Good for an apartment
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 20, 2013

Small enough to keep out on the countertop. Griddles come out and can go in the dishwasher, or I wipe them with a wet cloth. Don't really like the plastic drip cup-kind of messy. But overall a good product.

Great indoor grill! Easy to clean
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jan 8, 2013

I love this grill - it's so easy to clean, which is one of its best selling points. I've had other indoor grills which you could not remove the plates to clean (not good). It makes great burgers, steaks, grilled chicken, seafood. Great if you don't have outdoor space to grill!

"Don't judge a book by its cover"
1 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Dec 16, 2012

From the appearance, this Cuisinart is sleek, productive, and sturdy but the actual purpose of the product was quite disapointing. My husband and I were very exciting that it advertised eggs and bacon cooking at the same time rather than using the pan yet it become a overload spill of egg white down my counter. Our product was correctly aligned when folded down but did not do its job.... We were also upset about the amount of fat that still stayed about the item cooking when there is an advertised grease tray for drippings when none were collected while cooking our bacon. No wonder it was on sale...

Works Great, Not So Easy Clean Up
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jan 11, 2012

We received the Griddler as a wedding gift and love it. It is the perfect way to "grill" indoors and also makes great paninis and serves as a great surface for pancakes too. We also received the waffle plates, which are a great addition because they save a ton of space compared to another appliance. The plates are not as easy to clean for me as others are saying. I have to soak them and scrub them after using them because they have to stay in the griddler to cool before you wash them.

Nice addition to the kitchen
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jan 1, 2012

The Griddler with additional waffle plates is a great addition to my kitchen. I like the heat controls for making Panini and love the waffle plates. I was hesitant to buy an appliance with so many options thinking it may not do an of them really well, but that’s not the case. I would recommend this product to my friends.

Pretty Good
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Dec 12, 2011

We registered for this for our wedding - it was a must have! I've only used it a few times, but so far - so good. It's very versatile and you can cook a lot on it. My only suggestion is to buy thin meat to cook on it. Full size burgers/chicken breasts can take a while to cook and dry out in the process. Overall, great product. Good for sandwiches!

doesn't work as advertised
4 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Aug 18, 2011

This review is from: Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 Griddler (Kitchen) My wife and I were excited to finally get this item when it went on sale. We first started out truing to make pancakes and couldn't believe how long they took to turn golden which they never really did. We're both good cooks, we allowed it 10 minutes to warm up to 375 degrees. After going through 2 batches of batter and still not with an edible pancake, I decided to do some testing. I got out my infrared thermometer and found the problem. When the temperature selector was set to 375, the temperature of the cooking plates cycled from a low of 250 to a hich of 310 or so. This cycle kept repeating. Turning the selector up to 425, the plates cycled between 328 and 386 degrees. Using the panini selector and set to the highest temperature available, sear, the plates cycled between 352 and 414. I am so glad I did not risk destroying a steak on this . I'm sure this thing would work fine for a sandwich but it's also advertised as a griddle and a griddle it ain't. It's already back in the box and will be returned to Macy's tomorrow.

DESERVES EVERY STAR!
4 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Aug 17, 2011

Before buying the Griddler, I read all of the customer reviews above. They were right! It performs like a champ on sandwiches, breakfasts (I can do eggs, pancakes and sausages on the griddler for my family quickly and well. I don't recommend doing a closed grilling for steak. It was probably my mistake not to do it open grill style; and our current beef supply, though organic and grass fed, is basically shoe leather. That said, if you want to try closed grilling for steaks of normal texture, let me know how they turn out. I'm currently using mine to resole shoes.

good addition to the kitchen
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Aug 16, 2011

I have been wanting one of these for years, but not enough to actually spend the $. Then after receiving a gift certificate, I thought, why not. I really like it. It feels substantial (versus light and cheap). It heats up quickly and cooks brilliantly--everything cooks quickly, nothing burns. Clean up is a breeze! Love it. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, because it's not as big as I thought it would be. I could only (and barely) fit 3 small chicken breasts on at once. I really thought it would accomodate 4.

Great deal!
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 19, 2011

I purchased this Cuisinart Griddler at Christmas when they were half price at C&B. (Picked up a second one for a shower gift too since it was such a good deal!) What a great product. I love the top and bottom cooking elements, the food comes out nice and hot when you have the cover closed for paninis or meats. But when open, the griddle gives you room to cook so much at once that it's a great timesaver. The cookbook that was included gives you all the basic recipes and cooking times, and its exactly right. Cleanup is quick and easy too, the plates go in the dishwasher or wash up quickly and easily by hand. I love this, and we've used it so much since I purchased it, without a problem, that I highly recommend it.

A New Ktichen Essential
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jan 7, 2011

I just love my Griddler. It is in use most everyday at breakfast for beautiful pancakes, just right bacon and healthy veggie scrambles. The pannini gril makes fabulous crusty sandwhiches with no oil or butter. Everyone in the family is getting one for the holidays!

best Registry item
4 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Oct 13, 2010

This is by far the best item on our registry. We wanted to shy away from gadget items. But this was well worth it. We use it at least twice a week to make hot sandwiches and it is great when you have company over and need to make breakfast for a large group.

How Did I Do Without This?
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Mar 31, 2010

How did I ever survive without this fantastic kitchen tool? I grill chicken and fish, vegetables, make panini; the floating hinge means it's absolutely foolproof. It heats up quickly and cooks very evenly. My favorite part, though, has to be the removable, dishwasher-safe grill plates: cleanup is SUCH a snap! This is my absolute favorite of all my small appliances.

The Panini Experience
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jan 8, 2010

I gave this panini grill to my daughter for her birthday. She leads a very busy life in Manhattan and meals are so often eaten on the fly. With the panini grill she can put together some soup and a sandwich. She also often has guests. The grill has afforded her the ease of throwing together a meal in a hurry. Guests can also create their own panini experience by assembling their own sandwich.

Love the multi-purpose appliance!
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jan 6, 2010

We live in a loft so appliances that have more than one purpose are a must when space is at a premium! We love to make burgers on this, I love that there is a grease catch so the food isn't sitting in it. It cleans so easily too, and is very easy to use.

Makes a GREAT Gift!
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Nov 20, 2009

We purchased this as a Christmas gift for my mom and she absolutely loves it. In the first week she had it, she grilled steaks and pork chops and used the griddle plates for bacon and eggs and grilled cheese. A sure sign that it was a hit - she arranged a spot for it to remain permanently on the counter! As far as Crate and Barrel, thumbs up on the price, the online service, the free shipping and the lightning fast delivery (I ordered it Dec 15 and it was at my door Dec 17!) I will certainly keep Crate and Barrel top of mind for 2011's Christmas shopping.

Best Kitchen Appliance Out There!
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Oct 18, 2009

This is the greatest kitchen appliance that I have ever purchased. My husband and I originally registered for it because we wanted a griddle and liked the dual functionality as a panini press/grill. We have had a lot of fun experimenting with making grilled sandwiches. The griddle feature works great as well, we were able to make french toast on one half and bacon on the other half without worrying about the bacon grease getting on our food. Clean up is a breeze with the removable plates (they are dishwasher safe!) I would highly recommend this to anyone!!

Easy to Use and Clean Up
4 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jul 5, 2009

This griddler is great for apartment living, if you're not allowed to have a real grill. It's easy to use and operates very efficiently. The cooking surfaces detach easily and can go straight into the dishwasher. Cooking time is super fast and in grill mode, it makes good grill marks and chars. It does not take up a lot of room, either.

Great product
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 26, 2009

I have tried several indoor grills and been very dissatisfied. This grill is a VERY pleasant surprise. It heats quickly (and to a temperature sufficient to actually grill the food), cleans easily and - most important - produces a delicious end result. I've tried it with burgers, steaks and boneless/skinless chicken breasts. The chicken is ready in about 6 minutes. All have been great. The grill plates, interchangeable with griddle plates, remove easily and can be washed in the dishwasher. Well worth the money.

SO FAR SO GOOD
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 25, 2009

We have really enjoyed the Griddler in the short time that we have had it. So far we have only made pancakes on the griddle part, but it does a wonderful job with them. It really helps to have the right tools. The pancakes cook quickly, and clean up is easy.

5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 20, 2009

The Cuisinart Griddler is a must have for every busy kitchen. It is easy to assemble and easy to clean. The Griddler is also versatile in its usage, because it opens up and you can use both sides! We have made scrumptous pancakes and grilled cheese sandwiches. The Panini Press also makes great paninis. Because of the grill plates, you can also do great indoor burgers, especially when the weather is not permitting outdoors. Enjoy this great product!

Good Multipurpose Griddler
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 19, 2009

Great grill/griddle for small space. Will easily cook for two. Great that plates are dish-washer friendly as it can make cleaning a snap. Watch out for the converter switch on the side (converts from closed to open). Not high quality and can break easily. Ours broken on the second use and it's not replaceable.

Great Multi-purpose Grill
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 16, 2009

This small grill does it all... meat, veggies, sandwiches, pancakes and more! My grilled asparagus was so tasty and healthy. The heat settings on both the top and bottom make it more versatile and the removable grids make cleanup a snap. I shopped many brands; this is the best grill at any price. Cooking smokin' burgers? Place grill on heat proof surface under stove vent and it sucks the smoke to the outside! Love this griddler!

great for small places
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 13, 2009

We bought te griddler to be able to "grill" without having to buy a grill, especially since we have a small patio. It works great and cuts cooking time in half with the two sided grill feature. Love the booklet with dinner ideas! Only downfall is the smoke! If we don't open windows it smells like a burger joint but is to be expected with the high heat element.

Great Product
4 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 3, 2009

This is a great, versatile indoor grill. You can cook breakfast, sandwiches, meats, and a variety of other items on this. It is great with the interchangeable plates. The only downfall is the sides are very low so it can sometimes be messy and it scratches easily so be careful when cleaning it.

Great way to grill burgers if you live in an apartment and don't have a traditional grill. Works much better than other similar idoor grills because of the temperature controls and height settings. Easy to clean.

Love It!
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 27, 2009

We don't have an outside grill (hubby not into that). So when I saw this, I thought it would be a good substitute as I enjoy grilled food and it's healthier for you. I have not been disappointed. I've made hamburgers and grilled pork on it, and find it easy to use, easy to clean, and the food tastes great. As far as cleaning goes, I let the plates cool, then immerse them in hot water to soak. Soon after, cleaning them lightly with a pad works just great. I couldn't be happier with my griddler.

Liked it a lot more than I thought I would.

I received this as a gift for Christmas, and almost took it back. We decided to try it, & actually loved it. It makes delicious paninis, (which is easier than I thought it would be) & you can fold it flat, switch out the plates, & make PERFECT eggs. My stove is old, & I've never been able to make over easy eggs so evenly cooked. Wonderful.

Awesome!

We aren't big on unitaskers but this is an item that will do just about everything you ask of it. My sister-in-law got this as a wedding gift and we knew we wanted one too after using theirs. Simple to use, it opens flat for cooking pancakes and other fun stuff. The plates remove for easy cleaning. Such awesome features. And of course it is the durably quality that you expect from Cuisinart and of couse Crate and Barrel!

Love This......

This was a great addition to food prep. Initially I would follow the recipes, to learn flavors that go together. Just a wonderful way to kick up an ordinary sandwich, appetizers, or just grilling meats or veges....You will not be disappointed.

We received this item as a gift over a year ago, and have since cooked up countless meals centered around panninis, grilled chicken, and good ol' grilled cheeses! Easy cleanup and sturdily designed. This one's a keeper!

We have used our Griddler so much, I'm surprised it hasn't worn out! We use this probably every other day for sandwiches, grilling chicken, or making pancakes. It is easy to clean and cooks great! Highly recommend this product to everyone!

In Love
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 27, 2009

I've purchased this product from an other vendor in 2003 or 2004. Since the first day it has been a great experience cooking with it. It is a snap (pun intended) to clean. It warms up quick, cooks very well and looks gorgeous on my counter top. I would definitely purchase it again but the way it's going I believe we still have a great future together.

Griddled cake is yummy too!
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 27, 2009

We bought this machine on a whim and it transformed our mundane sandwich lives into something toasted, tasty and melted. After realizing that we could whip out a perfectly gooey grilled cheese sandwich in about 2 minutes we went crazy and snacked through several loaves of different breads and what seemed like pounds and pounds of any cheese we could get our hands on. We grilled just about everything on this machine, even birthday cake, fruit cake, sponge cake and banana bread. The only downsides to this machine are that the cord is not retractable and the right side of the machine cooks more slowly than the left. It's very easy to clean and removing the plates is as simple as a push of the button.

Very Happy With Purchase
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 27, 2009

This was recommended to me and I have been happy since I bought it. I had bad luck with my first one of these right after I purchased it, it was defective... one side would not heat up. Brought it back and exchanged it... it has worked perfectly since I got a different one. I love it because there are so many options: you can grill chicken, cook burgers or grill a steak. I have grilled peppers and made the best toasted cheese sandwich for my niece. And of course, I have used it most often for panini's. It has a floating hinge so it will adapt to what ever the thickness of what ever you cook.

Great investment
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 27, 2009

Extremely versatile and the easy open spout for dripping fat makes for an easy clean up. I will never buy a George Forman; this offers so much more, and creates an even cooking surface. I was thrilled when someone bought it off my registry and even more thrilled once I started using it! Great investment for the kitchen.

great for paninis
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 13, 2009

This is a great kitchen accessory, though I've had it for a couple years and have yet to use the flat griddle surface. Maybe if I made pancakes, but it really isn't large enough for that. It is wonderful for turning a regular old sandwich into something special. And, it's great for grilling portobellos and other veggies. Hamburgers are better in the toaster oven, I find, where I can use a drip pan to catch the grease. The Griddler's nice accessory to have for 2 people--probably not so practical for a family of more than that.
