clock setting on the unit. Unless I am missing something here. I have to turn on the lights and set the heater to the temperature I want. It drives me crazy. If they had that one feature I would give this heater 10 stars, but no. One has to light up the room, and then adjust the heater to where you want it to operate.

Wonderful heater!
5 Star Review   By Mom2EandO on Home Depot - Dec 6, 2010

I've been using this for about a month and I love it. It is silent except for the little click it makes when it cycles back on. Great for a kids room. Also great that it has a digital thermostat. Makes it so easy to keep the room just the right temperature. I use it in my son's room, and I'm back online today to get another one for my daughter's room. Our house is only 2 years old, but the rooms over the garage get a little chilly at night. This is a great solution! It is safe to touch when it's on, which is nice when you have kids. We had the Lasko 1500 watt tower heater before this and it was awful. A very loud fan, and the room was always too hot or too cold. I was uneasy having it around kids too.

KENWOOD Model EW7507EBK
4 Star Review   By Pioneerman on Home Depot - Dec 6, 2010

We use this heater daily and are amazed at how effectively it works. Keeps our room very comfortable even when the temperature drops below 30 degrees. We have also noticed that the furnace doesn't run nearly as much when the KENWOOD is on. Wish the digital information was lit for easier visibility. Great product for the money.

BEST PORTABLE HEATER EVER
5 Star Review   By nglett on Home Depot - Dec 3, 2010

I bought a Kenwood 1500 heater last year when my ac/heat unit went out. Best investment ever. It will keep you toasty warm even when it gets down in the 20's down here in North Florida, and thats saying something, as I get cold when it just drops into the 50's. And it Doesn't run up your electric bill like other portable heaters do. I Love this heater and would buy another in a heartbeat. Thanks for making a great product!

great heater
5 Star Review   By seattlejohn on Home Depot - Dec 2, 2010

We bought an older version of this heater three years ago when we lived in an apartment. We just moved to a larger house and we are planning on getting two more so we have one on each floor. The heater is fantastic. We use it in the bedroom during the night and move it into the office or living room depending on where we are spending time. It keeps the rooms warm and toasty. The heater is easy to roll, but annoying to carry up and down stairs.

Not bad
4 Star Review   By homedeepoe3 on Home Depot - Nov 29, 2010

Got this baby about a month ago. Has been working great, but the main reason I got this was because of the remote. I had another oil-filled and would have to get up quite often to adjust the temperature, not so with this one, the remote is A+. If I feel like it's not warm enough, just hit the remote from bed. For me it is worth it for this feature. Quiet operation, makes no noise, light weight.

Excellent choice
5 Star Review   By westseattle1964 on Home Depot - Nov 27, 2010

Love this heater. The thermostat feature is amazing and this unit heats my entire apartment (1000 sq ft). There was never a weird smell and I don't mind bending down to be able to see the display. Operates quietly when switching on and off. Highly recommend this powerhouse heater. Haven't received a heating bill yet so can't address user economy. Fab heater, sleek look, quick to heat, top notch.

Great heater, looks good in any room.
5 Star Review   By eagleeyecomputer on Home Depot - Nov 26, 2010

Does a fine job of keeping a garage of 20'x25 (500 sq. ft.) at 70 degrees. Haven't tried warmer, but when it's on full (3 bars), it uses twice the power consumption than the dish-type foot-heaters. Even mid-power is 8amps compared to 5amps of my electric radiator on max. My first measurements with oil heaters tells me they may not be as green as one might be impressed. Probably best for a room that would normally have the electric heater running most of the time anyway. The digital display is difficult to see. Timer is nice. Remote control might be handy for those with mobility issues or if nearby the bed. Feels very safe. Never gets hot enough to melt or burn. But of course, read the manual and safety guidelines. There was a short period where a distinct oil smell came from the device, but it's since gone. Works for my situation and a product I expect to last me many years. So 5*s it is.

works well until...
1 Star Review   By drunknbass on Home Depot - Nov 25, 2010

I had no problems with this unit until it overheated on itself 3 weeks into owning it. What they DONT tell you in the description is once it overheats its useless. Its great to have a shutoff like most heaters do, but most will turn back on after they cool down or require you to flip a switch etc. this unit requires you to visit a service center to repair it. Im sorry but i refuse to pay $ to have my heater reset because it over heated. This is very common. I will not buy this unit again because of that 1 reason. The money i wasted on this would probably be the offset in electricity saved over a traditional floor heater (which most all dont break themselves on overheat). And another thing. Yu are supposed to unplug the unit when its not in use, but doing so resets the clock and timers. They are pretty much useless anyway because they are simple on/off timers and dont allow you to control temp (eg. 90 at start 70 at end).

It's OK
3 Star Review   By tmda on Home Depot - Nov 13, 2010

PROS: Like most oil-filled radiators, this product provides a very steady consistent heat that doesn't allow the room temperature to fluctuate several degrees between cycles (as would happen with a ceramic or other type of instant space heater). It is also safe, quiet, and has no problem heating my apartment on a cold night. CONS: I bought this product because my old oil-filled radiator (a Warm Fusion model), though it worked very well, only had manual controls and it was a guessing game what to set it on every night. I had to use an independent digital thermometer to regulate the heater, sometimes in the middle of the night. I thought the digital thermostat on this unit would eliminate that problem, but that isn't the case. The digital temperature on the unit is very inaccurate. It was 72 degrees in my apartment (according to my accurate digital room thermometer) and the unit was still cycling on when I set it to 65 degrees! Furthermore, on a cold night, I have to set the temperature warmer on the unit to maintain the same room temperature. Thus, setting this thing at night will still be a guessing game. But, I guess it was unrealistic to expect the digital thermostat to be accurate on a portable heater. Another issue I have is with the remote control. Although it's always great to have a remote control with ACs/heaters, I wish this one had more features. I like to always set the unit on the lowest power setting for safety reasons (unless it is really cold out), but when I adjust the temperature using the remote, it automatically puts it back to the 3-power option (where it automatically chooses which of the 3 power settings to use). Thus, I have to always adjust it from the base to set it on what I want. And one more thing, like many reviewers have mentioned, the digital display needs a backlight! I have to use a flashlight to see it at night.

Warm at last!
5 Star Review   By Dockster on Home Depot - Nov 13, 2010

This heater is far superior to those which incorporate a fan to move the warmed air... our previous heater (which had a fan) created quite a bit of dust throughout the room where it was used. Now we are at last both warm and dust-free, and this makes my wife one happy camper! I give this item the highest rating possible and recommend it to all. Doc

Exceeded my expections but a few design flaws
4 Star Review   By HappyCustomer3 on Home Depot - Nov 7, 2010

Box said it can be used in a room that has a maximum size of 12 x 12, or 144 square feet. It kept our 16 x 18 master bedroom as well as the adjacent 9 x 12 master bathroom (396 square feet total) warm last night when temps were down to about 35 degrees outside last night. We had the thermostat for the house set to 64 degrees and use space heaters to keep the bedrooms warm at night. Our house is only 6 years old and is well insulated. I doubt that it would have been able to keep up with heating that much space in an older more drafty house. Still heating an area more then 200% larger than the specs said it could do was a pleasant surprise. It does make a clicking noise when it kicks on and off, but I didn’t think it was very loud at all. In fact since I’m so near sighted, I can’t clearly see the display panel from a distance. The clicking let me know about how long it was running, so I liked having that function. Although I would strongly recommend this unit to others, there are a few reasons I am only giving it a 4 rating instead of a 5. The display is hard to read unless you’re kneeling down on the floor and looking at it head on, especially the AM/PM indicator. It would have been better to have angled it upward so it could be easily read from a standing position. I also don’t like the fact that the power cord attaches to the unit at the front instead of the back. It wastes about 1.5 feet of the cord because it must run the whole length of the unit before the usable part of the cord (what’s left over) can reach to the wall. That’s not much cord left if you’re trying to plug it into an outlet behind a bed or dresser.

Does what it's supposed to...
4 Star Review   By MoeMan on Home Depot - Oct 28, 2010

We bought the older model and liked it enough to purchase the new one as well. We use them for our children's rooms (infant and toddler) during the night time hours when the rest of house is turned down. The safety aspect seems excellent as they do not get very hot and they seem to do a good job of maintaining a consistent temperature in the room. The timer function is nice since you can set it and forget it. A few things I don't like are difficulty in reading the display - particularly the AM and PM indicator. The display is slightly angled upward which recesses the top pretty far inward. Meaning - your eye has to be even with or lower than the display to be able to read it. Then there is this "awning" affect so there is always a shadow cast on this area of the display. This all just means that whenever I'm making time adjustments I break out the flashlight and get down on all fours to do the job. Also, the on/off cycling as it's maintaining temperature comes with a loud "click" which used to wake up our daughter until she got used to it. Same with the buttons - they are VERY loud so making a temp adjustment while she is sleeping runs the risk of waking her up.

Reliable and safe
5 Star Review   By dhurley on Home Depot - Oct 22, 2010

I have the old model as well as 2 of these new ones. All work perfectly and are very, very safe. Does not add to the condensation in the room like a ceramic or other type of heating element would. It is slow to warm up but then stays that way for all the time its needed. This is one you can set and forget. It will do exactly as predicted and the room will be perfectly warm. I use the 2 digital ones in grow rooms. They are perfect for the job.

Pretty good heater
4 Star Review   By JClion on Home Depot - Oct 21, 2010

I dont really have anything to compare this heater to but I gotta say it's pretty good if you will use it in a closed room. It wont do much if you use it in a big open space. It heats up the room very nicely. Only negative i can say about it is that you always have to unplug it if you are not using it then reset your desired temperature when you want to use it again. Other than that pretty good product.

AWESOME HEATER!!!
5 Star Review   By GHMom on Home Depot - Oct 6, 2010

I have the older version of this one. We got it three years ago because my son's room gets cold at night, we now need another for our Daughter's room and I'm headed out to pick it up tomorrow. It's been a great heater and is COMPLETELY safe around children. They tend to want to touch the buttons, but it's just one of those things that you have to be on them about touching. It's warm to the touch, but not HOT. I love this heater because it's silent. It can be used in a child's room and it doesn't have a fan to keep them awake. I keep ours on the lowest setting at 68-69 degrees and haven't notices a dramatic change in our power bill. I keep it on 24/7 in the winter and keep their bedroom doors shut then it'll shut off when it gets to the set temp. I HIGHLY recommend the digital over the non-digital. MUCH better than guessing what degree your heater will actually be set at. Hands down...spend the money, you won't regret it. Kenwood nailed it!

works well
5 Star Review   By bpaw on Home Depot - Jul 25, 2010

I am retired and it is just my wife and I living in a large ranch home. Our propane costs have increased dramatically since my retirement. We have 2 of this brand of heater in our home so we can turn down (or off) the furnace at night and heat our bedroom and the adjacent room where our 2 parrots live. It is much cheaper to heat individual rooms at night instead of the entire house. I have used several other heaters including the ceramic and oil filled. The oil filled are the best but this model has more features and a remote than the others. We have a large master bedroom and it keeps this heater keeps it quite comfortable in there and we don't have the noise of the fan running on a ceramic heater disturbing us all night. It will warm a larger room than the specs say. I live in Michigan and we do have some very cold temps here in the winter.

Efficient and Safe
5 Star Review   By Shula on Home Depot - Jan 23, 2010

I originally purchased this Kenmore heater for two reasons - we needed a source of heat and my daughter was a toddler and I wanted something safe. I found that, unlike another brand I tried, the way this oil heater is constructed you can touch it and not get hurt or burned. Depending on how hot you have it set of course! I tend to keep ours between 65 and 70 degrees. It's thick (1/2 inch each?), smooth edging (as opposed to flat 1/16 or so edges on other oil heaters) also eased my mind concerning my daughter. I also found that these heaters are significantly more efficient than the forced air heat in our home. I recently purchased two more (for a total of 4) throughout the house. Maintaining heat instead of consistently drawing it also saves energy - so, to that end I hope to see a reduction in our electric bill since no one particular heater will be 'drawing' so much in order to maintain the temperature. We'll see! :) This would make a nice addition to a basement room.

The heater is awesome for heating up the converted third garage "office" in the winter. I especially appreciate the TIMER CONTROL feature. I can program the heater to warm up that area so it is nice and toasty by the time I enter for work. Our household is so happy with this purchase, we bought another one to keep on "low" heat to heat our bath towels before and after our shower. Great comfort ~ Why didnt I think of this before??

Good heat source
5 Star Review   By cochise on Home Depot - Jan 6, 2010

This product was purchased as an alternative to heating my entire condo to a comfortable 75 degrees. I use it in the bedroom and can thus lower the heat in the rest of my condo when I go to sleep. It's a quality unit with three settings that automatically seek the desired temperature and then lower the setting to maintain that temperature. I expect the unit to pay for itself in the first winter's use. The heat produced is not that dry heat produced by the hot air system my condo has so It is much more comfortable.

Kenwood heater
5 Star Review   By SomersetDave on Home Depot - Jan 2, 2010

After a fair amount of research I purchased this heater to use in a 12' x 12' shed that serves as a dog house in cold weather. I've installed a dog door into the shed so the dogs can come and go as they please. My main concern was fire hazzard and I think this heater is about as safe a heat source as there is. We've only had a few nights below freezing since I put this in - still nothing in the teens to really test it - but it's definitely warmer in the shed than it is outside and I usually find the dogs in there on the cold mornings. I set the thermostat at 50, just to keep the chill out of the shed, and haven't changed it since I installed it. As some reviewers have noted, it's a pain to see the LED display to change settings but since I'm in a set it and forget it mode it's not an inconvenience for me. I may consider getting one of these for the house as a room heater. It seems to do a very good job for what I purchased it for.

4 Star Review   By natjaye on Home Depot - Dec 21, 2009

The heater works perfectly, heating up a 200 square foot guest cottage with tile floors and little insulation. The space is warm in no time. We are very pleased and plan to purchase another one for the main house. I haven't tried the timer yet.

Decent, but only...
3 Star Review   By Coachhunt on Home Depot - Dec 19, 2009

Not the best heater if you have a large room or high ceilings. May take this one back to get something that covers a bigger area.

Heating a Room
5 Star Review   By Myarkangel on Home Depot - Dec 18, 2009

If you are familiar with baseboard heaters they don't heat a room well. My girlfriend read Kenwood oil heaters are energy efficient, portable and offer a remote. So I bought two heaters. Score 1-10, 10 the highest. Features: " 9-out-10 " No backlighting for digital screen Heating: 10-out-10 Portability: 10-out-10 Cost: 9-out-10 User Friendly: 8-out-10 Works great in any room size, the manual is bit confusing. Setup and programming easy but read the manual. Freeze: No backlighting, would have made reading the digital screen much easier. Recommendation/Buy again. 100%/Yes. I gave my girlfriend one for Christmas 2009. Like to buy one more but Home Depot sold out.

Best oil filled heater!!!
5 Star Review   By gasman1 on Home Depot - Dec 5, 2009

I purchased this heater last winter and I am very pleased with the heater. It warms the room up toasty warm and it is very quiet. I also like the automatic temp control that switches on and off and also automatically switches the power setting from 1500watts to 900w to 600w depending on how cold it is. I like the fact that it switches on and off automatically to save $$, the oil stays warm for 5 to 10 mins so it doesn't have to stay running all the time. It also has timers to turn it on and off when your not home. I'm also impressed at how well built it is, it doesn't feel cheaply made like the honeywell that I also purchsed somewhere else. For the price you can't go wrong, I think I'm going to buy a second one to replace the honeywell heater.

seems to work ok
4 Star Review   By TheBD on Home Depot - Dec 5, 2009

Just purchased this heater for a 12 x 14 room in the basement where I store guitars. The ceramic heaters was drying the room out too much (never good for a guitar). My initial observations -- it does heat up slowly -- I wasn't even certain it was working at the start. And it does give off a pretty nasty odor at the start (as most seem to do). You'd think they'd run them at the factory to burn off that smell. It is very quite, which is handy and it does seem to be warming the room up. There is a thermostat but when I set it for 66 degrees it didn't warm the room to 66 before shutting itself off (or into a lower power mode), so I'm having to set it for 85 degrees to reach the temperature I want (so don't buy it for the thermostat). The LCD display is very difficult to read, so I would consider that a design flaw (you do have to tilt the unit to read it, what's the point of that?). But, it's quite and it is warming the room.

Awesome heater
5 Star Review   By LAWoman on Home Depot - Dec 5, 2009

This thing is amazing for small spaces - it heats up so well and doesn't burn a hole in your pocket! Not sure how it would fare in a truly cold place, but this is my second heater like this - the first one was so effective I bought another for my upstairs. I have spent $200+ on heaters that didn't come close to this one! TRY IT - YOU'LL LIKE IT

perfect for drafty rooms
4 Star Review   By darthwonka on Home Depot - Dec 3, 2009

We have had this heater for a week now and LOVE IT! The scheduling feature means we will have a warm place to sleep and won't burn the house down during the day. Solid construction and stable. -1 star because the power cord gets warm, but that is my only complaint.

kenwood space heater
5 Star Review   By cochise on Home Depot - Dec 1, 2009

Product performs well. I am using it in a bedroom and am impressed with the evenness of the heat and the quality of heat produced. My main heat source is forced air which is very dry. This unit provides a better heat source. The price was reasonable and the remote is convenient. thanks kenwood and home depot.

Fine Heater!
5 Star Review   By SkipperSam on Home Depot - Nov 27, 2009

This type of heater will not give you instant heat, but it will warm up your living space and maintain a comfy temperature. I use two of these heaters to totally heat a two bedroom townhouse and they work great and are VERY economical. The remote control is a terrific feature. You can turn the unit on/off or raise/lower the temp and not even move from your favorite seat. You can setup timer control from the LCD screen to raise or lower the temp at a certain time. The only negative I can mention is that the LCD screen is hard to see in low light conditions and requires the unit be tipped back slightly to read the indicated temperature. But once you set it for a comfy temp the LCD info is really not necessary as the indicator lights for on/off and low/medium/high heat are clearly visible and allow you to know exactly what the heater is doing. I have owned several radiator heaters, but this particular unit is definitely top-of-the-line. I am VERY pleased with its performance so far, and my cats just love to sleep next to it. The many features, low price, free shipping, and quick delivery made this purchase a no brianer. If you would like to turn your funace down, or OFF like me and still be warm, you really should try this heater, I think you will like it.

Double-function timer is a winner!
5 Star Review   By Marlee on Home Depot - Nov 20, 2009

I LOVE this heater because I can set it up to automatically turn on so our place can already be nice and toasty before I get out of bed, shut off when I leave for work, then have it turn on a few mins before I get home from work and end after I sleep. GENIUS!

Used for 3 months
5 Star Review   By mama3x on Home Depot - Nov 12, 2009

We see the difference in our propane tank and we are very happy with the heater. We will be getting one for the living room too. Highly recommend. Even comes with a remote so if it does get too warm at night I don't even need to get out of bed.

Very Efficient, works extremly well
5 Star Review   By Raja008 on Home Depot - Nov 1, 2009

I placed this radiator heater in our master bedroom that is about 900 sq. ft. and it really keeps it nice and warm. I have 2 other radiator heaters in the kids' rooms and I have to say this one is the most powerful I have every used. When it starts it clicks a few times as it heats up, but it goes away and is not disturbing, hardly noticeable. The timer setting is much easier than a manual one and even the secon built in timer is handy. I don't need to turn one the central heat at all and wake up in the morning nice and toasty. Really very well worth the money. And will save you $$ instead of tunnign central heat. We had a low of 40 so far.

If you have a barn you need one
5 Star Review   By Prossygk on Home Depot - Oct 27, 2009

We bought one for the barn to keep e water pipe from freezing in our barn bath room. Set the lowest level and left it. Heated all winter and when the tempature fell below 0 outside we went in to the bathroom to warm up to 50 degrees. can be in close spaces with out fear of fire. I would highly recommend it if you have horses. Takes the worry out of space heaters

Kenwood Oil Filled Radiator
5 Star Review   By mountairy on Home Depot - Oct 26, 2009

Great. Unit stays cool enough to touch when heating. They stay on low alot of the time or off, highly efficent it seems so far. Surprisingly the unit itself stays relatively cool. So it is great around small children and pets.

Great Space Heater
5 Star Review   By WThompson on Home Depot - Oct 17, 2009

I previously owned an oil filled radiator that I gave away and decided to buy another one. The room I sleep in doesn't heat up when the gas furnace is on, and I remembered how warm these space heaters can get while being safe at the same time. This unit has the remote and more settings than most people will use. For $59.99, this thing will last a long time and keep a 12' x 12' space nice and warm to meet anyone's heating needs. I recommend buying 2 or 3 to place in spaces where you spend most of your time and just use these instead of central heat. I have had $275 gas bills during the winter months so I know that these units will save me a lot of cash in the winter time. I like that this unit is safe, looks nice, and is easily portable. People need to be smart about energy and this is one way to do it.

Works very well, much safer than a space heater
5 Star Review   By Kyle1081 on Home Depot - Oct 4, 2009

This radiator works very well. Great for drafty rooms in the winter. It has a timer so that you can adjust when it turns off and on. It is also much safer than a space heater.

Okay...
3 Star Review   By michele5389 on Home Depot - Oct 3, 2009

I purchased the heater on a Tuesday and it stopped working on Friday night. I liked the timer; however, not sure why it stopped working. I am going to take it back and exchange for another. If this one quits working in a short amount of time, I will adjust my stars.

good value
5 Star Review   By bpaw on Home Depot - Oct 2, 2009

I searched the web comparing cost and features as I already have a Honeywell radiator heater and like it. While the heating abilities of most of this style heater are close, the features and price vary. The Honeywell I have works well and shows the current room temp but this model has a remote control which is convenient for me as I am an amputee and it allows me to control the heater without having to get out of bed. I liked the fact that there was no assembly needed. I just had to flip the wheels down and put a couple of AAA batteries in the remote (surprised they didn't include them though). All oil heaters are a little slow warming up but this one has a auto temp control once the room gets warm and decides which of the 3 settings it needs to keep it that way.

Great space heater
5 Star Review   By BillinPA on Home Depot - Sep 30, 2009

The Kenwood oil-filled heater works great! Shopped numerous stores before buying this model at Home Depot! It's actually made by DeLonghi, and is sold exclusively by Home Depot. You can't find a better deal on an oil-filled radiator space heater anywhere! Especially with all the features this has, plus a remote control! Heats fairly quick for an oil-filled radiator (they're generally slow at heating, no matter the brand)! Retains it's heat for a long time! Easy to set-up and operate. Easy to move with built in casters! Nice little remote control, so you don't have to get up (uses 2 AAA batteries, which is a plus, their way cheaper that those watch-type batteries)! Hoping it's not to hard on the electric bill! I really wanted another Hydro-Sil silicone filled baseboard heater (mine is 16 years old and still works great)! Just couldn't part with $250.00 right now, but it doesn't run up the electric bill very much at all. And stays hot for a long period after you turn it off! After all my research, I figured oil-filled radiators, such as this Kenwood, were very similar in function and purpose. It does heat up as fast and retains it's heat very well after turning it off. I just have to wait for the next electric bill. The Kenwood oil-filled heater does cycle on and off, as it maintains your digitally set temperature, which should help to save on electric use. Most other brands don't cycle on and off this way. It was one feature I had to have, my Hydro-Sil silicone heater works the same way, and it's very energy efficient (if any space heater is really energy efficient, but definately helps). The only real negative for this Kenwood heater is, it's only warranted for 1 year, as with all DeLonghi products! Most competitors have a 3 to 5 year warranty. My Hydro-Sil silicone heater is warranted for a lifetime! So I hope the Kenwood is well made and will last for years! It's pretty impressive so far and seems very well made for it's price. So even if I only get a few good years out of it. It really won't be a big deal considering the fantastic price at Home Depot! But, I'm honestly expecting this Kenwood to last for years, because it is really very solidly built! So give this Kenwood oil-filled radiator a try! I'm sure you'll be pleased! Don't bother shopping around either, I've already done it for you! This Kenwood at Home Depot is by far the best deal anywhere on an oil-filled radiator you'll find, PERIOD! Way to go Home Depot!
