KitchenAid Artisan is the best help in a kitchen
5 Star Review   By anonymous - Jul 5, 2013

I have a very positive experience with kitchenaid artisan mixer. It is very powerful, quick and does many things. It takes me only 20 seconds to make a good green smoothie. Though it is noisy, you don't need to make it work long in order to complete the job. I have recently found this KitchenAid artisan mixer review that may be helpful for anyone interested in a good mixer: kitchenaidartisanmixer...

LOVE LOVE LOVE!
5 Star Review   By ispybetty on Home Depot - Apr 26, 2010

Love my Kitchenaid Artisan Stand Mixer. I used it at least twice a week baking cookies, cakes, and cupcakes. I've been using it for 5 years with no problems. Kitchenaid has a great hotline for customer questions and the recipe book that comes with it is great too. I don't remember what I did without my mixer! And it looks so pretty on my counter ;)

A great helping hand for home bakers... if you can afford it.
5 Star Review   By member TakaSaurus - Feb 23, 2008

Strengths: Very robust, good build quality, and great classical look. The tilt-head style makes it very easy to access the bowl and change the beater/mixer attachment.

Weakness: Heavy. Don't plan on storing this away in a cupboard and bringing it out every time you need to use it.

Although pricey compared to hand-mixers, KitchenAid stand-mixers are very convenient to have if you do a lot of baking. It frees you up and allows you work on other things while it's mixing your batter/dough. The Artisan series is smaller than the Professional and Commercial models, but should definitely be large and powerful enough for the typical home baker. In addition, the Artisan model itself is quite heavy and I can't imagine having to move around one of the larger models every time I needed to use it.

A must have for every kitchen
5 Star Review   By member tsyed - Jan 22, 2008

Strengths: Very user-friendly machine, easy to clean

Weakness: A little heavy to move around.

We bought this machine for ourselves and it has made life easier for us in the kitchen. It also comes with a cookbook that contains quite a number of recipes. A powerful 325 Watt motor makes any kneading/baking job a "Cake Walk" for us now. I would highly-recommend this machine for any household.

Solid Machine
5 Star Review   By member nhenny2005 - Jan 21, 2008

Strengths: Well constructed (solid & heavy), no problem with pizza dough, easy to use, easy to clean. Think it will last for a long time.

Weakness: None yet...

I got this as a birthday gift for my wife and she loves it. I enjoy using it too as I can make pizza dough in just a few minutes and it does all the work. I just dump in the ingredients and 3 minutes later it's ready to roll out on the pan. This stand mixer is solid and looks great just sitting out on the countertop. Now I just need to figure out what attachments I'm going to by for it. Can't go wrong with this mixer especially for the price. Other pros: The mixer bowl attaches seamlessly and you don't have to worry about it going anywhere. It has 10 different speeds. It has the attachment hookup which is easily accessible. It is a tilt head which makes it easy to get access to the bowl and when it tilts back your mixing attachments stays over the bowl so you don't have to worry about creating a mess. It has a cover plate which allows spill free addition of ingredients while it is operating.

Not your mother's mixer... wait -- yes it is!
5 Star Review   By member matthewf01 - Jan 15, 2008

Strengths: -Solid all-metal housing -Heavy duty switches -Enormous bowl (but its TALL instead of WIDE...excellent!) -Expandable via attachments

Weakness: -Fairly large footprint -Weighs about as much as three elephants -Only a one-year warranty from KitchenAid (I bought on credit card though, which doubles the warranty! Highly suggest doing that...)

I'm a 21-year old guy, I've inherited some (at least at this point) solid cooking skills from my mother, who has taught me well. One thing though -- she's not a baker. Which is probably why I wouldn't say I am either! Funny how that works... So, to challenge myself, I started baking things (giving myself weekly projects to tackle). Bread seemed like a valuable thing to make -- it's an everyday thing, not like cookies or cakes, we buy it in the store, and its obviously possible to make it better at home -- plus it makes your kitchen smell good! Well... have you tried doing this by hand? I work out, but come on... that's tough work! So I set off on a yearning for a KitchenAid mixer... my mom has the beautiful caviar color. I asked her what she thought about my getting one. She said "That's the kind of thing you get when you get married. Plus it's heavy -- wait until you've moved into a house! You're not going to want to move it." Well... Amazon put it on sale for $200...tempting, but I'll restrain myself. One day, I look again, lusting after it. ---$30 rebate?!?! Called my mom --- "Wow...that's pretty good! Sure, get one!" Done. And all of the schemes I was planning to figure out how I could get married, so I could get a mixer out of it! :) Then, the next day Amazon dropped the price by $10. Wow! They have a Price Protection Policy I wrote them about, and they immediately gave me a credit. $160 after rebates! This thing is a tank. It looks like it means business...and it certainly weighs as much. It powers through doughs, whips up eggs (and whites) faster than it would take for your arm to hurt. At first I questioned the goofy slide switches, wondering why they weren't more prominently placed, like on a food processor or blender...then I realized -- they are so heavy duty! They are likely DIRECTLY interfaced with the motor...so are super-reliable, less likely to break, and have a lot less that can go wrong with them because of it. The mixing bowl is generously large, at least for my small-scale operation! It is very tall, rather than wide, which helps to save space, and makes sense to me. You get three attachments: a wire whisk, a mixer, and a dough hook, plus a splash guard. I think the one that wakes you up in the morning and makes coffee and toast and washes the car got lost in the mail... ;) Some prefer the lowering bowl of the Pro line, but the tilt head of the Artisan seems fine to me -- just remember to lock the head down before you start mixing. The bowl locks into the base by screwing into a short 'thread' like a screw. Make sure the bowl is locked on tight as well! My final note, is that this is a beautiful appliance. It's not like a coffee maker or a microwave. This is a classic kitchen appliance. Everyone who's serious about food has one. It's a workhorse of pro kitchens. It's the American dream! Would have been nice to marry and get one... but me and my Onyx Black mixer will have to get along until then!

Pretty good mixer
4 Star Review   By Drkilmer on Home Depot - Jan 13, 2008

We've had ours for a few years now and use it often. Our family does a lot of cooking, so this appliance has gotten quite a workout. It's great for making cookies or cakes, but don't expect to do much bread making with it. The bowl is a little too flimsy for such work ... when we tried it, the bowl flexed so much it came loose from the base. I use a 14-cup Cuisinart food processor to mix bread dough now. We have the pasta attachment and the juicer attachment, bith of which work well. The juicer is great for processing fresh blackberries to remove the seeds, which we do in the summer to make ice cream. We haven't had any real problems with this mixer, other than the bread making limitation. It did get REALLY hot once while making pasta, but I think that was because we had the motor turned up too high. We leave the mixer out on the counter and it looks great. For the price it's a very good mixer. We are considering upgrading tp a sturdier model, though.

This product is very user friendly and has has a great warranty. I bake a lot, especially over the holidays and it has made my life so much easier. I really like the fact that it has several accessories to extend its use, and do plan on making those additional purchases. It is one of the best investments I have made for my kitchen in a while. It was very easy to shop on line with the Home Depot and delivery was very quick.

Good KitchenAid mixer
5 Star Review   By member pcneeds - Dec 5, 2007

Strengths: Reliability, easy to use

This KitchenAid mixer has enough power for most day to day tasks. It is especially useful when mixing cake flour and Chapathi (indian bread) flour. The controls are easy to use and it is easy to clean. No problems.

White may not be a good idea
3 Star Review   By member ralucy - Dec 4, 2007

Strengths: Easy to use, lot of attachment choices,

Weakness: not that powerful,

we use this to make the dumpling, pasta, and it's easy and quick to get the work done. However, I think it's power still not good enough to me. Sometimes I have to re-mix with my won "hand-tools". If you just want to have it work for general mixing, it's a good product.

Great Mixer
5 Star Review   By member ggovin - Jun 23, 2007

Strengths: Great mixing action, This Tilt Head Design is a Smaller Size than the Kitchenaid lift Mixer, powerful, sharp modern design

Weakness: None come to mind

I owned a Kitchenaid lift mixer and in my small Kitchen it was simply too big. If you have lots of space that may be a great choice too. I could not keep that model on the counter so it was very inconvenient; however, this mixer fits nicely on my small counter. I also have a 220 watt, 9 speed Cuisinart hand mixer which is fine for smaller jobs. It simply does not mix as thoroughly as this mixer though. The mixing action of this Kitchenaid stand mixer is phenomenal. With its 325 watt motor I don't expect it will get bogged down mixing almost anything either. I am not so interested in all of the available attachments as many of the possible functions are performed by my food processor, but hey they are there if I decide to invest further.

Best mixer in its class
5 Star Review   By member fvpawli - May 17, 2007

Strengths: Strong motor, great reputation, attachments available

Weakness: A little expensive, add-on accessories a little pricey

OK I picked this up for under $200 with a promo for a free slicer attachment through 5/31 from the manufacturer (applies no matter where you buy it and the mfg runs these specials from time to time from what I hear). My girlfriend just started using it and she bakes as a hobby (More of an enthusiast) so she will be putting this thing to good use. Not a lot of time under so far but initial build qulaity is solid and my grandparents have the same one and use it to make cookies every Chrismas plus all the Pennsylvania Dutch cooking and it works flawlessly. Even the refurbs on the 150PS models have excellent reviews. I put this in the same bought as Maytag washers back in the 70's-90's. The bottom line is if you want a mixer that is going to go the distance look no further as this is truly a mixer for someone that enjoys baking on a regular basis or someone that uses it enough to justify the cost. Sure beats paying a little extra up front then having to replace a cheapo mixer a year down the road.

5 Star Review   By Trg0279 on Home Depot - Jan 21, 2007

I purchased this product as a gift for my mother because she has problems mixing things manually. The Item replaced everything she does around the kitchen. I was really impressed with the quality of the product and what the product came with. This is a product that will probably out live myself. I like the idea that kitchen aid had in mind to build simplicity. This product can have many feautures added , Ice Cream Maker , Pasta Maker , Juicer , Meat Grinder , just to name a few.The product came with the basic mixing aids as well as a helpful guide and complementory cookbook. This is definatley a great buy for those cooking mothers out there. She really loves it and brags about it to all her friends.

These workhorses last FOREVER!
5 Star Review   By Linda1 on Home Depot - Nov 27, 2006

I've had one of these for over 20 years, and it still works like new! These handle everything from heavy doughs and mashed potatoes to frothy egg whites. The attachments are great, but I don't use them as much as I used to since a standard food processor is much easier to handle (these weight a ton). A must for every kitchen - don't bother with cheaper brands that you'll end up replacing every few years.

Makes life much easier!
5 Star Review   By Marcie on Home Depot - Nov 10, 2006

Thank you for letting me share what I think aobut my new mixer. I have recently had 2 shoulder surgerys. Im not able to mix cookie doughs as well as many other things. I love to bake and with the holidays coming I was upset to think I wouldnt be able to bake as I normaly do. But my new mixer does all the work for me. I am having fun trying out the attachments too.

i really like this mixer but for the money you pay i think the bowl should turn while mixing. the add on attachments make cooking fun but are too costly. i know this mixer will last for years to come
