Easy to Clean; but not grill marks!
3 Star Review

Strengths: I have used my older model of "George" till the teflon fell off. This is a breeze to clean!

Weakness: Does Not get hot enough to truly Grill.

I really miss the searing; the grill marks of the older George. Meat just doesn't have that "Grilled" flavor and look. It's more like baking it in the oven. Hope they come up with a "fix".

Teflon comming off, used only twice
2 Star Review   By member glenndunlap99 - Jan 1, 2010

Strengths: Easy to clean

Weakness: Not quite hot enough to put grill marks on food.

I only used the item twice and noticed that the teflon was already comming off in places. Also it seems like the grill is not getting hot enough to put grill marks on the food. Probably because the removeable plates don't fit real tighly at the top and bottom.

Doesn't hold a candle to the original grill
1 Star Review

Strengths: Easy to clean grills

Weakness: Doesn't brown the food at all. Doesn't seem to heat up properly. Doesn't brown the food

I thought this grill was a terrific idea and bought one as soon as I saw it. Unfortunately, I threw out my old grill before I realized how terrible this one was to cook on. I tried cooking at the temperatures they recommended and it took forever to cook the food without ever browning it. So I cranked the temperature up as high as it would go, thinking it would compare to the Old George, but it didn't even come close. If you cook the chicken until it's brown, the inside is so dried out you can't eat it! I have always loved George's grills, but this one has definitely turned me off.

GRP99 Next Generation Grill with Removeable Plates
1 Star Review

Strengths: SO easy to clean!!!

Weakness: Does NOT brown the meat...steams it.

I loved my old George Foreman, in fact we wore it out. The nonstick coating just wore away we used it so much! The taste of the food was fantastic! So, I was thrilled when I received this new grill with REMOVABLE nonstick plates! and it was huge! You could cook a ton of food! But...and this is a BIG but... it doesn't crisp the meat, it sort of steams it; it doesn't get nearly as hot as the old George Foreman Grill. Even set a 425 degrees, the chicken was WHITE, anemic looking with a small bit of golden crispiness on part of it. Such a HUGE disappointment. It's expensive ~ so it SHOULD work the way it advertises it will... but it DOESN'T.

FOREMAN RULES
4 Star Review   By member patrickfeldman - Jun 13, 2008

Strengths: Extremely convenient

Weakness: does not make food taste nearly as good as a regular outdoor grill

Works very well and very fast. I like to make myself quick fast hot meals. This does the trick fine. I also like how the fat drips off. Makes me feel healthy. Meat tastes a little like microwave cooked, but not nearly as gross. For quality I still recommend an outdoor grill

4 Star Review   By member DottieRo - Jan 11, 2008

Strengths: Removable plates, easy cleaning.

Weakness: Cord is entirely too short.

I cooked a great grilled cheese sandwich as my first meal. Came out very crispy. However, it shows on the package you cooking bacon and eggs together on the grill plate, but the plate has no out for the grease. So your eggs are cooked in bacon grease.

Wonderful Grill
5 Star Review

Strengths: Easy to Clean; Can Cook Thick Cuts of Meat; Removeable Plates, Great Cooking Controls.

I've had this grill for 2 years now and it's still working great. I cook on this grill almost every day and I love it. I would definitely recommend this grill due to the 1" height to accomodate larger cuts of meat as well as the removeable plates for ease of cleaning. I'm buying another one for my RV. It beats going out in the cold to cook on my grill. As a matter of fact, when I got this, I hardly cook on my outdoor grill at all. I feel this is one of George's better grills and I've had a few of them. I highly recommend this grill.

Waste of money
1 Star Review   By member Stakeholderman - Oct 13, 2007

Strengths: Removeable plates for cleaning

Weakness: Doesn't reach temeperature, steams rather than grills

We bought one of these to replace an older family GF grill, which was losing its non-stick coating. A big mistake, although the plates are easy to clean tey simply don't get hot enough to grill food, it rather bakes or steams to cook. So disappointed we thought it must be faulty and sent it back. The replacement stopped working at all after a week, so now that's going back too and we will get our money back. Looks like its got to be fixed plates for it to work.

Excellent grill
4 Star Review   By member srohira - Mar 25, 2007

Strengths: Easy to clean.

Weakness: Wish the smoke had a directional output towards the hood.

Overall I like it over the other indoor grills I have seen.Removable plates are a blessing. Otherwise in the older grill, I had to wash the whole thing in the sink and it was difficult. This one improves on the experience. Electronic controls are very good.

Good, Medium Priced George Foreman Grill
4 Star Review   By member KellyGates - Jan 25, 2007

Strengths: Removable, Nonstick Plates

Weakness: None so far!

This grill is a nice kitchen appliance to own. It cooks and performs well. The metallic exterior is a nice touch and blends well with stainless kitchen items. Meats cook quickly and taste very good. The size is medium to large (in comparison with other GF grills). It allows one to cook a handful of burgers (approx.) at the same time. The product is a great addition to the GF line.

A Nice Grill Upgrade from Previous Generations
5 Star Review   By member blackcapten - Jul 27, 2006

Strengths: removable parts for cleaning, temperature indicator, cooks fast and efficiently

Weakness: none yet

We had one of the older, smaller George Foreman grills which we used quite often but had it's annoyances. There was no off/on switch and no temperature or time indicators... the cooking area was also pretty small. There was also no easy way to clean it. All of that changes with this newer model. It is bigger, easier to use, and much easier to clean. We've used it a few times so far and have not been disappointed. It seems built and constructed so that even an inexperienced cook can whip up something quick and easy. I really like the extra space to allow extra vegetable seasonings like onions and peppers without worrying about it falling off the grill. I also appreciate the overall look of the grill, as our previous grill was a dull white color, this one looks more metallic.

George Foreman Grill
4 Star Review   By member SgtWyatt - Dec 16, 2005

Strengths: Much easier to clean than previous models, built-in timer and temp control

Weakness: None yet

I previously owned a first-generation George Foreman grill (the type without the removeable plates) that I loathed using. Clean up was a nightmare on prior models, nightmare enough to make me more apt to order out than to actually good the food at home. I finally get fed up and threw my old grill out and purchased the "Next Generation Grill" with removable cooking plates. I find this grill much more enjoyable to use than previous models. The temperature control is a nice improvement over the previous model that I owned that had no controls other than plugged in/unplugged. This model also features a programmable countdown timer which makes it easier to keep track of cook times. The timer does NOT turn off the heat and is simply used as an alert to remind you to check on your food. The number one selling point for me was of course the removable plates which now allow for exceptionally easy clean up. Just let the unit cool off and the plates pop right out. They are also dishwasher safe accoridng to the manual but since I don't have a dishwasher in my apartment I wash them by hand in the sink. Food comes right off and I can put the plates in the dish drainer to dry. The unit comes with a sample sponge designed specifically for fitting between the grooves on the grill plates. I have been using it to clean the unit and find it works very well but I won't be spending the extra money to buy replacements when this one is worn out as I think cleaning with a regular sponge works just fine.

Foreman Grill
5 Star Review   By member chrisrandb - Nov 10, 2005

Strengths: Great, was able to cook brats and cook steaks, fast, easy to clean

Weakness: learning curve how long to cook meat.

Loved it, used it at small cottage with limited counter space. Used on brats one night and steaks the next. Very easy clean up, dishwasher save pans. The expandable hinge helps with thick items. Very fast too.

Great grill
4 Star Review   By member TJ665 - Jul 28, 2005

Strengths: Removable plates, timer, temperature controller

Weakness: Little smaller than former jumbo grill

I have had the previous george foreman grills in the past and all worked pretty well until they quit working because of internal wiring issues. The one thing that would make clean-up easier would be the removable plates. Now I don't have to position the grill near the edge of the sink to rinse the fat and gunk off it. Oh yes, it cooks food with grilling perfection.

Worth the wait!
5 Star Review   By member sherrydee63 - Jul 12, 2005

Strengths: Easy to clean, accurate timer, variable temperature.

Weakness: Steam seems to leave permanent marks in the finish in a couple of spots.

I love this grill. I've been stubbornly waiting for this specific model. I kept telling my husband that I was waiting for removable grill plates. It seemed so obvious to me that the grill plates should come off for ease of cleaning. It was worth the wait. I use it for all sorts of things ranging from sandwiches to "steak-ums" to chicken breasts and burgers. You name it. Great for things that splatter grease on the stove, no worries with "George", also great because you can set the timer and ignore what's inside. "George" will let you know when it's done. And clean up is a breeze! Glad my wait is over!

Strengths: Removable nonstick plates

My friend brought it and it was defactive first time. Amazon replace it and it was defactive second time too. Finally he returned it and got his money back. So this product has known to be defactive. This grill has been working good so fat and I hope it stays that way. This is my first grill, so I can not compare with other models.

Strengths: Removable plates, stainless steel look, size.

Weakness: The product has been known to be defective. Doesn't get as hot as the older models.

The timer and temperature control went out on my grill the first time I used it, but the food still cooked and it was good. I received a replacement that just had the same problem so I will have to send it back also. The grill cooks great while it is working.

4 Star Review   By member stargazer423 - Jan 20, 2005

Strengths: Removeable grilling plates, temperature display, timer display, on-off switch.

Weakness: Needs to be the size of the old family size unit. Doesn't really brown the meat.

I had the older George Foreman Lean Mean Grilling Machine in the large family size unit. It was a pain to clean. So, I stopped using it. I use the GRP99 at least 3 times a week. I love it. It cooks items without drying them out like conventional grilling. I wish it was a little larger though. You can comfortably cook three NY strip steaks, and four if you really cram them together, but then they don't cook evenly.
