Kitchen Aid Love
4 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 11, 2010

I don't know how I lived before I had this mixer. I really don't. I tried to go so long before giving in (convinced it was just a brand name) and then finally I got one and realized it so much more than that. This mixer will do anything, and I love how much it holds. I'm an avid baker and cake decorator. Being able to make enough batter for a 16 inch cake at once is amazing!

Essential for the Home Chef
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jul 6, 2009

This is the power tool of all power tools, kitchen-wise. You will love how well it whips cream, kneads dough and makes soufle batters. I make compound butters in less than 30 seconds with my KitchenAid. Anything that makes short work of heavy-duty kitchen work is a winner. I'm sure similar machines are fine, but why accept substitutes?! Looks beautiful on our granite countertop, too.

Best "Prosumer " Stand Mixer Under The Sun
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jul 3, 2009

I bought this stand mixer on the advice of someone I trust, and have never looked back. I bake quite often, and this mixer is an invaluable tool. It is very sturdy and well-made, and the beater, hook, and bowl all are easily removed but fit perfectly where they are supposed to. I can't wait to get the ice cream attachment! I was not about to spend $1000+ on a commercial stand mixer, and for a mixer of this high caliber; you won't find any better at this price.

#1 Mixer, hands down
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jul 2, 2009

After years of suffering with cheaper, older, plastic models, this mixer was like a dream come true. It can handle anything I've thrown at it. I've made bread, cookies, souffles, ice cream, etc and it has never let me down. The extra size in the bowl makes a huge difference too. Especially if you're making bread 2 loaves at a time like I do. This is the true workhorse of the mixer universe and if you plan on cooking, baking, creating in your kitchen with the same mixer for the rest of your life, I honestly believe that this is only one that can handle the job! Happy mixing!

This is the Big Boy
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 30, 2009

for the serious cook. The Professional series has metal parts (compared to the nylon or plastic on the smaller models) and is very substantial. I have not found a job it couldn't handle. Even with the pouring shield it is a bit awkward to add things to the bowl (I find it easier to stop the machine and lower the bowl, usually). And you might wish to measure the distance between your countertop and upper cabinets, mine does not fit beneath the cabinets. It is VERY heavy. Easily can handle double recipes of cookies and doughs, and the whip makes short work of whipping cream or meringue. All in all, however, I'm glad I got the real deal.

Great mixer - a staple in every kitchen!
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 19, 2009

As a girl, I used to drool over my friend's mom's old school kitchen aid and was thrilled when I got married to receive this one from her as a gift. I use it for EVERYTHING - mashed potatoes, huge baking batches (cookie exchange -- 20 dozen) cookies, and it handles it beautifully and is my favorite kitchen tool. I hope to get the accessories some day too. You will not be displeased with this amazing mixer!

5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 28, 2009

Our mixer gets at least weekly use, if not more frequent than that... and I can't imagine baking without it. Its classy and elegant look, makes keeping it out on the counter not a problem, and the mixing bowl fits nicely in the dishwasher. Several settings for optimal performance.

6 Qt is worth it
4 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 27, 2009

This is the model that will last you a lifetime. I was a professional pastry chef, and used this model every day in the kitchen. It's also what I have at home. This is the one I would choose over all others - including the 4qt and 5qt models. The 6QT is big enough and strong enough to work when you really want it to - for large family meals, big batches of cookie dough, etc., but not too big when you're just putting something small together. I also prefer the lever handle as opposed to the flip-top head which seems to be on the newer models. This is worth the investment.

Oh Yes I Did
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 27, 2009

I did it! I replaced my KitchenAid with this beauty! It is gorgeous. I actually had to teach myself how to use this power-boy. It was easy to make the changes needed to utilize the mixer, whipper, beater and grinder that I had been missing all these years. I did keep a handheld mixer/beater for the really small stuff and I must tell you - buyer beware -once you get this jewel home you will be having a dinner party, entertaining and showing off, so don't fret everything will be fine after all look who's cooking!!!

A necessity
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 27, 2009

I don't use my KitchenAid Pro very often when I'm cooking for myself--but it's indispensable when I'm cooking for a crowd: holidays, my turn to bring treats to work, etc. This workhorse is reliable, easy to use and easy to clean. As others have noted, it's heavy and too tall for a countertop under cabinets, so mine lives in a butcher block cart with my other baking needs.

Useless!
1 Star Review   By member lanoll - Oct 11, 2008

Strengths: volume capacity

Weakness: Bread dough.

It is supposed to handle 12 cup flour recipes, but after a 5 cup recipe, it overheats and stops working. Kitchenaid replaced it for me, but less than 2 years out, this one is doing the same. I called Kitchenaid, but they basically said that's the way it is and it is out of waranty. Before I had this I had the cheapest one available and it worked like crazy for 10 years. Don't waste your money.

A great Kitchenaid Mixer for the pro-chef in all of us
5 Star Review   By member gmttr1 - Dec 7, 2005

Strengths: Very sturdily build; commercial grade power; hefty so it won't exhibit "counter-crawl", All-metal internal construction is a welcome breath of fresh air in a plastic-filled world.

Weakness: Quite expensive. Have heard from others that the bowl lift-latch mechanism is subject to failure over extended period of time. Can't say from personal expeience yet.

Like most all KitchenAid products I have purchased, this one impresses in most every regard. Quality of construction is oustanding. The product has a nice heft to it that seems to reassure that it won't be going anywhere anytime soon!! And with Kitchenaid's reputation for turning out highly reliable appliances and their truly first-rate warranty program, I don't have to dread getting stuck with a hefty doorstop either. Mixing action is similar to other lower-line Kitchenaid stand mixers. The main difference is in the power if you make large batches and in the reassurance that all-metal internal gears will lead to longer use-life. The pouring shield included with these mixers is also superior in containing splatter compared to 2-pc pouring shields on Artisan line mixers.

Finally got what I always wanted
5 Star Review   By member Maxxie - Nov 17, 2005

Strengths: Great looks. Powerful machine. Many add-ons to choose from.

The stand mixers probably have the best design in all KitchenAid's appliances, big or small. The industial look and seemingly endless selection of colors make it no doubt the best on the market. For $175 it's a steal.

Woohoo! Kitchenaid at its finest- a staple for your kitchen
5 Star Review   By member hunter111 - Nov 16, 2005

Strengths: Lives up to the kitchenaid name Plenty of Power! Better looking than its predecessor Great for bread making- fixed head keeps it sturdy Lots of add-on accessories! Heavy metal construction

Weakness: Fixed head is sturdy- but lacks ease of use of the tilt head- it's a tossup depending on what you like. Accessories all cost a bundle (what can you do?)

So I've grown up seeing kitchenaid at my parents house. Then as my siblings got married, I noticed they each had a kitchenaid. It's no mistake- they make some fine machines. This is no exception. Sturdy metal construction rather than flimsy plastic makes you confident that it can make bread dough day after day (it will!). I like the multiple accessories available- the dough hook is great. But like most good things, the accessories cost a bundle. It's the price you have to pay- and then you can enjoy it for years to come. This is a fixed head- good if you need it to be sturdy, bad if you like tilt heads. I've liked strength over convenience of the tilt head but your results may vary. Overall, a great buy. I haven't had to use the warranty (it's supposed to be a no questions asked warranty for the first year) and I don't anticipate having to. It's a workhorse. What else can I say? It's a kitchenaid, and it's going to perform well. Makes a great gift, and should have a place on most countertops (you don't have to hide this one in the cupboard).

The Kitchen Item I Can't Live Without!!!
5 Star Review   By member flygirl0125 - Nov 16, 2005

Strengths: VERY easy to use, makes any mixing job quick.

Weakness: KitchenAid recommends that parts are handwashed--even the bowl!

I have to admit that if my mixer broke today, I would buy a new one tomorrow. This is the one kitchen appliance that I use all the time. For instance, my husband is extrememly picky about mashed potatoes. With the KitchenAid mixer, I throw the ingredients in the bowl and let it go for a few minutes. When I turn it off, I have perfect, lump-free mashed potatoes--every single time! Finally, the colors available for this item are great, and it even looks good left out on the counter.

5 Star Review   By member dchambers - Feb 27, 2005

Strengths: Rugged, high power, all metal gears

This was well worth the cost. It'll last forever. It's built of all metal and easily mixes anything I put in it. It is big, though, so make sure you have room for it on your counter, or in a cabinet.
